  I'm mainly using c++ win32 API project and the question is asked keeping in mind: When you use microsoft visual studio 2010 visual c++ editor and you minimize any function, then ahead of the function you get a box; hovering over which you see the entire function. How to implement this in c++ win32 API ? for ex- when a win32 project is created in vs2010, and empty project checkbox is unchecked then by default you get a code which after running produces a window which has a menu bar containing File an Help. Now i want some text to come when i hover over each of them. I do not want a code just a hint how it can be done. Thanks in advance.

• Timeout not working in SQL Connection

I search here (Stackoverflow) and internet and found nothing in how to fix this. Any one else have this problem? Or, are there any other ideas on how to let the application know that the DB is ready?

  I am trying to test if the uploaded file is the image type I want. If it isn't a gif,jpeg, png, it should echo "Problem". But when I execute this code, it always says there's a problem.   Hi all, In Ubuntu, I am running 2 'C' applications, When I press key up/down the applications are alternatively getting the events. What might be the problem/solution? Ex: I have 'A application' and 'B application', I launch 'A application' and press the key up/down its working fine. If I simultaneously launch 'B application' and focus is on 'B application' then pressing key up/down will toggle between 'A application' & 'B application' so 2 times I have to press the key to move on 'B application'(focus is on 'B application'). The results of the execution is correct but the debugging experience is misleading. Is this a known issue? Is the behavior in VS 2010 the same?

  How is it possible to auto start my application or run a process when the user turns on the phone. If you look at ex. Outloock WP7 included in the operating system then updates the icon so that you can see that there are new mail. This is a process in the background running. But I've read a bit about this now, but can not find out that this is possible using the SDK from Microsoft? Is it not possible?? If possible, how does one do that? Notice: I do not want any solution that involves jailbreak.

• I am looking for a svn helper program

  I didn't remember the name of this program. But i can remember how it works. Program is working on tray. When we double click on it it is showing its main window. :) I could add some criterias to make automatic commit(and maybe update). For ex: if a file changes or if files to be deleted, you can commit. The best part of this program is: "it is FREE" I don't remember exactly but i think it has M name in its name (but i don't remember). I think this program written by an Italian man. And its web site was very simple (and i think its fonts were green)

  I would like to write a simple program in c++. After the program is done i would like to get my answers in form of a graph or picture that would give some certain information if i click on a certain area. i have only written console apllications in c++ before and don't really have a clue where to start with the graphic part of it all. Can I write the first part of the program in console mode and some how run it under the WIN32 later? for ex what will happen to the cout<<"foo"; commands? Is there a simpler approach to do some very basic graphic programming.

• Export from a standalone database to an embedded database.

  I have a two-part application, where there is a central database that is edited, and then at certain times, the data is released and distributed as its own application. I would like to use a standalone database for the central database (MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.) and then have a reliable export to an embedded database (probably SQLite) for distribution. What tools/processes are available for such an export, or is it a practice to be avoided? EDIT: A couple of additional pieces of information. The distributed application should be able to run without having to connect to another server (ex: your spellchecker still works even you don't have internet), and I don't want to install a full DB server for read-only access to the data.

• Include a repetitive chunk of html with PHP?

  I basically have a div on my Web Site that always has the same stuff. However, this div is not present on all pages which is why I won't use the dynamic web template. I was wondering if it was possible for PHP to get the code from a document on the server and put in into the div? Ex: div id="section... then my text file contains (p) hello (p) basically I want PHP to put it into the div when the user sees it. If theres a smarter way of acheiving this I'd be open to it aswell.   2 questions actually : 1) shortcut to toggle comment on selected lines ? Available on all iDEs I used starting with notepad++ 2)the ctrl-k, ctrl-c exhibits this behavior (quoted from someplace nicely worded): C#: Each line where some text is selected is commented at the line-start with double-slash. If nothing is selected, the line where the cursor is is commented. C++: If nothing is selected or complete lines are selected, it behaves as above. However, if parts of a line are selected, and no comment is selected as part of the selection (ex. select something in the middle of a code line), then the selection is surrounded by /* and */. since I code in C++ I find this behavior annoying - I want to be able to comment out lines partially selected - any workarounds ?

  I have an array of addresses that point to integers ( these integers are sorted in ascending order). They have duplicate values. Ex: 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4...... I am trying to get hold of all the values that are greater than a certain value(key). Currently trying to implement it using binary search algo - void *bsearch( const void *key, const void *base, size_t num, size_t width, int ( __cdecl *compare ) ( const void *, const void *) ); I am not able to achieve this completely, but for some of them. Would there be any other way to get hold of all the values of the array, with out changing the algorithm I am using?

  I have a table, MapLocation, which has a column and two relationships with tables that have a field that really need to be displayed as a single concatenated value. I was thinking this was a perfect case for a computed column, but not sure how to go about it. I haven't done much with computed columns or concatenating in SQL. Edit: I need an actual computed column that is automatically updated, im looking for the formula. Or is this more of a function/trigger? Its possible, I certainly barely know what I'm doing. The idea is that I dont want to have to do two more server calls and concatenate these values client side.

• I set a global bug catcher in my application for unhandled exceptions and it is picking up all exceptions

In my vb.net application I set a global handler in the ApplicationEvents.vb which I thought would only pick up any unhandled exceptions, although it is picking up every exception that happens in my application whether or not they are handled with try catch blocks.   I want to be able to search within the commit logs of svn. I know you can do that on tortoise, but couldn't find a way using the command line. We are moving to a two-tiered repository approach, so that the stable branch will only get stories fully completed and tested. To achieve that, we would need a way to search within the commit messages for the story code (eg:#s1322) and get a list of the revisions to be used in a subsequent merge command. [b,a,c] in list A and [b,d,c,e] in list B how can i get prolog to give me C,which is a list of elements that A has which are not included in list B Ex. So if i type difference([b,a,c],[b,d,c,e],C). I want the answer to read: C=[a] If i have two lists where list A is made up off [a,b,c] and list B is [c,a,b] i want the result to be Yes if i type: same([a,b,c],[c,a,b]). since they contain the same elements the fact that they are in a different order does not matter. Also it should only answer yes if all of the elements are the same not if 3/4 are right.

• Rendering sub tools on vertical toolbar

  I was wondering how ex Photoshop and Expression Design render sub tools. These show up when for example you hold your mouse down on the fill tool, a sub menu comes up to your right with the fill and gradient tools. I'm just not sure how to go about this because this sub menu would essentially have to be an extension of my toolbar, but then it would find itself on my Frame control. How is this handled? Would it be a good idea to just paint on my frame?

• Does 'throw' or 'try...catch' hinder performance?

  I've been reading all over the place (including here) about when exception should / shouldn't be used. I now want to change my code that would throw to make the method return false and handle it like that, but my question is: Is it the throwing or try..catch-ing that can hinder performance...? What I mean is, would this be acceptable: bool method someMmethod() { try { // ...Do something catch (Exception ex) // Don't care too much what at the moment... { // Output error // Return false } return true // No errors Or would there be a better way to do it? (I'm bloody sick of seeing "Unhandled exception..." LOL!)
