Hello.. I am trying to get all of the "video" elements and their attributes from an XML file that looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <videos> <video title="video1" path="videos\video1.wma"/> <video title="video2" path="videos\video2.wma"/> <video title="video3" path="videos\video3.wma"/> </videos> The following will only select the root node and all of the children. I would like to get all of the 'video' elements into the IEnumerable. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? IEnumerable<XElement> elements = from xml in _xdoc.Descendants("videos") select xml; The above returns a collection with a length == 1. It contains the root element and all the children.

XSLT Escape Character not working

I am trying to use escape charaters in my text output, as i would like too surround the output in emailData tags. I am using <xsl:text><emailData></xsl:text> In the XSLT to esnure that this works however because i am using a tool called Cast Iron for some reason it is not converting the < into < and just spits out <emailData> You can see am image of it HERE that illustrates the output i am getting. this problem make me crazy! i have asp.net website it raise periodically this error (in IE8): System.Web.HttpException: Invalid viewstate. at System.Web.UI.Page.DecryptStringWithIV(String s, IVType ivType) at System.Web.Handlers.AssemblyResourceLoader.System.Web.IHttpHandler .ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) ,... or (in IE6) System.FormatException: Invalid length for a Base-64 char array. at System.Convert.FromBase64String(String s) at System.Web.UI.ObjectStateFormatter.Deserialize(String inputString) or (in IE7) System.FormatException: Invalid character in a Base-64 string. at System.Convert.FromBase64String(String s) at System.Web.UI.ObjectStateFormatter.Deserialize(String inputString) i set enableViewStateMac in web.config to false and defined machinekey in my web.config and defined UTF-8 encoding for every page but i received this errors. do you have any solution? best regards

Account preferences crashes on ListPreference

I have created an account type using the AccountAuthenticator stuff as done in the SampleSyncAdapter tutorial. I am now trying to get account preferences working. I have added the line android:accountPreferences="@xml/account_preferences" to my account-authenticator and account_preferences.xml looks like so: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <PreferenceScreen xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <PreferenceCategory android:title="@string/alum_settings_title"/> <CheckBoxPreference android:key="sync_alum" android:title="@string/sync_alum" android:summaryOn="@string/sync_alum_check" android:summaryOff="@string/sync_alum_nocheck"/> <ListPreference android:key="sync_alum_since" android:title="@string/alum_years" android:entries="@array/years" android:entryValues="@array/years" android:dependency="sync_alum"/> </PreferenceScreen> The checkbox preference works exactly like it should but the ListPreference crashes the entire system with the following message: 05-14 22:32:16.794: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(63): android.view.WindowManager$BadTokenException: Unable to add window -- token null is not for an application I get the same error with EditTextPreference and with the custom subclass of DialogPreference I created.

Programmatically convert WAV

Hi, I'm writing a file compressor utility in C++ that I want support for PCM WAV files, however I want to keep it in PCM encoding and just convert it to a lower sample rate and change it from stereo to mono if applicable to yield a lower file size. I understand the WAV file header, however I have no experience or knowledge of the actual sound data works. So my question is, would it be relatively easy to programmatically manipulate the "data" sub-chunk in a WAV file to convert it to another sample rate and change the channel number, or would I be much better off using an existing library for it? If it is, then how would it be done? Thanks in advance.

Couldn't get connection factory client - fighting with Google Maps

another day another problem, I finally managed to set up correctly google maps on my android application, or at least I thought I've done it, the whole progam starts, it even call the class which should "print" a map, but the only thing I can see is a grid with google label on it [ in the corner ]. I've checked the dalvik monitor and the error E/MapActivity(394): Couldn't get connection factory client occurs. I've find out on stackoverflow website that I should sent a gps signal or sth like this from dalvik monitor, and I've done it. Why does Java read its default settings from the system

Java is reading the locale, timezone and encoding information (and perhaps more) from the system it is installed on. This often brings bad surprises (brought me one just yesterday). Say your development and production servers are set to have TimeZone GMT+2. Then you deploy on a production server set to GMT. a 2-hour shift may not be easy to observe immediately. And although you can pass a TimeZone to your calendars, APIs might be instantiating calendars (or dates) using the default timezone. Now, I know one should be careful with these settings, but are easy to miss, hence make programs more error-prone. So, why doesn't Java have its own defaults - UTF-8, GMT, en_US (yes, I'm on non-en_US locale, but having it as default is fine). Applications could read the system settings via some API, if needed. Thus programs would be more predictable. So, what is the reason behind this decision?

very large string in memory

Hi, I am writing a program for formatting 100s of MB String data (nearing a gig) into xml == And I am required to return it as a response to an HTTP (GET) request . I am using a StringWriter/XmlWriter to build an XML of the records in a loop and returning the stringWriter.ToString() during testing I saw a few --out of memory exceptions-- and quite clueless on how to find a solution? do you guys have any suggestions for a memory optimized delivery of the response? is there a memory efficient way of encoding the data? or maybe chunking the data -- I just can not think of how to return it without building the whole thing into one HUGE string object thanks

Any suggestions?

XML url link in Flash

Hi, I am new to XML and am having a small problem in Flash. I have a number of buttons. Each of these buttons need to open up a different URL which is in a xml file (I have added only one button for now (banstead), as I wasn´t sure how to add more). Storing a SHA512 Password Hash in Database

In my ASP.NET web app I'm hashing my user passwords with SHA512. Despite much SO'ing and Googling I'm unclear how I should be storing them in the database (SQL2005) - the code below shows the basics of how I'm creating the hash as a string and I'm currently inserting it into the database into a Char(88) column as that seems to be the length created consistently Is holding it as a String the best way to do it, if so will it always be 88 chars on a SHA512 (as I have seen some bizarre stuff on Google)? Using DotNetZip Library unzip file with non ASCII characters

I'm trying to unzip a file, using DotNetZip Library. The file contains folders and files with danish characters (æøåÆØÅ). TotalCommander, 7Zip, Windows own zip all extract the files correctly, but DotNetZip Library mangles the danish characters. Ex: File_æøåÆØÅ.txt becomes File_æ¢åÆ¥Å.txt insted of aø it contains a ¢. insted of a Ø it contains a ¥. Code: using (var zipFile = ZipFile.Read(@"File_æøåÆØÅ.zip")) { zipFile.ExtractAll(@"File_æøåÆØÅ", ExtractExistingFileAction.OverwriteSilently); } I'm using the default encoding("da-DK" culture), I have tried other encodings like UTF8 etc. How can I unzip a file containing filenames with Danish characters?

Please suggest some free tools or some in build feature in Eclipse for intellisense of xml. Get XAML from WPF Custom RichTextFormat

I've looked at other posts, but i cant seem to find something that works. I have a custom control WPF RichTextBox and would like to obtain the XAML from this control. I have tried the following //rt is the name of this particular custom richtextbox TextRange range = new TextRange(rt.Document.ContentStart, rt.Document.ContentEnd); MemoryStream stream = new MemoryStream(); range.Save(stream, DataFormats.Xaml); string xamlText = Encoding.UTF8.GetString(stream.ToArray()); return xamlText; but this doesnt seem to work :s I can access the rt.Document.Content start etc but it seems to crash there "Object Reference not set to instance of an object". I am using the richtextbox directly from the .xaml.cs so it should be initiated and so on :s. Any Ideas or other ways to get the XAML from a richtextbox pls? (i'm requiring the XAML cos i actually want to get the HTML.. if theres some other direct manner perhaps?)

I auto generated an xsd file from the below xml and used xsd2code to get a c# class. The problem is the entire xml doesn't deserialize. Perl Encode - UK

This is a part 2 question from This Question. So I'm trying out the :encode functionality but having no luck at all. use Encode; # Should print: iso-8859-15 print "Latin-9 Encoding: ".find_encoding("latin9")->name."\n"; my $encUK = encode("iso-8859-15", "UK €"); print "Encoded UK: ".$encUK."\n"; Results: Encoded UK: UK € Shouldn't the results be encoded? what am I doing wrong here? EDIT: Added the suggested: use utf8; and now I get this: Encoded UK: UK ? pulling hair out now :/
