  Where can I find an easy to use and up to date C++ parser/library for the .tmx map format (used by the Tiled Map Editor) ? EDIT: David's comment, 'Unless you want to build your game around the format of the parser..', got me thinking... So I have downloaded pugixml, which is an easy to use xml-parser with very straightforward documentation. Together with the spec for the TMX Map Format, I think I'll give it a try myself. I'll probably compare with Cocos2d-x's CCTMXTiledMap at some point.

• Customising Google Maps breaks highway label blocks

  I'm trying to customise a Google map to use shades of a particular colour. It's working nicely except the blocks that contain major road names / numbers is illegible. I've figured out how to target styles to those elements, but setting the 'color' value sets both text and background to that colour.   Thank you to everyone who came out to the Chicago Architects Group presentation last night.  It seemed like the weather has a way of keeping a large portion of the people who registered from making the meeting.  There was some lively networking going on before and after the meeting.  I enjoyed the questions that people had during the presentation.  It helped to bring out some of the challenges with dealing with the OOXML and ODF standards from an architecture perspective. • How can I enable auto-switching HDMI sound on Ubuntu 12.04?

  I've just installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my Lenovo G550 notebook and decided to test the main thing I use it for, on Windows: watching movies and series on my living room TV. Plugged in the HDMI cable, screen auto-configured nicely - awesome. But the sound is coming through my notebook's speakers, instead of my TV. Searched for almost an hour on Google, found a couple of things - nothing that helped, though. I am trying scale the game to any user selected resolution without changing the way I am rendering, or game logic. What is the best way to scale a game to any arbitrary resolution? Edit: I am trying to achieve this: http://www.david-amador.com/2010/03/xna-2d-independent-resolution-rendering/ but I think the code he has is for a different version of XNA because I cannot find that method overload he uses.

I've seen many systems that shrink the log because it has grown only for it to grow the next day to the same size becuase of an overnight operation. To reduce the growth of the transaction log you need to do one or more of the following, 1.Back it up more frequently2.Change to simple recovery model3.Use minimally logged operations4.Keep transactions short and small5.Break large transactions into smaller transactions6.If using replication ensure that your backup of the replication topology is frequent enough
