  • Can't create flex4 project in flexbuilder using remoting or LiveCycle Data Servcies ES

    I'm trying out the FlasBuilder ide with ColdFusion 8 on OS X. When I try to create a new project, I get stuck at the server setup screen that forces you to validate your paths for your ColdFusion root folder and your webroot. Every combination I try says either "LiveCycle Data Services is not installed at the specified location" or "Invalid root. The WEB-INF/flex folder must contain either flex-config.xml or services-config.xml." The flex-config.xml file is sitting in that directory. Is there some trick to getting this to work?

  • How to check if a SWF is running as an AIR app?

    Hi, I'm wondering if there is a way for a SWF to check at runtime whether it is running as an online SWF or an AIR app? I need to use the same SWF to run both online and locally, however when running as an AIR app, external assets are located in a different directory. I'd like to check whether a SWF is local or online so I can change the source path for external assets accordingly. Thanks, Sandro Edit: I just realized this might be a dumb question. :) I may just use flashvars to tell the SWF that it is running within an AIR app.

  • Flex Client application - HTTPRequest problem in the initialize function.

    Hello all. I have a serious problem in my flex client applications. I have an apache server with php web services. the flex client makes an httpservice requests. I noticed that the httpservice requests that runs from the creationComplete event of the application does not always get data from the server. but HTTPservice requests called from user actions always work.   • loading child swf as3

    Hi, I've been given an fla to make some changes too. Basically its a fairly long timeline animation with sound. So far I've successfully added a few button functions for sound etc.. but one has got me stumped. One of the buttons needs to load a child swf. I'm using the code below but I'm recieving an error - 'Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference'.   • Can seekToNavCuePoint be used with flvs streamed via RTMP?

    I have been able to create the actionscript required to use seekToNavCuePoint with a locally hosted flv with embedded cuepoints. Once I switch to having it on our RTMP server the cuepoints are not available it seems. Lots of googleing has me coming up short. This is using the FLVPlayback component and ActionScript 3.

  • AS3 Memory Conservation (Loaders/BitmapDatas/Bitmaps/Sprites)

    I'm working on reducing the memory requirements of my AS3 app. I understand that once there are no remaining references to an object, it is flagged as being a candidate for garbage collection. Is it even worth it to try to remove references to Loaders that are no longer actively in use? My first thought is that it is not worth it. Here's why: My Sprites need perpetual references to the Bitmaps they display (since the Sprites are always visible in my app). So, the Bitmaps cannot be garbage collected. The Bitmaps rely upon BitmapData objects for their data, so we can't get rid of them. (Up until this point it's all pretty straightforward). Here's where I'm unsure of what's going on: Does a BitmapData have a reference to the data loaded by the Loader? In other words, is BitmapData essentially just a wrapper that has a reference to loader.content, or is the data copied from loader.content to BitmapData? If a reference is maintained, then I don't get anything by garbage collecting my loaders... Thoughts?

I was hoping to either change the image the Graphic is an instance of or change the Graphic I am using in the current frame.     What's the best way to organize functionality modules in a flex project? I saw some people put all modules in one view stack ,and so the application interface is only load once, but when the application get larger, the whole compiled swf would be very big. If we put swfs in different pages, we pass request parameters through HTTP request, we lost the benefits from flex RPC services, slow loading, and we can't see any superior comparing to php,asp,jsp... what's the best practice to organize front end architecture?

  • DisplayObject.rotation not matching trig functions

    I'm trying to label an animated pie chart, and I've been having a great deal of trouble getting rotated objects to line up with trigonometrically-positioned objects. So, for example, if I have a pie piece that's middle is angle theta and has been rotated n degrees in a tween, and then I try to position a label with code like this: label.x = center.x + Math.cos((theta + n)/180 * Math.PI) * radius; label.y = center.y + Math.sin((theta + n)/180 * Math.PI) * radius; the label is often not aligned with the center of the pie slice. Since I am also zooming in to the pie chart a great deal, the error becomes significant enough that it occasionally causes the label to miss the pie slice altogether. The error seems relatively unpredictable, and it looks a great deal like a rounding error, but I don't see any obvious rounding going on (the trig functions evaluate to ten or so decimal places, which should be more than enough here). How can I get these labels to position correctly?

  • No mic activity with setLoopBack set to false - AS3

    Trying to figure out why setloopback needs to be set to true for microphone activity to be detected. The problem is the echo feedback when using a macbook with a built in mic. If anyone has some ideas about this let me know. Right now I'm experimenting with toggling gain, depending on activity to simulate echo reduction. Not optimal though. @lessfame

  • Is it possible to resize a SpriteAsset without adding it to the display list?

    Hi guys, I have an embedded image asset (with a scale9 grid), and I'm trying to get the bitmapdata when it's resized, but I can't seem to do this without adding it to the display list. I try this: spriteAsset.setActualSize(w,h); spriteAsset.width = w; bmd.draw(spriteAsset); But when I then draw out the bitmapdata with graphics.beginBitmapFill(), I just get the original un-stretched image. Any pointers? Or do I need to take 9 separate BitmapData images and make 9 separate bitmap fills? Cheers, -Josh

  • Adobe Air upload progress without FileReference

    I'm deploying a small application with Adobe Air. My application will do batch upload from filepath which stored in a text file. For example, in a text file name "list.txt", there is a string "C:\myfiles\IMG_0001.JPG". Now I want to upload this image file, keep tracking of upload progress :-< I want to use FileReference to get the upload progress, but I don't know how to import from file's path. I also wonder how to use FileReference to upload this file without prompting a dialog for user to select file. Thank you so much :)

    How can I connect my counter to my display list?I've got a counter and a displaylist working, but I need help with everything in between. Try to explain I finished a Snowflake tutorial. The snowballs are children that are called to the stage. When connected to a dynamic variable, they move around and look like snow. I want my counter to move numbers around.
