  • svnserve, Mac OS X Lion Server and user accounts

    I am trying to use the "built-in" user accounts of my Mac OS X Lion server to grant access to repositories. Currently I am using the conf/passwd file (which works), but I don't like the fact that the passwords are visible as plain text. Is there a way to "connect" the svnserve access restriction to the normal user accounts that are already on the system? Thanks PS: I am not wanting to connect via Apache/WebDav - there I know it works. I want to connect via svn:// using the existing user accounts.

  • Mac OS 10.7 Missing Java Completely

    I'm in dire straights. I was trying to replace my java JDK and downgrade to 1.6 and somehow managed to completely screw up all the previous versions in the process. Bottom line, my Mac has no JDK installed at all. I've tried reinstalling java 1.7 from Oracle, I've tried using Pacifist to manually extract the files from the 1.6 Apple Java... nothing. When I open terminal and use java -version all I get is -bash: java: command not found My real goal is just to get back to java 1.7, but even after running the installer, java is still inaccessible to terminal and other applications.

  • MS Word Mac unable to use form in document

    I have a Word document given to me by a client. It is an employment application with form fields that the client wants to be downloadable from her web site. I'm opening it in Word 2008 for Mac (12.2.4). When I try to fill out the form, Word will not allow me to fill out the fields, it just treats them as objects that can be replaced or moved. It also will not allow me to turn off Track Changes, and it will not allow me to change the locked status of the form (the buttons are grayed out). Any idea what's going on here?

  • Google document does not print correctly on Mac 10.7.5 using Chrome

    When attempting to print a Google document, the header does not get printed at all and the text starts almost in the center of the page - cutting off almost half of the text in the printable area horizontally. The vertical alignment appears fine, with the exception of hte missing header. I have searched the product forums at Google, but they are virtually unusable. Endless threads without a solution! For reference, the document prints fine from Windows XP using Chrome. I can also print from other applications on the Mac without issue - so I am thinking it's a Google doc issue at this point.

  • Upgrade to java 1.7 in eclipse on mac

    I'm sort of a beginner with eclipse but I want to update the libraries or build path or whatever to java 1.7 from java 1.6 and I can't figure it out. I'm a computer science student at the university of washington and various TA's and students have tried to figure out this problem but it's stumped them all. I've installed java 1.7 from Oracle a few times already and the java section of system preferences says I have 1.7 but java -version in terminal says: java version "1.6.0_41" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_41-b02-445-11M4107) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.14-b01-445, mixed mode) What's going on here? My mac is totally up to date on everything else

  • VPN on PC vs Mac

    I am trying to connect to a VPN from my home computer, as opposed to my work computer which already has the network info set up. I have received instructions on connecting from a mac, but since I don't have that I'm trying to do the equivalent on my PC. I know the: server group name secret and my own login account and password Using the Windows 7 VPN, there's space for: Internet address destination name user name password domain (optional) I'm trying to determine what's what. I assume the internet address is the server. I've tried using the "secret" as the Password, b/c i'd think the first part is connecting to the VPN as opposed to logging in. It still wants a user name though. I tried mine, I tried the "group name". I would appreciate your help with this. Thanks!

    My buddy deleted her System folder from her PPC Mac wanting to get that space for something else. She copied it first in another drive (she had partitioned disk).She haven't emptied the Trash Bin yet. The screen just froze right after she moved the folder to Trash. We tried to use the install disk but even if we try Power-C on booting,it would try to continue,display the apple logo page then quickly follow it with black screen filled with dumps of hex codes and "We are hanging here..." We have a Windows-based PC that we tried to connect using ethernet cable but we can't find her computer from there. What should we do now???

  • Changing Chrome Working Directories on Mac clients

    We're using Mac OSX 10.6.8 with NFS for home directories. Chrome seems to not like this, for a user who is logged in more than one machine. AFP was ok, but for other reasons we need NFS. It only allows you to start one instance. Ie, userA logged in to Mac1, Mac2. Can only have chrome open on Mac1 OR mac2, not both. I have read at this thread, changing working directory, and sym link can fix... but I can't find the details. Can someone help?

    Just for a new mac server in the office, initially it was for my personal use as a web development box but now the boss wants me to set it up with all the bells and whistles it comes with. I'm having some issues with the following... Lets just say my business is example.com I want the server's actual address to be labs.example.com and accessible to the world. What do I need to set up at my domain registrar to let the domain know where to go, and what do I need to set up with my hosting company to make this work, and finally what do I need to set up in the server admin panel to get it to work. It seems that DNS not working is first hurdle I need to jump but the documentation around the internet is pretty terrible. Thank you community.

  • C# COM objects with VB6/asp error

    I'm trying to expose a C# class library via COM so that I can use it in a classic asp web site. I've used sn - k, regasm and gacutil. About all I can do now though is echo back strings. Methods which take Class variables as input are not working for me. ie my test method EchoPerson(Person p) which returns a string of the first and last name doesn't work. I get a runtime error 5 - Invalid procedure call or argument. Please let me know what I am missing. Also I have no intellisence in VB. What do I need to do to get the intellisence working.   • Post a form from asp to asp.Net

    I have a classic asp application. I want to post a contest form from that page to an Asp.Net form. The reason is that I want to use a lot of logic i have built into an Asp.Net page for validation before entering into the database and I don't know asp very well. Not to mention asp.Net being more secure. What's the best way to accomplish this goal? My thoughts are as follows: My asp Page: <html> <body> <form action="/Contests/entry.aspx" method="post"> Name: <input type="text" name="fname" size="20" /> Last Name: <input type="text" name="lname" size="20" /> <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> </form> </body> </html> aspx page is running in a Virtual Directory and would handle anything posted to it. Is this possible, or does aspx prevent this kind of thing? I ( preferably ) don't want to create the form in aspx as my colleague wants to have control of the page and build the html himself and I don't want the hassle of constantly changing it. Are there caveats I need to consider? What roadblocks will I run into? How do I access the Posted Form Values? Request.Form?

  • Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e14' Could not find stored procedure

    I am migrating a classic ASP web app to new servers. The database back end is migrating from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2008, and the app is moving from Win2000 x86 to Win2003R2 x64. I am getting the above error on every single stored procedure call within the application. I have verified: Yes, the SQL user is set up, using correct username and password Yes, the SQL user has execute permissions on the stored procedures in the database Yes, I have updated the TypeLib references to the new UUID Yes, I have logged into the database via SSMS with the SQL user id and it can see and execute the stored procedures just fine in SSMS, but not from the web app. Yes, the SQL user has the database set as its default database. The most frustrating thing is it works fine on the DEV server, but not on the production server. I have gone through every IIS setting 5 or 6 times and the web app is set up precisely the same in both environments. The only difference is the database server name in the connection string (DEV vs prod) EDIT: I have also tried pointing the prod web box at the dev database server and get the same error so I'm fairly sure the issue isn't on the database side.

  • Is it possible to unstick a remote IIS ASP server after an exception hangs the session?

    I have been coding an app in classic ASP that accesses 2 Access databases. I had a page I was working on throw an exception, which is normal during development and causes no lasting problems. This time however, after the exception any attempt to open either of the databases would freeze the session with an infinite script timeout. If I delete the session cookie I an able to access ASP pages again until I try to open the database again. The database that was open when the exception was thrown is left open. There is a LDB lock file and I can't rename or delete either the LDB or MDB file, though I can download the MDB file with FTP. The 2nd access database is not open but any attempt to read this also hangs the session. Accessing HTML pages is fine. The site is hosted with Hostway and they are not interested ("Coding problem = Your problem" even though it leaves my site dead in the water, I suspect until the next reboot, whenever that might be). Here is the dump from the relevant ASP page that threw the exception: Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0115' Unexpected error /translatestats.asp A trappable error (C0000005) occurred in an external object. The script cannot continue running. Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0240' Script Engine Exception /translatestats.asp A ScriptEngine threw exception 'C0000005' in 'IActiveScript::Close()' from 'CActiveScriptEngine::FinalRelease()'. Is there any way I can unstick the site / force close the database remotely ?

  • Does anyone knows the algorithm how Facebook detects the images when adding a link

    When you add a link to your Facebook page, after some processing, Facebook presents you a next/prev button to choose an image linked to the url your are inserting. Obviously, Facebook reads the html-page and displays the images found on the url you insert. Does anyone knows what algorithm Facebook uses to decide what images to show ? If I insert a link to : http://www.staplijst.be/lachende-wandelaars-aalter-aktivia-003.asp, only 11 images are detected. The one I want, the one at the top right corner, is not included in the list. If I insert a link to http://www.staplijst.be/stichting-kennedymars-rijsbergen-zundert-nederland-knblo-nl-81996.asp, 19 images are displayed (including the one I want (the one at the right top corner of the text area). Both pages are build using asp code but are functionally the same. I thought that it has something to do with the image size, but can't find any deciding factor there. I will investigate some furhter, because if I know what Facebook is looking for, I can make sure that the correct images are included on the page (since they are dynamic pages build with classic asp). But if anyone has any idea ? Help would be appreciated.

Your computer may not have enough memory to open the image, or the image may be corrupted. Restart your computer, and then open the file again. If the red x still appears, you may have to delete the image and then insert it again. If i copy the html code and try to open the word document on my local machine, it displays the image correctly. It just doesn't work when retrieving the document from the server. This happens for any images I try to add. Is there another way to add images to html-generated word documents that can be output from an asp page? Thanks.

  • Is anyone familiar with SDPT.clsSDPT?

    Normally I wouldn't ask this kind of question here, but I'm desperate at this point. I'm attempting to support a classic ASP app written by a predecessor who is no longer available. Keeping it short, several applications use a dll to perform encryption of sensitive data. This dll is named SDPT.dll, and the line of code used to create an object is set objSDPT = server.CreateObject("SDPT.clsSDPT") At this point, I am getting errors in a critical app on one of my servers, and I've actually hit a dead end. The error is a standard "Server.CreateObject Failed" message, which I know how to troubleshoot in most cases. However, in this case, all of my normal tries, plus several hours of Google searches are coming up with nothing that works. At this point, I'm not so much looking for help in troubleshooting the issue as I am in finding any sort of reference on this third party component. Even finding that is proving to be difficult, so I'm resorting to asking any of the seasoned developers that hang out here if they are familiar with this product, who it was developed by, and if any documentation on it exists anywhere.

  • ASP can't connect to SQL Server database

    I'm trying to get a classic ASP application to connect to a local SQL Server 2008 database. The app and database were built by someone else. I'm just trying to get them installed and running on my machine (Windows 7). I'm getting the following error when when the ASP app tries to connect to the database: Could not connect to database: Error Number: -2147467259 Error Message: [ConnectionOpen (Connect()).] does not exist or access denied. I don't see any messages in the Windows Event Viewer. I'm looking at: Event Viewer-Windows Logs-Application. It's a fresh database install using a simple restore. The SQL Server install uses the default instance. SQL Server and Windows authentication are both allowed. I left the existing connection string (in the ASP code) in tact and just tried adding that to my SQL Server installation. Here's the connection string: strConn = "PROVIDER=SQLOLEDB;SERVER=localhost;UID=TheUser;PWD=ThePassword;DATABASE=TheDatabase;" To add that user to SQL Server, I went to Security/Logins in SSMS and added the user and the password. I selected the database in question as the Default database. I thought that might do the trick, but it didn't. Then, I went into TheDatabase, then went into Security there. I added a new user there, referencing the new user I had already added in server Security. Under Owned Schemas, I clicked db_owner and under Role Members I checked db_accessadmin and db_owner. None of this gave the ASP application access to the database. The sid values match in sys.database_principals and sys.server_principals for the login in question. I am able to login to SSMS using this login. The app needs to execute selects against the database like this: oConn.Execute('select * from someTable') I'm not a DBA and am sort of grasping at straws here. How do I get this thing connected?     I have the following problem I have a web framework built with classic asp that saves the page state in hidden textboxes, and then issues a submit to itself. Before submitting, we have a javascript functions that saves the action in a hidden "action" input, and then performs the submit. The page loads the state from those hidden texts, reads the action issued, reads extra parameters, like the id of the record to edit, and then builds the page accordingly. I'd like to make a url link to automatically start the page with "edit" action on a "x" id. So I was thinking about building the following url, for example http://myapp/user?action=edit&id=23 the problem is that when the page auto-submits, que url string keeps the parameters. I'd like to achieve the following: when the user clicks on http://myapp/user?action=edit&id=23 my page should receive the posted values action=edit and id=23 but the url should be just http://myapp/user and both parameters should be kept in the hidden texts... (I wonder if I make myself clear...) thanks a lot saludos sas ps: I have a couple of ideas about how to solve it, but I'll post them as answers...

  • An Erroneous SQL Query makes browser hang until script timeout exceeded

    I have an admin page in a Classic ASP web application that allows the admin user to run queries against the database (SQL Server 2000) Whats really strange is that if the query you send has an error in it (an invalid table join, a column you've forgotten to group by etc) the BROWSER hangs (CPU usage goes to maximum) until the SERVER script timeout is exceeded and then spits out a timeout exceeded error (server and browser are on different machines, so not sure how this happens!) I have tried this in IE 8 and FF 3 with the same result. If you run that same query (with errors) directly from SQL Enterprise Manager, it returns the real error immediately. Is this a security feature? Does anyone know how to turn it off? My user wants the page to display the columns of data in a different order than they come in from the database. Is there an easy and safe way to re-order the columns in an ADO recordset?
