  • XML Outputting - PHP vs JS vs Anything Else?

    Hi everyone, I am working on developing a Travel website which uses XML API's to get the data. However i am relatively new to XML and outputting it. I have been experimenting with using PHP to output a test XML file, but currently the furthest iv got is to only output a few records. As it the questions states i need to know which technology will be best for this project. Below iv included some points to take into consideration.   • Java vs C# - AddActionListener vs event subscription

    Very simple question from one somewhat new to Java: when adding an event handler (or whatever it is called in Java) to a Control, MUST it be an object? I mean, in C# I can do control.event += System.eventHandler(methodThatHandlesEvent) Sure, that's because we have delegate types in C#, but I was wondering if I can choose which method would be called when an event is raised in Java? I mean, in Java I can have something like control.AddActionListener(objectWhichClassImplementsActionListener) And then I have the stupid actionPerformed method in this class, which is the only method that is called. I know, there are more kinds of listeners, but I can't have a "ActionListenerHandler" class in which I implement several actionPerformed methods that can be assigned to different controls?

  • How to I prevent decimal truncation in Word 2003 when a document is auto populated via a Web Service

    I have a document template which is being auto populated via an external web service. The incoming data exists as a currency (e.g. 3.10) but when it is passed into the Word Document template the variable is truncated to remove any trailing 0's. I need the number to always appear with 2 decimals, even if they are both 0's. This is with the 2003 version of Word, I have not tested with other versions since all of our document templates need to be generated using that version of Word. I feel like this can be done with a Macro or a VB script but I have a very small amount of time & no experience with these tools - Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • How can I turn off calculated columns in an Excel table from a macro using VBA? [migrated]

    I am working on a macro that inserts formulas into a cell in an Excel table. The Excel table does the automatic filling of columns and fills all the cells in that column with the formula, but all I want is one cell to have the formula. I cannot just turn off automatic formula for tables as I need to have other people use this worksheet on their systems. Is there a way to turn off the automatic filling of formulas in a table using VBA in a macro? It just needs to be temporary: I just want to turn it off, put in my formulas, then turn it back on.

  • Outlook macro runs through 250 iterations before failing with error [migrated]

    Description: I have an Outlook macro that loops through selected emails in a folder and writes down some info to a .csv file. It works perfectly up until 250 before failing. To make my code more readable, I decided to replace this code: if(arg1==NULL || arg2==NULL || arg3==NULL...) { return SOME_ERROR; } With that macro: NULL_CHECK(arg1,arg2,...) How should I write it, if the number of args is unknown and they can point to different structs?(I work in C99)

  • VBA Excel - Workbook_SheetChange

    Hopefully this question hasn't already been asked, I tried searching for an answer and couldn't find anything. This is probably a simple question, but I am writing my first macro in excel and am having a problem that I can't find out a solution to. I wrote a couple of macros that basically sum up columns dynamically (so that the number of rows can change and the formula moves down automatically) based on a value in another column of the same row, and I call those macros from the event Workbook_SheetChange. The problem I'm having is, I change a cell's value from my macro to display the result of the sum, and this then calls Workbook_SheetChange again, which I do not want. Right now it works, but I can trace it and see that Workbook_SheetChange is being called multiple times. This is preventing me from adding other cell changes to the macros, because then it results in an infinite loop. I want the macros to run every time a change is made to the sheet, but I don't see any way around allowing the macros to change a cell's value, so I don't know what to do. I will paste my code below, in case it is helpful.   • Page Inspector and Visual Studio 2012

    In this post I will be looking into a new feature that has been added to theVS 2012 IDE. I am talking about Page Inspector that gives developers a very good/handy way to identify layout issues and to find out which part of server side code is responsible for that HTML snippet of code.If you are interested in reading other posts about VS 2012 and .Net 4.5 please have a look here and here.This tool is integrated into the VS 2012 IDE.We can launch it in different ways. 1) We will create a new ASP.Net MVC application (an Internet application). I will not add any code.2) In the Solution Explorer I choose my project and right-click. From the available options select View in Page InspectorHave a look at the picture below.  3) We can launch Page Inspector from the Standard Toolbar. Please have a look at the picture below.   4) Let's view our application with Page Inspector. First I inspect the About link-menu.I can see very quickly the HTML that is rendering for that link to appear. I also see the server side code (the actual view, _Layout.cshtml) that is responsible for that link. This is something developers always craved for. We can also see the CSS styles that are used to style this link (About).Have a look at the picture below Obviously there are similar tools that I have been using in the past when I wanted to change a part of the HTML or see what piece of CSS code affects my layout. I used Firebug when viewing my web applications in the Firefox browser. Internet Explorer and Chrome have also great similar tools that help web developers to identify issues with a site's appearance/issues.Please bear in mind that Page Inspector works with all forms of the ASP.Net stack e.g Web Forms,Web Pages.Hope it helps!!!!!

    Is there a known 'most efficient' algorithm for AABB vs Ray collision detection? I recently stumbled accross Arvo's AABB vs Sphere collision algorithm, and I am wondering if there is a similarly noteworthy algorithm for this. One must have condition for this algorithm is that I need to have the option of querying the result for the distance from the ray's origin to the point of collision. having said this, if there is another, faster algorithm which does not return distance, then in addition to posting one that does, also posting that algorithm would be very helpful indeed. Please also state what the function's return argument is, and how you use it to return distance or a 'no-collision' case. For example, does it have an out parameter for the distance as well as a bool return value? or does it simply return a float with the distance, vs a value of -1 for no collision? (For those that don't know: AABB = Axis Aligned Bounding Box)

    How can I replace all occurrence of user defined latex macros with their definitions? For example, given this file old.tex \newcommand{\blah}[2]{#1 \to #2} ... foo \blah{egg}{spam} bar ... how to generate the file below in an automatic way new.tex ... foo egg \to spam bar ... Instead of reimplementing latex macro logic with perl, can I use latex or tex engine itself to do this?

  • What's the point of some of shoulda's macros?

    I think shoulda is really neat, but what I don't understand is why some of the macros exist, such as: should_validate_uniqueness_of :title should_validate_presence_of :body, :message => /wtf/ should_validate_presence_of :title should_validate_numericality_of :user_id I'm relatively new to testing, but what purpose do these serve? They're almost an exact mirror of the same validations that happen in the model. For example, what exactly do you accomplish by going into your model and writing validates_uniqueness_of :title and then writing a test that says should_validate_uniqueness_of :title?

    So I am having a very difficult time finding a solution to this problem. Is there any way that I can inherit macros from another project. For example, for the post build I would like to use the macro for the RemoteMachine address that is located in one project in all the other projects. I was thinking something like (ProjectContainingMacro.$RemoteMachine) ... does anyone have any suggestions?
