  • Using `g_object_set_data` for passing user name.

    I am using g_object_set_data to set user name with event_box so in call back i can get it with in event_box pointer. g_object_set_data(G_OBJECT(event_box), "user_name", (gpointer)(user_name) ); but problem is that i am setting user_name which is not an pointer allocated string. It is an local string (not allocated on hip) which gets destroyed. So is it necessary to allocated and then use the pointer, i just want to associate one name with this event_box.

  • Control Panel display as a menu does not work upon initial install of a Windows 2008 R2 server

    I've seen this a couple of times now.  Upon initial installation of a Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, the control panel is a button.  But if you go to the task bar property >> Start Menu tab >> Customize, you will see the option is "Display as a menu".  Click "Display as a link" and press OK, then come back to the same area and select "Display as a menu" will solve the problem.

  • Enable compiz on intel core i5 (Nvidia GT330M) based laptop

    Hi, I am trying to enable compiz on my laptop via Desktop Effects but it does not allow it. I modified the xorg.conf file as on the compiz wiki but still no luck. So can someone just tell me how to enable compiz desktop on an Intel i5 based system. This is an Arrandale processor so its got the graphics bit on the processor itself. My system also has a discrete graphics card (Nvidia GT330M - yup its those hybrid graphics combos n- not Optimus). As far as i know the nvidia gpu is not being used since the intel one is enabled and there is no bios route to disable it. The laptop is a Dell Vostro 3700 with bios version A10 I did lotsa google searches about intel compiz, etc but not a single conclusive guide as to how to enable it. so my guess is it should work out of the box. but it doesn't. glxinfo gives me: name of display: :0.0 Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".   • How to install OpenCV without nVidia drivers

    I have a laptop with on-board Intel graphics. I have been using OpenCV for years with this machine and I have managed to avoid manual compilation so far. But in Ubuntu 13.10, when I try to install libopencv-dev from the repositories, it brings along libopencv-ocl, which seems to be dependent on nvidia drivers. Letting the driver install messes up my xserver completely and when I do glxinfo afterwards, I get this: name of display: :0.0 Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". To solve this, I purge all nVidia drivers and reinstall xserver, much like it has been suggested here, and when I purge the nvidia drivers, OpenCV development libraries are also removed, as apt-get tells me they are no longer needed. This is foreign to me, because I expected a warning that I have installed packages that depend on this, but how can removing a dependency automatically remove the package I installed without warnings or asking? I understand it has something to do with nVidia being the provider of the libopencv-ocl in the repo. How could I get around it? I would rather not compile OpenCV if I can help it. I have seen similar questions, but not a suitable answer.

    My company is about to get a new physical connection to the Internet, replacing the old provider. They, of course, are giving us the allotted IPs, Gateway, and DNS servers. My domain name is registered with a provider like Bluehost, GoDaddy, etc. When this new connection goes in, what do I change in the domain name providers DNS? I know to change what Host point to. That is my new IP address. But what about the name servers? I am confused because the company gave me IP addresses for the name servers, but at the provider is has a DNS server name like ns1.somedomain.com. Also, How do I update the Internet's DNS servers?   • Switching to workspaces view shows buggy blue background

    When switching to workspaces view everything the background turns blue. Same happens when I switch between multiple windows of the same app too. Happening after having a try with gnome shell out of curiosity. Installed through official repos like normal. Tried it out but switched back, anyone have an idea of why this is happening? Got an Intel GPU and Unity 3d. If anyone can give me some direction, thanks a lot. Apparently it's not that hard to accidentally install an nvidia driver. All I had to do was remove all the stuff that had nvidia in it and I got 3d back!     Hi, unfortunately im REALLY stuck on this and was wondering in anyone knows how to work around this. I have some html text which i want displayed in a WPF RichTextBox. At the moment, i'm using some helper APIs found http://blogs.msdn.com/wpfsdk/archive/2006/05/25/606317.aspx to convert HTML to XAML. So at the moment i have a xaml data string, but i cant see to find a way to display this correctly within the richtextbox :s i have been trying the following: string xamlData = HTMLConverter.HtmlToXamlConverter.ConvertHtmlToXaml(sBody,true); FlowDocument result = XamlReader.Load(new System.Xml.XmlTextReader(new StringReader(xamlData))) as FlowDocument; but this is crashing on the XamlReader.. Any other way will do, i just need to display an HTML string in this RichTextBox or something else! Please Help!

    I have a UIView with a date picker that I'd like to display in an action sheet. If I comment the two middle lines of code and uncomment the top part to display a regular action sheet, it works fine. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

  • Ruby/Rails display general screen when modifications being performed on server

    I have a ruby on rails app running a server and sometimes it needs to be taken down for updates/etc. As of now, one way I see to have a general display screen during update periods (when the app is down) is to substitute the files within /srv/www/ directory to just have it display a general screen everywhere that the user could possibly navigate to. I also thought of having a central controller file that connects all others (essentially a main) but this seems counter intuitive for rails. There are many external links to these different components of the site that the user could navigate to from outside and I need to make sure that they always receive this general update screen when the app is taken down for a little. I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas.... maybe a library or something like that, I can't seem to find anything online. any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

    Hello, I'm trying to find a way to search for a business, such as "grocery stores" and display them on a google map around the users current location. This used to be pretty simple with the old URL style of launching the apple map location but I can't find out how to do it with the MKMapView. I understand that I'll need to use the MKAnnotations classes but my problem is with finding the data. I've tried plugging in the URL below to get the info from google but the size of the data seems way too large. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=grocery&mrt=yp&sll=37.769561,-122.412844&z=14&output=kml Is there an easy way to just set a property that tells the MKMapView to search for a keyword and display all matching business around my current location? Or does anybody know how to get this information from google?

But when I'm using the release build configuration the program freezes for around two seconds efter the loader sends the progress events and before sending the complete event.   • Best way to display a list of events by month

    I have a mySQL table of events and want to display them in a list using PHP. Pretty simple, except I only want to display the month name once, for example: May 2010 12th, 7 pm. Event 1 - event one description 15th, 5:30 pm. Event 2 - event two description June 2010 9th, 7 pm. Event 1 - event one description 11th, 5:30 pm. Event 2 - event two description I'm very new at SQL and PHP. I can think of one way to do it. It would involve selecting all records grouped by date, then looping through all records, comparing the month/year value each time and the first time the month/year doesn't match, print a new header row to my HTML table. I can't believe it's the best or most efficient way to go. Any ideas for a newbie? I'm sure my way would work, but it's inelegant at best, and processor-intensive at worst.
