• Third-party dll's in a website layout

  I have a solution with several projects and one website. The website uses some third-party dll's. I have to place the dll's in the bin folder under the website. This is the same bin where the dll's from the other projects get auto-loaded. Is there a way I can place the third-party dll's in a separate folder? If I 'Add Reference' to the dll when it is in a separate folder, VS always adds it to the GAC. If the separate folder is outside of the website layout, 'Add Reference' never works. My goal is have the bin folder only for auto-updated dll's, and a separate folder for third-party dll's. [This method works fine for the projects; just the website has issues]

• Embeding EasyVideoPlayer Code into Wordpress Theme - Video not showing

  I'm attempting to place some embed code into a Premium WordPress Theme. NOTE: I'm not great when it comes to php. The embed code is produced by a video player called EasyVideoPlayer. (Basically it allows me to use Amazon S3 and gives me feedback on when people stop watching the video.) However the video is not showing. If we place both the theme and video player aside, would you expect the php code to accept what I've done or is this not the way to go about adding this embed code? NOTE:I've contacted both the Wordpress Premium Theme support at Woothemes.com and the video players support for EasyVideoPlayer.com However both tend to stop at the point that another paid product is involved! • iPhone OS: Rotate just the button images, not the views

  Hi, I am developing an iPad application which is basically a big drawing canvas with a couple of button at the side. (Doesn't sound very original, does it? :P) No matter how the user holds the device, the canvas should remain in place and should not be rotated. The simplest way to achieve this would be to support just one orientation. However, I would like the images on the buttons to rotate (like in the iPhone camera app) when the device is rotated. UIPopoverControllers should also use the users current orientation (and not appear sideways). What is the best way to achieve this? (I figured I could rotate the canvas back into place with an affineTransform, but I don't think it is ideal.) Thanks in advance!

  Hello, I'm looking for advise on how to share certain bits of data (i.e. post-submit confirmation messages) between individual requests in a web application. Let me explain: Current approach: user submits an add/edit form for a resource if there were no errors, user is shown a confirmation with links to: submit a new resource (for "add" form) view the submitted/edited resource view all resources (one step above in hierarchy) user then has to click on one of the three links to proceed (i.e. to the page "above") Progmatically, the form and its confirmation page are one set of classes. The page above that is another. They can technically share code, but at the moment they are both independent during processing of individual requests. We would like to amend the above as follows: user submits an add/edit form for a resource if there were no errors, the user is redirected to the page with all resources (one step above in hierarchy) with one or more confirmation messages displayed at the top of the page (i.e. success message, to whom was the request assigned, etc) This will: save users one click (they have to go through a lot of these add/edit forms) the post-submit redirect will address common problems with browser refresh / back-buttons What approach would you recommend for sharing data needed for the confirmation messages between the two requests, please? I'm not sure if it helps, it's a PHP application backed by a RESTful API, but I think that this is a language-agnostic question. A few simple solutions that come to mind are to share the data via cookies or in the session, this however breaks statelessness and would pose a significant problem for users who work in several tabs (the data could clash together). Passing the data as GET parameters is not suitable as we are talking about several messages which are dynamic (e.g. changing actors, dates). Thanks, M.

  i am working on this form. i am using lightbox and dhtml fade effects. the content in my lightbox is a form. i am using jquery to validate the form. once the form is submitted, i redirect a user back to a thank you page. what i am noticing is that, once all the above events has taken place, i cannot click anywhere on my screen, all the links/buttons are sort of disable. i need to press F5 to refresh the page to be able to click anywhere on the page again? is this happening because i am using jquery validation and an events already took place, how do i resolve this as i am a newbie to jquery. thanks

  I am working on a twitter based app and am trying to incorporate Android's built-in Account support for Twitter. The following code works to popup the confirmation dialog for my app to access twitter but I am unsure of what to pass in as the authenticationType. Any help would be appreciated. I've googled all over the place and can't seem to find the correct answer. It goes in place of "oauth" below. • NSAutoreleasePool carrying across methods?

  I'm building an iPhone application where I detach some threads to do long-running work in the background so as not to hang the UI. I understand that threads need NSAutoreleasePool instances for memory management. What I'm not sure about is if the threaded method calls another method - does that method also need an NSAutoreleasePool? Example code: - (void)primaryMethod { [self performSelectorInBackground:@selector(threadedMethod) withObject:nil]; } - (void)threadedMethod { NSAutoreleasePool *aPool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; // Some code here [self anotherMethod]; // Maybe more code here [aPool drain]; } - (void)anotherMethod { // More code here } The reason I ask is I'm receiving errors that objects are being autoreleased with no pool in place, and are "just leaking." I've seen other questions where people didn't have autorelease pools in place at all, and I understand why an autorelease pool is needed. I'm specifically interested in finding out whether an autorelease pool created in (in this example) threadedMethod applies to objects created in anotherMethod.

It will be in one place if you scroll to the top of the page, and as you scroll down, at some point, where its original home is about to scroll off the page, it will switch to fixed position, and stay on your screen. (To see an example, click here.) My question is, how can I accomplish the same effect of having a menu be in one place when scrolled up, and switch to fixed position as the user scrolls down? I know this will involve a combination of CSS and javascript. I'm not necessarily looking for a full example of working code, but what steps will my code need to go through?

• Determining when stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString has finished

  I have a UIWebView which loads up an HTML page. This page has two buttons on it, say Exit and Submit. I don't want users to be able to click the Exit button, so once the page has finished loading (ie. webViewDidFinishLoad is called), I use stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString to remove one of these buttons, by manipulating the HTML. I also disable user interaction on the UIWebView on webViewDidStartLoad, and enable it again on webViewDidFinishLoad. The problem I am finding is that stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString takes a second or two to complete, and it seems to be done in it's own thread. So what is happening is that webViewDidFinishLoad is called, user interaction is enabled on the UIWebView, and if the user is quick, they can click the Exit button before stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString has finished. As stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString seems to be on it's own thread with no way to know when it's finished (it doesnt call webViewDidFinishLoad), the only way to completely prevent users from tapping the Exit button that I can see is to only enable user interaction on the UIWebView after some delay, which is unreliable (how can I really know how long to delay for?). Am I correct in that stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString is done on it's on thread, and I have no way of being able to tell when it's finished? Any other suggestions for how to get around this problem? EDIT: In short, what I want to know is if it is possible to disable a UIWebView while stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString is executing, and re-enable the UIWebView when the javascript is finished.   Hi guys, I like to know how to get the ClientID/UniqueID of a control inside a Detailsview controls EditItemTemplate element and when DetailsViews changing to Edit mode and DetailsView is inside a AJAX UpdatePanel. So i'm trying to get the ClientID of this checkbox when Detailsview is changing to the Edit mode. I need this value for handling Javascript.   I'm learning Cocoa, and I've gotten undo to work without much trouble. But the setActionName: method is puzzling me. Here's a simple example: a toy app whose windows contain a single text label and two buttons. Press the On button and the label reads 'On'. Press the Off button and the label changes to read 'Off'. The item in the Edit menu reads 'Redo Turn Off Label', not 'Redo Turn On Label'. (When I click that menu item, the label does turn to On, as I'd expect, but this makes the menu item's name even more of a mystery. What am i misunderstanding, and how can I get these menu items to display the way I want them to?

• Accessing a control in asp.net content page through Javascript

  Hi, I have a form in my content page for which I am doing some client side validations via Javascript. The Javascript behaves as expected if I place the JS code directly in the content page. But if I place the JS code in it's own file and try accessing that from the content/master page (through the script tag's src attribute), I get a run time error when the validation function in JS being called. To be specific, I get the below error. Microsoft JScript runtime error: Objected expected/required at this line - document.getElementById('<%=txtemailId.ClientID %').value txtemailId is in the content page. Javascript code is placed in validation.js and accessed via master page. The reason I guess is that when .net is parsing the files, it is unable to substitute txtemailId.ClientID with the client side value that would be generated later on. So, how should one go about it?   Hi there I have an idea for a site where there would be no refreshing and all interactions take place via AJAX. The page would load with central space, where all interaction would take place. If a user clicked on a link, the page would request it via AJAX and replace the rectangle's content with the link content. The idea is effectively an AJAX implemented iframe. Are there any disadvantages with this approach? Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on the idea?   PHP, ColdFusion, and ASP (among many others) are usually sold on their strengths. What are their weaknesses? If one were to develop a niche product to handle the things that these products weren't so good at, what should it focus on? EDIT I'm trying to figure out what things PHP etc are bad at. They're all good at doing the nuts and bolts stuff, if one is looking with a bottom-to-top mindset. I'm thinking a little more globally, more top-to-bottom; what's difficult to achieve in PHP/ASP/CF without thousands of lines of code and twenty minutes of server time? EDIT Suppose company A comes up to you and says, "We want you to do x in PHP." What values of x will cause you to say, "Forget it, buddy, no one in their right mind would use PHP for that"? (swap PHP in the above quote for your favourite tool) EDIT Have we got to the point where everyone's needs can be met with PHP frameworks, Rails and ... er ... Java?

  Hello I want to put my html navigation in a separate php file so when I need to edit it, I only have to edit it once. The problem starts when I want to add the class active to the active page. I've got three pages and one common file. common.php : <?php $nav = <<<EOD <div id="nav"> <ul> <li><a <? if($page == 'one'): ?> class="active"<? endif ?> href="index.php">Tab1</a>/</li> <li><a href="two.php">Tab2</a></li> <li><a href="three.php">Tab3</a></li> </ul> </div> EOD; ?> index.php : All three pages are identical except their $page is different on each page. <?php $page = 'one'; require_once('common.php'); ?> <html> <head></head> <body> <?php echo $nav; ?> </body> </html> This simply won't work unless I put my nav on each page, but then the whole purpose of separating the nav from all pages is ruined. Is what I want to accomplish even possible? What am I doing wrong? Thanks EDIT: When doing this, the php code inside the li don't seem to run, it's just being printed as if it was html

• Updating a listitem in an ASPX page in SharePoint Designer

  Hey All, Right now I'm using SharePoint Designer to create a new aspx page. I am using a data view to display information from a list. One of the fields in the list is a choice field. I was wondering if there was anyway that I could display all of the other fields but allow one field in the list to be edited on the page without adding an edit link. Ideally, I would like a user to go in and be able to edit a field value (hopefully in a drop down list) within a data view without being redirected to the list or a form. I'm thinking there is a way to do this through javascript to embed inside the HTML or through a workflow of some sort. I'm new to javascript and don't know how to do this. I have tried to insert a drop down list and provide a data source for it but it will only show all of the field values in the list. Thus, I am unable to display the choice options, show the current value in the listitem and edit/update the listitem. Hopefully this makes sense. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks a lot, Andy

I will place all the require information in a javascript variable or array at the bottom of the page. Then I will use javascript to place the content in the designated area. These are the types of things I would like javascript to render: Login menu Header and logo info Side bar info Footer info Dialog popups Ads All of the MEAT content will not be rendered by javascript. I will use the backend server to put the content in html. My logic is that more of the real content will be in HTML and all the other things will be rendered by javascript. Will this help or hurt SEO?

  I need to draw custom shapes. Now when a user clicks on several points on the panel I create a shape using a polygon. public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e) { polygon.addPoint(e.getX(), e.getY()); repaint(); } But I don't know if this is the best way to draw custom shapes. It should be possible to edit a drawn shape: resize change its fill color change the stroke color copy/paste it move a single point of the polygon ... I have seen people creating an own class implementing the Shape class and using a GeneralPath. But again I have no idea if this is a good way. Now I can create my own shape with a polygon (or with a GeneralPath) but I have no clue how to attach all the edit functions to my own shape (the edit functions I mean the resize, move, etc from above). I hope somebody could show me a way to do this or maybe write a little bit of code to demonstrate this. Thanks in advance!!

• Can jQuery UI's Sortable handle complex selectors for the items option?

  I have list items in an unordered list that when double clicked, can be edited in place via a wysiwyg editor. $('ul.mtm_section').sortable({ disabled: true, distance: 10, items: '> li:not(:has(form))' }); My goal is to prevent the list item from being sorted while it is being edited - aka once a form element has been swapped in place of the contents. Unfortunately my selector for items is not working. Is sortable able to handle complex selectors like these? If not, are there other clever means to disable some items from being sortable, perhaps a callback function? I would prefer to rely on this sortable option, as the wysiwyg plugin is deeply nested with jEditable and as far as I know does not open up any events for me to hook into. Using jQuery 1.4.2 and jQuery UI 1.8.1

• Flex DataGridColumn with array of objects as data provider

  I have a datagrid that uses an array of objects as the data provider. The objects are essentially key/value pairs: { foo:"something"} { bar:"hello"} { caca:"lorem"} The datagrid has 2 columns. The first column is the key and the second column is the value. Right now my grid looks like: My dataFormatter function makes sure that depending on the column (i.e. the dataField value) the correct key or value gets printed out. This works fine for displaying. However, as soon as I try and edit the value field it essentially adds a new value into the object with a key of '1'. For example, if I edit the {caca:"lorem"} object it will then contain the value {caca:"lorem",1:"new value"}. Is there any possible way I can set the DataGridColumn so that when I edit a value it will update the value associated with the key rather than inserting a new value? I've tried using a custom item editor but it still does the insert. It seems like I need to be able to update the 'dataField' with the actual key value but I'm not sure how to do that.

• When is a Google Maps API key required?

  Recently Google changed it's policy on the use API keys. You're now supposed to no longer need an API key to place Google Maps on your website. And this worked perfectly. But now I have this map (without API key) running on my localhost, which works fine. But as soon as I place it online, I get a popup saying that I need another API key. And on another page on that website, Google Maps does work. Could it maybe have something to do with that the map that doesn't work have a lot (30+) of markers on it? Actually using an API key wouldn't be a very nice solution to me, as this is part of a Wordpress plugin used on many websites.
