• is OpenID really that bad?

  I have seen this question on Quora where lots of people seem to agree that OpenID is bad, even going as far as stating that: OpenID is the worst possible "solution" I have ever seen in my entire life to a problem that most people don't really have Then I've seen articles and tweets referencing that question saying that OpenID has lost, and Facebook won. It's sad to read as I quite like the OpenID (or at least idea behind it). I literally hate getting yet another login/password for page (I'll forget it anyway) - it's a pretty serious issue for me and I know lots of people with the same problem. Thus I thought that OpenId is a great solution but I'm not sure anymore. So the question is should I still bother to implement OpenID or it's not worth it? What is the most robust and convenient (from the user perspective) way to identify and authenticate an user?

  Some of the biggest enterprise applications such as HR software, Sales and ERP, are written in .NET or Java. Also, Governments online solutions such as paying parking fines, and universities courses registration systems are all in .NET or Java. On the other hand, Facebook, Google and Wikipedia, are not using .NET or Java so much (Google uses at least both Java and Python). Twitter also was using Ruby for a long time, as well as Python. These websites work on much more data and at larger scales in terms of users and performance than any enterprise applications, yet still these companies have chosen a different path. What are the parameters driving such decisions? Note This question is not about why do you prefer x over y! or why those people are using this. The question is primarily asking about the parameters that makes Java Or .NET becomes better suite in enterprise applications based on Performance, Reliability, Scalability etc.

And just a month ago I left the job, and now i got an offer to develop an iPhone/iPad app. I need to develop an universal app which has frames like PicFrame in which photos must adjust accordingly, with customizable frames, few photo effects like in instagram (Not exactly same but something like it) and then user can share photos on Facebook, tumbler,dropbox, etc. I might need around 30 days time to develop the desired app. Note that designing is not my part, I need to develop and test it thoroughly. • What to use for an event listing site? [on hold]

  I have a site which lets users buy & sell tickets, but it's built on wordpress & buddypress. So it's very heavy and messy. I would like to re-do the whole site on something lighter, cleaner and solid. The main functionality for user would have to be as follows: Register or login via Facebook. Create events and sell tickets to them. See ticket sales statistics Upload photos and associate those with events. Buy event tickets, print pdf ticket. Comment, favourite and like events. What would be your suggestions? PHP framework? CMS? CMF? I must say that I'm a front-end dev so building a system from scratch on my own would take a while. I'd be interested more in a "skeleton" app solution or something similar.

I have a dilemma regarding the shared link structure: Option 1 - subdomains Use a questions.example.com and answers.example.com, followed by an ID and optional text.   Can add-ons have registered names in Google Chrome add-ons? I created a Youtube add-on and would like to add the Youtube term in my add-on name to better gain attention from users. I want to use it in the purpose of "fair use". Mozilla Add-ons are loose in restrictions about names but I see that there are not many add-ons containing Youtube or Facebook inside Chrome Market. Does that mean Chrome editors do not allow Registered terms inside the add-on names and should this be avoided?

I did find some useful informations that aren't available in a quick, light mobile format and I added to my site: teathers' programming, pharmacy shops open at night, twitter account embedding... have you got any other suggestion?   Basicly my problem emerges when I try to load Facebook and Yahoomail, I don't know why Both browsers Firefox and Chromium don't load these webpages, but this problem only happen with UBUNTU, when I'm in windows no problem. Note: The other webpages like youtube, gmail etc load without any problem. • secure rest API for running user "apps" in an iframe

  I want to let users create "apps" (like Facebook apps) for my website, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to make it secure. I have a REST api i want to run the user apps in an iframe on my own site (not a safe markup language like FBML) I was first looking at oAuth but this seems overkill for my solution. The "apps" don't need to be run on external sites or in desktop apps or anything. The user would stay on my site at all times but see the user submitted "app" through the iframe. So when I call the app the first time through the iframe, I can pass it some variables so it knows which logged in user is using it on my site. It can then use this user session in it's own API calls to customize the display. If the call is passed in the clear, I don't want someone to be able to intercept the session and impersonate the user. Does anyone know a good way to do this or good write up on it? Thanks!
