  • Reporting Services Error 401: Unauthorized

    I am trying to setup reporting services on a SQL server 2008 and get this error message when I try to connect to the http://localhost/reports The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized. I asked the server administrator and the IIS should be running (can't find it under administrative tools though) I used the Reporting Services Configuration manager to setup reporting services and am pretty sure it is setup correct.

  • Connecting to localhost resolves 127.0.0.1 but connects with external IP [Linux, Debian]

    I'm having a problem with a dedicated server, I don't known if it's the default behavior but this is the problem: If I connect to a service located on the server with localhost the service gets as source IP the external IP. Let me show an example, I use netcat for listening on 127.0.0.1:4444 xxxxxx # nc -vv -l -s 127.0.0.1 -p 4444 listening on [127.0.0.1] 4444 ... Lets check if it's ok: xxxxxx ~ # netstat -atnp | grep 4444 tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:4444 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 14038/nc Ok lets connect: xxxxxx ~ # nc -vv 127.0.0.1 4444 localhost [127.0.0.1] 4444 (?) open Return to the tty that have the listening process and I get this: connect to [127.0.0.1] from xxxxxx.net [176.31.xxx.xx] 50354 So that's the problem. I have a server daemon that have to listen on localhost and checks that the ip is 127.0.0.1 when the client connects but for some reason when I connect to localhost it reports the external ip... If I do the same with IPv6 it works as excepted... Detects connection as localhost (::1).   • Windows System shows wrong amount of RAM?

    I just got an ASUS 1005HA and immediately upgraded it to 2GB of RAM. However, when I open up the Windows System Dialog, it says their is only .99GB of RAM. CPU-Z sees the whole 2GB though. Anybody know what's going on here? EDIT: The BIOS also reports the correct amount of memory in the system.

As Windows users start to see more and more reports of media-based attacks against Windows Media Player (& co.) it would be useful to have a player that has some proactive security approaches to handling exploits.

  • Capturing wirelss traffic (using Wireshark).

    When I run wireshark on a wired network it works fine and reports all of the packets. When I run it on a wireless network though I only see my own traffic. The wireless card I have is supposed to support packet capture and go into premiscous mode, but I don't see any other system traffic. What is wrong?

    I use PeerBlock (former PeerGuardian) and, as a consequence, Yahoo Messenger (actually Pidgin) fails to connect every once in a while; PeerBlock reports the access being blocked because the destination IP is in one of the block lists. Where can I get a list of all IP ranges belonging to Yahoo Messenger so I can configure an "allow" rule in PeerBlock?

  • Nagios not accepting regex in command

    I have this command defined: define command{ command_name check_http_sane command_line $USER1$/check_http -H $HOSTNAME$ -r "HTTP/1.1 (200|301|302|303|304|307|401|418|426)" } When I run it manually on command line, it works fine, but nagios (2.6) reports a "pattern not found" error.     I'm looking for consumer router / firmware recommendations with reasonably robust remote URL / hostname logging & reporting functionality. Most logging functionality I've seen is terrible - reporting only IP addresses, not rolling up reports or reporting any useful statistics. The logs are also often limited to merely the last few minutes/hours when handling high-traffic loads. Bonus points for providing a screenshot of the log reporting interface!

    My cron jobs are trying to mail their results using the local mail feature of Ubuntu (not internet email, the kind of mail you can read with mutt). However, /var/log/syslog reports /USR/SBIN/CRON[19212]: (speedtax) MAIL (mailed 52 bytes of output but got status 0x0006 ) I would like to setup local mail (so that cron can deliver the output successfully) but do not want to setup internet email. Everything I find on google is about the latter.

Now I can't see reports, change accounts, or use any of the Encryption key tools in the configuration manager. I receive a "Creating Encryption Key Backup" error 0x80090016.     I just need good solid double-entry / multi-account transactions with a variety of simple reports. I've previously used Quicken but their file and OS version compatibility issues are a nightmare. I need a software that will have a good chance of still opening the files I create today, several years from now. Quicken has failed me in this regard. So I figure anything that comes with source code is a safer bet.

  • Ubuntu says FAT16, windows says NTF?

    I created a partition on USB harddisk in windows and it reports to be an NTFS partition. Yet in ubuntu 9.10 fdisk says it a FAT16 partition. If I mount with -t ntfs I see nothing, but if I mount without it I see all the files. Can anyone tell me whats going on here? Windows computer disk management definately says its NTFS, and a quick look at the raw data suggests it is NTFS, as I know the FAT16 very well.

    We have an application that uses Active Reports documents. You pass a document the UNC of the printer and away it goes. We have a group that runs this application within a Citrix session and the truly networked printers function perfectly but shared printers that work well outside of Citrix become unreachable. Printers do not need to be defined on the machine running the report for the system to work. There is something in the way Critrix passes the information to the destination UNC that I don’t understand.

  • How do I extend the virsh/qemu/libvirt Timeout?

    There's a known issue with starting virtual machines with large hard drive images. Apparently, the time-out is 3 seconds, but in reality, it can take up to 15 seconds for a machine to start. I've read several bug reports, and people confirming it's a time-out problem, but I have yet to see a solution. Is there an option I can pass, like: virsh start MyMachine --ignore-timeout Or a config file that needs changed? Thanks!
