• Roaming profile location not updating

  We have roaming profiles enabled for some users. We want to move some of them over to a new network share. We have copied the files to the location (using Windows backup so that permissions are retained) and we've changed the location in active directory (see screenshot 1). When the user logs in to windows 8 their documents folders still points to the old server (server names removed from the picture but you can see the path is different). The user has logged off and logged back on, and has also run GP update (followed by a shutdown/restart) What do I need to do to make Windows 8 recognise the change?

• PHP script not automatically updating when moved to another server

  A friend built a ranking system on his site and I am trying to host in on mine via WordPress and Go Daddy. It updates for him but when I load it to my site, it works for 6 hours, but as soon as the reload is supposed to occur, it errors and I get a 500 timeout error. Any idea why this might be happening? Any settings that I might need to change? Here is the top of the index.php file. I'm not sure which part of any of it is messing up. • After updating debian lenny, ps stops recognising my users

  Since upgrading my debian lenny box with apt-get, ps seems to be behaving strangely, and also if i run top i see under the user column the ids, not the names. whoami => foo ps -U foo => ERROR: User name does not exist. • Automatically updating routing table on server

  I have a LAN with three routers on it, one connected to the Internet, one VPN router connected to a few remote sites, and a final route connected to a private network (using BGP to get prefix advertisements). On the same LAN I have multiple Linux servers which needs access to the networks behind each router. I have achieved this by configuring static routes on the server, pointing the different network prefixes to the correct router. This has worked well, but every time we connect to a new remote VPN, we have to change all the servers to be aware that the network is now accessible via the VPN, and not via the default Internet route. What I want is a way to automatically update the routes on all of the servers, when the route is added to a routers. Now, I could install Quagga or something similar on all the servers to receive router advertisements, but that seems like overkill. So my question is what is the easiest/simpliest way to update the routing tables on the server automatically, and what protocol is best suited for this purpose. thanks

• ssd firmware, linux: updating large batch of drives

  I was recently hit with a fatal firmware bug that affected dozens of Crucial SSDs deployed in my datacenter. Many of the affected machines use LSI or other proprietary SAS controllers, which Crucial's bootable ISO does not recognize. None of the affected machines has a Windows license. The story is roughly similar for other SSD mfrs, including Samsung and Intel. To resolve this issue, I was forced to stop each machine, remove the affected SSD, remove the SSD from its hotswap caddy, install it temporarily into my ThinkPad, flash the firmware, reverse, rinse, repeat. It took the better part of a day to get through all the affected devices. I am looking for hardware, software, and/or purchasing strategies to ease this pain, as SSD firmware bugs seem inevitable, and our SSD footprint is growing. My first thought is to get a laptop with eSATA and one of these cables (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812311004). That should at least make it so I don't have to remove the drives from their caddies. Surely others have run into this. Any novel solutions?

  On my Windows 8 desktop I keep getting error 0x80073cf9 when I try to install or update an app from the windows store. In the installings apps pane it just says "This app wasn't installed -- view details" and when I select that it says "Something happened and this app couldn't be installed. Please try again. Error code: 0x80073cf9" I am using the built-in windows firewall and antivirus. And my laptop is able to install updates when it is on the same network. • File not updating in symlink'd folder in IIS

  I have the following setup: Site1/Shared/ - Physical folder Site2/Shared/ - symlink using mklink to Site1/Shared I've updated a javascript file in Site1/Shared/scripts, and the change is being reflected on Site1. However, the change is not being reflected through IIS on Site2. When I open Site1/Shared/scripts/common.js and Site2/Shared/scripts/common.js, they match exactly. But when I view the files through Safari, Firefox, Chrome, IE, from any machine (even machines that have never visited the sites), the change is not reflected on Site2. Here are URLs to the files to review: Site 1: http://www.landsofamerica.com/shared/scripts/common.js Site 2: http://www.landsoftexas.com/shared/scripts/common.js These files look exactly the same when logged onto the server, and the shared folder under landsoftexas.com is a symlink created using mklink to the shared folder under landsofamerica.com. Any idea what might be causing IIS to serve the wrong file?

• IP addresses not updating, but showing correctly in the DHCP Address Leases

  I first noticed this when I tried a RDP to wxp-38-shop and it connected me to the computer wxp-alvinm As you can see in the picture I pinged wxp-38-shop and it shows a different IP then whats given in the Address Leases page (w2k3 server). I tried to do ipconfig /flushdns on the server as well as the client computer, but it didn't update that way. If I do an ipconfig on wxp-38-shop is also shows 192.168.0.153, so why when I ping it from any other computer why would it be showing the wrong IP?

When I check the Patch Repository, i see that the release date for the update is Dec.9,2009. Does it mean that I don't need any patches before that date?   I've been working on getting my snort machine up and running, and working through Snort IDS and IPS Toolkit. The authors suggest using Oinkmaster, but on that website, the last update was February of 2008. That seems sort of...odd. Maybe there haven't been any issues with oinkmaster in the past year and a half, but it made me wonder if there was another solution that I don't know about. If you use snort, do you automatically update your rules, and if so, how?

  I just updated PHP and MySQl on my VPS with the current Versions from Atomic Repo. Everything worked out fine so far. From console I get the new PHP 5.3: [root@server phpMyAdmin]# php -v PHP 5.3.16 (cli) (built: Aug 20 2012 11:18:05) Copyright (c) 1997-2012 The PHP Group Zend Engine v2.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2012 Zend Technologies with the ionCube PHP Loader v4.0.5, Copyright (c) 2002-2011, by ionCube Ltd. But through Apache I still get the old version (5.1.6). The server is running some old version of crappy Plesk Panel. That gives me the option to choose between Apache Modul, fCGI and CGI-BIN. Any hints, how to update apache, so it will use the new PHP Version? EDIT: I just needed to restart httpd (/etc/init.d/httpd restart)

• Google Drive desktop client not updating existing files from other users

  I've looked around and there doesn't really seem to be any troubleshooting information for the Google Drive desktop client. It all assumes you are using Google Docs on the web. Anyway, my team is trying to use Google Drive like Dropbox, where multiple people are editing files shared amongst them through the desktop, such as images. Dropbox is really good at noticing when a checksum for a file is changed, and syncing it. Google Drive's desktop client seems not to do this at all. Google Drive desktop client seems to only sync newly created files and not giving any notification at all that there is a modified version, it will never sync it, even though going online and opening that file will show the modified version. Is there any way to fix this? and the answer has nothing to do with proxy or firewall configurations. Team is using computers running OSX and Windows.

  We recently purchased Outlook 2010 for our law firm. We have several secretaries that need to view all calendars and input information in each of them. We do not have Exchange. I did a test by creating a calendar on one computer and sharing it with another computer. On the second computer I created a calendar and shared it with the first computer. Everything seems to work, except when I put events on computer 1 calendar and look at computer 1 calendar on computer 2. I can not see anything. Any advice would help. Thanks

• Updating with using custom class collection not working

  I've posted this yesterday on asp forum but no one replied so perhaps I'll have better luck here. For some reason the OnUpdating method does not pull new values from the grid which is in edit mode. I've search and have come across several blogs and sites, some sugesting that an ObjectDataSource is required in order to use the "e.NewValue" construct others provide code to the contrary. I don't get any errors - the variables in the code file would contain the old values rather then new ones. I don't want to use the ODS way of manipulating the data. My delete method works but not the update one. Can you suggest what is wrong with the code? • Ubuntu 14.04 says insufficient memory in my /boot memory alocation while updating

  I am new to Linux platform. I just tried installing Ubuntu alongside windows but allocated only 200 mb to the /boot partition which is not recommended. Now Ubuntu software update keep on insists me no enough space. What should I do? Is there any way to increase my /boot partition without removing the total OS? Or should I completely uninstall Ubuntu and put it back? Please anyone suggest me over this issue. I have no idea what to do. And please be elaborate, as I am new to Linux environment.

  I'm writing a report and I have some problems with headings. I have this structure: Chapter 1(heading1) 1.1(heading2) 1.1.1(heading3) 1.2(heading2) Chapter2(heading1) 2.1 2.2 The problem is that when I choose heading 1 word writes a number before chapter - 1 chapter 1 I want numbers to appear only from heading 2. I managed to change it using multilevel lists but it doesn't update appropriately. I mean I removed the number before chapter 1 for example but it did not update chapter 2 subheadings that became numbering from 1 (not 2). Please help me out. thanks.

• Bind is updating DNS with wrong resolver info after rndc flush expires

  I'm running Bind 9 on a small office server (Centos 5) with a local mailserver. There's a domain we need to email - it shows wrong DNS info for the MX servers using the local bind, so an RNDC flush updates this correctly - but then, after some time - it reverts back to the wrong resolver. I would have thought that 'rndc flush' just clears the local cache and pulls all the authoritative info down - so why is it being overwritten (by what seems like the next update)? where do I need to look? Presumably there's some named logging(?) to determine where it's getting the [new or cached] updates from?

• Updating windows xp hard drive controller from ubuntu live disk

  The problem: When booting, I get a blue screen shortly after the Windows XP logo splash screen. The error code is 7b, and the second hex number is 0xC0000034. Based on this link (item 7) it appears the driver should be updated. Oddly, I made no changes to the drivers recently. I suspect it was something in a windows update or the newest upgrade of my antivirus (eset). But I digress. The BSOD makes me unable to boot into Windows at all, so I can't update the driver from there. I've run various bios-level diagnostics (including full surface scan) and the hd looks good. I'm also able to boot to an old ubuntu disk and read files from the hd. The question: Based on the above, it appears that I need to update the Windows hard drive controller from the ubuntu live disk. How do I do that?

Here is my issue: when I go to AMD/ATI website to update my graphics card - it doesn't. when I type DxDiag and then click on display it tell me my version is 8.17.0 and its on 10.10.0 for the latest version. How can I get 8.17.0 too 10.10.0? I figure it would have done that after I updated the driver for my graphics card. Thanks.
