    Improve the name to match positively Starting just discussing the naming first ignoring tech details, lossless is a negative and double negative word for one good reason should get named more appropriate: Lossless also matches nothing. When naming like all intact or likewise matches something in a manner more physical like sounds are. Then more technically stated that a copy might contain more information than the original. Does method as such have a name, if so what do I refer to, can we name it if you please or just discuss related handling.

  • How to run a powershell script within a DOS batch file

    How do I have a powershell script embedded within the same file as a DOS batch script? I know this kind of thing is possible in other scenarios: Embedding SQL in a DOS batch script using sqlcmd and a clever arrangements of goto's and comments at the beginning of the file In a *nix environment having a the name of the program you wish to run the script with on the first line of the script commented out e.g. #!/usr/local/bin/python There may not be a way to do this - in which case I will have to call the separate powershell script from the launching DOS script. One possible solution I've considered is to echo out the powershell script, and then run it. A good reason to not do this is that part of the reason to attempt this is to be using the advantages of the powershell environment without the pain of, for example, DOS escape characters I have some unusual constraints and would like to find an elegant solution. I suspect this question may be baiting responses of the variety: "why don't you try and solve this different problem instead." Suffice to say these are my constraints, sorry about that. Any ideas? Is there a suitable combination of clever comments and escape characters that will enable me to achieve this? Some thoughts on how to achieve this: A carat ^ at the end of a line in DOS is a continuation - like an underscore in VB An ampersand & in DOS typically is used to separate commands echo Hello & echo World results in 2 echos on separate lines %0 will give you the script that's currently running So something like this (if I could make it work) would be good: # & call powershell -psconsolefile %0 # & goto :EOF /* From here on in we're running nice juicy powershell code */ Write-Output "Hello World" Except... It doesn't work... because the extension of the file isn't as per powershell's liking: Windows PowerShell console file "insideout.bat" extension is not psc1. Windows PowerShell console file extension must be psc1. DOS isn't really altogether happy with the situation either - although it does stumble on '#' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

  • More efficient programming than Web.py?

    I love webpy, it's really quite Pythonic but I don't like having to add the url mappings and create a class, typically with just 1 function inside it. I'm interested in minimising code typing and prototyping fast. Does anyone have any up and coming suggestions such as Bobo, Bottle, Denied, cherrypy for a lover of webpy's good things? What makes it a good reason? Also I don't mind missing out (strongly) text based templating systems, I use object oriented HTML generation.

  • NSXMLparser errorcode 5

    Hi, I'm using Amazon's simpledb in my app. When parsing xml it gives an error with the code 5. ie. NSXMLParserErrorDomain error 5. Sometimes it works fine and without any significant change in the navigation is gives that error. Again it works fine when i restart the app several times without doing any changes to the code or navigation in the system. I cant figure out the reason why this happens. thanks

  • can I access a struct inside of a struct without using the dot operator?

    I have 2 structures that have 90% of their fields the same. I want to group those fields in a structure but I do not want to use the dot operator to access them. The reason is I already coded with the first structure and have just created the second one. before: struct{ int a; int b; int c; object1 name; } str1; struct{ int a; int b; int c; object2 name; } str2; now I would create a third struct: struct{ int a; int b; int c; } str3; and would change the str1 and atr2 to this: struct{ str3 str; object1 name; } str1; struct { str3 str; object2 name; } str2; Finally I would like to be able to access a,b and c by doing: str1 myStruct; myStruct.a; myStruct.b; myStruct.c; and not: myStruct.str.a; myStruct.str.b; myStruct.str.c; Is there a way to do such a thing. The reason for doing this is I want keep the integrety of the data if chnges to the struct were to occur and to not repeat myself and not have to change my existing code and not have fields nested too deeply. RESOLVED: thx for all your answers.     Hi All, I am using WMI to get SMBIOS data and for that I am using following code to initialize the IWbemLocator interface through a call to CoCreateInstance. CoCreateInstance(CLSID_WbemLocator, 0, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, IID_IWebLocator, (LPVOID *) &pLoc); But it always returns FAILURE.   • How do I get django comments to join on auth_user

    I'm using the django comments framework, and when I list the comments I want to include some of the information stored in auth_user. However, I find I need an extra query for each comment to get the user info. I tried using select_related() when I pull the comments, but this doesn't help. Is there a reason that it's not joining the auth_user table, and is there any way to force it to?
