• ListView control rendering issue with Groups, CheckBoxes and View mode SmallIcon

  Microsoft MSDN site has next remark: "Any groups assigned to a ListView control appear whenever the ListView.View property is set to a value other than View.List." My problem is that i like to have View set to SmallIcon. In this mode ListView control is shifted left, and CheckBoxes are covered by left edge How to solve this issue, or at least how is possible to shift rendering of control to the right. My OS is Windows XP Service Pack 3. It looks like that ListView items with Groups and CheckBoxes shows correctly only when View set to Details.

• ProcessCmdKey - wait for KeyUp?

  Hi, I'm having the following issue in a WinForms app. I'm trying to implement Hotkeys and I need to process Key messages whenever the control is active, no matter if the focus is on a textbox within that control, etc. Overriding ProcessCmdKey works beautifully for this and does exactly what I want with one exception: If a user presses a key and keeps it pressed, ProcessCmdKey keeps triggering WM_KEYDOWN events. However, what I want to achieve is that the user has to release the button again before another hotkey action would trigger (so, if someone sits on the keyboard it would not cause continuous hotkey events). However, I can't find where to catch WM_KEYUP events, so I can set a flag if it should process ProcessCmdKey messages again? Anyone can help out here? Thanks, Tom

• Thinking Sphinx - sorting by a string attribute gets out of sync when changes are made

  I have a "restaurants" table with a "name" column. I've defined the following index: indexes "REPLACE(UPPER(restaurants.name), 'THE ', '')", :as => :restaurant_name, :sortable => true ... because I want to sort the restaurant names without respect to the prefix "The ". My problem is that whenever one of these records is updated (in any way) the new record jumps to the top of the sort order. If another record is updated, it also jumps ahead of the rest. I end up with two lists: a list of restaurants that have been updated since the last re-indexing and a list of those that haven't. Each respective list is in alphabetical order, but I don't understand why the overall list is getting segregated this way. I do have a delayed delta index set up, and I assume the issue is related to this.

  I am getting an error whenever i try to run following unzip command from a python script which is running as a daemon Command : unzip abcd.zip /dev/null Error End-of-central-directory signature not found$ a zip file, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on the last disk(s) of this archive unzip: cannot find zipfile directory in one of abcd.zip$ abcd.zip.zip, and cannot find abcd.zip.ZIP, period. Specify WSDL file e.g. ( ) Project (*) Local file D:\temp\Foo\Bar.wsdl ( ) WSDL URL [Set Proxy...] client-style JAX-WS [ ] Generate Dispatch code It parsed the WSDL and generated lots of java files. I created a main class and used Netbeans to insert a WS client call Now whenever I run my code (Desktop app), it again parses the WSDL (which doesn't ever change) and regenerates about 78 java files and compiles them. How do I stop Netbeans performing this uneccessary and time-consuming action?

• Tips on creating a "build a bracelet" app

  I have an idea for an app/game which is basically a build your own bracelet. I will give to the user, say, 5 different types of beads, and the user and drag those beads into a line that is previously drawn in the screen and create his/her bracelet. I am now thinking on the best way to approach this. Would be using the android's OpenGL libraries (and therefore, creating the beads and loading its textures) the best and easiest way? • Why won't asp.net create cookies in localhost?

  Okay, this is really kinda starting to bug me. I have a simple Web project setup located at: "C:\Projects\MyTestProject\". In IIS on my machine, I have mapped a virtual directory to this location so I can run my sites locally (I understand I can run it from Visual Studio, I like this method better). I have named this virtual directory "mtp" and I access it via http://localhost/mtp/index.aspx. All this is working fine. However, whenever I try to create a cookie, it simply never gets written out? I've tried this in FF3 and IE7 and it just plain won't write the cookie out. I don't get it. I do have "127.0.0.1 localhost" in my hosts file, I can't really think of anything else I can do.   I want my Food class to be able to test whenever it is equal to another class. I will later use it against a List, and I want to use its List.Contains() method. Should I implement IEquatable or just override Object.Equals()? From MSDN: This method determines equality by using the default equality comparer, as defined by the object's implementation of the IEquatable.Equals method for T (the type of values in the list). So my next question is: which functions/classes of the .NET framework make use of Object.Equals()? Should I use it in the first place? Thanks

• Calling a method in a view controller from a view

  I have to invoke a method present in a view controller who's reference is available in the view. When I try to call the method like any other method, for some reason, iPhone just ignores the call. Can somebody explain as to why this happens and also how can I go about invoking this method?   I have this HUGELY irritating problem on Windows 7 (x64). Whenever I click on ANY link (that exists on a Word document, excel or Outlook), I get an alert box with the message: "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer" I have been scouring my settings and the internet for a solution, but to no avail. Has anybody else encounted this problem? It even happens when I click anchors in word documents i.e. I can't even click on an entry in a Table of Contents to go to the appropriate page - I get this same error then. Is this a Windows 7 thing? Anyway to turn this off?

Now, whenever it animates to the new screen, it just crashes the program. I am fairly new to iPhone development and any help would be appreciated.

• javascript textbox call event when value changes

  I have a textbox, and whenever the value of the box changes, I want to check and see if 20 digits have been entered. I thought that I would use the onChange event, but this seems to be interpreted as the onBlur event on IE. So then I thought I would use onKeyDown, but the problem comes in if the user wants to paste a value into the field, then the function never gets called. There are no other form boxes so I can't rely on onBlur or expect that they will change focus ever. How do I do this? I just want to evaluate the value of the textbox everytime the value of the textbox changes. <input type="text" onKeyDown="myfunction()">

• Using a filename with spaces with scp and chmod in bash.

  Periodically, I like to put files in the /tmp directory of my webserver to share out. What is annoying is that I must set the permissions whenever I scp the files. Following the advice from another question I've written a script which copies the file over, sets the permissions and then prints the URL: #!/bin/bash scp "$1" SERVER:"/var/www/tmp/$1" ssh SERVER chmod 644 "/var/www/tmp/$1" echo "URL is: http://SERVER/tmp/$1" When I replace SERVER with my actual host, everything works as expected...until I execute the script with an argument including spaces. Although I suspect the solution might be to use $@ I've not yet figured out how to get a spaced filename to work.

In short, I'd like to serve a different flavor of the page whenever the _escaped_fragment_ parameter is found in the URL. What should I modify in order for the server to serve something else (a static page, or a page dynamically generated through a headless browser like HTML Unit)? I'm guessing it could be the web.xml file, but I'm not sure. (Note: I thought of checking the Showcase app provided with the GWT SDK, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to support serving static files on _escaped_fragment_ and it doesn't use the #! token..)

• Configuring log4net appenders via XML file *and* code

  I started to play with log4net today and so far, I really like it. In order to preserve our current logging functionality, the app needs to create a new log file whenever the application is started. The log file name has the date and time stamp encoded in it. Currently, I've got log4net configured via an XmlConfigurator, which works great, except that the filename for my RollingFileAppender is hardcoded in the configuration XML file. I'd like to continue to use the XmlConfigurator, but after calling Configure(), I want to get at the RollingFileAppender and, in code, change its file value to be a dynamically-generated string. The sample documentation online seems to be down right now, but I've poked through the SDK reference, and it looks like I could use the Heirarchy and GetAppenders() to do what I need to do. Am I on the right track?

  Hi everybody! In a Silverlight 4 proj i'm using WCF RIA services, MVVM principles and EF 4. I 'm running into this situation: created an entity called Category and another one called CategoryLocale (automated using VS, no POCO). The relation between them is 1 to N respectively (one Category can have many CategoryLocales), so trough this relationship one can implement master-detail scenarios. Everytime i change a property in the master record (Category) i get a notifypropertychanged notification raised. But: whenever i change a property in the detail (CategoryLocales) i don't get anything raised. The detail part is bound to a Datagrid like this: <sdk:DataGrid Grid.Row="3" Grid.ColumnSpan="2" ItemsSource="{Binding SelectedRecord.CategoryLocales,Mode=TwoWay}" AutoGenerateColumns="False" VerticalScrollBarVisibility="Auto" > Any help is appreciated! • Drawbacks to using background-repeat only for colors?

  So I need some custom colors on a layout, but I'm looking for a better way of doing it other than just slapping a giant picture with (background: url(something.jpg)) in the layout. Mostly I'm thinking of getting a color palette (i.e. from Adobe Kuler, colourlovers, etc.), getting a 5x5 sample of each color and sticking them in an array for CSS sprites or just as separate files and accessing them through: .color-one {transparent url(./one.gif) repeat} and just reusing that whenever I'd like to use the color. Are there any drawbacks to doing it this way? And if there are should I just stick with web-safe colors or is there a better way of doing this?

• Basic doubt about sensor usage

  Suppose I have a cellphone with accelerometer and magnetometer, and want to determine its absolute (wrt North/East/South/West) 3d position. Imagine the phone is laid vertically, with the screen facing me, the "up" vector pointing to the ceil. Whenever I tilt, the accelerometer allows me to get the "up" vector info change. The problem is that if I tilt the device and put it horizontally (screen now facing ceil, and "up" vector pointing to the opposite of where I am), then the up vector doesn't get updated any more if I rotate the phone horizontally on the table. This is something that clearly is detected by the magnetometer now. So, the question is, when to know where to use acc or mag for each case? Is there a generic way to achieve this?

• Presenting a Popover From a Rect Problem

  I have a UITableViewCell that has some labels and images that can be clicked. I want to present a popover whenever a user clicks on any part of the cell. How can I achieve this without interfering with the click actions of the labels & images? I am currently creating an invisible button ontop of some other clickable items in the cell and calling the popover: [replyPopover presentPopoverFromRect:CGRectMake(77, 25, 408, 68) inView:self permittedArrowDirections: UIPopoverArrowDirectionDown animated:YES]; Unfortunately, because the button is on top of the labels & images I am unable to click them. How can I show a popover by clicking on the background of a cell, so that there is no interference when clicking images & labels inside the cell?

• Jboss logging issue - pl check this as its very urgent

  Actually my issue is , our application is deployed on jboos As 4.0x, we face some issues in jboss logging.. whenever the server is restarted, jboss stops logging , and there is no update in server.log. After that it is not updating the log file. then we do touch cmd on log4j.xml, so that it creates the log files again. Please help me in fixing the issue we cant do touch everytine. we face this issue in both the nodes. I could not figure where the problem is? If any other issues, we can check the log files. If log itself is not getting updated/logged, how can we move further in analysing the issues without the recent/updated logs.. please help me..

  Whenever a user would type a number, my app would automatically prepend a currency sign before that number. For example, when the user types "1" in a text field, the text inside it becomes "$1.00".
