    I'd like a free library for .NET to get attachments from an account (such as gMail, or others) via imap4 (not necessarely), and save them in a folder. Ideally it would allow me to get a list of them, and download only some given ones (filtering by extension, name, and/or size) and be free.   • VS2010's "Public Property <PropertyName> As <DataType> vs. Public var

    In VS2008, I used to type Public Property <PropName> As <dataType> and hit the Enter key and the IDE editor would automatically expand it out to a full blown property block. Now, from what I understand, a new feature of 2010 is that the compiler automatically "expands" the short syntax above into the same IL code that you would get with the full property GET AND SET sub methods that were are accustomed to seeing before in the editor. But functionality, how the heck is this any different than just having a Public class level variable? If the only diff is what it compiles to and if otehrwise there is no functional difference, isn't the new way less efficient than the old since it involves more code than just having a class level memory variable? Public as I thought that if you weren't going to have code behind your properties that they were essentially the same. I guess the diffrenece is that they just added the keyword "Property" but functionality, their is no diff, eh?

I need to find CountryID in the datatable based on the user input country name. I could just open a connection with DB and run the query select countryID from Country where countryName = @userinput.     Sorry for the newbie question, but I have the following query that groups parking spaces by their garage, but I can't figure out how to iterate the data in the view. I guess I should strongly type the view but am a newbie and having lots of problems figuring this out. Any help would be appreciated.     I have a page with a form on it and needs a range of dates. Thus I've placed a number of textboxes on the page into which users can type dates. When the user clicks the save button I want to trigger a LINQ update to the SQL Server...all the rows already exist, so I'm just updating existing data. How can I do this?     I have a pdf file being generated on the fly which I want to display inline on pageload, as below Response.Clear() Response.AppendHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline; filename=_Bulk_Print.pdf") Response.ContentType = "application/pdf" Response.BinaryWrite(docData) Response.End() If I put this in a click event it works perfectly but when on page load I Just get a blank aspx page despite the fact it's stepping through that code and the generation of the DocData no problem. Does anyone know the reason for this or a workaround, thanks for your help.

    Stackoverflowers, I have a resultset from a SQL query in the form of: Category Column2 Column3 A 2 3.50 A 3 2 B 3 2 B 1 5 ... I need to group the resultset based on the Category column and sum the values for Column2 and Column3. I have to do it in code because I cannot perform the grouping in the SQL query that gets the data due to the complexity of the query (long story). This grouped data will then be displayed in a table. I have it working for specific set of values in the Category column, but I would like a solution that would handle any possible values that appear in the Category column. I know there has to be a straightforward, efficient way to do it but I cannot wrap my head around it right now. How would you accomplish it?

    Hello I've been trying several things from Google to POST data to a web server, but none of them work: I'm still stuck at how to convert the variables into the request, considering that the second variable is an SQL query so it has spaces. Does someone know the correct way to use a WebClient to POST data? I'd rather use WebClient because it requires less code than HttpWebRequest/HttpWebResponse.   • Overwrite values when using gridview Edit?

    I am using a GridView which is bound to a LinqDataSource and using the automatic edit and delete buttons. However, I don't want the user to edit two of the columns manually, but done automatically. Specifically username who last updated the entry, and the date it was updated. The gridview only contains 3 columns: Name, Date modified, last updated by. Right now when the user clicks the edit button they can only edit the name column (other two set to read-only). Upon clicking the update button, I want the other 2 fields to update as well based on some extra code. I thought this was done in the code behind within the event rowUpdating, but it doesn't seem to work.     Hi All, I need to build a quicken like application, where data needs to be secure. I don't see any database being used by Quicken. I could use XML, MDF or Access database, but data is not secure in the tables. What is the best option? How does Quicken handle it? My application may also have document attachments as well. The functionality of this application is similar to quicken but not an accounting/financial in functionality. Thanks a bunch!
