  • why does Visual Studio not enforce try-catch-block implementation?

    Coming from Eclipse/Java, I noticed that in VisualStudio/C# it is not mandatory to care about Exceptions. While Eclipse forces the user to implement a try-catch-block or to add a throws declaration, this is not the case in Visual Studio. What is the reason Visual Studio doesn't inform about unhandled exceptions? Can I configure Visual Studio to force me to implement try-catch-blocks, or at least add a compiler-warning?

    if i have two classes x and y, both extend class w. and x implementing interface z. if i have methods doSomething(w object) and doSomething(x object), what would happen if i call doSomething(x)? edit: im implementing this on java, more specifically on android. im asking this because some classes which implement a specific interface mostly does the same thing when doSomething() is called. but there are special cases which i would like to single out.

I am looking for examples of strongly typed, block structured languages where the programmer is responsible for 100% of the code, and there is as little interference from things like a JVM as possible.     All examples I find on shuffling arrays are for NSMutableArrays. Copying an NSArray to an NSMutable array, shuffling, then copying back always crashes the application. Is it even possible to shuffle an NSArray? Anything in objective-c similar to Collections.shuffle() (Java)?

    I'm looking for a way to have the Xcode IDE pick up on the contents of my weird Boost template classes. Basically, classes complex enough that Xcode can't display their contents correctly. Is there something like the Objective C -description method or toString() in Java that Xcode will look for?
