• Custom Errors "Could no load type error"

  I am creating ASP.Net MVC application and want to handle errors globally. I have set web.config value as mode=On and defaulRedirect="Error.aspx". I have Error.aspx at two places. One at Views/Shared folder and one at project root folder level. But each time an unhandled error occurs, the error page at root level gets called. How can I make it redirect to the one at Shared folder level? I want to do this becasuse, currently I am getting error as "could not load type System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage" when any error is occuring. • Fuzzy string matching algorithm in Python

  Hi guys, I'm trying to find some sort of a good, fuzzy string matching algorithm. Direct matching doesn't work for me — this isn't too good because unless my strings are a 100% similar, the match fails. The Levenshtein method doesn't work too well for strings as it works on a character level. I was looking for something along the lines of word level matching e.g. String A: The quick brown fox. String B: The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog. These should match as all words in string A are in string B. Now, this is an oversimplified example but would anyone know a good, fuzzy string matching algorithm that works on a word level. Thanks in advance.

• Why is FxCop warning about an overflow (CA2233) in this C# code?

  I have the following function to get an int from a high-byte and a low-byte: public static int FromBytes(byte high, byte low) { return high * (byte.MaxValue + 1) + low; } When I analyze the assembly with FxCop, I get the following critical warning: CA2233: OperationsShouldNotOverflow Arithmetic operations should not be done without first validating the operands to prevent overflow. I can't see how this could possibly overflow, so I am just assuming FxCop is being overzealous. Am I missing something? And what steps could be taken to correct what I have (or at least make the FxCop warning go away!)?

  Hi everyone. I'm having hard time with Xhtml Strict 1.0 and Css. And I'm almost out of solutions. My Site Url: http://www.pro-turk.net/beta/ I made a jquery multilevel dropdown menu for my site. It looks like OK, but I have used inline-block property of css display attribute on navigation menu which is a part of css 2.1 and isn't supported by some browsers (including ie6 and ie7). I want to make #nav li elements block level elements, but to do this and having all of them in same line, the only way is using float in #nav li. But I want to center them in their parent (the menu bar). So I need something like float:center (I know it's pretty stupid and doesn't exist). But is there a way to include block level elements as children elements without linebreaks (I mean without making a block level element). Regards.

• LocalUser access for WCF hosted in IIS

  I have tried every combination to allow unauthenticated access to WCF as in "LocalUser" accounts, in IIS without success. Here is what I've most recently tried: wsHttpBinding with Message security and mode set to "None". IIS anonymous access enabled, all others disabled, folder level access at default (but granted read access to "Users" which is all users in our domain). I understand I may not have provided enough information to solve the issue, but perhaps somebody can point me in the right direction - is this likely to be a IIS configuration issue or a WCF configuration issue... if WCF, is it likely to be a client level or server level issue? The error I get when attempting to access here is "User is not authenticated". We have ASMX services in the domain which are behaving properly, I am the first developer using WCF here.

Out of curiosity I'd like to know why Django's testrunner is limited to the doctests in models.py, but more practically I'd like to know how one could expand the testrunner's doctests to include (for example) views.py and other modules when running manage.py test. • Why does the jQuery on this page work for Internet Explorer 8, but nothing else?

  I made a web page that uses jQuery: http://benmccormack.com/demo/MichaelMassPsalm/Psalm16Mode5.html When you change the selection in the combo box from Higher Key to Lower Key, all of the music images are supposed to change their source to be images that represent the lower key signature. This works great in IE8, but it won't work in Safari, Firefox, or Chrome. Why not? • How can I save BioPerl sequence nested features in genbank or embl format?

  In BioPerl, a sequence object can have any number of features, and each of these can have subfeatures nested within them. For example, a feature may be a complete coding sequence of a gene, and its subfeatures might be individual exons that are concatenated to form the full coding sequence. However, when I use BioPerl to write a sequence object to a file in genbank or embl format, only the top-level features are written to the file, not the sub-features nested within the top-level features. How can I store my subfeatures in sequence files? Should I just convert all my subfeatures into top-level features, and then reconstruct the tree structure next time I read in the sequence?

• emacs indentation in asm mode

  I am looking for the equivalent of c-indent-level and ruby-indent-level, for asm-mode. That is, I want to force the indentation to 4 spaces, and I want them to be replaced with blanks. What I've seen tells me it does not exist for asm-mode. Could someone please tell me this is wrong? I tried this also: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/69934/set-4-space-indent-in-emacs-in-text-mode , to no av. I have tried: (setq tab-width 4) (setq indent-line-function 'insert-tab) (setq asm-indent-level 4) This works however: (custom-set-variables '(tab-stop-list (quote (4 8 12 16 20 24 28 32 36 40 44 48 52 56 60 64 68 72 76 80 84 88 92 96 100 104 108 112 116 120)))) But I wonder if there is a way to define that for asm-mode only. What if I wanted to keep the default tab behaviour for other modes?

• WCF: What is the practical difference between transport and message reliability?

  Hello I am looking at differences between using WPF in .NET or using Silverlight 4 for the GUI front end of an app that connects to WCF services. I have read that net.tcp binding in Silverlight 4 only supports transport level reliability. With a WPF desktop app we can use message level reliability. What is the actual difference? If transport level reliability ensures that all TCP packets get through, doesnt that also mean that all WCF SOAP messages will also get through? I am also concerned that Silverlight only supports async message but thats a different issue. Thanks

  Hi all, I am trying to get started with JSON in Python, but it seems that I misunderstand something in the JSON concept. I followed the google api example, which works fine. But when I change the code to a lower level in the JSON response (as shown below, where I try to get access to the location), I get the following error message for code below: Traceback (most recent call last): File "geoCode.py", line 11, in test = json.dumps([s['location'] for s in jsonResponse['results']], indent=3) KeyError: 'location' How can I get access to lower information level in the JSON file in python? Do I have to go to a higher level and search the result string? That seems very weird to me?   I want to show only the very top level forums on my front page. I have tried: <?php if ( bb_forums("depth=1") ) : ?> But that didn't work and all the forums still show up. I only want to show the very top level, so for example if I have the following forums: Main - Sub Forum 1 - Sub Forum 2 --- Sub Forum 2.1 --- Sub Forum 2.1 - Sub Forum 3 Community - Sub Forum 1 - Sub Forum 2 --- Sub Forum 2.1 --- Sub Forum 2.1 - Sub Forum 3 Only Main and Community would appear on the home page. I would seem I need to create a custom loop on the front page that will only show the very top level forums, but I need some help. Thanks.

  I would like to be able to pop multiple views from a UITableViewController stack. For example in the Apple DrillDownSave example, when viewing Level 3 to go back to Level 1 or when viewing an Item to go back to Level 2 when a button is pushed. I tried: [self.navigationController.parentViewController.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated: NO]; [self.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated: NO]; and [self.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated: NO]; [self.navigationController.parentViewController.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated: NO]; but these leave me the same place as just a single popViewControllerAnimated:. Is there an easy way to do this?

  I'd like to be able to do a code-level diff between two assemblies; the Diff plug-in for Reflector is the closest thing I've found so far, but to compare the entire assembly is a manual process requiring me to drill-down into every namespace/class/method. The other tools I've found so far appear to be limited to API-level (namespaces, classes, methods) differences--which won't cut it for what I'm looking for. Does anyone know of such a tool? My requirements (from highest to lowest) are: Be able to analyze / reflect the code content of two versions of the same assembly and report the differences Accept a folder or group of assemblies as input; quickly compare them (similar to WinMerge's folder diff's) Quick ability to determine if two assemblies are equivalent at the code level (not just the API's) Allow easy drill-down to view the differences Exporting of reports regarding the differences (Personally I like WinMerge for text diffs, so an application with a similar interface would be great)

  I have the following problem that needs to be solved in a MySQL query: Fields info - textfield date1 - a date field date2 - a date field offset1 - a text field with a number in the first two positions, example "10-High" offset2 - a text field with a number in the first two positions, example "10-High" I need to sort the records by the calculated "sortvalue" based on the current date (today): If today=date2 then sortvalue=offset1*10+offset2*5+1000 else sortvalue=offset1*10+offset2*5 I have quite good understanding of basic SQL with joins etc, but this I am not even sure if its possible...if it helps I could perhaps live with a single formula giving the same sort of effect as the IFs do....ie. before date1 = low value, after date2 = high value...   Hi All, is there a way to retrieve only the immediate children found by a call to DOMElement::getElementsByTagName? For example, I have an XML document that has a category element. That category element has sub category elements (which have the same structure), like: <category> <id>1</id> <name>Top Level Category Name</name> <subCategory> <id>2</id> <name>Sub Category Name</name> </subCategory> ... </category> If I have a DOMElement representing the top level category, $topLevelCategoryElement->getElementsByTagName('id'); will return a list with the nodes for all 'id' elements, where I want just the one from the top level. Any way to do this outside of using XPath?

• GetDeviceGammaRamp to adjust colors

  Hi, I overlay an OpenGL application (c++), this openGL application uses SetDeviceGammaRamp to set the brightness of the desktop to very high (dont know why). This application is fullscreen and looks good, but my overlay is very bright. Instead of the orange color with normal brightness, I get yellow because of the high gamma. What I want to do: Get the gamma that is currently set (using GetDeviceGammaRamp), and then use this to adjust the colors I set. Like; glColor4f(r, g, b, a) becomes glColor4f(r / gamma, g / gamma, b / gamma, a); So if the brightness of the desktop is very high, the r g and b values will be lower (darker) and will look like they should. How can I accomplish this? GetDeviceGammaRamp fills a table, how can I use it to modify my colors? Thanks

• Xcode 4: deleting items in Build Settings

  In XCode 4.0 there's a newly designed Build Settings page. My problem is that I can't see how to remove a setting once I've specified it. Example: I've changed "Versioning System" to "Apple Generic" at the target level. Afterwards I realised I should set it at the project level, and so I want to delete the target level setting. However, there's no way I can see to remove the setting -- you click on it and there's two options, neither of which is the default "not specified" empty setting. Hitting the delete key on the keyboard nothing. The same goes for fields that accept text -- if I try to delete a setting by just deleting all the text set, it still shows that field in green, but with no text in it, and regards it as the presence of a setting.

• Typecasting a floating value or using the math.h floor* functions?

  Hi, I am coding up an implementation of Interpolation Search in C. The question is actually rather simple, I need to use the floating operations to do linear interpolation to find the correct index which will eventually be an integer result. In particular my probe index is: t = i + floor((((k-low)/(high-low)) * (j-i))); where, i,j,k,t are unsigned ints, and high,low are doubles. Would this be equivalent to: t = i + (unsigned int)(((k-low)/(high-low)) * (j-i)); Is there any reason I would actually want to use math.h floor* functions over just a simple (int) typecast?
