When I show information netsh wlan show hostednetwork the supported authentication is WPA. My device support authentication WEP only. How can I change the authentication to WEP? • Why does my DSDT table is different from what I found online?

  I have found a field in DSDT table where I want to modify from here http://www.ztex.de/misc/c2ctl.e.html Generally, I want to modify the _PSS field about the processor so that I can have more frequency levels available in the CPUfreq driver interface. • BIOS setting: AHCI or RAID (when using SSD + 2x HDD in RAID-0)

  Hello there, I want to add a new SSD and use it as system drive with Win7 x64 installed. As driver I chose newest Intel Rapid Storage driver (not MSAHCI). I know that I have to use AHCI as BIOS setting for optimal SSD read/write performance. But I'm also using 2 normal HDDs as separate RAID-0 SSD: Win7 HDD: RAID-0 HDD: RAID-0 If I set my BIOS on my ASUS P5W DH Deluxe to AHCI, my RAID-0 cant be recognized And If im using RAID as setting, maybe my SSD has not its top speed. But I'm not sure about that. In short: AHCI no RAID-0 RAID no optimal SSD performance (?) Now my question: Can I use RAID as BIOS setting and be sure, that theres no decrease in SSD performance? Google finds so many articles with similar topics and my head is just exploding. Two examples: - set AHCI and after installing OS switch to RAID as BIOS setting... what? - use a diskette and F6 while installing win7... really? O.o I thought those times are gone

• Windows Media Center showing Jerky Video on PC

  I had to repave my Windows 7 x64 box last week due to a hard drive crash, and for a while everything was running perfectly but now all videos in Windows Media Center are jerky (the sound is fine, they just seem to skip a ton of frames all the time). This is on the local machine, but the same thing happens when I try to stream to my Xbox. The videos all show fine in VLC and Windows Media Player. I guess I must have installed something recently (in the process of getting all the apps I usually have running on my PC) that caused this but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I have updated to the latest video driver (and then rolled back to the standard Windows 7 driver), I have rolled back all the other drivers that I have installed (I believe). I have uninstalled all the codec packs (I also run TVersity, so I hate the TVersity codec pack installed), and I uninstalled TVersity. Nothing seems to help. I have uninstalled windows media center, and reinstalled it from the Programs and Features. I have basically ran out of things to try to fix this, and am almost thinking about reinstalling Windows again. Any suggestions?

• Bluescreen Stop 0x00000027 RDR_FILE_SYSTEM after cloning system on new HDD

  A couple of months ago I got a new 500GB HDD for my no-name-brand Laptop PC and I cloned the complete Win 7 Pro 32bit system with clonezilla from the old 70GB drive to the new one. At first everything was great, the new driver was immediately updated. But since then I get on a more and more frequent level (used to be every 2-3 days, but now it's more like 2-3 times a day) a BSOD Stop error. From the eventlog in Windows I know that there are two different error codes sppoking aroung: 0x00000027 (0xbaad0073, 0x9954f80c, 0x9954f3f0, 0x8ecd7c82) RDR_FILE_SYSTEM 0x00000044 (0x85443230, 0x00000eae, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) MULTIPLE_IRP_COMPLETE_REQUESTS I checked for viruses and did a complete HDD check using the Windows tool and WesternDigital tool (which is the producer of the new HDD) without results. I also looked for driver updates but couldn't find any. The name of the HDD as shown in the device manager is: WDC WD5000BPVT-00HXZT1 ATA Device. I'm really a noob regarding those kind of problems, so if you have any idea what I can try without losing all my data, let me know. Also, if any additional information are required.

• Loss of network connectivity when playing video on Optoma HD180 projector

  Hi Folks - New to Super User, so I hope this question fits in with the guidelines. Very strange problem I am having, and I am at a loss as to how to continue troubleshooting this one. The basic problem is that when I attempt to watch streamed video on a particular display device (an Optoma HD180 projector), my network connectivity drops like a stone to barely measurable levels. This is my setup: I have a Dell H2C 730x running Windows 7 64bit. This particular computer has two ATI Radeon HD 4800 video cards. I have two Samsung 22" monitors connected to one card, and an Optoma HD180 digital projector connected to the other card via an HDMI cable. My internet connection is normally a reliable 6Mbps. The problem I am having occurs when I stream video (or even just browse the web) on the Optoma Projector. When I do this, my internet connection drops to practically zero (just a few kilobits per second). When I move the browser away from the projector, and over to one of my Samsung monitors, the internet connection comes right back. Note that the Optoma projector is on and enabled as a third monitor all this time. I can move the mouse around on the projector without triggering the problem. I tried pinging my router when I was playing a movie on one of the monitors, and I get a 1 millisecond response. However, when I have the movie playing on the Optoma projecter, pinging the router gives me response times in the hundreds of milliseconds, or times out completely. So, it clearly is something local to my machine - and not some sort of throttling occurring down the line. I would think that it is possibly something to do with the HDMI driver conflicting somehow with my network driver (which is a USB-based wireless connection). This one has me really stumped. Anyone have any ideas?

• Terrible noises from subwoofer of ACER Aspire 6930 with Realtek sound chip

  After approximately 5-15 min of listening to music my subwoofer begins to make terrible noises. He's just "coughing". That began after 6 months I had this computer. Now I found out, that I can temporarily fix this problem by "restarting" the audio stream of the application that plays music. For example reloading last.fm page (reloads the flash file). Another way to reset the audio playback is switching the speaker configuration shown below in the screenshot. According to many posts on the internet like http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/52918-20-acer-aspire-6935g-speaker-problem ACER support isn't any help Exchanging hardware doesn't fix the problem Even the later models have this problem Turning off the volume of the subwoofer is not an option to me. I still have warranty (I bought an extension of one year). I already tried about 15 versions of the Realtek driver with no success. I am not sure but MAYBE the problem did not occur on the original windows vista that was shipped with this computer. However, I removed the original windows for good reasons (english). What do you suggest me? Did anyone fix this problem? Maybe by writing a script which resets the audio streams every 5 minutes? Shall I take the effort to deal with the acer support until they give me another model? (I won't have a computer than for a longer time, will spend money on telephone hotlines (1,30 EUR / min)......) • Keyboard's media keys are blocked by a program

  I've got a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000. In addition to the regular keys, it's also got keys for Web/Home, Search, Mail, Favorites (5), Calculator, and Media functions (Mute, Volume Up/Down, and Play/Pause). Everything works most of the time, and the exception is rather odd. I use a programming system called Clarion. When that has focus, the Media keys don't work. (All the others still do.) I've also discovered that programs that I create using Clarion also block the media keys (only when they have focus). This indicates that it's probably something in Clarion's Run-Time Library (RTL) that's causing the trouble. The keys will work if I click on a non-Clarion window before hitting the media key, but that's an undesirable hassle. The odd thing is that I have many colleagues with the same keyboard, and they have no problem. When I recently upgraded from Vista Professional to Win7 Ultimate, I noticed that various things "appear" differently. For example, with my old system, when I changed the volume or muted the volume bar visualization always appeared at the bottom right on the screen. Now it doesn't appear in certain programs, even when it works. This indicates an order of precedence for visual elements. I'm fairly certain a similar order of precedence exists for keyboard hooks. Depending on how the hooks are defined, and the order in which they're applied, it would seem that sometimes the IntelliType drivers don't see the media keystrokes. The Media keys probably behave differently than the rest of the "special" keys, because they are more of a standard across all keyboards, so perhaps are handled by a different driver hooking mechanism. Does anyone have any suggestions of how I might fix this problem? Is there some way to change the order of hooks? Delay the loading of the IntelliType driver? Thanks in advance!

• Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 & Windows 7 64-bit failing miserably

  I am trying to install a Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 webcam to Windows 7 64-bit. If I do it without using the Logitech drivers but instead the Windows Update ones, the camera works with low frame rate and without face tracking and all other bells and whistles that it's full driver provides. The moment I install the latest official Logitech driver, the problems begin: Camera works fine, until I decide to go to audio settings of the LWS panel or Windows'. Then LWS freezes and with it everything that tries to output audio. I am not able to open Playback/Recording devices window (it just doesn't appear) and system gets unstable and slow with LWS.EXE process not been able to close forcefully. If I reboot and forget the camera connected, this situation continues and system gets unstable from the beginning. If I reboot without the camera connected, everything works fine until I connect it and try to do something with audio settings of Windows or LWS panel. I should note, that until the freezing occurs, camera works as expected, with full frame rate, face tracking and everything that is expected to do. The soundcard is the ASUS SupremeFX II of the ASUS Striker II Extreme motherboard. Any ideas of what is causing this or what else to try so I can make it work as advertised? Thank you.

• Synaptics touchpad stops working randomly

  I have two laptops. One dell Vostro and other Vaio Z. Both have Synaptics (Yes, I have checked, and the original drivers were from Synaptics as well). On both laptops, the touchpad scrolling stops working at some arbitrary time and nothing seems to solve it except a reboot. Sometimes, it randomly starts working again. I have downloaded all latest drivers from OEM. Interestingly, when I run a program as Administrator, scrolling works in that window only. This problem is very odd. It happens without any reason and I've not been able to find a fix for more than a year. I have seen some unusual suggestions on forums (e.g., to "restore windows to a previous working state") but never any fix that solves this issue properly. I have tried installing latest drivers and I DO NOT want to restore windows to a previous working configuration. OS: Windows 7 64 bit Professional (Sony Vaio Z - VPCZ128GG) Windows 7 32 bit Professional (Dell) Edit: Temporary solution is to uninstall the synaptics driver and let Windows 7 use its default built in one. However, I really prefer the Synaptic driver because it activates the scroll button rather than the mouse wheel (useful in some apps such as MS Photo Editor)

• Trying to connect simple VB6 ADO to SQL Server 2008

  We have a VB6 App that -for current purposes - is very basic ADO: Dim a New ADODB.Recorset, set some basic properties like Cursor Location and Lock Type, set a Connection String and a .Source like "Select * from CustomerMaster", and .OPEN - nothing fancy here! Yet, on a new SBS installation with SQL Server 2008 across 2 Servers (one for Apps, the other dedicated to SQL!), it dies/hangs/crashes if you try to run such a Query from anything but the SQL Sever box. Initially, we were using the SQLOLEDB.1 driver, which would crash/hang the entire SQL Server after about 4 such queries (built a simple 6 line App just for this purpose). Then switched to the NATIVE SQL driver, which did allow us unlimited, happy queries - until you did the first Change/Update - THEN it would corrupt the SQL Server if you exited and tried to go back in. All this 'corruption' is happening from the 'App Server' of the SBS pair, and I presume that the App Server (also installed in tandem with the SQL server this week) has the latest MDACs, etc. And running it from a 'lowly XP workstation' is (obviously) no better. ANY ideas??? -Henry

• How can I get Windows 7 to work with two Nvidia graphics cards with different drivers?

  This is similar to this question, but I am using more similar cards with Windows 7. I just purchased a Zotac Nvidia GeForce 7200 GS. I have a motherboard with two PCI Express x16 slots. There is already an MSI Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS being used as the primary card, driving two LCD monitors. I would like the Zotac to output to a TV via DVI-out. Unfortunately, when Windows detects the Zotac and installs its drivers, or I manually install them, Windows stops being able to boot up. If I remove them and re-install the MSI 8800 drivers, I can boot again, but Windows can no longer see the Zotac 7200--it shows up as a yellow triangle in Device Manager. I've read conflicting reports about this. Some people claim that Windows 7 will support multiple heterogeneous graphics card drivers, as long as they are all using the same driver API ("WDDM?"). Others say that they have to be using the exact same driver, or it won't work. Others claim that you have to use the exact same card. which is it, exactly? I know I can run the MSI 8800 in SLI if I purchase another, but I don't need that kind of power--I just need HD-out to my television. I read somewhere that running two cards in SLI precludes you from using 100% of their output ports, so I'm not sure if that's an option. I suppose I could also run two MSI 8800's without SLI, but again, that's more power than I need (and more money than I'd like to spend). Also, I don't think this exact model is even manufactured anymore. Any ideas?

• How to connect a USB GDI printer to Linux over a D-Link print server?

D-Link DPR-1020 is a print server with an Ethernet and an USB port that actually supports printing to challenged (read GDI) printers using a utility called PS-Link. What the utility does is basically mirror a USB port over the network to the print server so that the printer driver and the printer both are happy to talk to each other. The PC-s are notebooks that come and go, i.e. are not there all the time. Is there an equivalent of the D-Link PS-Link utility for Linux that could mirror a USB port over the network for a Linux host? And can the solution be used with D-Link DPR-1020? If not then I basically wasted the money buying the print server because the goal was to share a small printer among a couple of users with diverse operating systems in an office. The print server specs say that it supports Linux and LJ P1005, but the Catch 22 appears to be the solution used for GDI printers... It should be noted that it is possible to print from Linux to LJ P1005 directly over USB. This far sharing involved reconnecting the USB cable to appropriate computer to print. Now one of the desks is separated, so the cable does not work. Searching the net did not yield anything useful. Please do not suggest solutions involving a Windows machine (either virtual or not), my question is whether a solution only involving a Linux machine exists.

• Turning on Bluetooth disables wifi on Yoga 2

  I have a Lenovo Yoga 2. The moment that I turn on bluetooth, the wifi drops out - I lose connection, and connecting again shows "connection failed". If I turn the bluetooth off, wifi can reestablish fine. I've tried lots of different combinations of drivers for both the wifi and the bluetooth, but no combination has has changed this behavior yet. I've read some speculation that the cards have insufficient shielding, but that seems like kind of a large flaw to ship with. I've tried with a Carbon X1, a Yoga 2 Pro, and a Yoga 2 all next to each other on the desk while running InSSIDer. The X1 and the Y2P don't lose wifi connection when the bluetooth turns on, but the Y2 does immediately. The Y2P and the Y2 are running the same drivers for bluetooth and wifi, and appear to have the same wireless card internally. During the failure state, InSSIDer still sees signal strength for my network, but I cannot connect to it. stats: the card that comes in the laptop is an Intel Wireless-N 7260 Intel Bluetooth driver is at 17.0.1401.422 Intel Wireless driver is at 17.0.2.5 Windows 8.1 x64 Home wifi is a Medialink MWN-WAPR150N

• MySQL ODBC + SSL with only the SSL Cipher option?

  Does anybody know how I can have an SSL encrypted connection over MySQL ODBC without the cert options? So I asked my web host to setup a MySQL+SSL connection so that we can access our website's database via ODBC or MySQL Query Browser (or the likes). I am able to get an encrypted connection with the standard mysql client and MySQL Query Browser, but I can't get the ODBC connection to work. Looking for a little help... The way they set it up is a little different from the way I have read about on the interweb. The host didn't setup a cert, or at least I don't think so - I don't need to specify any cert options in my connection. I just need to specify the ssl cipher. Here is how I connect with the mysql client: mysql -h myhost.com -u myuser --ssl-cipher=3DES -p That works to get an encrypted connection. At least I am pretty sure it works because when I run mysql> \s I get SSL: Cipher in use is EDH-RSA-DES-CBC3-SHA Also, when I put EDH-RSA-DES-CBC3-SHA into the SSL Cipher field of MySQL Query Browser (without specifying any other SSL options) it connects just fine.   I have three SyncMaster 932a monitors I want to use with two Radeon X1600/X1650 cards under Linux. I am running X.org X Server 1.6.0, as provided by Ubuntu's Wubi installer. Important to understand that the print failure only happens in certain circumstances: Note: We use a standard Windows printer selection box to choose the printer Terms used Superbase = a program language that uses ntvdm.exe (Windows process hosting 16 bit apps) Local Printer = printing to a driver loaded onto the Server 2008 Redirect Printer = printing to a automatically established remote printer through an RDP connection Printing Scenarios Server 2008 - 1: Print from notepad to a Redirected Printer = works Server 2008 - 2: Print from Superbase to a Local Printer = works Server 2008 - 3: Print from Superbase to a Redirected Printer = fail Server 2003 - 4: Print from Superbase to a Redirected Printer = works Results The print causes a message in the drivers print queue of Local Downlevel Document, no print though and Superbase recognises that the "Print command failed". Eventvwr has no related issues to the print fail Any help greatly appreciated. So far 2 days spent trying to resolve and here goes my weekend :( unless someone has an idea :) Things I have Tried i. • Installed Paragon HFS+ for Windows 8, now my pc won't recognize the external firewire drive

  I'm not incredibly knowledgeable about computers and I really need some help. Just got a Seagate external firewire drive this morning. I downloaded the necessary pc driver (Paragon HFS+ for Windows 8) through their website per the instructions that came with the drive. After installation, I restarted and the pc recognized the firewire drive just fine. About three hours into copying files from my pc to the firewire drive, it gave me an error and told me the files couldn't be copied. When I clicked to get out of the message, the computer crashed. After an hour of it trying to repair itself in safe mode, it restored me to an earlier version before the system crashed. Here's my current dilemma: The Paragon HFS+ is still showing up in my programs as installed, but the Device Manager is not recognizing the drive. When I try to uninstall and reinstall Paragon, it interrupts me with a message saying "The setup must update files or services that cannot be updated while the system is running" and basically gives me the finger. I have no idea what to do now, as it won't let me uninstall and reinstall Paragon, and I have no idea why it crashed my computer in the first place. Is there possibly another Mac - PC firewire driver I can try downloading instead? I really don't know what I'm doing and any help would be greatly appreciated.

  We recently had our Citrix server crash unexpectedly. When it came back up, there was a new issue -- every ODBC connection fails with "Catastrophic Failure" (0x8000FFFF). The issue is limited to Citrix / ICA connections; logging in as the same user via RDP works as usual. ODBC error happens whether a DSN is used or not, on at least Access, MS-SQL, and CSV. Connections both through the SSL Gateway and directly. There have been a few users actually able to log in without trouble, but I can't pin down anything special about them.

  I have a rather strange problem. We covered all the obvious hardware related issues (different nic, eth cable and switch) however I cannot seem to stop eth dropping packets. • MS Excel 2010 - Using DSN + 32 bit drivers

  I need some advice as im running into a problem and so far i have been unable to find a solution. We have a set of reports developed in MS Excel that use DSN file to connect to data sources to retrieve data, these work fine on 32 / 64bit systems, however we are moving to a terminal server environment using windows 2008 R2 64Bit. The reports fail to run using the DSN's within this environment if we only have the 32bit drivers installed and configured in the ODBC settings, the minute we install the 64Bit drivers the software works. Is there a way / Method of getting Excel or the DSN file to NOT use the 64Bit driver, but force it to use the 32bit driver. ANSWERED - But due to low user score i cannot "answer" my own question... Sadly there is no way to-do what i want to-do, without a lot of very nasty and not 100% perfect reg hacks. • Windows Media Center showing Jerky Video on PC

  I had to repave my Windows 7 x64 box last week due to a hard drive crash, and for a while everything was running perfectly but now all videos in Windows Media Center are jerky (the sound is fine, they just seem to skip a ton of frames all the time). This is on the local machine, but the same thing happens when I try to stream to my Xbox. The videos all show fine in VLC and Windows Media Player (however exhibit the same problem in Quicktime). I guess I must have installed something recently (in the process of getting all the apps I usually have running on my PC) that caused this but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I have updated to the latest video driver (and then rolled back to the standard Windows 7 driver), I have rolled back all the other drivers that I have installed (I believe). I have uninstalled all the codec packs (I also run TVersity, so I have the TVersity codec pack installed), and I uninstalled TVersity. Nothing seems to help. I have uninstalled windows media center, and reinstalled it from the Programs and Features. I have basically ran out of things to try to fix this, and am almost thinking about reinstalling Windows again. Any suggestions? Edit Specs on the PC (which I figured was unimportant since everything used to work perfectly): Intel Core 2 CPU 6600 @ 2.4 Ghz Nvidia GTS 8800 Built in realtek-audio soundcard 4GB Ram Codecs which are failing: All that I have tried, but at least Xvid, Mpgv (mpeg2 video from a camera), and Wmv (only kinds that I have ready access to).

• Printer spooler service stop running when sent print job

  Every time i am sending a print job to the printer, i am don't get any response from the printer, and at the printer job list at the status of the job, i see that there was an Error, but it don't give me any clue on what could be the problem. After some investigation i found that every time that i send the print job to the printer the printer spooler service stops to run, then after a second or two it start again (i think that this behavior is related to the printer spooler settings to rerun it self after it stops). Things that i have tried so far: Remove and Install again the Driver. After removing the driver, i have removed the unnecessary registry keys according to this article from Microsoft, these are: Rename all files and folders in: c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86 Remove anything but Drivers Print and Processors: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environment\Windows NT x86 Remove anything in here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors but: BJ Language Monitor Local Port Microsoft Document Imaging Writer Monitor Microsoft Shared Fax Monitor Standard TCP/IP Port USB Monitor WSD Port Disconnect and Reconnect the Printer. Clean the computer from Viruses & Spywares. Currently i am stuck, i have no more things to try, if anybody know about any kind of solution please let me know about it. Since i am want to keep this post as general problem that relate to the printer spooler, and not just my particular problem, i didn't included inside the windows version & the printer model, they are (although i think that it isn't relate just for that particular model): Windows 7 32bit, HP Officejet 4500 G510g-m (connect to the computer via USB).
