• Creating a contact form using divs with 4 extra divs for "Corners"?

  Hi there, i have tried to create a contact form (a standard form, square in nature but with rounded corners)... I can't use the CSS3 specs so i have an image for each corner.. I have set the images on the background-image and no repeat but it seems if the div is empty then it doesn't display, is there a hack - although prefer an alternative clean method :-) So on the top level i presume i have 1 div for the Upper-Left (corner) and then the upper-middle (just has a color assigned) and then a div for the upper-right (corner) .. so i presume i need to float all these to the left??? Or am i missing something? Thanks in advance

• Track Pedestrians

  I am using OpenCV sample code “peopledetect.cpp” to detect and track pedestrians. The code uses HoG for feature extraction and SVM for classification. Please find the reference paper used here. The camera is mounted on the wall at a height of 10 feet and 45 degree down. There is no restriction on the pedestrian movement within the frame. I want to track the detected pedestrians’ movement within the frame. The issue I am facing is pedestrians are detected only in the middle region of the frame as most of the features are not visible as soon as the pedestrian enters the frame region. I want to track each person’s movement in the entire frame region. How to do it? Is tracking required? Can anyone give any reference to blogs/codes?

• Create an Edit view similar to Contacts App

  I have an edit view in my app which is a instance of UITableViewController and contains one cell with a textfield in a grouped table. At the moment this cell is at the top of the screen and is firstResponder so they keyboard is visible as well. But in all the Apples apps like the Contacts App when you edit a piece of information like an Email it buts both of its rows in the middle between the Nav Bar and the Keyboard not at the top of the screen.   Im Working on a creation of a query who uses INSERT SELECT statement using MS SQL Server 2008: INSERT INTO TABLE1 (col1, col2) SELECT col1, col2 FROM TABLE2 Right now the excecution of this query is inside a transaction: Pseudocode: try { begin transaction; query; commit; } catch { rollback; } If TABLE2 has around 40m of rows, at the moment of making the insert on the TABLE1, if there is an error in the middle of the INSERT, will the INSERT SELECT statement make a rollback itself or I need to use a transaction to preserve data integrity? It is necessary to use a transaction? or SQL SERVER it self uses a transaction for this type of sentences.

• Unexpected htaccess behaviour (mod_rewrite and apache)

  Yeah, mod_rewrite is driving me crazy. Here is the problem: my htaccess RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?url=$1 [L,QSA] when i try to access the page advantix (so address was www.mywebsite.com/advantix), i'm being redirected to advantix/?url=advantix Looking at the access log, i have a suspicious 301 in the middle "GET /advantix HTTP/1.1" 301 335 "-" "Mozilla/5.0" "GET /advantix/?url=advantix HTTP/1.1" 200 186 "-" "Mozilla/5.0" There is one important detail: advantix is a directory. So, if i comment that rule, advantix goes to the folder and list the files. Why it applies automatically the / if there's a folder matching? I don't want to reach the folder, i want to reach index.php?url=advantix with a call to advantix. I have the rewriteLogs too, but they didn't help more. My vhost conf has Directory tag with Options All, if helps, i don't know much about that.

• opening iWorks documents in iPad UIWebView

  Hello, I'm writing an iPad application that has a UIWebView which I open word and excel documents in, but I want the user to be able to import those documents into the iWorks applications, Pages and Numbers, just like how you can do it in Safari if you open a document. If you open a document in Safari on the iPad, there'll be a button on the top bar that says "Open in..." and you can choose applications to open in. You get the top bar to appear by tapping on middle of the page. So is there an option you can set to allow UIWebView to show up the bar and automatically detect the content type and populate the list with applications you can import in? Or do I have to build this myself? And if I have to build my own, how do I open URLs to import documents into Pages and Numbers etc? Thanks, -David

• Does anyone know of a way to easily convert a PDF to a docx format programmatically

  We have a couple 3rd party systems that give us PDFs. We would like to convert those PDFs for display on the web without using an Adobe product. Ideally we would like to use Silverlight to render the PDFs but are having trouble converting from a PDF to Xaml or using docx format as a middle man. There are lots of libraries that give PDFs but that is not what we need. If there is a library out there that does this, a .net lib would be preferable but we can run the conversion using the command line as well if that is an option.

  Hi everyone, We're in the middle of making a new e-commerce related PHP application and we have come to the point where we have started to think about how we should solve templating for our customers needs. What we would like to do is offer our customers the possibility of uploading/modifying templates to suit their company:s profile. The initial thought is that we shall not reinvent the wheel, so instead letting our customers upload their templates with FTP, so there will be basic HTML skills required. For those customers that want to modify/customize template and doesnt have the knowledge, we offer that service as well. I know that there's a number of issues to solve before this could be considered safe, like preventing XSS and writing scripts that check through each uploaded file for potential security threats and so on. Of course, there are some part that probably will be to complex for the customer to modify by themselves, so maybe this approach won't apply to all<< template files in the frontend application. But besides that, what would be a good way to handle this?

• Referencing control on one form from another form VB.NET

  My gosh man, why is this so complicated in VB.NET? As you can guess, I'm kind of new to .NET and just want to reference a control on one form from another. Usually I would just do Form.Control.Property but that doesn't work and every example I've found through Google doesn't work for me. It just seems overly complicated with public classes, etc. Is there a more simpler way to do this? I'm ready to throw in the towel and just use a global variable at this point. I have the form containing the control I want to reference, frmGenerate which has a textbox called txtCustomerNo. From this form through a button's click event I want to show another form, frmCustomers, and have that form reference the value in txtCustomerNo. frmCustomers.ShowDialog() It has to be something simple that I'm just not grasping.   This is not a pure programming question, however it impacts the performance of programs using fseek(), hence it is important to know how it works. A little disclaimer so that it doesn't get closed. I am wondering how efficient it is to insert data in the middle of the file. Supposing I have a file with 1MB data and then I insert something at the 512KB offset. How efficient would that be compared to appending my data at the end of the file? Just to make the example complete lets say I want to insert 16KB of data. I understand the answer varies depending on the filesystem, however I assume that the techniques used in common filesystems are quite similar and I just want to get the right notion of it.

• Vertically center CSS techniques don't work in Chrome

  I've gone through stackoverflow questions and a whole bunch of articles on vertically centering text like the following: http://blog.themeforest.net/tutorials/vertical-centering-with-css/ None of the techniques seem to work with the latest version of Chrome. Is that just the nature of Chrome? My text just always appears at the top. It seems that whenever I use 50% or 100% as values for CSS's height or top, nothing happens. I just need a single line of text vertically centered. line-height isn't helpful because I want it centered in the middle of the browser window... I don't know how tall the browser window is going to be. UPDATE: The problem is apparently Foundation 4. Once I delete the following everything works as expected: <link href="/assets/foundation_and_overrides.css?body=1" media="screen" rel="stylesheet" /> Any idea on how to make it work with Foundation 4?

  The short version: is there a way to to write an "and" clause in a batch file? The slightly longer version: I've inherited a Visual Studio project that creates a dll and then copies that dll to another location. As a post build step, VS runs the following script. if not '$(ConfigurationName)' == 'DebugNoSvc' goto end xcopy /Y $(TargetDir)*.config $(ProjectDir)..\myService\bin\Debug xcopy /Y $(TargetDir)*.config $(ProjectDir)..\myService\bin\DebugNoSvc :end It looks like there's a problem when the project is compiled as Debug, since it doesn't do the copy (I'm guessing that at some point the middle section got updated, but the if clause didn't.) Is there an easy way to an "and" clause in batch?

• Modifying object in AfterInsert / AfterUpdate

  I have a domain object that holds results of a calculation based on parameters that are properties of the same domain object. I'd like to make sure that any time parameters get changed by the user, it recalculates and gets saved properly into the database. I am trying to do that with afterInsert (to make sure calculation is correct in the first place), and afterUpdate. However, since my calculation is trying to modify the object itself, it's not working - throwing various hibernate exceptions. I tried to put the afterUpdate code into a transaction, but that didn't help. I am afraid I am getting into a circular dependency issues here. The exception I am getting right now is: org.hibernate.StaleObjectStateException: Row was updated or deleted by another transaction (or unsaved-value mapping was incorrect): [esc.scorecard.PropertyScorecard#27] Are the GORM events designed for simpler use cases? I am tempted to conclude that modifying the object you are in the middle of saving is not the way to go.

• Get other classes from an element with Jquery

  I am working on a small bit of script that will allow for easy and flexible creation of buttons. My buttons are made of three parts, a left, a right and a streched middle piece. There are three different sizes and three different colours of each. I have written the code that resizes the button to fit the text. Now I am looking to add the ability to easily set the colour and size. I was thinking of using three classes something like <div class="button blue big"> My script already loops through the button classes using each. Now I need to find out what other classes are set and adjust the pictures and dimentions used to fit. So how can I find out what other class selectors an element has? Also I am fairly new to jquery/javascript so I am wondering if storing the design as class selectors is the best way.

• Securing a REST API

  I am in the middle of developing a REST API - the first one I ever have. The data being passed through the API is not of such a critical nature that there will be loss of life, economics etc if it was intercepted but at the same time I would like it to be secure. The data being transferred is simply like the data that would be transferred on Twitter or Facebook - not overly confidential but still should be kept private. What is the best way to secure this data? Am I best to use HTTP Basic Auth over SSL or should I be looking into something like OAuth. • Split string into multiple lines

  I have a long string of comments that I'd like to split into multiple lines. It's currently displayed as <%= Html.Encode(item.important_notes) %> I've played with using .Substring to split it, but can't figure out how to prevent it from splitting in the middle of a word. Instead of characters 1-100 on line 1 and 101-200 on line 2, I'd like to do something like character 1 through the last space before character 100 on line one. That character through the last space before the next 100 characters on line 2, etc. What is the best way to do this? EDIT: using ASP.NET-MVC

Score which is an NSNumber. Time which is an NSNumber Playfield which is a 16 element array of NSNumbers How do I access those elements inside of the NSDictionary?

• jQuery $.post & $.append & IE6

  I'm having a weird problem with jQuery and IE6. Script works on IE7+ and with all other browsers I have tried it. I can't post the full script, but what it does is this: $.post("file.php",{'foo':'bar'},function(data){ $('#target').append(data) }) When I run the code in IE6, #target just shows ? and a white char with a hole in the middle. I have no idea what this second char is. My initial thought was that this was some sort of content-type problem because the file.php just echoes answer without any header information. I added Content-type: text/html with header() but didn't help. Any suggestions?

  So I was trying to compile a code which has a SHA1 function .. I included following header: #include <openssl/sha.h> And I got the following error while compiling: test.c:9:5: error: 'SHA1' is deprecated: first deprecated in OS X 10.7 [-Werror,-Wdeprecated-declarations] SHA1(msg, strlen(msg), hs); ^ But man pages still have the descriptions for that function. Can anyone suggest any other header for a similar function ( MD5 or SHA1 )? PS - also do I need to link any libraries while compiling using gcc?

• Uniforme distance between points

  Hello, How could I, having a path defined by several points that are not in a uniform distance from each other, redefine along the same path the same number of points but with a uniform distance. I'm trying to do this in Objective-C with NSArrays of CGPoints but so far I haven't had any luck with this. Thank you for any help. EDIT I was wondering if it would help to reduce the number of points, like when detecting if 3 points are collinear we could remove the middle one, but I'm not sure that would help.

• In forms application, is there any Alternative to MsgBox?

  I like how MsgBox stops all further processing until it's clicked but I don't like how it pops that little msgbox in the middle of the screen, which I then have bring to the front if there is a window covering it. Is there a way to do something like a msgbox but keep it on my Form (which is always in view) so I can go ahead and click a button on the form instead of having to bring the little msgbox window on top of windows that may be covering it. I use the msgbox to inform me that a certain situation has happened, which I manually fix and when I'm done I click the MsgBox to continue processing. It'd be nice to have this button right on the form.

• Bouncing a ball off a surface

  Hi all, I'm currently in the middle of writing a game like Breakout, and I was wondering how I could properly bounce a ball off a surface. I went with the naive way of rotating the velocity by 180 degrees, which was: [vx, vy] -> [-vy, vx] Which (unsurprisingly) didn't work so well. If I know the position and veocity of the ball, as well as the point the ball would hit (but is going to instead bounce off of) how can I bounce it off that point? I don't need any language specific code. If anyone could provide a small, mathematical formula on how to properly do this that would work fine for me. I also need this to work with integer positions and velocity (I can't use floating point anywhere). Thanks!
