• ASP.Net delete record audit trigger

  Suppose you have the following... A ASP.NET web application that calls a stored procedure to delete a record. The table has a trigger on it that will insert an audit entry each time a record is deleted. I want to be able to record in the audit entry the person who deleted the record. What would be the best way to go about achieving this? I know I could remove the trigger and have the delete stored procedure insert the audit entry prior to deleting but are there other recommeded alternative?

  I've got my database set up with three tables - code, tags, and code_tags for tagging posts. This will be the SQL query processed when a post is submitted. Each tag is sliced up by PHP and individually inserted using these queries. INSERT IGNORE INTO tags (tag) VALUES ('$tags[1]'); SELECT tags.id FROM tags WHERE tag = '$tags[1]' ORDER BY id DESC LIMIT 1; INSERT INTO code_tags (code_id, tag_id) VALUES ($codeid, WHAT_GOES_HERE?) The WHAT_GOES_HERE? value at the end is what I need to know. It needs to be the ID of the tag that the second query fetched. How can I put that ID into the third query? I hope I explained that correctly. I'll rephrase if necessary.

  I'm working on a project where I'm downloading and saving data from web to sqlite database. A few minutes ago I receive a strange exception to our server from a user which is saying that the sqlite database is already closed..and I just checked the whole file where the exception happened and I'm not calling dbHelper.close();. For each record read from the csv, a lookup is made into the timezones collection to map the record location to the respective time zone. If the mapping is successful - that timezone is used to convert the record timestamp (pacific time) to the respective local timestamp. If no mapping is found - a rough approximation is calculated. The timezones collection is appropriately indexed, of course - calling explain() confirms it. The process is slow. Naturally, having to query the timezones collection for every record kills the performance. I am looking for advises on how to improve it. Thanks. Surprisingly, not only there is no improvement, but it works even more slowly now! May be rtree could be fine tuned to load the entire dat/idx pair into RAM (704M), but I do not know how to do it. Until then, it is not an alternative. In general, I think the solution should involve parallelization of the task.   Hy I'v a little problem with hibernate on netbeans. I've a table with an Auto increment id : CREATE TABLE "DVD" ( "DVD_ID" INT not null primary key GENERATED ALWAYS AS IDENTITY (START WITH 1, INCREMENT BY 1), "TITLE" VARCHAR(150), "COM" LONG VARCHAR, "COVER" VARCHAR(150) ); But this auto increment is not properly detected with Reverse Engineering. I get a map file with this : <id name="dvdId" type="int"> <column name="DVD_ID" /> <generator class="assigned" /> </id> i've looked on google and on this site ... foud some stuf but i'm still stuck.. i've tried to add insert="false" update="false" on the map file but i get back : Caused by: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Attribute "insert" must be declared for element type "id".   UPDATE: My mistake - I made a typo. Nevermind this question. I'm using php to update a mysql database. The table gets updated.   To build a HTML table I use direct DOM instead of a predefined Widget to set thead and tbody. But when I insert a cell with the insertCell() method GWT inserts an td element but should insert an th element. So TableElement table = Document.get().createTableElement(); TableSectionElement thead = table.createTHead(); TableRowElement headRow = thead.insertRow(-1); headRow.insertCell(-1).setInnerText( "header1" ); gives table/thead/tr/td but should give table/thead/tr/th Any idea how to solve this problem? Use the "old-school" DOM.createXXX()-Methods?

• Implement a calender with Ruby and Javascript in Rails

  I'm trying to implement a calendar with Ruby and Javascript in Rails. I'm using a calendar helper that creates a calendar with given year and month and events as parameters (<%= calendar(:year => 2012, :month => 4, :events => @events %>). I also have three buttons next, today and previous with which the user should be able to navigate the calendar with. I am also going to implement some js that makes it possible to select dates in the calendar. So what I would like to do is to insert the calendar in the DOM with javascript in order to generate a new calendar when the user clicks one of the buttons. That way I will be able to control the behavior of the buttons and add the select functionality. The problem is that I can't just insert my erb code in a javascript plus I'm not even sure it's the right way to go? Any suggestions are appreciated!

• How to properly reserve identity values for usage in a database?

  We have some code in which we need to maintain our own identity (PK) column in SQL. We have a table in which we bulk insert data, but we add data to related tables before the bulk insert is done, thus we can not use an IDENTITY column and find out the value up front. The current code is selecting the MAX value of the field and incrementing it by 1. Although there is a highly unlikely chance that two instances of our application will be running at the same time, it is still not thread-safe (not to mention that it goes to the database everytime). I am using the ADO.net entity model. How would I go about 'reserving' a range of id's to use, and when that range runs out, grab a new block to use, and guarantee that the same range will not be used.

  Hi, I Have a DataBase in my project With Table named 'ProcessData' and columns named 'Start_At' (Type: DateTime) and 'End_At' (Type: DateTime) . When I try to enter a new record into this table, it enter the data in the following format: 'YYYY/MM/DD HH:mm', when I actualy want it to be in that format: 'YYYY/MM/DD HH:mm:ss' (the secondes dosen't apper). Does anyone know why, and what should I do in order to fix this? • entity framework and dirty reads

  I have Entity Framework (.NET 4.0) going against SQL Server 2008. The database is (theoretically) getting updated during business hours -- delete, then insert, all through a transaction. Practically, it's not going to happen that often. But, I need to make sure I can always read data in the database. The application I'm writing will never do any types of writes to the data -- read-only. If I do a dirty read, I can always access the data; the worst that happens is I get old data (which is acceptable). However, can I tell Entity Framework to always use dirty reads? Are there performance or data integrity issues I need to worry about if I set up EF this way? Or should I take a step back and see about rewriting the process that's doing the delete/insert process?

  Hi, guys, I'm coding a web page in Hibernate-JPA and Oracle. I need the following: I have two classes: Place and Home. I need two collections of type Place in every Home: I do the following: Home: @ManyToOne @JoinColumn(name="ID_PLACES") private List<Places>places1; @ManyToOne @JoinColumn(name="ID_PLACES") private List<Places>Places2; However, hibernate got an exception (repeated column) and forces to me to mapping with insert and update to false.
