• How do I use Nokogiri XML Builder with a field that is the word "text"?

  I think "text" must be a special form because when I use xml.text "hello" the tag doesn't appear in the xml doc. Whatever follows that tag is simply listed without a . I tried to use send.(:"text", "hello") but that doesn't work either. Ideas?

• Silverlight toolkit chart to many lables on axis

  I'm using the newest chart control from silverlight toolkit to plot some data. For small cases it works ok, but for bigger samples the X axis labels overlap. It would be no problem if the chart would simply omit some of the values or I could specify to just show every 10th of them ... I couldn't find any properties providing this behavior. Any ideas?

• Why is it safe to use copy & paste in Flash but not in Javascript?

  I'm trying to use copy'n paste in one of my web apps and have read a few articles/SO questions about it. Most people say that using Flash is the only option since most browsers don't allow access to the system clipboard because of security concerns. I can understand this but I wonder why it is okay for Flash do this, but not for the browser. Or has it got nothing to do with security and it is simply to complicated to implement this for cross-platform browser vendors?

• R segfault when running via Rpy on linux

  I'm running R via Rpy on a redhat linux distribution. Periodically I'll encounter this error message: *** caught segfault *** address (nil), cause 'unknown' And the entire program dies right there. It usually occurs when I run a lot of regression r.lm(). But by simply running the identical code again, the problem may or may not go away (so not always reproduceable). Does anyone know what might be causing this, and/or how I can prevent it from happening?

  I'm struggling to get a handle on Meteor deps, in order to be specific my use case is: 2) When collection is changed, I want to run a jQuery function on the client side I think deps are what I'm looking for, but at the moment I have only just used: Template.templateName.set () -> return Set.find({}) ...in terms of reactivity. A solution which simply console.log's the collection each time it is changed would be more that enough.

  I'm trying to create an offline HTML5 test application, and am playing with the new google fonts api at the same time. Does anyone have any ideas how to cache the remote fonts? Simply putting the api call in the cache manifest doesn't work, I assume this is because the api actually loads other files (ttf, eot, etc). Any ideas if using the font api offline would be possible?   I need to limit number of entities returned by a query to some certain value inside a JPA query (through JPQL). Particularly: select m from Manual m //constraint e.g. in sql (mysql syntax) I would do it like: select * from Manual limit 1 The only solution that comes up is simply to get all entities and then choose first one, which is out of the issue. Any ideas?

  To remove a normal marker from a map, I understand you simply call marker.setMap(null), but when implementing the Google Maps directions services, it automatically adds markers A and B onto the map ( calculating directions from point A to point B ). I do not have control over these markers, so I cannot remove them in the normal way. So how can I remove these markers (I have custom markers on the map instead)?
