  • How to compare 2 similar strings letter by letter and highlight the differences?

    We have 2 databases that should have matching tables. I have an (In-Production) report that compares these fields and displays them to the user in an MS-Access form (continuous form style) for correction. This is all well and good except it can be difficult to find the differences. How can I format these fields to bold/italicize/color the differences? "The lazy dog jumped over a brown fox." "The lazy dog jumped over the brown fox." (It's easier to see the differences between 2 similiar text fields once they are highlighted in some way) "The lazy dog jumped over a brown fox." "The lazy dog jumped over the brown fox. " Since we're talking about a form in MS Access, I don't have high hopes. But I know I'm not the first person to have this problem. Suggestions?

    Sometimes, no "foo" directory is left after running this code: string folder = Path.Combine(Path.GetTempPath(), "foo"); if (!Directory.Exists(folder)) Directory.CreateDirectory(folder); Process.Start(@"c:\windows\explorer.exe", folder); Thread.Sleep(TimeSpan.FromSeconds(5)); Directory.Delete(folder, false); Directory.CreateDirectory(folder); It seems Windows Explorer keeps a reference to the folder, so the last CreateDirectory has nothing to do, but then the original folder is deleted. How can I fix the code?

  • Why does iTunes make 2 copies of my music when adding to library?

    I set iTunes to "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" and to "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" because I prefer to keep my music consolidated, organized, and consistent. However, when I have MP3s that are external to iTunes, then try to add via File Add Folder to Libary, iTunes creates 2 copies of the file in the iTunes folder - one with the original song name and another with the original song name followed by the number 1. Here is what I thought would happen, and I hope is possible: 1) Click File Add Folder to Library 2) Select folder external to iTunes 3) Click OK 4) iTunes creates a clean new folder in the iTunes Music directory with exactly 1 of each file 5) Only 1 of each song is shown within iTunes Is this too much to ask? I am not an iTunes fan at all after 2 years dealing with the poor programming of this application. I hope someone can help me find the faith...

    I have read that Haskell parser combinators (in Parsec) can parse context sensitive grammars. Is this also true for Scala parser combinators? If so, is this what the "into" (aka "") function is for? What are some strengths/weaknesses of Scala's implementation of parser combinators, vs Haskell's? Do they accept the same class of grammars? Is it easier to generate error messages or do other miscellaneous useful things with one or the other? How does packrat parsing (introduced in Scala 2.8) fit into this picture? Is there a webpage or some other resource that shows how different operators/functions/DSL-sugar from one language's implementation maps onto the other's?

Components either return some collections from parameters given for further visualizing or just produce reports mentioned above. 2. I need to push changes for the filter I mentioned in 1 and update table in production database for this filter only ( ie for the particular list approved by content person). Again probably there are certain SQL code generators - components in addition to diffs or standalone. 3. The key thing tools/libraries - should be suitable for integration with the existing application in C#.

Folder 0 |----- Folder 1 | |----- File1.zip | |----- File2.zip | |----- File3.zip | |----- Folder 2 | |----- File4.zip | |----- Folder 3 |----- File5.zip |----- FileN.zip So, I wish that my batch file is launched like so: ocd.bat /d="Folder 0" Then, make it iterate from within the batch file through all of the subfolders to unzip the files exactly where the .zip files are located. So here's my question: Does the Windows (from XP at least) have a command line for its embedded zip tool? Otherwise, shall I stick to another third-party util?

  • Is there an easy way to compare if 2 XDocuments are equal ignoring element/attribute order?

    Unit testing my serialization code I found one failed because I had attributes listed in a different order (I'm just comparing the XDocument.ToString() values) and while I could fix that, it really doesn't matter to me in what order the elements or attributes appear as long as they're all there with the right name at the right level of hierarchy. I could probably write a method do this, but I'm wondering if there's an easy built in way I'm not aware of.

  • What is the fastest way to compare two list of items?

    I have two folders with approximately 10,000 files each. I'd like to write a script or program that can tell me if these folders are in sync and then tell me what files are missing from each to make them in sync. Therefore, after generating a list of files, what is the fastest algorithm to sort them for unique files? What I'm thinking right now is comparing the first file on each list then if they are different remove one until they are the same, then remove both from the list (because they are not unique.) Is there a faster algorithm then this?

    Hi everyone (my first post!), I have an HQL question (in Groovy/Grails) I was hoping someone could help me with. I have a simple Asset object with a one-to-many Tags collection. class Asset { Set tags static hasMany = [tags:Tag] } class Tag { String name } What I'm trying to do in HQL: A user passes in some tags in params.tags (ex: groovy grails rocks) and wants to return Asset(s) that have those tags, and only those exact tags. Here's my HQL that returns Assets if one or more of the tags are present in an Assets tags: SELECT DISTINCT a FROM Asset a LEFT JOIN a.tags t WHERE t IN (:tags) assetList = Asset.executeQuery( hql, [tags:tokenizedTagListFromParams] The above code works perfect, but its really like an OR. If any of the tag(s) are found, it will return that Asset. I only want to return Assets that have those exact same tags (in number as well). Every time a new tag is created, I new Tag(name:xxx).save() so I can get the Tag instances and unique ID's for each tag that was asked for. I also tried converting the passed in tags to a list of Tag instances with Tag.findByName(t1) for each tag, and also a list of (unique) Tag Id's into the HQL above with no luck.   • IIS7 301 Redirect from a List of URLs

    Recent changes are forcing me to add a bunch of 301 redirects. Seems that IIS7 is my best bet as compared to redirects within the files. I have found how to add them 1 by 1 but this requires the page/folder to exist (which most don't anymore(and creating them seems to defeat the point of the redirect)) and does not work on dynamic urls. I also cannot go to every page and add the redirects at the page level because some older pages are in php which is no longer supported on the new server.     I use embedded servers that run inside Junit test cases. Sometimes these servers require a working directory (for example the Apache Directory server). The new @Rule in Junit 4.7 can handle these cases. The TemporaryFolder-Rule can create a temporary directory. A custom ExternalResource-Rule can be created for server. However this does not work because Junit processes the rules in reverse order as they are defined in the file. The TemporaryFolder Rule will not be executed before the server Rule. Thus the root-folder in TempraryFolder will be null, resulting that any files are created relative to the current working directory. If I reverse the order of the attributes in my class I get a compile error because I cannot reference a variable before it is defined. I'm using Junit 4.8.1 (because the ordering of rules was fixed a bit from the 4.7 release)
