• Uitableview not able to hold data

  Hi i have a uitableview, i am displaying some data of about 200 rows in it. Data will be displayed in several sections which will be determined at run time. I am able to get sections but i am not able to display data for a particular section in correct order. I have data in the form of dictionaries in an array. • Quick question regarding MVC framework for a java game

  I have a question regarding the use of the MVC framework for a blackjack game im writing in java. As I understand, my model would be a class that stores the state of the game, and more specifically, each players hand. Within the model class, I would have an array of listeners, which would be notified each time the game state changes (ie a player has drawn a new card). These listeners would be my viewer, which is the class that handles the display of the game. This class would implement the ActionListener interface, and each time the model changes, it would call/"notify" my viewer's actionPerformed method. My question is as follows: I intend to have two JPanels, each devoted to displaying the respective player's hand. As a player draws a new card, a new ImageIcon would be added to the panel. My question is how would the viewer class know what card has been added to the player's hand? I suppose I could store the player's hand before a notify event, and then upon the notification event, compare the new state with the old, to find out what has changed. I'm a complete novice here, so I could be completely wrong, but it seems a bit tedious to do this. Is there a more efficient/common way of detecting what has changed in the model between the before and after state? Another solution would be to redraw the entire panel each time the notification occurs? Would this be a better idea?

• How to append html only if the div is empty in jQuery?

Thats OK, however I need to add it only once, so when the user click more times on the span it will be not adding more text. Remove() or empty() is not an option, as far as I know, because I need the information inside input boxes (there will be input boxes later for inserting user info) to stay there and not be deleted if the user click accidentally on the span again. It can however delete the html inside the div, if he clicks on another span. E.g. if span.log is active, after clicking on span.log nothing happens, but if he clicks on span.reg the html inside div.login-part will be removed and registration text will appear. How to do something like this?

For integers values(like users putting in prices), i just: is_numeric(). --How should I use htmlspecialchars? Should I use it only when echoing and displaying user data? Or should I also use this too when inputting data to a dbc? --When should I use strip_tags() or htmlspecialchars? • Chrome Extension - Console Log not firing

  I'm starting to learn to make my own Chrome Extensions, and starting small. At the moment, I'm switching from using the alert() function to console.log() for a cleaner development environment. For some reason, console.log() is not displaying in my chrome console logs. However, the alert() function is working just fine. • How do I show the selected item in an HTML <select> at the top

  I have an HTML select that looks something like this (values are fake) <select size="40"> <option value="1">What would you do if I sang out of tune,</option> <option value="2">Would you stand up and walk out on me?</option> ... more <option value="156">Lend me your ears, and I'll sing you a song,</option> <option selected="selected" value="157">I will try not to sing out of key.</option> <option value="158">Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends.</option> ... more <option value="507">I get high with a little help from my friends.</option> <option value="509">Gonna' try with a little from my friends.</option> </select> The problem that I have is that when displaying the list after loading the page and the selected option is in the middle of the very long list, IE scrolls the selected option to the top of the list (which is what I want). Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Safari show it at the bottom (which I don't want). I have to assume that IE is doing it wrong since everyone else shows it at the bottom. How can I force the browsers to display the selected item at the top of the list. I do not want to put it at the top of the list, I just want it to scroll such that the selected option is at the top. bonus, it would be even better if I can put it fourth from the top, but I can live without that if it's too difficult.

• Multi-user job/task tracking/queue software

  Background: I test and repair electronic products with a team. There are many 'jobs' going through my lab at any point in time. It is getting difficult to track whats coming in and going out because I don't do every test or repair myself. Target: User can enter a job when they drop it off in my lab, and it will appear on the master list or queue. Needs to have priorities and due dates that can be adjusted by users. Ideally this would be web based and open-source, but I am flexible. Dream: A large monitor displaying a list of jobs in the master queue with details. This is very optional though, and would be in the best case scenario. I have done MANY hours of Google-ing and I am not sure if I have been using the right terminology, but I have not found anything that is simple enough to stand alone yet complex enough to be multi-user based. I am mildly proficient in VB, and have the drive to piece anything together that I have to. I am open to ANY help or suggestions.

• [RAILS] Why is ssl_requirement clearing the Flash? (Chrome Mac)

  I am using ssl_requirement and since setting it up, my application's Flash messages are disappearing. I've modified the plugin slightly as accounts can optionally have a domain mapped to their account. In that case the non-ssl areas of the site should use the mapped domain, whereas the ssl areas should use the subdomain: def ensure_proper_protocol return true if ssl_allowed? if ssl_required? && !request.ssl? redirect_to "https://#{@account.subdomain}." + APP_CONF[:domain] + request.request_uri flash.keep return false elsif request.ssl? && !ssl_required? redirect_to "http://#{@account.sub_or_mapped_domain}" + request.request_uri flash.keep return false end end The application is broadly split into a website (front end) and an admin (back end). ALL of the admin area uses SSL so in the AdminController I have overwritten ssl_required? with: protected def ssl_required? return false if RAILS_ENV == "test" || RAILS_ENV == "development" true end Interestingly, Flash messages work fine in the development environment, where I am bypassing requiring SSL, but in my production environment where SSL is required, all Flash are gone. Any ideas? EDIT I've done some further testing and can add that this problem is ONLY occurring in Chrome on the Mac. Other Mac browsers and Chrome on windows are displaying the Flash messages as expected. This may be a bug with Chrome on the Mac then...?

• PHP delete script, return to 'viewsubjects.php?classroom_id=NO VALUE'

  Hi, As the title states... I am deleting a 'subject' from a 'classroom' I view classrooms, then can click on a classroom to view the subject for that classroom. So the link where I am viewing subjects looks like: viewsubjects.php?classroom=23 When the user selects the delete button (in a row) to remove a subject from a class, I simply want the user to be redirected back to the list of subjects for the classroom (exactly where they were before!!) So I though this is simply a case of calling up the classroom ID within my delete script. Here is what I have: EDIT: corrected spelling mistake in code (this was not the problem) $subject_id = $_GET['subject_id']; $classroom_id = $_GET['classroom_id']; $sql = "DELETE FROM subjects WHERE subject_id=".$subject_id; $result = mysql_query($sql, $connection) or die("MySQL Error: ".mysql_error()); header("Location: viewsubjects.php?classroom_id=".$classroom_id); exit(); The subject is being removed from the DB, but when I am redirected back the URI is displaying with an empty classroom ID like: viewsubjects.php?classroom_id= Is there a way to carry the classroom ID through successfully through the delete script so it can be displayed after, allowing the user to be redirected back to the page? • Handling exceptions in Prism 4 modules

  I've gone through a number of threads here about this topic with no success. It seems that in the App.xaml.cs of our WPF application, handling DispatcherUnhandledExceptions and AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException don't catch everything. In this specific instance we have 7 prism modules. My exception handling code is below (almost identical for UnhandledException): private void OnDispatcherUnhandledException(object sender, DispatcherUnhandledExceptionEventArgs e) { try { var ex = e.Exception.InnerException ?? e.Exception; var logManager = new LogManager(); logManager.Error(ex); if (!EventLog.SourceExists(ex.Source)) EventLog.CreateEventSource(ex.Source, "AppName"); EventLog.WriteEntry(ex.Source, ex.InnerException.ToString()); var emb = new ExceptionMessageBox(ex); emb.ShowDialog(); e.Handled = true; } catch (Exception) { } } The problem seems to be the unhandled exceptions occurring in the modules. They aren't caught by the code above and they cause the application to crash without logging or displaying any sort of message. Does anyone have experience with this?

• NSMagedObjectContext, threads and NSFechedResultsController

  Dear iphone developers, Core Data newbie speaking here. In my application I have two NSManagedObjectContext that refer to that same NSPersistentStorageController. One ManagedObjectContext (c1) is in the main thread --created when I create a NSFetchedResultsController -- and the second ManagedObjectContext (c2) created in a second thread, running in the background, detached from the main thread. In the background thread I pull some data off a website and insert the entities created for the pulled data in the thread's ManagedObjectContext (c2). In the meanwhile, the main thread sits doing nothing and displaying a UITableView whose data do be display should be provided by the NSFetchedResultsController. When the background thread has finished pulling the data and inserting entities in c2, c2 saves, and the background thread notifies the main thread that the processing has finished before it exiting. As a matter of fact, the entities that I have inserted in c2 are know by c1 because it can ask it about one particular entity with [c1 existingObjectWithID:ObjectID error:&error]; I would expect at this point, if I call on my tableview reloadData to see some rows showing up with the data I pulled from the web in the background thread thanks to the NSFetchedResults controller which should react to the modifications of its ManagedObjectContext (c1). But nothing is happening! Only if I restart the application I see what I have previously pulled from the web! Where am I doing things wrong? Thank you in advance!

• Display TableViews corresponding to segmentedControl in a single tableview without pushing a new view

  I have a tableViewController where I have used the Interface Builder to insert a Segmented Controller having two segments. Since by default, first segment is always selected, I am not facing any problem in displaying the tableview corresponding to first segment. However, when I click on the second segment, I want to display another tableView. Here goes the problem. I am calling newTableViewController class on clicking the second segment. Hence, this view is getting pushed instead. Please suggest me a method to have these two tableViews in the main tableView upon clicking the segments. I have used switch case for switching between the segments. • Guidance on E-commerce in a Python Framework

  I am looking for guidance in making decisions on using Python for E-commerce. My reasoning to use Python in the first place is i do a lot of 3D so it's a real help to use Python for web server side as well as 3D so I do not need to learn a new language. When I say E-commerce i mean the logic behind displaying products and a check out system that is Robust....and yes I really want to build this myself so I can change it. I do not want to use an out the box solution that costs a lot of money every month. I want control of server side, data bases, e-commerce etc. My questions are: What Frameworks are out there? I looked at previous questions on stackoverflow but only found old posts about Sachmo and Get paid. What is the learning path, I do not want to make a mistake that costs six months of studying? Python then Django? How long if I spent 10 hours a day studying this would it take to get up and running? I write javaScript badly, so I am not a complete noob, I understand the basics of programming languages. many thanks in advance

• Ordering by number of rows?

  Alright, so I have a table outputting data from a MySQL table in a while loop. Well one of the columns it outputs isn't stored statically in the table, instead it's the sum of how many times it appears in a different MySQL table. Sorry I'm not sure this is easy to understand. Here's my code: $query="SELECT * FROM list WHERE added='$addedby' ORDER BY time DESC"; $result=mysql_query($query); while($row=mysql_fetch_array($result, MYSQL_ASSOC)){ $loghwid = $row['hwid']; $sql="SELECT * FROM logs WHERE hwid='$loghwid' AND time < now() + interval 1 hour"; $query = mysql_query($sql) OR DIE(mysql_error()); $boots = mysql_num_rows($query); //Display the table } The above is the code displaying the table. As you can see it's grabbing data from two different MySQL tables. However I want to be able to ORDER BY $boots DESC. But as its a counting of a completely different table, I have no idea of how to go about doing that. I would appreciate any help, thank you.

• How to handle exceptions from an image-generating Servlet?

  I have a simple (Servlet, JSP, and JSTL) web app whose main functionality is displaying images retrieved from a back-end server. The controller servlet forwards the user to a JSP that in turn uses another Servlet to display the resulting image on that same JSP. Further down, the JSP has a line similar to: <a href="<c:out value='${imageURL}'/>"><img src="<c:out value='${imageURL}'/>" alt="image view" border="1"></a> which invokes a GET request on the image-generating servlet causing it to generate the image. My question is: how do I handle Exceptions thrown by this image-generating servlet? I already have an error page defined (in web.xml) to handle ServletException within my web app but this doesn't work for this image-generating Servlet, and results in the following errors showing up in my Tomcat server logs: SEVERE: Exception Processing ErrorPage[exceptionType=javax.servlet.ServletException, location=/WEB-INF/ExceptionPage.jsp] java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cannot reset buffer after response has been committed What's my recourse in this situation? • Display last image taken in Media.Images

  Hi I'm inserting an image from the camera (Taking a picture) into the MediaStore.Images.Media datastore. Does anyone know how I can go about displaying the last picture taken? I used Uri image = ContentUris.withAppendedId(externalContentUri, 45); to display an image from the datastore but obviously 45 is not the correct image. I try to pass the information from the previous activity (Camera) to the display activity but I'm assuming due to the photo call back being its own thread the value never gets set. • Corrupt output with an HttpModule

  I have an HttpModule that looks at the query string for a parameter called "cmd" and executes one of a small set of predefined commands that display server stats in XML. For example, http://server01?cmd=globalstats. Now, on rare occasions, like once out of hundreds of times, I will get corrupt output like this: <!-- the stats start displaying fine... --> <stats> <ServerName>SERVER01</ServerName> <StackName>Search</StackName> <TotalRequests>945</TotalRequests> <!-- ...until something has gone awry and now we're getting the markup of the home page! --> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> ...the rest of the home page markup... • SELECT Statement without duplicate rows on the multiple join tables

  I have 4 tables built with JOINS and I would like to SELECT DISTINCT rows on the setsTbl.s_id so they always show regardless if there's relational data against them or not!. This is what I have at present which displays the data but doesn't display all of but not the entire distinct row! • Objects leaking immediately from allocation using either new or [[Object alloc] init];

  While running Instruments to find leaks in my code, after I've loaded a file and populate an NSMutableArray with new objects, leaks pop up! I am correctly releasing the objects. Sample code below: //NSMutableArray declared as a retained property in the parent class if(!mutableArray) mutableArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithCapacity:objectCount]; else [mutableArray removeAllObjects]; //Iterates through the read in data and populate the NSMutableArray for(int i = 0; i < objectCount; i++){ //Initializes a new object with data MyObject *object = [MyObject new]; //Adds the object to the mutableArray [mutableArray addObject:object]; //Releases the object [object release]; } I get a number of leaks from Instruments terminating at the addition of the 'object' into the 'mutableArray', but also including the allocation of the 'object' and the 'mutableArray'. I don't get it. Not to mention, this is happening on the first call of the enclosing method so the allocation of the NSMutableArray is being hit in the logic block, not the 'removeAllObjects' selector. Lastly, does Core Foundation have a major bug in it that randomly creates CFStrings and mismanages their memory? My code does not even use those, nor do the leaks where they occur have anything to do with my code. Almost all of my applications so far deal with OpenGL (in case anyone knows of a threading issue that arises from trying to synch the backend of the program with the front end of displaying the contents of an NSOpenGLView class or whatever it is).
