• Raid 1 array won't assemble after power outage. How do I fix this ext4 mirror?

  Two ext4 drives on Raid 1 with mdadm won't reassemble after the power went out for an extended period (UPS drained). After turning the machine back on, mdadm said that the array was degraded, after which it took about 2 days for a full resync, which completed without problems. I've tried everything I can think of, including booting and filesystem checking with SystemRescue and Ubuntu liveboot discs.

• Trying to prevent Windows from hibernating/sleeping automatically

  My Dell XPS 8700 (Win 7) suddenly began putting itself to sleep at 6pm daily, even if I'm typing. I don't know what caused this to occur, except possibly a windows update that took place in the middle of the night. I initially went into settings for power and saw 2 plans set up, one from Dell and the other window's Power saver plan. I set both to never for sleep and hibernate yet it still occurred. I have current drivers and a fairly new UPS that has software to set to shutdown only after power loss. Dell is of little help, can anyone point me in the right direction? • Electronic circuit simulator four-way flood-filling issues

  I've made an electronic circuit board simulator which has simply 3 types of tiles: wires, power sources, and inverters. Wires connect to anything they touch, other than the sides of inverters; inverters have one input side and one output side; and finally power tiles connect in a similar manner as wires. In the case of an infinite loop, caused by the output of the inverter feeding into its input, I want inverters to oscillate (quickly turn on/off). I've attempted to implement a FloodFill algorithm to spread the power throughout the grid, but seem to have gotten something wrong, as only the tiles above the power source get powered (as seen below) I've attempted to debug the program, but have had no luck thus far. My code concerning the updating of power can be seen here.

• Mouse Problem on Ubuntu 12.10

  I had a strange mouse problem on Ubuntu 12.10(64-Bit), the problem is that when I turnoff power supply/power goes off, the red laser light of my mouse also goes off and my mouse stops working but it works fine when A/C power supply is on. First I thought my mouse or my laptop's USB ports had problem but since I am using Dual Boot with windows 7, I checked my mouse on windows 7 and it works fine, even I turn off power supply. Today,I thought that I should give a try to Linux Mint 14-RC (which is based on same Ubuntu 12.10) and after installing linux mint when I plugged in my mouse it worked fine even though power is off. Don't know what is really going on, and I am afraid if I reinstall my Ubuntu 12.10 the problem will remain.

• MySQL InnoDB Corruption after power outage, possible to recover?

  Hey Guys, I recently started trying to get Redmine up and running after a power outage that seems to have corrupted our InnoDB database in MySQL. Redmine had an extensive set of documentation that I would like to get even if redmine isn't able to run. The service fails on startup. I have tried inserting innodb_force_recovery = 4 per the documentation from the url in the error log. (also tried 1 thru 6 as I have backed up all directories after the corruption) I have verified through "mysqld-nt --print-defaults" that it is starting with the recovery option in the params. The machine is running Windows Server 2003 SP2, Xeon E5335 with 2GB RAM, MySQL is not mirrored to another machine, nor is the machine a mirror. I do not have any backups because the previous person did not set them up.   I'm thinking of building a game along the lines of Farmville - items, events, time management system etc. Options I am thinking of: 1) Flash UI frontend that uses AMFPHP to get all data for the view from a PHP powered backend. 2) Actionscript to power the whole game Any input is appreciated. My concern with Actionscript is scaling, my concern with PHP is having to build an update system that would need a lot of back and forth xmlhttprequests which might get complicated. If there's a better way to build something like this, I'm all ears :)

• Is this a situation where Qt Model/View architecture is not useful?

  Hi, I am writing a GUI based application where I read a string of values from serial port every few seconds and I need to display most of the values in some type graphical indicator(I was thinking of QprogressBar maybe) that displays the range and the value. Some of the other data that I am parsing from the string are the date and fault codes. Also, the data is hierarchical. I wanted to use the model/view architecture of Qt because I have been interested in MVC stuff for a while but have never quite wrapped my brain around how to implement it very well. As of now, I have subclassed QAbstractItemModel and in the model I read the serial port and wrap the items parsed from the string in a Tree data structure. I can view all of the data in a QtreeView with no issues. I have also began to subclass QAbstractItemView to build my custom view with all of the Graphical Indicators and such. This is where I am getting stuck. It seems to me that in order for me to design a view that knows how to display my custom model the view needs to know exactly how all of the data in the model is organized. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of Model/View? The QTreeView I tested the model with is basically just displaying the model as it is setup in the Tree structure but I don't want to do that because the data is not all of the same type. Is the type of data or the way you would like to present it to the user a determining factor in whether or not you should use this architecture? I always assumed it was just always better to design in an MVC style. It seems to me like it might have been better to just subclass QWidget and then read in from the serial port and update all of subwidgets(graphical indicators, labels, etc...) from the subclass. Essentially, do everything in one class. Does anybody understand this issue that can explain to me either what I am missing or why I shouldn't be doing it this way. As of now I am a little confused. The .modPow method takes a BigInteger as an argument, but I do not want an answer congruent to the value I'm trying to compute. My BigInteger exponent is too large to be represented as an int, can someone suggest a way to work around this limitation?
