• TinyMCE editor - line breaks not correct

  Hoping there's some TinyMCE guys in here ready to help. I'm using the BBCode plugin. I have the following lines in the editor window: This is line one This is line three Line two is empty. When I'm viewing this in HTML i get the following. This is line one This is line three Without the extra empty line. tinyMCE.init({ mode : "textareas", theme : "advanced", plugins : "bbcode", entity_encoding : "raw", remove_linebreaks : false, force_p_newlines : false, force_br_newlines : true, forced_root_block : '' }); What am I missing? • Using jQuery in a GridView?

  I have a traditional ASP.NET GridView. Inside of it I have a Template Field with edit capabilities. I need to use a jQuery autocomplete plugin on the edit piece. It works anywhere but inside of this GridView. In other words, I know the plugin works. • Javascript (JQuery) keyboard hijack problem

  I'm making a typing tutor program using javascript. Everything is going well except that if activates browser hotkeys which disrupts the functionality of the program. When I press the single quote in Firefox it triggers "Quick find (links only)" short cut and in all browsers when I press space the page scrolls down a page. Everything is working fine outside of this. • a4j:commandButton causes full page reload on IE7

  Our process allows users to activate their account, and then configure e-mail preferences. We're using the tag: <a4j:commandButton id="activate" action="#{controller.agreeAction}" image="/img/ok.png" styleClass="activate-button" reRender="mainContent, sideBar" oncomplete="showEmailDialog();" /> This works fine on Firefox, but on IE, the showEmaiDialog() fires off to display the new dialog, and then the full page reloads, which instantly hides it again. I put in numerous alert() calls to make sure of what was happening. I see the e-mail dialog until I clear the final alert box in in the showEmailDialog() script, and then I see the alerts that I put into jQuery(document).ready(). Why does IE do a full page reload instead of just refreshing the requested sections?

  Hey, I have been given a general explanation of how a computer boots up. However a very loose definition to the term 'boot file' was given. Could someone explain 'boot file' to me in a very simple but concise manner? I have read about the POST, the clearing of registers, BIOS in the CMOS, etc. What I understand is that the boot file is different to the boot program. the boot program gets the system ready to accept an OS while the boot file contains some of the parameters by which the system will operate. The boot program is stored on ROM and the boot file isnt? cheers, jazz

  I want to make my app GPO aware. I know that it's basically just reading from a specific registry path but I still have some questions: How do I detect GPO refreshes? There's RegisterGPNotification here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa374404(VS.85).aspx but is there anything ready baked for C# out there or at Microsoft? What's considered best practice: is the machine policy stronger than the user policy or is the user policy overruling the machine policy? Anyone, who wants to share some experience in that area? • Local variable assign versus direct assign; properties and memory.

  In objective-c I see a lot of sample code where the author assigns a local variable, assigns it to a property, then releases the local variable. Is there a practical reason for doing this? I've been just assigning directly to the property for the most part. Would that cause a memory leak in any way? I guess I'd like to know if there's any difference between this: HomeScreenBtns *localHomeScreenBtns = [[HomeScreenBtns alloc] init]; self.homeScreenBtns = localHomeScreenBtns; [localHomeScreenBtns release]; and this: self.homeScreenBtns = [[HomeScreenBtns alloc] init]; Assuming that homeScreenBtns is a property like so: @property (nonatomic, retain) HomeScreenBtns *homeScreenBtns; I'm getting ready to submit my application to the app store so I'm in full optimize/QA mode.

• Entity Framework with File-Based Database

  I am in the process of developing a desktop application that needs a database. The application is currently targeted to SQL Express 2005 and works wonderfully. However, I'm not crazy about having this dependency on SQL Express and would prefer to use a small file-based database. My problem is that I am using Entity Framework. I have tried both SQL Compact and SQLite, and they both have bizarre problems with EF v1. I get errors creating the Model, invalid models when it does get created... it's a nightmare. I'm about ready to give up and write a data layer and repository in the good-old-school Connection/Command pattern. Not my favorite plan... Is there a lightweight, file-based database out there that plays well with EF? OR Is there a better ORM tool that I should use instead of EF with my lightweight DB?

• "Initializing - Busy - Stopping" LOOP issue in Azure deployement

  Hi folks, I am trying to deploy an azure cloud application on Windows Azure. Application specifications are -- It has one WebRole - ASP.Net MVC Application (ASP.Net charting control is used in this MVC application) It does not contain any worker role. Third party references are set with property "copy Local" to "true"(MVC,ASP Charting control & ASP Provider DLLs) There is no DiagnosticsConnectionString in service configuration file It uses ASP provider for session state management. This application runs successfully on local dev fabric but when I try to deploy it on Windows Azure it gets stuck in a loop with status being changed between Initializing, Busy, Stopping states. It never goes into READY state. It seems that there are no ERROR logs for conveying the deployment issues to user. So is there any way to diagnose deployment issues ? Is there any way to get deployment ERROR logs ? Any kind of help will be appreciated. Thanks, Kushal

I have been looking for choices beyond: MSMQ a proprietary solution (what our prototype device is using) AMQP (I have not found any RabbitMQ clients for CE, by example) ... are there any others? We will be transporting sensitive data (who isn't?!?!) over a public network, and large scale options are required. Anything running on an embedded device will be performance sensitive too.

  I've created a new app but not uploaded a binary (not ready for review yet). However, I want to test in-app purchases. The documentation seems to state that a bundle ID is required to create an in-app purchase product. Is there any way to specify this bundle ID for creating the in-app purchase product on iTunes Connect without uploading the app binary in a way that won't cause problems when the actual binary is uploaded? What if the eventually uploaded binary has a different bundleID than the use created for testing - does it effectively invalidate the in-app purchase product?

  Hi, I know theres hundred of questions and answers out there, but cant find one to specifically answer this. I need a web editor that will let me choose a dark themed editor. I understand gvim is one, but im not totally ready to let go of my mouse. I would like something like sublime text editor for windows, but open to other suggestions. The less bloat the best. I dont need a full IDE like eclipse, but willing to compromise, as long as the themes can easily be added. I've tried bluefish, kompozer and not happy with them. Just need a basic text editor that will highlight php syntax on a dark background.

Do you let the fact that a project is going to be open-source weigh on the decision of what language to use? For example. Most .NET open-source projects are written in C#. However, if you were more comfortable with VB.NET, Boo, Nemerle, etc... would you use it? What other considerations are there?   I'm trying to figure out how to make jQuery slide #content2 down and replace content1 with it while making it look like #content1 is actually being pushed down by #content1 removing it from view... Then the same button that was clicked to make #content2 replace #content1 would also need to do the reverse effect by replacing #content2 with #content1 making them slide up and push each other out of the way... • Copying a massive databse for local ruby on rails development?

  Hi guys, There is a massive database (GB) that I am working with now and all of the previous development has been done on a slicehost slice. I am trying to get ready for more developers to come in and work so I need each person to be able to setup his own machine for development, which means potentially copying this database. Selecting only the first X rows in each table to cut size could be problematic for data consistency. Is there any way around this, or is a 1 hour download for each developer going to be necessary? And beyond that, what if I need to copy the production DB down for dev purposes in the future? Sincerely, Tyler

  Hi all I have a couple of pages in my site which open in a shadowbox window rather than the main window. My problem is that if the user session expires, then the user clicks on one of the links that open in a shadowbox, they are redirected to the login page INSIDE THE SHADOWBOX, which i don't want. I've been trying to think of the best way to handle this - one way i thought of, which seems a bit clumsy tbh, was on the login page to test if we're in a shadowbox, and if we are then close it and redirect the parent window to the login page. a) does this seem like a sensible plan? I added the following to my login page, which works: $(document).ready(function(){ if(window.parent.location != window.location){ window.parent.location.href = window.location; } } but i have to wait for the shadowbox to finish loading the page and then redirect. So it's working but like i say a bit clumsy. Is there a nicer way? grateful for any advice - max

  Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or knows why I am getting an error. I'm using javascript from within an iframe to call a parent dom element then use jQuery UI's effect core to shake it.
