  • Problems with wireless file copy - hangs during copy

    I have this problem on my home network where when I try to copy files via wireless connection, at some point the copy fails and the machine doing the copy loses connection to the network. I'm pretty much lost as to figuring out the source for the problem... Some more details that might help: It's not OS related. I have Windows 7 machines and Leopard machines and this occurs on both I'm using a 3com OfficeConnect router Wired transfer works fine Other programs that require heavy wireless traffic work just fine:streaming large HD movies, Xbox Live! ... I'm lost as to how to even begin trying to diagnose the problem so any tips are welcome...

How do I send queries to an SQL database from Lotus Notes (v6.5.5), in order to retrieve the email addresses?     After upgrading to OS X 10.9 Mavericks, ant is no longer on my path.   • New user profile creation error - Windows cannot open *.exe

    I have a windows 7 laptop with the user "mydomain\boy" that cannot log in to the laptop. the error message is something like "User profile service cannot log in the user boy". I then logged in with the domain admin account "mydomain\admin" and then went to delete the "mydomain\boy" from my computer system properties advance system settings user profiles settings. I also ensure that the user is deleted from control panel user accounts. I then also deleted the user folder c:\users\boy I also checked that the registry at this location HKLM\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\profilelist\ and ensure that there is no entry for boy. I followed http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215 using the method 3 "fix it for me" but does not seem to do anything. (or i don't know how to use it). AFTER EVERYTHING DONE ABOVE... Everytime i log in with a new user, be it boy, girl or anything other domain account (other than the admin account already created when I first logged in to begin the fix/break), it takes a long time, and when the "preparing desktop" goes away, it starts to exe cannot open error e.g. regsvr.exe etc.. file association problem with exe QUESTION (phew finally..): Please tell me how to fix it?     I know that the -k option for the Unix sort allow us to sort by a specific column and all of the following. For instance, given the input file: 2 3 2 2 1 2 2 1 1 1 Using sort -n -k 1, I get an output sorted by the 1st column and then by the 2nd: 1 1 1 2 2 1 2 2 2 3 However, I want to keep the 2nd column ordering, like this: 1 2 1 1 2 3 2 2 2 1 Is this possible with the sort command?

  • Installing Windows 7 on an Asus EeePC 1008HA

    I'm planning to install Windows 7 on my Asus EeePC 1008HA netbook. I heard that there were some issues with RC1, but other than that have not had much luck finding help with this specific hardware. The closest I've found is this article for the similar 1005HA. I can find XP drivers and have them downloaded just in case. Also (obviously) I've backed up everything on the machine. Anyone on here got any experience with Windows 7 on an Asus EeePC 1008HA? Anyone know whether the reported issues with RC1 have been fixed by the RTM and driver updates?

  • unusual backspace behavior in mac terminal

    I'm trying to figure out how to get ssh sessions to work how I want using the terminal app on mac os x. I'm used to using PuTTY on windows, where backspace means backspace. On mac when I press delete/backspace on mac it deletes the character following the cursor instead of the one before. I turned on Delete sends Ctrl + H, and that works most of the time, but sometimes it just shows on the screen as ^H this is typically at prompts from some custom python scripts on the box I log into. This doesn't happen with PuTTY on windows. Btw I'm logging into a Ubuntu Linux server running openssh. Any idea what I need to do so that backspace is consistently backspace.

    If you have a hard disk image (including partition table, multiple partitions,...), is it possible to let Linux treat it as a regular hard disk? By "regular hard disk" I mean I would like to have the image show up as, for instance, /dev/hdx and its partitions as /dev/hdx1,... (I know I can mount one of the partitions in the image using "mount -o loop,offset=x ..." but I don't really like this option.)

I tried the following command: reg add "HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload" /v 3 /d 00000804 except that the keyboard defaults to Chinese Simplified - US keyboard. Does anyone know how if there is any other registry key I need to change in order to get the New Experience Input to show up in the Language Bar?

    I used to love Bugmenot...but then they started blocking more and more sites. Now I'd say a good 75% of the time I try to find logins on bugmenot, the site is blocked. Is there a service like bugmenot that doesn't block sites? EDIT: For example, all of these sites require registration to download files, and all of them are blocked from BugMeNot. To be clear, this problem is because BugMeNot stops users from adding logins for them, not because of the individual sites themselves: dcemu.co.uk, ubuntuforums.org, club.cdfreaks.com

  • TTY Resolution in Xubuntu 9.10

    I've exhausted my ability to search through Google for this, so I'm giving it a go here. What I'm trying to do is increase the resolution (or decrease the font size) in the TTY terminals. Xubuntu 9.10 uses GRUB2, and everywhere I can find directs me to edit the /etc/default/grub File in order to add vga=XXX to the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX value, and this simply doesn't work. Out of endless fiddling with the file, nothing ever seems to change. On my Netbook running an earlier version, I had success with this command dpkg-reconfigure console-setup But once again it yields no change. Got any ideas?

  • Sony VAIO TZ2 internal camera and Windows XP

    I have a Sony Vaio TZ2 laptop here and I'm trying to install Windows XP SP3 on it. Everything works fine except of the integrated camera which is supposed to be a USB device but is absent in the Devoice Manager. I've read that it is important in what order you install drivers when you downgrade this Vista preinstalled model to Windows XP so I repeated once again the installation with the correct order by still had no luck with the camera. Can someone give me an advice on how to woke up this camera? Thanks!

  • Cannot run setups from a vboxsvr mapped network drive on Windows within VirtualBox

    I'm trying to run an application setup by double-clicking the setup.exe from within Windows Explorer. The file is located on a mapped network drive, and I'm using Windows 7. This results in the following error message: The specified path does not exist. Check the path, and then try again. The workaround I found is to copy the installer to the main hard drive (c:) and run it from there; however, this is rather inconvenient. I have the impression that the problem only occurs with installers, as everything seemed to work fine with regular exe's. Is there anyone who can explain this odd behavior? Update: After some extended tests I noticed that the problem only occurs with a mapped drive of VirtualBox's "shared folders" (cf. vboxsvr; VirtualBox v3.1.4). Mapping an SMB drive works fine. Update: The same problem occurs on Windows Vista.

  • Kde no sound from Phonon or most KDE apps but mplayer,skype and firefox are ok

    Can somebody tell me why I cannot get any sound with most of KDE 4? I'm running a Gentoo box, I'm in both the 'audio' and 'video' groups. I can get sound with mplayer ( but not smplayer ) Firefox and Skype but nothing else. I can't get the test sound to play from the settings window, but Phonon is not whining about broken sound cards when I start up. I have checked with kmix, we seem to be completely unmuted ( and I can get sound with some apps)

  • "TMGR is Missing" after repair-installing Windows XP

    Hello there, I have two OSes installed in my computer. - Windows XP Professional - Windows 7 Ultimate (Release Candidate 1/Build 7100) I used the Windows 7 boot loader by default to choose between OSes. When I was using my WinXP, my computer gets lagged suddenly and continuously, and the only way to fix it is by repair-installing it (because I've experienced this many times before, but without W7 installed). Everything goes OK. But when my XP was successfully reinstalled, I cannot boot my Windows 7 anymore. Every time I tried to boot the harddisk that contains W7, an error appeared. "TMGR is Missing". Now I have no idea how can I get back to my Windows 7. Any kind of help would be appreciated! :)

    I'm running Windows Vista HP 32-bit on my laptop right now (used to have Windows 7 Ultimate RC 32-bit). The thing is, I miss the fact that in Windows 7, UAC could be adjusted so that the whole screen doesn't dim when UAC activates. Is there software or a tweak that I could use to stop the whole screen from dimming when UAC goes on?
