    We currently use a GridView to display 1000+ rows of data. Minimum requirement for replacement is a fixed header row, fixed footer and columns would be a plus. This would have to work across IE 6 and greater. I've heard good things about Infragistics, but the demo on their page is slow. So what are my best options? jQuery? YUI? other 3rd party?

    I've seen in applications a popup that prompts me what I do want to do with a text. I am prompted to choose from Send by SMS, Send by Email, Send by Bluetooth, Send by Fring etc. How do I make such a popup, it seamed to be automatically built? Also how do I tell what message to use? And if needed how do I tell who the contact is? Maybe chooses the options based on the contact, (if has email, show email)

But there is no option to scan a particular drive on demand by right click on it in windows explore as we had in Windows 7 with MS essential or like other antiviruses. I know we can run a custom scan for the particular drive or specific folder but that process is too lengthy and time consuming. This guide explain that how we can add the Windows Defender in the desktop right click menu, so I'm curious is there a way to add it in the Windows explorer right click menu to launch a search whenever I need to.

  • Best way to create a common folder when creating new users that is a drop box, readable and writeable by all users

    What is the best way to provide a common drop box for all users, so that any user that is a part of a particular group can read and write to and from the directory? I thought of creating a directory outside of the /home directory, creating a group specifically for accessing the directory, then adding all desired users to that group, and finally adding a symlink to the home directory of each user that points to the drop box folder. That seems like a lot of work. Is there a better way? I'm running ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

  • How to make Windows 7 use a different name for the Program Files folder?

    How can I properly rename the Program Files folder in Windows 7? That is, not simply rename the directory and create symlinks, but make Windows itself see the location of installed programs as something else. I have already renamed the directory to Programs (using desktop.ini for a localized name in explorer), and made Program Files into a symlink to that, but I wonder if it's ever possible to erase the symlink by configuring Windows to, under all circumstances, assume Programs as the actual name for the programs directory. I heard that it should be possible to choose the name from Windows installation, but I'm not sure. Besides, I don't want to reinstall Windows from scratch. Before you mention %ProgramFiles%, no, it doesn't work. I'm not sure if Windows has that location hard-coded, or if replacing all occurrences in the registry would be enough.

    Let's assume some things: Back-ups do run every X minutes, yet the things I save should be permanent. There's a firewall and virus scanner in place, yet there happens to be a zero day attack on me. I am using Windows. (Although feel free to append Linux / OS X parts to your answer) Here is the problem Any software can change anything inside my user folder. Tampering with the files could cost me my life, whether it's accessing / modifying or wiping them. So, what I want to ask is: Is there a permission-based way to disallow programs from accessing my files in any way by default? Extending on the previous question, can I ensure certain programs can only access certain folders? Are there other less obtrusive ways than using Comodo? Or can I make Comodo less obtrusive? For example, the solution should be proof against (DO NOT RUN): del /F /S /Q %USERPROFILE%

  • Where is the Mac Divx Web Player 7 cache folder?

    Until recently, I was using Divx web player 1.4.2 because it seemed to be the least buggy. It was saving files in users/xxxxxx/movies/divx movies/temporary added files and was deleting them when the cache limit was reached. Now with 7, it's saving them alright cause I can watch my HD space go down, but I can't find them. And it's not respecting the cache limit size (mine is 4GB). The only way to clear up this space is a restart of the Mac. I'm running 10.6.8and Chrome. I've looked everywhere for the folder manually. Where is it?

  • Is putting the swapfile & temp folder to ramdisk a good idea in Windows 7 64 bit with lots of RAM?

    I want my Windows to run as fast as possible. If I have 12GB RAM in Windows 7 64bit, quad core CPU, and all apps fit in memory, will the swap file ever be used for anything? The question is about if it's a good idea to put the swap file in a RAM disk. Would a RAM disk help in any way or will Windows intelligently use all the available memory for all its work? I am also thinking of putting the temp folder on a RAM disk. I know the RAM disk is volatile memory and I don't care about its content if it gets lost.

  • Using the Drop Box folder while sharing on Mac OS X, files are locked.

    While using the Drop Box in the Shared folder on two MacBook Pros running Mac OS X 10.6, I noticed that when files were dropped into the drop box they were read only (locked?) when going from one of the laptops to the other (but not necessarily the other direction). Is there a way to change this? My girlfriend nearly had an aneurism because she couldn't rename a file. I duplicated it and deleted the original, but this seems unnecessary.     I have a Kyocera MFD. I have it set to scan to email using the ISP's SMTP server. The messages are delivered and received by the hosted email server. The POP connector on the SBS server downloads the messages, but delivers them to the badmail folder. I have given the message a subject and a body.     I just tried to copy my Users folder from partition C to partition D using the method mentioned in this post. Unfortunately I encountered two problems: When using the command robocopy c:\Users d:\Users /mir /xj /copyall, robocopy says that it can't find the file C:\Users\, although it exists. When using the command robocopy x:\Users d:\Users /mir /xj /copyall, robocopy says that it cannot find the path d:\Users\Administrator\Application Data, error code <0x00000003>. I started the command line mode of my Windows 7 installation disk (repair mode). Does anybody know what the reasons for these errors might be?

I know I could copy the content into a directory called ZippedDir\ and then zip this new directory. However, I was wondering if there was a way to avoid this extra copy step and directly zip the content, if possible, via command line.

    I have a folder which contains a ~50 text files (PHP) and hundreds of images. I would like to move all the images to a subfolder, and update the PHP files so any reference to those images point to the new subfolder. I know I can move all the images quite easily (mv *.jpg /image, mv *.gif /image, etc...), but don't know how to go about updating all the text files - I assume a Regex has to be created to match all the images in a file, and then somehow the new directory has to be appended to the image file name? Is this best done with a shell script? Any help is appreciated (Server is Linux/CentOs5) Thanks!

  • Can I change the system's "Browse for Folder" dialog globally?

    As far as I know, everyone hates the "Browse for Folder" dialog: This dialog is always too small, rarely remembers locations well, and worst of all: forces you to navigate your entire computer using a tedious tree structure. Now, to be fair, some of the problems are likely to do with how apps are invoking the control -- not setting a size or a default directory, etc. But the problem about the tedious tree control remains. Is there any way to customize your Windows installation to use a different control? Preferably an app/installer that does it for you safely, but dropping in a compatible DLL or similar technique would be okay too. Or are we stuck with this terrible control forever?
