  • phpMyAdmin "No database selected" MySQL

    - by user1751660
    I downloaded a MySQL backup file and promptly imported into MAMP's phpMyAdmin. I got this return: Error SQL query: -- -- Database: `mysql` -- -- -------------------------------------------------------- -- -- Table structure for table `columns_priv` -- CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `columns_priv` ( `Host` CHAR( 60 ) COLLATE utf8_bin NOT NULL DEFAULT '', `Db` CHAR( 64 ) COLLATE utf8_bin NOT NULL DEFAULT '', `User` CHAR( 16 ) COLLATE utf8_bin NOT NULL DEFAULT '', `Table_name` CHAR( 64 ) COLLATE utf8_bin NOT NULL DEFAULT '', `Column_name` CHAR( 64 ) COLLATE utf8_bin NOT NULL DEFAULT '', `Timestamp` TIMESTAMP NOT NULL DEFAULT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP ON UPDATE CURRENT_TIMESTAMP , `Column_priv` SET( 'Select', 'Insert', 'Update', 'References' ) CHARACTER SET utf8 NOT NULL DEFAULT '', PRIMARY KEY ( `Host` , `Db` , `User` , `Table_name` , `Column_name` ) ) ENGINE = MYISAM DEFAULT CHARSET = utf8 COLLATE = utf8_bin COMMENT = 'Column privileges'; MySQL said: #1046 - No database selected I did not alter the .sql file at all. Any hints on how i can get this puppy going locally? Thanks!

  • Am I underestimating MySQL ?

    - by user281434
Hi I'm about to implement a feature on my website that recommends content to users based on the content they already have in their library (a la Last.fm). A single table holds all the records of the content they have added, so a row might look something like: -------------------- | userid | content | -------------------- | 28 | a | -------------------- When I want to recommend some content for a user, I use a query to get all the user id's that have content a added in their library. Then, out of those user id's, I make another query that finds the next most common content among those users (fx. 'b'), and show that to the user. My problem is when I'm thinking about the big picture here. Say that eventually my site will hold something like 500.000 rows in the table, will this make the MySQL response very slow or am I underestimating MySQL here?

  • MySQL "IS IN" equivalent?

    - by nute
A while ago I worked on a MS-SQL project and I remember a "IS IN" thing. I tried it on a MySQL project and it did not work. Is there an equivalent? Workaround? Here is the full query I am trying to run: SELECT * FROM product_product, product_viewhistory, product_xref WHERE ( (product_viewhistory.productId = product_xref.product_id_1 AND product_xref.product_id_2 = product_product.id) OR (product_viewhistory.productId = product_xref.product_id_2 AND product_xref.product_id_1 = product_product.id) ) AND product_product.id IS IN (SELECT DISTINCT pvh.productId FROM product_viewhistory AS pvh WHERE pvh.cookieId = :cookieId ORDER BY pvh.viewTime DESC LIMIT 10) AND product_viewhistory.cookieId = :cookieId AND product_product.outofstock='N' ORDER BY product_xref.hits DESC LIMIT 10 It's pretty big ... but the part I am interested in is: AND product_product.id IS IN (SELECT DISTINCT pvh.productId FROM product_viewhistory AS pvh WHERE pvh.cookieId = :cookieId ORDER BY pvh.viewTime DESC LIMIT 10) Which basically says I want the products to be in the "top 10" of that sub-query. How would you achieve that with MySQL (while trying to be efficient)?

  • Replace data in MySQL table with data from another table

    - by Oli
I am trying to modify an existing MySQL database for use in a new application. I have a table of items (table_items), which has multiple fields, including "ItemID" and "ItemName". I have another table (table_list) which has "ItemName" in it, but no ItemID. I need to either update this table to contain ItemID instead of ItemName, or create a new table which imports ItemIDs from table_items as opposed to the ItemName when table_list.ItemName = table_items.ItemName. I have tried the following: UPDATE table_list A, table_items B SET A.ItemName = B.ItemID WHERE A.ItemName = B.ItemName The current table has over 500,000 rows and every time i try this in PHPMyAdmin i get the error "the MySQl server has gone away". Any help greatly appreciated.

  • MySQL returns fewer rows with GROUP BY statement

    - by bschaeffer
I've got a MySQL database that stores image information. Right now it only has three rows stored in the database, and each row is associated with something like, for instance, a unique blog post via a key column. As of right now, one "blog post key" has one image, and one has two images in the database. When I run this query, MySQL returns all three rows. SELECT `id`, `key`, `url` FROM (`images`) WHERE `key` = 'TpaS4G5h' OR `key` = '78855e44' However, when i add the GROUP BY statement I only get two rows... one for each key. SELECT `id`, `key`, `url` FROM (`images`) WHERE `key` = 'TpaS4G5h' OR `key` = '78855e44' GROUP BY `key` I'm sure there is a simple solution, but I don't know what it is... so any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • CakePHP Form Helper - Show error class, but not error message

    - by Jeremy Penrod
I'm attempting to customize the error output on the CakePHP 2.0 form helper. Currently, the form renders error messages below the input and applies an 'error' class to the input's label. I have found that I can either disable error reporting altogether for an input, or output the error class and message. I would like the error class to be applied to the label of the offending inputs WITHOUT any message below. How do you turn off the error message outputting for a form, BUT still apply error classes to offending labels?

  • Problem connecting to remote mysql database

    - by user361024
I am trying to connect to a mysql db on a shared server. I am using a java application to make the connection. Problem doesn't happen when I connect to localhost db. URL = "jdbc:mysql://SHARED HOST IP:3306/DBNAME"; USER = "dbUSER"; PASS = "dbPASS"; Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(URL, USER, PASS); java.sql.SQLException: Access denied for user 'DBUSER'@'mycomputersIP???' (using password: YES) It is strange that it says denied for dbuser@ mycomputersip instead of dbuser@sharedhostIP Is there a setting on my wireless router that is screwing things up?

  • accessing external mysql server through "ssh tunnel" - any drawbacks?

    - by Max
In an upcoming project I have a two server setup: one is the application server and another, already existing runs the mysql server with databases I need to access. I contacted the server admin of the mysql server and the only way I can access the remote mysql databases is via "SSH tunnel". I have never done this before and never heard of it so far, so my question, are there any drawbacks, e. g. performance wise? Isnt it rather slow compared to directly accessing the mysql server on its default port?

  • MySQL SELECT where if stores have X, show me everything that they have

    - by tnt0932
    I have a MYSQL table like this: STORES (SPID, StoreID, ProductID); And data like this: { 1 | s1 | p2 } { 2 | s1 | p7 } { 3 | s1 | p8 } { 4 | s2 | p1 } { 5 | s2 | p3 } { 6 | s2 | p6 } { 7 | s2 | p9 } { 8 | s3 | p2 } { 9 | s3 | p5 } And I would like to: Use a MYSQL SELECT query to get results, where if a store has a certain product, then a list of all of the products at that store will be returned. For example, if I were looking for "p2", then I would like to know that "s1" has "p2, p7, p8" and "s3" has "p2, p5". Please let me know if you require any more information. I'm not sure what is required to solve this issue (Which is probably why I can't search and find the answer!) Thank you.

  • Search for string within text column in MySQL

    - by user94154
I have mysql table that has a column that stores xml as a string. I need to find all tuples where the xml column contains a given string of 6 characters. Nothing else matters--all I need to know is if this 6 character string is there or not. So it probably doesn't matter that the text is formatted as xml. Question: how can I search within mysql? ie SELECT * FROM items WHERE items.xml [contains the text '123456'] Is there a way I can use the LIKE operator to do this? Thanks

  • password limitations in SQL Server and MySql

    - by asteroid
Does MySql 5.1 and SQL Server 2008 (Web edition, Standard) have any functional password limitations other than length limits? Are metacharacters in any form a bad idea to use, like bang, pipe, hash, any slash, carrot, and so on? I know that MySql 5.1 has a password length limitation of 16 characters that is hardcoded, but I was wondering, are any metacharacters (i.e. non alphanumerics) a bad idea to use? And is this true in SQL Server 2008 Web edition, Standard? So specifically: can symbols like: /`~:}{[]^ be used successfully? I would hope it doesn't matter to the database, but I don't understand enough about password storage in enterprise database systems yet to know for sure, and I was looking for confirmation or an explanation.

  • Help - since adding an elastic load balancer to my EC2 web application I cannot connect with the MySQL database (not in AWS)

    - by undefined
I have a web application that uses an EC2 instance to receive uploaded images, resize and store on S3 and update my MySQL database with the image record. This database is hosted outside Amazon Web Services and so obviously involves communication between the EC2 instance and the database. Images are posted to the upload server from a Flash client which receives the IP address of the upload server when it is loaded and so sends images to 1.12.23.34/resize_script.php This has worked great .. until i started to try and include a load balancer. Since the ELBs do not use an IP address but a DNS address I am now passing this to Flash. Now when I upload images I get the following response from the server - Could not connect to MySQL: Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 111 What might be causing the lost connection to MySQL server. Is there any additional steps I need to take to allow my upload servers to be load balanced? I have set the host property of my MySQL privileges for this user to % any pointers greatly appreciated thanks.

  • MySQL comparisons between multiple rows

    - by Hurpe
I have a MySQL table with the following columns: id(int), date (timestamp), starttime(varchar), endtime(varchar), ... I need to find time slots that are occupied by two or more rows. Here is an example table id| date |starttime|endtime | __|_____________________|_________|________| 1 | 2010-02-16 17:37:36 |14:35:00 |17:37:00| 2 | 2010-02-17 12:24:22 |12:13:00 |14:32:00| 3 | 2010-02-16 12:24:22 |15:00:00 |18:00:00| Rows 1 and 3 collide, and need to be corrected by the user. I need a query to identify such colliding rows - something that would give me the ID of all rows in the collision. When inserting data in the database I find collisions with this query: SELECT ID FROM LEDGER WHERE DATE(DATE) = DATE('$timestamp') AND ( STR_TO_DATE('$starttime','%H:%i:%s') BETWEEN STR_TO_DATE(STARTTIME,'%H:%i:%s') AND STR_TO_DATE(ENDTIME,'%H:%i:%s') OR STR_TO_DATE('$endtime','%H:%i:%s') BETWEEN STR_TO_DATE(STARTTIME,'%H:%i:%s') AND STR_TO_DATE(ENDTIME,'%H:%i:%s') ) AND FNAME = '$fname'"; Is there any way to accomplish this strictly using MySQL or do I have to use PHP to find the collisions?

  • Automatic Backup and Restore MySQL db from Web Server to Local Machine

    - by Rhepungus
I have a web app that is supposed to be run on a single local machine (kiosk display), but I want the option to let a user make changes on the web (from any PC) and update the instance on their local PC (kiosk display). From what i imagine, the MySQL instance on the web will just be replace the MySQL instance on the local (kiosk display) machine. Does anyone know of a way to do this? I am open to a product or coding it myself... I will appreciate any info or brainstorm. Thanks.
