  • JPanel's child components paint/layout problem

    I'm having a problem that when my frame is shown (after a login dialog) the buttons are not on correct position, then in some miliseconds they go to the right position (the center of the panel with border layout). When I make a SSCCE, it works correct, but when I run my whole code I have this fast-miliseconds delay to the buttons to go to the correct place. Unfortunately, I can't post the whole code, but the method that shows the frame is: public void login(JComponent userView) { centerPanel.removeAll(); centerPanel.add(userView); centerPanel.revalidate(); centerPanel.repaint(); frame.setVisible(true); } What would cause this delay to the panel layout? But this don't answer the question, I still think Java Swing is creating new threads for make the layout behind the scenes.

I have deployed my application on internet and now when I am going to the source of the page, I am able to see all my asp.net controls defined [ie. my aspx page], is their any way I can hide it so that user can't see my source of the page [except right click of mouse] or at least display in pure HTML form so that people can not identify that I am using asp.net.   • predict location of single-line text from a UITextView

    Is this possible? Specifically, I have a UITextView, and the text is short enough that it will fit on a single line. I want to predict where it will appear, so that (for example) if I wanted to, I could set up a UILabel that rendered the text in exactly the same location. Once I get that figured out, what I really want to do is pick contentInset and/or contentOffset so that the text of the UITextView and the left-justified UILabel will render in the same location. But I figure the above will let me do that. EDIT: In response to a comment, the fundamental problem I am trying to get around is that UITextField does not let you set the location of the cursor. It appears a lot of people have tried to get around this without success. I need to be able to move the cursor -- inserting/deleting text there is not enough.   • 2D Engine scrolling on OpenGL via hardware?

    hi, I'm using OpenGL as the bottom end for a 2D tiling engine. When everything is 2D, it is simple to optimize certain issues. For example, scrolling. If I know a certain section of the screen needs to scroll off the bottom, then I can just blit over that portion. I'm evening moving more than 1 pixel at a time. Without explicit hardware support (think old nintendo hw), this requires a lot of pixel writes. An on chip bitblt would be the next best thing. Essentially, I'm looking at how I can optimize my GL calls to use VRAM texture renders as efficient hardware blits. Is it possible to have GL scroll the framebuffer, or should I just resign myself to double-buffering and re-rendering an entire scene for each frame? Thx

For that reason I'm looking for a shell tool, which gets the html page from server (like 'wget') and then executes contained Javascript, include pictures and so on. After this, the tool should give me a 'screenshot' of the rendered page, so that I can create a checksum for that screen. (So I want to the same as opening browser in Windows, open webpage and make a screenshot after page load, but on linux) Can anyone give me a hint?

I'm thinking about if it's possible to use engine from firefox? Is there some dll library I can use, navigate to the page and go throw DOM of the page?

    Hi, In the python app engine docs, I see something called dbReferenceProperty. I can't understand what it is, or how it's used. I'm using the java interface to app engine, so I'm not sure if there's an equivalent. I'm interested in it because it sounds like some sort of pseudo-join, where we can point a property of a class to some other object's value - something like if we had: class User { private String mPhotoUrl; private String mPhone; private String mState; private String mCountry; .. etc .. } class UserLite { @ReferenceProperty User.mPhotoUrl; private String mPhotoUrl; } then if we had to update a User object's mPhotoUrl value, the change would somehow propagate out to all UserLite instances referencing it, rather than having to update every UserLite object instance manually, Thanks

  • IE6 and IE7 Standalone: Prove they're not the real thing

    It's common knowledge on SO (see this question) that to run IE6 and IE7 you need a Windows box (or virtual box) with only those apps installed. I doubt this is true (they are the real versions, I think). The two browsers I'm interested in are: Standalone IE6 from the MultipleIEs install Standalone IE7 also from Tredosoft (but published elsewhere) These two plus a "real" install of IE8 give you three IE versions in one Windows install. While we all know that "You're out of luck if you're trying to run them all reliably in one VM," but can someone please show me JS, CSS, or HTML (or a plugin, etc.) that does not work on the standalone versions as it should?

  • Prism: How to render one view on top of another

    We have a Prism/WPF application and are using an expander to animate a menu. When the expander expands, the content is rendered behind the main region's content. The menu is in a different region than the content it is supposed to overlay (since the menu governs what items go into that region) which is why this is occurring. We have tried setting the Z-Index of the ContentControls to no avail.

  • Why exactly is server side HTML rendering faster than client side?

    I am working on a large web site, and we're moving a lot of functionality to the client side (Require.js, Backbone and Handlebars stack). There are even discussions about possibly moving all rendering to the client side. But reading some articles, especially ones about Twitter moving away from client side rendering, which mention that server side is faster / more reliable, I begin to have questions. I don't understand how rendering fairly simple HTML widgets in JS from JSON and templates is a contemporary browser on a dual core CPU with 4-8 GB RAM is any slower than making dozens of includes in your server side app. Are there any actual real life benchmarking figures regarding this? Also, it seems like parsing HTML templates by server side templating engines can't be any faster than rendering same HTML code from a Handlebars template, especially if this is a precomp JS function?

    I am trying to intercept a asp.net web request and based on a lookup replace the page thats going to be rendered to the client. example: is a request for "/about-us" comes to my web server, i will first see if i have a version of this in the database, otherwise i will revert to flat files. The version i will retrieve from the database will be a .aspx page that has to be rendered and containt web controls and inline serverside script. What is the best way to go about this? I have tried overriding the CreateHtmlTextWriter method but this seems too late in the process as the TextWriter passed to this method is already instantiated. I have also tried to Implement my own PageHandlerFactory but this seems to create an instance of Page of which i cannot seem to override its internal setting of the Response.Output stream. Amd i barking up the wrong tree here? what is the best approach to take here?

    I want to draw some 3D network diagrams in a web browser, and the data for these diagrams are in a Rails app (in the database). I already use flotomatic as a Rails interface for pretty Javascript plots (e.g., independent variable, dependent variable). Certainly there are packages for drawing simple things in Javascript. What I'm looking for is (a) a Javascript package for 3D drawings that are displayed in a web browser (without a plugin), and (b) a Ruby API for that package, if possible. Any recommendations?   • Does migrating a site that is 99% several megs of static HTML from Apache to Google App Enging make

    I have a large site of mostly static content, and I have entertained migrating to Google App Engine. I am wondering, not so much if it is possible as whether that is cutting a steak with a screwdriver. I see a way to do it in Django that has a bad design smell. Does migrating a literature site that is largely static HTML from Apache to Google App Engine make sense? I'm not specifically asking for a comparison to Nginx or Cherokee; I am interested in whether migrating from a traditional web hosting solution to a more cloudy type of solution recommends itself.     I am on a shared web hosting linux server. I want search engine robots/spiders to be able to read the robots.txt but not any one typing www.mysite.com/robots.txt. As per the following google group post, the user specifies that by setting file permission to 640, it's possible to deny access to robots.txt file by the world but still enable search engine robots to read them. Is that true? If not how it's possible to deny general public access to robots.txt but still allow Search engine robots to read them.
