  • Using a comma seperated data in MYSQL "IN" clause

    I have a column in one of my table where I store multiple ids seperated by comma's. Is there a way in which I can use this column's value in the "IN" clause of a query. The column(city) has values like 6,7,8,16,21,2 I need to use as Select * from table where e_ID in (Select city from locations where e_Id=?) I am satisfied with Crozin's answer, but I am open to suggestions, views and options. Feel free to share your views.

  • Table for each region in MySQL

    There are four regions with more than one million records total. Should I create a table with a region column or a table for each region and combine them to get the top ranks? If I combine all four regions, none of my columns will be unique so I will need to also add an id column for my primary key. Otherwise, name, accountId & characterId would be candidate keys or should I just add an id column anyways.     Hi all, I am fetching data from MySql Server into R using RODBC. So in one column of the database is a character vector SELECT MAX(CHAR_LENGTH(column)) FROM reqtable; RETURNS 26566 Now I will show you an example how I am running into the problem `library(RODBC) con <- odbcConnect("mysqlcon") rslts <- as.numeric(sqlQuery(con, "SELECT CHAR_LENGTH(column) FROM reqtable LIMIT 10", as.is=TRUE)[,1]) ` returns > rslts [1] 62 31 17 103 30 741 28 73 25 357 where as rslts <- nchar(as.character(sqlQuery(con, "SELECT column FROM reqtable LIMIT 10", as.is=TRUE)[,1])) returns > rslts [1] 62 31 17 103 30 255 28 73 25 255 So strings with length 255 is getting truncated at 255. Is there a way I can get the full string. Thanks

    I have a column in my DB that is set with Identity(1,1) and I can't get hibernate annotations to work for it. I get errors when I try to create a new record. In my entity I have the following. @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.IDENTITY, generator="native") @Column(name="SeqNo", unique=true, nullable=false) BigDecimal seqNo; But when I try to add a new record I get the following error. Cannot insert explicit value for identity column in table 'MemberSelectedOptions' when IDENTITY_INSERT is set to OFF. I don't want to set IDENTIY_INSERT to ON because I want the identity column in the db to manage the values.     I have a scalar UDF that I know to be deterministic, however SQL doesn't. Is there a way to declare it as deterministic so that I can then use it in a persisted computed column definition? further clarification: The purpose of this exercise is that I need to harvest out specific values from an XML column on the row. I can't use the value method of the xml column in my computed column definition, but I can use it in a UDF. I know the xpath query in the value method will produce the same output give the same input so while I certainly understand that not all calls to value will be deterministic I want to assert that mine is.

    i know this should be simpel and im probably staring straight at the problem but once again im stuck and need the help of the code gurus. im trying too take one row from a column in jdbc, and put them in an array. i do this as follows: public void fillContactList() { createConnection(); try { Statement stmt = conn.createStatement(); ResultSet namesList = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT name FROM Users"); try { while (namesList.next()) { contactListNames[1] = namesList.getString(1); System.out.println("" + contactListNames[1]); } } catch(SQLException q) { } conn.commit(); stmt.close(); conn.close(); } catch(SQLException e) { } creatConnection is an already defined method that does what it obviously does. i creat my result set while theres another one, i store the string of that column into an array. then print it out for good measure. too make sure its there. the problem is that its storing the entire column into contactListNames[1] i wanted to make it store column1 row 1 into [1] then column 1 row 2 into [2] i know i could do this with a loop. but i dont know too take only one row at a time from a single column. any ideas? p.s ive read the api, i jsut cant see anything that fits.

    I want to be able to add links on certain items in an ListView. If an items is surrounded by the link or not is up to the code, so its not in the normal page markup. Say i have a markup like this: <div class="column" wicket:id="columnRepeater"> <span wicket:id="column"></span> </div> So essentially, while filling the repeater with a ListView i am able to find a custom renderer for the column component. (not my playingfield). What i want is to add a Link/Ajax Link around the column component. I learned using wicket:border lets you surround additional stuff. Now, the border markup looks like this: <wicket:border> <a wicket:id="link"><wicket:body/></a> </wicket:border> Now, i am a bit puzzled what the Border implementation looks like. Anyone there who can suggest a working java part? I have a couple of "work in progress" solutions but none works. Most questions have to do with usage of component ids. Is the border id = column ? Whats the id of the inner (border body) id then?

I am wondering why even a single delete statement of this store procedure will cause deadlock if executed by multiple threads at the same time? For the delete statement, Param1 is a column of table FooTable, Param1 is a foreign key of another table (refers to another primary key clustered index column of the other table). There is no index on Param1 itself for table FooTable.     I'm using Computed Columns to provide me with the following information: Hours, Minutes, and Seconds between a Start DateTime and Finish DateTime (Where Minutes and Seconds are between 0 and 59 and Hours can be any value 0 or greater) Computed Column for Seconds: datediff(second,[Start],[Finish]) % 60 Computed Column for Minutes: floor(datediff(second,[Start],[Finish]) / 60.0) % 60 Computed Column for Hours: floor(datediff(second,[Start],[Finish]) / 3600.0) Here's the table for reference Note: I'm also calculating TotalElapsedSeconds, TotalElapsedMinutes, and TotalElapsedHours in other computed columns, but those are easy. I just feel like I might be missing out on a nice built in function in SQL.

  • hibernate empty collection in component

    I have a component mapped using Hibernate. If all fields in the component in the database are null, the component itself is set to null by hibernate. This is the expected behavior and also what I need. The problem I have, is that when I add a bag to that component, the bag is initialized to an empty list. This means the component has a non null value... resulting in the component being created.     I have a big database-like sheet, first row contains headers. I would like a subset of rows of this table based on column values. Two issues: 1) VBA-wise I would like to loop through the columns, when the values for all necessary columns all match, copy the entire row into a new sheet. 2) The subset of rows is based on a list. This should be the first column to be looped through. For example I want all rows where the value in column A is equal to one of the values in my list. Is there any possibility to autofilter strings based on a list (column) of strings? EDIT Thanks to @Doug Glancy the autofiltering works now, so I've removed my (horrible) code and issue 1 is solved.

    I have data this is linked from SQL Server into an excel document. The column format on the SQL Server is datetime2. When I get the data via an ODBC connection it comes across as a string? I tried using CAST(column AS DATE ) but that didn't work. I tried reformatting via CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), column, 103) as well but that didn't work. I tried retrieving the data via Microsoft query as well but that didn't work. At the moment I am using VBA code like: While (ActiveCell.Value <> "") ActiveCell.Value = DATEVALUE(ActiveCell.Value) ActiveCell.Offset(1,0).Activate Wend and looping through each column that needs this treatment but 100000 rows in multiple columns takes forever to loop through. Are there any alternatives?
