• FOR command cannot see hidden files

  I’m struggling with one of the most frustrating bugs I’ve ever come across. Bug description:   The for command of the command-interpreter cannot see hidden files. Reproduction steps: Create a temporary directory Create a few files Assign a variety of attributes to the files (including hidden) Use a command like for %i in (*) do echo "%i" Expected results:    All files are processed in the for loop either by default or though a switch. Actual results: Files with any attribute other than hidden are processed; files flagged as hidden are skipped There is no switch to the for command to allow it to process hidden files Implications:    There is no way to process all files from the command-prompt. Question:    How the heck can hidden files be processed from the command-prompt or batch-files (at least in Windows if not DOS)?

  I have a template for org-capture more that looks like: ("w" "Websites" table-line (file+olp "~/Dropbox/mystuff.org" "Websites" "To view") "| %c | %^{Description}") which adds a table line to a table of web pages I want to view when I do org-capture and press 'w'. This works just fine. The I wanted to refile the To View table line to a table with the headline "Viewed" using this (setq org-refile-targets '(("mystuff.org" :regexp . "Viewed") But what org mode does is takes the whole table rather than the url on the row I want to refile, and puts the To View table under the Viewed table. Obviously not what I want. Is there a way to do what I want?

• Cisco ASA - Enable communication between same security level

I am trying to configure it to allow communication between two interfaces configured with the same security level (DMZ-DMZ) "same-security-traffic permit inter-interface" has been set, but hosts are unable to communicate between the interfaces. I am assuming that some NAT settings are causing my issue.   Currently I am using : OSX 10.7.5 VMWare:5.0.1 with windows 7 professional Problem: Getting disconnected from LAN game. Description: 4 of us are trying to play frozen throne on the same network. The thing is, they are all running windows computers, and I am running W7 on VMware. I haven't made any adjustments other than changing from "sharing internet with my mac" to Bridged network "autodetect". When we start to play, everything works then all of a sudden I get disconnected. This happens every once in a while, the timing differs from time to time. None of the others ever disconnects. What could be the problem? Thanks for the help!

  I'm trying to mount my vbox shared folder every time my ubuntu starts. So, I added an entry on /etc/init with this: description "mount vboxsf Desktop" start on startup task exec mount -t vboxsf Desktop /var/www/shared Seems to work, except by the fact that all the files are owned by "root", and I don't have permission to write on the folder (neither chmod nor chown seems to be working). So, how can I make all the files under this shared folder to be owned by www-data user/group? Thanks ps.: The main reason for me to have an automatic shared folder, is so I can create/edit files from the HOST on the GUEST www folder. If you have a better idea for that, instead of sharing the folder, fell free to say.

• Ubuntu, No wireless networks found after correctly installed madwifi

  Hi, I just installed madwifi on my MSI laptop with an Atheros AR5001 wifi card & Lucid. As far as I can see and according to System - Administration - Hardware drivers the install was successful and the card + driver is up and running. However, I don't see any wireless network (my windows PC can see about 5 wireless networks). I tried it with the network manager applet as well as with wicd. If I try to connect to "Hidden Wireless Network" via nm-applet, it will start to connect for a while but is unable too (although I supply it with the correct WEP settings & key) So, I'm unable to use my wireless network. What am i doing wrong? • Software to store my password on a crypted file and access it through another password

  I'm looking for a software that allows me to store some passwords in something like "a text file", access it through a password, read my passwords if required and close it again. I want something really straightforward, double click on file, right click "Add new password", add password, description and close. The file must be really secure, I'll store all my passwords there. I know about some command line solutions but I want my setup to be really fast on reading. Do someone know if such a software exist and can point me in the correct direction? I would like to find it freeware, but I'm ok with some low cost tools too.

If you have multiple SMTP Virtual Servers configured on your Exchange server, make sure they are defined by a unique incoming port and that the outgoing SMTP port configuration is valid to avoid looping between local virtual servers. • VPN Connection causes DNS to use wrong DNS server

  I have a Windows 7 PC on our company network (which is a member of our Active Directory). Everything works fine until I open a VPN connection to a customer's site. When I do connect, I lose network access to shares on the network, including directories such as 'Application Data' that we have a folder redirection policy for. As you can imagine, this makes working on the PC very difficult, as desktop shortcuts stop working, software stops working properly due to having 'Application Data' pulled from under it. Our network is routed (10.58.5.0/24), with other local subnets existing within the scope of 10.58.0.0/16. The remote network is on 192.168.0.0/24. I've tracked the issue down to being DNS related. As soon as I open the VPN tunnel, all my DNS traffic goes via the remote network, which explains the loss of local resources, but my question is, how can I force local DNS queries to go to our local DNS servers rather than our customers? (i.e. I can ping any node on our network or the remote network). I've modified the PPTP connection properties to use the DNS servers 10.58.3.32 followed by 192.168.0.16, yet the query still goes to 192.168.0.16. Edit: The local resources that disappear are hosted on domain DFS roots, which might (or might not) be relevant.

• SQL Server 2005 Agent running SSIS job can't find file path

  Basically I'm trying to run a functioning SSIS job (created in BIDS) under the SQL Server Agent - it reads a set of Excel spreadsheets and dumps the results into a table. The problem I'm having is getting the SSA to read the file path, the relevant part of the error is: "0x80004005 Description: "'N:\Assets Property & Facilities Management\Monthly Absence.xls' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides." I've tried using UNC paths (\servername\ share) but the BIDS rewrites the paths to standard file paths (c:\directory\filename), I've also tried a proxy which runs this step under an Admin account. I've also tried changing the path to UNC on the SSIS job on the server. Also I'm forcing it to use the 32 bit DTEXEC, so it's not that either Always get the same error, do I need to re-create the job from scratch?

• Can't perform ODBC connection to MySQL server on local network

  I have a wamp server running on LAN ip address 192.168.1.101 . From the browser on my PC which is on the LAN I can access the webserver and have as well set the phpmyadmin.conf file to be able to access the phpmyadmin interface. This works smoothly. On the wamp server I have a database which I'd need to access from any PC on the LAN using the MySQL Connector/ODBC. The problem is that I do not manage to setup the connection correctly. • How can I set a Windows user environment variable that takes effect for the current session?

  I am trying to set a Windows user environment variable and then launch an application via either batch file or a script. However, the environment variable is not set to the appropriate value until after the user logs off and logs back on. (I think a more accurate description would be that the new value is not available to the app until after the next logon.) Is there any way to set a variable in the user's environment so that it's immediately available? I'm doing this because this program's functionality can be controlled by environment variables, and users will need different functionality at different times. • Laptop battery: is voltage really important to respect?

  I got an Acer Aspire 5100 and I just bought a new battery (after the stock battery just died yesterday). But I saw something after buying and I'm wondering whether it's really important or not. My stock battery was a 6-cell 4000mah 11.1v and the new battery is an 8-cell 4800mah 14.8v . I know that 8-cell and 4800mah is okay, but what about the 14.8v instead of 11.1v? The battery description says it's compatible with my laptop model (AS5100, model BL51), but the voltage difference makes me wonder. Will the laptop only take what it needs? Or will it be getting 14.8v straight in the brain? I know that my wall plug claims to output 19v, so logically I'm thinking a higher voltage battery shouldn't be a problem. Am I correct in thinking this? Thanks in advance for your answers!
