    I have a trait and an implementation looking like: trait Foo[A] { def bar[B >: A: Ordering]: Foo[B] } class FooImpl[A]( val a: A, val values: List[Foo[A]] ) extends Foo[A] { def bar[B >: A] = { /* concrete implementation */} } I would like to use the @specialized annotation on A and B to avoid autoboxing. Do I need to use it in both trait and implementation, only in implementation, or only in trait ?

However when I try to create a branch with the slash character, I get an error: $ git branch foo/bar error: unable to resolve reference refs/heads/labs/feature: Not a directory fatal: Failed to lock ref for update: Not a directory Same problem for (my initial attempt): $ git checkout -b foo/bar How does one create a branch in Git with the slash character?

  • Why is my Interface Builder wiring so bonkers and what can I do to straighten it out?

    I've been working on an iPhone application in XCode and Interface Builder of the Tab Bar project type. After getting a table view of topics (business sectors) working fine I realized that I would need to add a Navigation Control to allow the user to drill into a subtopics (subsectors) table. As a green Objective-C developer, that was confusing, but I managed to get it working by reading various documentation trying out a few different IB options. My current setup is a Tab Bar Controller with Tab 1 as a Navigation Controller and Tab 2 a plain view with a Table View placed into it. The wiring works: I can log when table rows are selected and I'm ready to push a new View Controller onto the stack so that I can display the subtopics Table View. My problem: For some reason the first tab's Table View is a delegate and dataSource of the second ta. It doesn't make sense to me and I can't figure out why that's the only setup that works. Here is the wiring: Navigation Controller (Sectors) is a delegate of Tab Bar Navigation Bar is a delegate of Navigation Controller (Sectors) View Contoller (Sectors) has a view of Table View Table View (in Navigation Controller (Sectors)) is a delegate of First View Controller (Companies) Table View (in Navigation Controller (Sectors)) is a dataSource outlet of First View Controller (Companies) First View Controller (Companies) First View Contoller (Sectors) has a view of Table View Table View (in First View Controller (Companies)) is not hooked up to a dataSource outlet and is not a delegate When I click the tab buttons and look at the Inspector I see that the first tab is correctly hooked up to my MainWindow.xib and the second tab has selected a nib called SecondView.xib. It's in the File's Owner of MainWindow.xib where I inherit UITableViewDataSource and UITableViewDelegate (and also UITabBarControllerDelegate) in the .h, and in the .m where I implement the delegate methods. Why does this setup only work when the Table View in my first tab (View Controller (Sectors)) is a delegate and dataSource of the second tab? I'm confused: why wouldn't it need to be hooked up to the Navigation Controller-enabled tab in which the Table View is seen (Navigation Controller (Sectors))? The Table View seen on the second tab has neither dataSource and is not a delegate.     Imagine you have an object foo that you saved as saved.file.rda as follows: foo <- 'a' save(foo, file='saved.file.rda') Suppose you load saved.file.rda into an environment with multiple objects but forgot the name of the object that is in saved.file.rda. Is there a way in R to determine that name? You can do it the following way, which seems a little clunky: bar <- load('saved.file.rda') eval(parse(text=bar)) # this will pull up the object that was in saved.file.rda However, is there a better way of doing this?

  • Best practise for overriding static classes

    As it is not possible to override a static class in c#, if i want to override a method I generally define a delegate matching the signature of the static method, then modify the method along the lines of: public static void foo(int bar) { if (delegatename!=null) { delegatename.Invoke(bar); } else { //execute previous code as normal } } I feel a twinge of guilt, knowing this is a bit messy. Can anyone suggest a neater solution to this problem (other than rewriting the original structure)

    Is there a way to absolutely position an UI element on Android so that it is located outside an Activity? For example: can you create a fullscreen ImageView simply by moving/resizing an ImageView inside an existing regular Activity instead of creating a new fullscreen activity? EDIT: Re-reading my question I see I wasn't very clear about what I'm trying to accomplish. I'd like to temporarily extend an element to cover the notification bar at the top of the screen. I need to create a semitranslucent fullscreen overlay but since translucent activities cannot cover the notification bar I'm trying to find out if it's possible for an element to break out of activity's bounds and resize itself to fill the whole screen, top to bottom.

    I'd like to execute the following sort of query through sqlite3-ruby: SELECT * FROM foo WHERE bar IN (:items) and bind :items to one or many literals. Is this possible? The obvious technique of passing the list of literals as an array as follows doesn't seem to work: db.execute("SELECT * FROM foo WHERE bar IN (:items)", :items=>[3,1]) (In the above example, only the first value in the array is bound to :items.)

  • Paypal recuring IPN signals

    When creating Paypal recurring payments i don't receive any notifications from IPN that the recurring payments were actually made. I do receive the notifications that recurring profiles are created, that regular payments are made, that profile is canceled and so on. But no notifications when Paypal make the recurring payment. The file that process the ipn notification works fine and i think is bug free.It also send me an email every time he got something from Paypal(with row POST data) so i don't think the problem is here. Does Paypal send these notifications.If i set a daily recurring payment i should get a daily notification that payment was made? From what i read in documentation i should get these signals but.. Thanks

    I am trying to define constants in Perl using the use Constant pragma: use Constant { FOO => "bar", BAR => "foo" }; I'm running into a bit of trouble, and hoping there's a standard way of handling it. First of all... I am defining a hook script for Subversion. To make things simple, I want to have a single file where the class (package) I'm using is in the same file as my actual script. Most of this package will have constants involved in it: print "This is my program"; package "MyClass"; use constant { FOO => "bar" }; sub new { yaddah, yaddah, yaddah. I would like my constant FOO to be accessible to my main program. I would like to do this without having to refer to it as MyClass::FOO. Normally, when the package is a separate file, I could do this in my main program: use MyClass qw(FOO); but, since my class and program are a single file, I can't do that. What would be the best way for my main program to be able to access my constants defined in my class? The second issue... I would like to use the constant values as hash keys: $myHash{FOO} = "bar"; The problem is that %myHash has the literal string FOO as the key and not the value of the constant. This causes problems when I do things like this: if (defined($myHash{FOO})) { print "Key " . FOO . " does exist!\n"; } I could force the context: if (defined("" . FOO . "")) { I could add parentheses: if (defined(FOO())) { Or, I could use a temporary variable: my $foo = FOO; if (defined($foo)) { None of these are really nice ways of handling this issue. So, what is the best way? Is there one way I'm missing? By the way, I don't want to use Readonly::Scalar because it is 1). slow, and 2). not part of the standard Perl package. I want to define my hook not to require additional Perl packages and to be as simple as possible to work.

I had a method that used an Object Function Foo(ByRef bar as CustomObject) as Boolean this method generated errors, because some strange .NET Runtime things changed the bar object, causing its Dispose()al. A lot of time spent to understand the thing(where the ... object is changed), until somebody replaced ByRef by ByVal and object wasn't change anymore when passing to this method... Somebody could explain this, what happens?
