Are the RAM module or CPU required to boot the motherboard? What is the minimal configuration to boot into BIOS? The motherboard I need to boot is a mediocre ASUS socket LGA775.
Is it possible using Cacti to have it give you a list of machines that meet a certain criteria? For example, what are the machines that have had an average cpu load over 50% during the past week? What machines have 5% free disk space? etc. etc.
I haven't been able to find any suitable plugins, does anyone know of anything that can perform this task?
i'am having IBM server with Redhat 5 ElsmP connected to the IBM Storage over iSCSI (in sdb ) can someone explain this output from iostat command

move large file to sdb very slowly,it seem normaly?
I recently built this new PC but I notice most games are not running as well as I had hopped, Tribes, Skyrim, Saints Row the Third and Serious Sam 3 for example. Some have really bad FPS like 60-30, dipping frequently.
I notice my Motherboard has a lot of updates, I'm hoping this will help.
CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K 3.4GHz | GPU: Radeon HD 6950 | Mobo: Asus P8Z77-V LX | RAM: Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz
I have a win 2K3 domain controller that has sudddenly started logging about 60 events a second. All events are ID 538, 540 and 576
All events pertain to Security Audit of the machine itself logging in successfully. a typical entry is
Event Id 540
Successful Network Logon:
User Name: <machinename>$
Any pointers to how I can diagnose this? CPU and memory are normal on the machine.
I found question on how to spoof user agent. I dont' want to spoof only user agent. I want to spoof everything from user agent, to Accept headers to http headers and also the information javascript can tell about browser - screen resolution and depth, class cpu, platform, device name, etc.
Do you know of a way to achieve this in any browser out there ? I don't want 10 plugins to achieve this. I'd like unified way.
I'm currently assigned the task of standardizing new laptops before deploying them to the field. Are there certain guidelines to evaluating a new test laptop. As for example, the processor speed, the applications used, the load on the CPU and RAM.
I'm coming from a PC, loaded with a Core 2 Quad CPU and 8GB of DDR2 RAM. I was running Premiere CS3.
I'm new to Mac so I'm not sure if this will help performance: Will increasing my 21.5" Core 2 Duo iMac's memory from 4GB (DDR3) to 8GB improve performance of Premiere CS4 significantly? I am not impressed with Premiere as it is now. The iMac is the newest one as of this post.
Hi, I've read that you can run a 64bit guest OS on a 32bit host OS through virtualisation (if the CPU/BIOS supports it etc...).
Now I ask myself: How many RAM can the guest OS use/allocate? (assuming 4GB+ RAM)
Thanks in advance.
Instead of restarting the whole MYSQL process, sometimes I just want to kill the offending thread instead of making everything go down. Usually the spike in CPU is when a bot is crawling the first pages of pagination of my site (over 70.000 paginated results, 45 items per page).
Is there a way I could do this automatically using monit and innotop? I couldn't find relevant information on Google, that's why I'm asking here. If these two tools aren't par to the task, which ones should I use?
I often encounter the words load and fetch in contexts where data are being read from some source, and they seem to have slightly different meanings. What's the difference?
I've done some research and couldn't find any specific technical difference in general usage. While the term fetch can refer to one stage in CPU instruction execution, I've seen it used in contexts not related to CPUs, and I'm looking for an answer that is not specific to CPUs.
I just finished reading the subject post (http://superuser.com/questions/319859/remotely-turning-on-or-rebooting-a-frozen-computer) and have further questions.
I very interested in remote access to my server, in particular restarting it when it is in a stalled or blue-screen state..
How can I determine if my server is AMT enabled? It has a GIGABYTE GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 Motherboard and Intel Core i5-2500K CPU.
Thanks....RDK45
I have a server that has been running at high CPU load due to MySQL activity, when i run the command mysqladmin pr i often see a few queries with the state "writing to net". I had a look around and couldn't find much out about this other than the fact i read somewhere that this shouldnt be expected in usual MySQL activity. Any ideas what this could mean?
Running MySQL 5.0.91-community on CentOS 4.8
I've setup a server which I've connected to multiple PCs in my workplace. Sadly, data transfer speeds are at max 3 MB/sec per connection which works out slow for file transfers, especially when transferring large files. I'm using Windows filesharing and the server is a Windows Server 2008 (2 Ghz CPU, 1 GB RAM) and the client PCs mostly running Windows 7. How can I detect bottlenecks in my network and improve file sharing speed within the network?
Not a top performance pc but not a low end pc either. I guess you can get a passively cooled video card and a ssd drive, but what about the cpu and the power supply?
I have a Server running Ubuntu 10.10 Server-Edition kvm, and libvirt (both ubuntu-native packages)
HDD-Partitioning was done with LVM. Then I created some VMs with Virt-Manager and assigned LVM-Volumes to the VMs.
Now the VMs do not boot. Virt-Manager shows a CPU-Usage of 100% for this Guest and the VNC-Connection states
Booting from Hard Disk
The VM-specific logfiles do not show any abnormality only syslog shows a warning
warning : qemudParsePCIDeviceStrs:1422 : Unexpected exit status '1', qemu probably failed
What can I do to find the error?
I'm trying to run LKL (Linux Keyboard Logger) in a Ubuntu 9.04 VirtualBox VM
(VirtualBox 2.2.2 running on a XP host). The package installs
fine, but when I try to run it
lkl -l -k /usr/share/lkl/keymaps/us_km -o ./kbd.log &
it hogs the CPU usage to 50% and never logs a keystroke (in fact the
kbd.log file is never created)
Any clues?
TIA
What would be an appropriate power supply and form factor for those specifications below?

How costly (CPU or memory wise) is it to have multiple instances of SQL server 2005 instead of only one instance with prefixed databases?
A company have three application providers. They each will install one application and they each require two or three databases. Should they all use the same instance or should every provider use it's own named instance?
Is there any strong reason for one or other setup?
Does 7-Zip take advantage of multiprocessor or multi-core systems when compressing?
For example, would there be a close to 16 times speed-up on a 16 core system assuming no disk or memory bottlenecks?
Or is it is limited to 2 threads (2 times speed-up on systems with more than one CPU or core)?
We have a win 7 home prem pc, amd cpu, 8G ram, plenty of free disk space. Whenever user is working in publisher 20003, and tries to save a publisher 2003 document to the desktop, the save as dialog hangs and takes 2-3 minutes to display the desktop save location. I've tested excel 2003, it has no problems immediately displaying the desktop save as location and saving the file.
72 ppi is nothing. And we have been stuck with this for 20 years. Why do we need to resort to stupid tech like anti-aliasing instead of resolving the core of the issue, more pixels per inch!!!
It is really surprising considering all the progress cpu's, video cards, etc. have made.
When considering obtaining a new computer one of my prerequisites is the ability to load Windows 8 in a virtual machine (using VirtualBox). A prerequisite for that is that the host computer have virtualization technology. I located an Intel cross reference of chips having virtualization technology but I am trying to find a "higher level" cross reference between computer models and virtualization technology availability, skipping the extra step of having to first look up what CPU chip is in a machine, then cross-referencing that on Intel's list.
Every time the game is about to start it says that I have lost my connection to EA's servers with the following message:
Make sure your network adapter and network cable is plugged in.
Although my connection works perfectly but when it comes to online gaming it messes up everything.
My System specifications:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30GHz
4096MB RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Internet connection of 2Mbps
Can you help me to sort it out?
