  • When is a Google Maps API key required?

    Recently Google changed it's policy on the use API keys. You're now supposed to no longer need an API key to place Google Maps on your website. And this worked perfectly. But now I have this map (without API key) running on my localhost, which works fine. But as soon as I place it online, I get a popup saying that I need another API key. And on another page on that website, Google Maps does work. Could it maybe have something to do with that the map that doesn't work have a lot (30+) of markers on it? Actually using an API key wouldn't be a very nice solution to me, as this is part of a Wordpress plugin used on many websites.

I have a following scenario in my MSSql 2005 database. zipcodes table has following fields and value (just a sample): zipcode latitude longitude ------- -------- --------- 65201 123.456 456.789 65203 126.546 444.444 and "place" table has following fields and value : id name zip latitude longitude -- ---- --- -------- --------- 1 abc 65201 NULL NULL 2 def 65202 NULL NULL 3 ghi 65203 NULL NULL 4 jkl 65204 NULL NULL Now, my requirement is like I want to compare my zip codes of "place" table and update the available latitude and longitude fields from "zipcode" table. And there are some of the zipcodes which has no entry in "zipcode" table, so that should remain null. And the major issue is like I have more then 50,00,000 records in my db. So, query should support this feature. I have tried some of the solutions but unfortunately not getting proper output. Any help would be appreciated...

  • Asp MVC - "The Id field is required" validation message on Create; Id not set to [Required]

    This is happening when I try to create the entity using a Create style action in Asp.Net MVC 2. The POCO has the following properties: public int Id {get;set;} [Required] public string Message {get; set} On the creation of the entity, the Id is set automatically, so there is no need for it on the Create action. The ModelState says that "The Id field is required", but I haven't set that to be so. Is there something automatic going on here? EDIT - Reason Revealed The reason for the issue is answered by Brad Wilson via Paul Speranza in one of the comments below where he says (cheers Paul): You're providing a value for ID, you just didn't know you were. It's in the route data of the default route ("{controller}/{action}/{id}"), and its default value is the empty string, which isn't valid for an int. Use the [Bind] attribute on your action parameter to exclude ID. My default route was: new { controller = "Customer", action = "Edit", id = " " } // Parameter defaults EDIT - Update Model technique I actually changed the way I did this again by using TryUpdateModel and the exclude parameter array asscoiated with that.   • Fastest XML parser for small, simple documents in Java

    I have to objectify very simple and small XML documents (less than 1k, and it's almost SGML: no namespaces, plain UTF-8, you name it...), read from a stream, in Java. I am using JAXP to process the data from my stream into a Document object. I have tried Xerces, it's way too big and slow... I am using Dom4j, but I am still spending way too much time in org.dom4j.io.SAXReader. Does anybody out there have any suggestion on a faster, more efficient implementation, keeping in mind I have very tough CPU and memory constraints? [Edit 1] Keep in mind that my documents are very small, so the overhead of staring the parser can be important. For instance I am spending as much time in org.xml.sax.helpers.XMLReaderFactory.createXMLReader as in org.dom4j.io.SAXReader.read [Edit 2] The result has to be in Dom format, as I pass the document to decision tools that do arbitrary processing on it, like switching code based on the value of arbitrary XPaths, but also extracting lists of values packed as children of a predefined node. [Edit 3] In any case I eventually need to load/parse the complete document, since all the information it contains is going to be used at some point.     I have a nullable date in my database. I am connecting to it with a LinqDataSource, and binding with a FormView. It allows you to place dates fine, but if you remove the date I need it to insert the null value to the db. It is instead throwing an exception. <asp:TextBox ID="TxtStartDate" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("StartDate", "{0:MM/dd/yyyy}") %>' /> Works fine if you place a date in it, but if you delete the date out of it and save, you get System.Data.SqlTypes.SqlTypeException: SqlDateTime overflow. Must be between 1/1/1753 12:00:00 AM and 12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM. How do I make it send null?

    Hi I am little confused on designing WCf services with EF. When using WCf and EF, where do we draw this line on what properties to return and what not to with the entity. Here is my scenario I have User. Here are the relations. User [1 to many] Address, User [ 1 to many] Email, User [ 1 to many] Phone So now on the webform, on page1 I can edit user information. say I can edit few properties on the user entity and can also edit address, phone, email entities[ like add / delete and update any] On page2, i can only update user properties and nothing related to navigation properties [ address, email, phone]. So when I return the User Entity [ OR DTO] should i be returning the navigation properties too? Or should the client make multiple calls to get navigation properites. Also, how does it go with Save? Like should the client make multiple calls to save user and related entites or just one call to save the graph? Lets say, if I just have a Save(User user) [ where user has all the related entities too] both page1 and page2 will call save and pass me the user. but one page1 i will need a lot more information. but on page2 i just need the user primitive properties. So my question is, where do we draw this line, how do we design theses services ? Is the WCF operation designed on the page and the fields it has ? I am hoping i explained my problem well enough.

    I have read little about TortoiseSVN and it capabilities, but I just can't understand how should I use basic structure. /trunk /branches /tags I have created FSFS type repo and I have imported basic structure. NB! No checkouts yet. I also have my project files in another place. How should I continue my work from here? Should I checkout repository-place all files in trunk folder-add them-commit them-then create tag for current trunk state-create branche for my goal I'm tring to achive-switch to created branch and work there? By the way my repo is local and whole work too. I thank everyone for help.

  • How do I toggle CSS with jQuery?

    I have the following code: $('#bc' + $.trim($this) + ' span.dashed-circle').css({ 'border' : '5px solid #000'}); That is triggered by a click.function(). I would like that to be a toggle - so when I click the element, it changes the border to what I have above...but when it is clicked again it disappears or rather sets the border to ' '. Thoughts? Edit: I should have been explicit...but I don't want to create a CSS class. The reason being is because when I do that, it messes up the formatting of the element being styled. I am sure that it is some small quirk somewhere that would fix it, but I am not interested in wading through the entire code base to fix little positioning issues with a new class. I would much rather just edit the css attribute directly - because it doesn't interfere with the layout. Edit2: Here is the jsfiddle of the code I am trying to edit. If you notice, I have the CSS attributes last. But how do I let that be toggled ? Edit3: If anyone is interested...the UI that this will be used in is for my webapp - http://www.compversions.com

    Hello! I'm using a DataGrid with edit functionalities in my project. It's handy, compared to having to edit its source data manually, but sadly, that means that I'll have to deal with validating user input a bit more. And my problem is basically just that.     I am in the process of learning the Yii Framework. I have been following this Tutorial. I have followed all the steps and have by index page loading. In my index.php page I point to two other pages located in protected/views/message The following is the code in my index.php located in the message folder mentioned above. <html> <body> <h1>Welcome</h1> <p> To view our message go to... <?php echo CHtml::link('Here', '/message/show')?> </p> <p> To edit our message go to... <?php echo CHtml::link('Here', '/message/edit')?> </p> </body> </html> "message" is the ID I gave when generating the model and controller through the yii shell application. The problem is, after the above page loads, and I click on any one of the above URLs, it points to "localhost:8080/message/show" and "localhost:8080/message/edit" , whereas the real location of these files is "localhost:8080/test/protected/views/message/..." What could I be doing wrong ?

  • Mixing .NET versions between website and virtual directories and the "server application unavailable" error Message

    Backstory Last month our development team created a new asp.net 3.5 application to place out on our production website. Once we had the work completed, we requested from the group that manages are server to copy the app out to our production site, and configure the virtual directory as a new application. On 12/27/2010, two public 'Gineau Pigs' were selected to use the app, and it worked great. On 12/30/2010, We received notification by internal staff, that when that staff member tried to access the application (this was the Business Process Owner) they recieved the 'Server Application Unavailable' message. When I called the group that does our server support, I was told that it probably failed, because I didn't close the connections in my code. However, the same group went in and then created a separate app pool for this Extension Request application. It has had no issues since. I did a little googling, since I do not like being blamed for things. I found that the 'Server Application Unavailable' message will also appear when you have multiple applications using different frameworks and you do not put them in different application pools. Technical Details - Tree of our website structure Main Website <-- ASP Classic +-Virtual Directory(ExtensionRequest) <-- ASP 3.5 From our server support group: 'Reviewed server logs and website setup in IIS. Had to reset the application pool as it was not working properly. This corrected the website and it is now back online. We went ahead and created a application pool for the extension web so it is isolated from the main site pool. In the past we have seen other application do this when there is a connection being left open and the pool fills up. Would recommend reviewing site code to make sure no connections are being left open.' The Real Question: What really caused the failure? Isn't the connection being left open issue an ASP Classic issue? Wouldn't the ExtensionRequest application have to be used (more than twice) in the first place to have the connections left open? Is it more likely the failure is caused by them not bothering to setup the new Application in it's own App Pool in the first place? Sorry for the long windedness

  • Standard documentation of Visual Studio commands?

    Visual Studio has a concept of commands, i.e. actions executable by pressing a shortcut, entering them on the Command Window etc. Visual Studio itself documents its commands (at least some of them) but I was wondering if there is a unified way to get information about any command, e.g. coming from ReSharper, TestDriven.NET etc. What I'd like to see for every command: Textual description of the command List of parameters and their types/allowed values I've never developed a VS addon / extension so am not sure if this question even makes sense but from the user perspective, some documentation would be greatly appreciated. BTW, is the Command Window the best place to get at least an overview of all the commands available? ToolsOptionsKeyboard is another place where I can see shortcuts also but the UI is not very convenient...

    I am trying to figure out how to change the color of the table view navigation bar in multiple table views. The table views are all connected to a navigation controller. For example, I want one navigation bar to be blue, but another to be red. I have tried the code below in the AppDelegate.m file, but it just changes all the navigation bars to the same color. Is there anywhere else I could place this code to change the color in specific places. I've heard that I need to create new files, but I don't know where to place the code, or what code to use in the new files. I am somewhat new to this.   • How do you use multiple versions of the same R package?

    In order to be able to compare two versions of a package, I need to able to choose which version of the package that I load. R's package system is set to by default to overwrite existing packages, so that you always have the latest version. How do I override this behaviour? My thoughts so far are: I could get the package sources, edit the descriptions to give different names and build, in effect, two different packages. I'd rather be able to work directly with the binaries though, as it is much less hassle. I don't necessarily need to have both versions of the packages loaded at the same time (just installed somewhere at the same time). I could perhaps mess about with Sys.getenv('R_HOME') to change the place where R installs the packages, and then .libpaths() to change the place where R looks for them. This seems hacky though, so does anyone have any better ideas?

  • Inconsistent GWT behavior in IE 8

    All, I have a web site that's built with GWT at https://penwag.com/penwag/. If you just hit the site and see the main page, there's supposed to be a login/registration area that displays, along with a teaser for the site. I've tried the site with most of the main browsers - FF 3 & 3.5, IE 6 & 8, Safari, and Chrome, and all appears well to me. However, I have a non-geek user that has visited the site from both work and home. The work computer can see the intro page fine, but the home computer shows only the static content, and non of the javascript-based portion, that is the login/registration and teaser. Both computers are using IE 8. He checked the computer where the site fails, and scripting is enabled. Can anyone else see the problem? (You don't have to register to see the problem, just hit the main page.) Anything else I should check or have him try? Thanks! Edit: The site is implemented using GWT 1.7.0. I'll have to find out about the OS versions. Edit: The one that works is running Windows XT, the failing one is running Windows Vista. (There's a shocker!) I myself have viewed it successfully with both OSs. Edit: I've since completely re-structured the site, and documented the changes here: http://penwag.blogspot.com/2010/04/april-penwag-update.html So, the site is no longer the same as when I asked this question.

    Hello, example use of "xargs" application in Unix can be something like this: ls | xargs echo which is the same as (let's say I have "someFile" and "someDir/" in the working dir): echo someFile someDir so "xargs" take its "input" and place it "at the end" of the next command (here at the end of echo). But sometimes I want xargs to place its input somewhere "in the middle" of next command. For example: find . -type f -name "*.cpp" -print | xargs g++ -o outputFile so if I had in the current directory files "a.cpp" "b.cpp" "c.cpp" the output would be the same as with the command: g++ -o outputFile a.cpp b.cpp c.cpp but I want to have something like this: g++ a.cpp b.cpp c.cpp -o outputFile Is there a way to do it? P.S.: I need it in some cases, because e.g.: i586-mingw32msvc-g++ -o outputFile `pkg-config --cflags --libs gtkmm-2.4` a.cpp b.cpp c.cpp doesn't work but this one works fine: i586-mingw32msvc-g++ a.cpp b.cpp c.cpp -o outputFile `pkg-config --cflags --libs gtkmm-2.4` Thanks.     When I send the following query http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/services/search/local?v=1.0&q=coffee%20New%20York%20NY using c# WebClient.DownloadString function or ordinary web browser I get JSON data which is different from data for the same query using JavaScript and Google AJAX Search API. From REST service I get the following url field http://www.google.com/maps/place?source003duds0026q003dcoffee0026cid003d13245583795745066822 but from JavaScript query I get this url field http://www.google.com/maps/place?source=uds&q=coffee&cid=13245583795745066822 The problem with REST service answer is that the url it gives points to a web page with error message "We currently do not support the location". What am I doing wrong?
