• how to assign to the names() attribute of the value of a variable in R

  In R, "assign('x',v)" sets the object whose name is 'x' to v. Replace 'x' by the result of applying a text function to a variable x. Then "assign" shows its worth. Unfortunately, "assign(paste('names(','x',')',sep=''),v)" fails. So if 'x' is a variable x, I can set its value, but I can't give it names for its elements. Can one work around this? a parse-eval trick maybe? Thanks.

  Hi! I've got a huge problem. I made a special ID for the things in our webpage. Let's see an example: H0059 - this is the special ID called registration number. The last two chars are the things' id. I'd like to cut off the useless characters, to get the real ID, what means strip the first char, and all the 0s before any other numbers. (Example: L0745 = 745, V1754 = 1754, L0003 = 3, B0141 = 141, P0040 = 40, V8000 = 8000) Please help me in this. I've tried with strreplace and explode but failed :( Thanks for the help.

• How to access a XML file in a maven project so it stays available when packaged

  I currently started working on a maven web-app project that needs to be launched with the jetty:run-exploded goal for development/debugging in eclipse. Now, I have an XML file which contents I need to access at runtime. My problem is: where to put the file so that the code that does the reading works both in "exploded" and packaged (i.e. in the WAR) mode? Putting the file in src/main/java (so as to be in the classpath) won't cut it since maven filters out all non-java files on packaging. When the file is in src/main/resources, one mean would be to figure out the root path of the project (during eclipse development) and look into that directory - but this won't be the case anymore when the project will be packaged. Of course I could go into writing code that tries to read the file from both locations, but this seems rather cumbersome. Any suggestions?

  I am using gVim on Ubuntu 10.10. I want to copy (yank) text to the system clipboard, so that the copied text is available in other applications. This works with "+y. But I want to have it working with y. I have tried to map y to "+y but then yy doesn't work anymore (since it produces "+y"+y). I have also tried :set clipboard=unnamed but this works only the other direction: Text in the system clipboard I can paste with p.

• Replacing a column in CSV file with another in bash

  I have a csv file with a number of columns. I am trying to replace the second column with the second to last column from the same file. For example, if I have a file, sample.csv 1,2,3,4,5,6 a,b,c,d,e,f g,h,i,j,k,l I want to output: 1,5,3,4,5,6 a,e,c,d,e,f g,k,i,j,k,l Can anyone help me with this task? Also note that I will be discarding the last two columns afterwards with the cut function so I am open to separating the csv file to begin with so that I can replace the column in one csv file with another column from another csv file. Whichever is easier to implement. Thanks in advance for any help.

  Hey all, looking to see if theres a way to easily include external html file inside the body to repeat on every page, for instance: a navigator or something. Basically if i have to add a menu item or something, i have to go and paste all the code into each page. Or even a way to section parts off in Dreamweaver to update based on a file or something would work i suppose Ive done it before through JavaScript with document.writes and stuff, but it was very annoying, and probably a terrible way to go about doing so. thanks for your help!

  I'm writing software which is demonstraiting video on demand service. One of the feature is something similiar to IIS Smooth Streaming - I want to adjust quality to the bandwith of the client. My idea is, to split single movie into many, let's say - 2 seconds parts, in different qualities and then send it to the client and play them. The point is that for example first part can be in very high quality, and second in really poor (if the bandwith seems to be poor). The question is - do you know any software that allows me to cut movies precisly? For example ffmpeg splits movies in a way that join is visible and really annoying (seconds are the measure of precision). I use qt + phonon as a player if it matters. Or maybe you know any better way to provide such feature, without splitting movie into parts?

  The password field in my user table (SQL Server 2008) is encrypted using HASHBYTES on insertion. I have a stored procedure with parameters for the username and plain-text password which does a SELECT using that username and the password sent through HASHBYTES, then returns the user record if it finds a match. The SP is always returning an empty recordset, but if I copy and paste just the SELECT from the SP to a new query window, it returns the matched record. There're no other statements in the SP. I'm missing something here; what is it?

  Hi, I'm studding a way of using Google Analytics to track Ad impressions/clicks. Looks like event tracking is the way to go. Tracking clicks it's easy to implement. My doubt resides on impressions: using event tracking on page load will cut down my bounce rate to 0 using a second profile doesn't look elegant (leave it for last resource) GOAL: John loads page A and leave. Count 1 for impressions and 1 for bounce rate as it should. Is there a way of doing it with Google Analytics?

• How do I view Visual Studio BuildLog.htm files without cutting and pasting into an external browser

  This may or may not be specific to VS2005 (as that is the version I'm referring to for this question). I find often the case is that I see this in the Output panel inside Visual Studio 2>Build log was saved at "file://c:\\vsdll_example\MyExecRefsDll\Debug\BuildLog.htm" Now, since that looks and smells like a URL, I would have thought that I could simply left mouse click on it, or left mouse double-click on it, and a browser window of some sort would be displayed. No, that doesn't work. So, to view it, I have to cut and paste the "file://bla/bla/bla" part into an external window. Is there a way to set up Visual Studio to allow me to browse to that file directly, or view it inside Visual Studio IDE, or something to that effect, without the extra fiddling with cutting and pasting? I get this error and it's not making much sense. The type arguments for method 'System.Linq.Queryable.Contains(System.Linq.IQueryable, TSource)' cannot be inferred from the usage. Try specifying the type arguments explicitly.

  When using a multi-line TextBox (AcceptsReturn="True") in Silverlight, line feeds are recorded as \r rather than \r\n. This is causing problems when the data is persisted and later exported to another format to be read by a Windows application. I was thinking of using a regular expression to replace any single \r characters with a \r\n, but I suck at regex's and couldn't get it to work. Because there may be a mixture of line endings just blindy replacing all \r with \r\n doesn't cut it. So two questions really... If regex is the way to go what's the correct pattern? Is there a way to get Silverlight to respect it's own Environment.NewLine character in TextBox's and have it insert \r\n rather just a single \r?

• Overriding the default error message for a ModelForm

  Is there any way to override a error_message text for all the fields of a ModelForm's, without having to include all the field info in the ModelForm? For example, let's say I have a (very simple) model like this: People(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=128, null=True, blank=True, help_text="Please type your name.") age = models.IntegerField(help_text="Please type your age.") I don't like the cut and dry default messages, such as, "Enter a whole number.", so I'd like to change them to something a bit nicer like "Please type a number." Ideally I'd be able to add an "error_message" property in the model, but the model does not support that property. So does that mean I have to basically duplicate all the model info in my ModelForm, or is there a way around that?

• Node.JS Server Cuts Off Frequently?

  I have a Node JS Server where I am using Socket.IO to stream content to the browser. It works great for about 45 minutes or so of streaming, then it will usually cut out. There are no "errors" reported in the terminal and the Node server acts like it is in, however the page I am serving clearly stops working. What are my options for trying to get to the bottom of this? Could this be a configuration issue with Node/Socket.IO? is there any basic error logging you would recommend I setup?

If you click the thumbnail picture you can see the full size version of that thumbnail. My problem are two: First the picture one and two are the same as five a six ( and i can't change it cause i don't find the place to do this.)   Above is how my report looks, the part in yellow in hidden, and is only shown when the user clicks the + icon on the [name]. the result is basically the percentage difference from the Past [X] - [TERM] i.e there is a dropdown with, [weeks, months, days, hours] and a textbox of qty. so choosing qty = 4 and term = weeks will delivery a result set spread over 4 weeks based on the parent result sets date range and name ID I wish to populate here the number of rows, dependant on the value set by the user and the data will be from a dataset. Is it possible to dynamically add more sub rows ( like on row data bound ) if my first row is ID 123 [name], is it possible to send this value [123] to a dataset in order that all subrows are only relevant to the name with ID of 123? this is my first bash at SSRS so please no half cut answers, that just lead to more questions about the answer given :-) if this makes sense.
