  • EASY: How does one release memory correctly in the attached C array?

    Hi, I'm just trying to work out why the following code is leaking memory and I have a funny feeling that i'm not releasing the array memory correctly. This is a C function in a wider objective-c app and I'm not native to C... i've tried just using free() on the array, but have a feeling this isn't the whole story... Could someone have a look and see what I'm missing here. Thanks!   • How does Eclipse/IDEA/etc. debugger obtain the information about local variable values and watch exp

    I always thought that varibales are mapped to stack locations once your Java source is compiled; additionally, they may include the info about the variable names and their scope in classfiles, but that's optional AFAIK. The question is - how do my Eclipse/IDEA IDEs allow me to set a watch expression containing the local variable name? To me, it's hard to understand :)

  • Expanding Git SHA1 information into a checkin without archiving?

    Is there a way to include git commit hashes inside a file everytime I commit? I can only find out how to do this during archiving but I haven't been able to find out how to do this for every commit. I'm doing scientific programming with git as revision control, so this kind of functionality would be very helpful for reproducibility reasons (i.e., have the git hash automatically included in all result files and figures).

  • iphone sdk: autorotate jumps back up the page, showing information that has already been read...

    Hi, I am using - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation{ return YES; } to allow rotation, which works fine - except that the landscape view jumps backwards up the page that is being displayed. I can't figure out what I should be looking at to fix it. I just want the page to rotate where it is. Any pointers would be great. Am a noob, as is probably clear. Thanks Jonathan

  • How can I implement a jquery ajax form which requests information from a web api via a php request?

    I'm trying to implement a simple api request to the SEOmoz linkscape api. It works if I only use the php file but I want to do an ajax request using jquery to make it faster and more user friendly. Here is the javascript code I'm trying to use: $(document).ready(function(){ $('#submit').click(function() { var url=$('#url').val(); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "api_sample.php", data: url, cache: false, success: function(html){ $("#results").append(html); } }); }); }); And here is the part of the php file where it takes the value: $objectURL = $_POST['url']; I've been working on it all day and can't seem to find the answer... I know the php code works as it returns a valid json object and displays correctly when I do it that way. I just can't get the ajax to show anything at all!!

  • Pass information to php file from javascript while restricting user from doing it their self?

    I am making a game where the battle system uses javascript to battle. At the end of the battle you either win or lose. If the user wins, I need to update the mysql database with the XP they earned. The best way I can think of doing this is to have the javascript run an ajax function when the user wins that POSTs something like addxp.php?amount=235, but if I do that then the user can easilly look at the source and see that they can just enter in that page themself to update their xp without battling. But this is the only way I know how to do it? Help please :-/

Lippman, I want a similar book for .NET and C#. Could someone provide some hints about books and articles?     I am trying to create a preview window for my texteditor in my blog page. I need to send the content to the server to clean up the text entered before I can preview it on the preview window. I was trying to use $.ajax({ type: method, url: url, data: values, success: LoadPageCallback(targetID), error: function(msg) { $('#' + targetID).attr('innerHTML', 'An error has occurred. Please try again.'); } }); Whenever I tried to click on the preview button it returns an XMLHTTPRequest error. The error description - Description: Request Validation has detected a potentially dangerous client input value, and processing of the request has been aborted. This value may indicate an attempt to compromise the security of your application, such as a cross-site scripting attack. You can disable request validation by setting validateRequest=false in the Page directive or in the configuration section. However, it is strongly recommended that your application explicitly check all inputs in this case. The ValidateRequest for the page is set to false. Is there a way I can set validaterequest to false for the ajax call.Please advise Thank you for reading my post.

  • Display constantly updating information in-place in command-line window using python?

    I am essentially building a timer. I have a python script that monitors for an event and then prints out the seconds that have elapsed since that event. Instead of an ugly stream of numbers printed to the command line, I would like to display only the current elapsed time "in-place"-- so that only one number is visible at any given time. Is there a simple way to do this? If possible I'd like to use built-in python modules. I'm on Windows, so simpler the better. (E.g. no X11).

  • Is this a safe way to release resources in Java?

    Usually when code needs some resource that needs to be released I see it done like this: InputStream in = null; try{ in = new FileInputStream("myfile.txt"); doSomethingWithStream(in); }finally{ if(in != null){ in.close(); } } What I don't like is that you have to initialize the variable to null and after that set it to another value and in the finally block check if the resource was initialized by checking if it is null. If it is not null, it needs to be released. I know I'm nitpicking, but I feel like this could be done cleaner. What I would like to do is this: InputStream in = new FileInputStream("myfile.txt"); try{ doSomethingWithStream(in); }finally{ in.close(); } To my eyes this looks almost as safe as the previous one. If resource initialization fails and it throws an exception, there's nothing to be done(since I didn't get the resource) so it doesn't have to be inside the try block. The only thing I'm worried is if there is some way(I'm not Java certified) that an exception or error can be thrown between operations? Even simpler example: Inputstream in = new FileInputStream("myfile.txt"); in.close(); Is there any way the stream would be left open that a try-finally block would prevent?

    Hello, everybody! I have a file in which a matrix is stored. This file has a RandomAccessFile type. This matrix is stored by columns. I mean that in an i-th row of this matrix an i-th column (of a real matrix) is stored. There is an example: i-th row: 1 2 3 4 (in the file). That means that the real matrix has an i-th column: (1 2 3 4)(transpose). I need to save this matrix in natural way (by rows) in a new file, which I will then open with FileReader and display with TestArea. DO you know, how to do that? If so, please help =)

    I have created an error handler as described here: http://emberjs.com/guides/understanding-ember/debugging/#toc_implement-a-code-ember-onerror-code-hook-to-log-all-errors-in-production But this code is not only executed in production mode but also in normal debug builds which floods my server logs. I know that Ember.debug() calls and alike are being filtered out for production builds, but I couldn't find out where/how that is implemented and if that same mechanism could be used to make my code only fire in production code.
