• ASP.NET Website no Response while Processing Long Process

  Dear Programmers, When my Application face a long-time process, i.e fetch a query (SELECT a, b, c FROM d) This query needs 10 seconds to be completed in the MSSQL Management Studio, but when the ASP.NET application try to fetch it, it refuse to return any response to any other requests made on that Server. I am hosting my Application on VPS Server with good specifications, and I am giving this example the (SELECT a, b, c FROM d) just to tell you the issue, it can be any process, maybe processing a movie, or even fetching some data through external API that is experiencing some slow-down,or whatever. Any help or suggestions would be highly appreciated.

  I have a cache service,it's works as .net remoting, i want to create another windows service to clean up the that cache service by transfer the objects from cache to files. because they are in separate process, is their any way i could access that cache service or do i have to expose a method from the cache service to do that clean up work? the "clean up" means i want to serialize the object from Cache to file and these saved file will be used for further process. let me explain this application more detail. the application is mainly a log service to log all the coming request and these request will be saved to db for further data mining. we have 2 design for this log system 1) use MSMQ, but seems it's performance is not good enough, we don't use it. 2) we design a cache service, each request will be saved into the cache, and we need another function to clean up the cache by serialize the object to file.

  How to programmatically determine from a process P, which other process P' has a lock on a file, that prevents P from recreating that file ? I know there are tools to do that, but how do they achieve that ? (Context: a batch program that runs overnight fails because of a locked file. Running an admin tool the next day may be too late to get useful information. So it would be nice if the batch program itself was able to determine the culprit.) EDIT: Added complexity: the file resides on a DFS and P' might not run on the same machine as P (but maybe does). But a solution that works locally would be a good beginning.

I have added a manifest file. When user clicks on the DownloadUpdate.exe, UAC prompts the user for Admin permissions. So i assumed that all processes created and called within DownloadUpdate.exe will run in admin capacity.   Hi, i will be sending a POST request to login.php on my server from an iphone app over HTTPS. The POST is created using NSMutableURLRequest. Is there an example of a PHP script to process this POST on my server. The POST isn't sent as a form as such , anyway not that i think it is. Not sure how NSMutableURLRequest formats this. I just need to know how to access the POST data on the server with the php script. All the examples ive seen regarding php scripts processing POSTS seem to be do with forms. So how do i process this?   I am running a shell script from a perl CGI script: #!/usr/bin/perl my $command = "./script.sh &"; my $pid = fork(); if (defined($pid) && $pid==0) { # background process system( $command ); } The shell script looks like this: #!/bin/sh trap 'echo trapped' 15 tail -f test.log When I run the CGI script from browser, and then stop httpd using /etc/init.d/httpd stop, the script receives a SIGTERM signal. I was expecting the script to run as a separate process and not be tied in anyway to httpd. Though I can trap the SIGTERM, I would like to understand why the script is receiving SIGTERM at all. What wrong am I doing here? I am running RHEL 5.8 and Apache HTTP server 2.4. Thanks, Pranav

  From an out-of-process COM object (LocalServer32) can I determine the client process that requested the creation of the object? - to be specific I need to get hold of the client processes command line. This question arrises because (due to poor standardisation, implementation and support) the potential 3rd party clients of the object have a variety of idiosyncracies which the object needs to workaround. To do this the object needs to be able to identify its current client. Extending the interface of the COM object so that the client can identify itself is unfortunately not possible ... or to be more precise the interface can be extended but I won't be able to get the clients to call the extension.

• MPI C fprintf() output not showing up if the process hangs on MPI_Recv

  I'm writing an MPI C program. I have troubles debugging it, because whenever I use fprintf, like this: fprintf(stdout, "worker: %d", worker); if the program hangs, because of some blocking MPI_Recv, I can't see any output. I'm sure the line of code is reached, because I can put a return statement after the fprintf statement, in which case the process finishes execution and the output is printed. Any ideas, on how to print (see the output) even though the process gets blocked later by Recv? I hope this makes sense.

  I have a table with ~800k rows. I ran an update users set hash = SHA1(CONCAT({about eight fields})) where 1; Now I have a hung Sequel Pro process and I'm not sure about the mysqld process. This is two questions: What harm can possibly come from killing these programs? I'm working on a separate database, so no damage should come to other databases on the system, right? Assume you had to update a table like this. What would be a quicker / more reliable method of updating without writing a separate script. I just checked with phpMyAdmin and it appears as though the query is complete. I still have Sequel Pro using 100% of both my cores though...

Notifier is system tray popup application which check the remote server in equal intervals and get the list of current documents of user. • Visual Studio WCF Application now asking to manually attach to process

  I have a console app that is calling a WCF app hosted in IIS. Up until now everything has been fine and I am able to debug the app - step through it without any problems... Until I added my dev pc to a domain.... now every time I get step into the code hosted in IIS, a popup comes up asking if I would like to attach to this process... I can then continue debugging... again not a huge train smash - however... now it randomly just jumps to the end of the process (almost like some kind of timeout) and I am not able to reliably step and debug the IIS hosted code.... Any ideas? All the projects are in the same solution, and all running on the local dev pc... Using Visual Studio 2008, dev PC is Win 7

• Reading a file used by another process

  I know this has been up for discussion but I can't find an answer to my specific problem. I am monitoring a text file that is being written to by a server program. Every time the file is changed the content will be outputted to a window in my program. The problem is of course, that I can't use the Streamreader on the file as it is being "used by another process". Also setting up a Filestream with ReadWrite won't do any good since I cannot control the process that is using the file. However... You CAN open the file in notepad, so somehow it must be possible to access it even though the server is using it. Is there a good way around this? Should I monitor the file, make a temp copy of it when it changes, read the temp copy and the delete the temp copy. I need to get hold of the text in the file whenever the server changes it.

I want to run the initial indexing (the index will be incremental after the initial run so there wont be need to index the whole directory again in future). Currently, I have about 5GB of docs (45000files). Problem: My application times out before completing the process. I have altered the TimeOut like this: HttpContext.Current.Server.ScriptTimeout = 200000; but it still does not complete the process. How can I run the index?

  Hello, I have a windows form that has a simple menu and performs a simple operation, I want to be able to create another windows form with all the functionality of a menu bar, message pump etc.. as a seperate process so I can then share the results of the operation to the second window. I.E. 1) Form A opens Form B opens as a separate process 2)Form A performs operation 3)Form A passes results via memory to Form B 4)Form B display results I'm confused as to how to go about it, the main app runs fine but i'm not sure how to add a second window if the first one already exists. • Oracle data provider hangs IIS worker process when web site is stopped

  We're experiencing a nasty issue in Oracle 11g Release 2 where the w3wp process takes over and entire processor core, and debugging shows that the Oracle data provider is throwing ThreadAbortExceptions infinitely. A developer found this issue by doing the following: 1) Browse a web site that uses Oracle data connections locally (http://localhost/OracleWebSite) - we use IIS, not the ASP.NET dev server, for all of our sites. This ensures that the w3wp process is running and that an active Oracle pool of connections exists in the app pool. 2) Stop the web site (or perform a Rebuild All operation in Visual Studio on the web site in question). Our Oracle connection handling in the affected applications (all Oracle web apps) is well-established and robust. This issue does not occur if we disable connection pooling. This issue does not occur in Oracle 11g Release 1.

This process is did for all the form. so now each form having to resx file first is hi.resx for hindi and another is default resx. now my qus is that : how to give language selection option at installation time. and when user choose any language then my application is converted in that language that means particular language resx file set life time whenever user uninstall that application.

  Hi, I am required to create a custom Process Template on using VSTS 2010 Beta 1. Given that I did not use templates in VSTS 2008 I am not even sure where to start. The TFS and VS 2010 are all installed and configured. First I tried to create a test project and selected a built-in template "MSF for Agile Software etc." I wanted to try to modify (customize) it to begin with but was not sure how to do it. I searched high and low but could not find a sample/walkthrough/hint/help on how to develop a process template from scratch. Sorry for the messy explanation but I am kind of VERY frustrated...
