  • MVVM View Model DTOs

    - by Burt
I have a WCF based application that uses the services to access repositories on the server side. I am passing DTOs from the server to the client and was wondering how best to make the DTOs part pf the view model. I have a workign example of just plain properties on the view model but was unsure how to deal with actual DTO objects and any possible conversion between the DTO and the Vview model properties.

  • Implementing SSL tunnel in C#

    - by RaYell
As a part of a larger application I need to implement an SSL tunnel in C#. I was wondering if there's a better way of doing that instead of writing each step of SSL negotiation myself which sounds like reinventing the wheel. Do you know if there are any libraries that I could use to minimize the code I need to write or any tutorials which show how this or similar thing can be implemented most efficiently in .NET?

  • Is it still worth reading Programming Windows by Charles Petzold?

    - by Morke
I've been wanting to delve a bit deeper in win32 programming, and I was wondering what the best book on this subject is. Most people seem to recommend Programming Windows by Charles Petzold, however, the latest version of this book is from 1998 and deals with windows 98. Is it still worth reading or should I try other books? If so, which ones?

  • C++ includes with and without .h

    - by wyatt
I've never noticed it making any difference whether or not I include the .h at the end of an include, so I've always ignored the meaning, but I've just noticed in a particular program of mine, I get the error "memcpy was not declared in this scope" if I include "string", but not if I include "string.h". First of all, I was wondering the specific cause of this, but also generally the difference between the two. At the same time, if someone could explain the difference between includes in angular brackets and those in quotation marks, It'd be much appreciated.

    - by flavour404
Hi, I have the following query which uses a date variable, which is generated inside the stored procedure: DECLARE @sp_Date DATETIME SET @sp_Date = DateAdd(m, -6, GETDATE()) SELECT DISTINCT pat.PublicationID FROM PubAdvTransData AS pat INNER JOIN PubAdvertiser AS pa ON pat.AdvTransID = pa.AdvTransID WHERE (pat.LastAdDate > @sp_Date) AND (pa.AdvertiserID = 12345)) The problem is that the @sp_Date value appears to be being ignored and I am wondering why? Have I defined or used it incorrectly? sql microsoft sql-server-2008 User error... Thanks, R.

  • Splitting jQuery into multiple files (for iPhone caching)

    - by Marko Ivanovski
Hi, I was wondering if there is a way to split jQuery into multiple files, i.e. jQuery-1.4.2_part1.js jQuery-1.4.2_part2.js jQuery-1.4.2_part3.js ...and so on. The reason I want to do this is because the iPhone doesn't cache assets larger than 25kb and I really need jQuery to only be downloaded once. If you think there are other workarounds for this I am considering all options right now. Thanks, Marko

    - by Barryman9000
I've used ABDpdf to render a pdf and stream it to the browser, but I'm wondering if I can attach the rendered pdf to an email. Has anyone ever done that? I'm hoping there is a way that doesn't require me to save the pdf to a temp directory then attach the file, then delete it.

  • iPhone -- MKReverseGeocoder.adminstrativeArea -- getting state abbreviation

    - by rayjohannessen
In the documentation for MKReverseGeocoder, the administrativeArea property gives you the current state the user is in, and it mentions in an example that it returns EITHER the state name OR its abbreviation. I am wondering if anyone knows how to get the abbreviation instead of the full state name...I have been able to find nothing that shows this is even a possibility besides that brief example that doesn't mention HOW. Thanks!

  • Identifying and removing null characters in UNIX

    - by fahdshariff
I have a text file containing unwanted null characters. When I try to view it in I see ^@ symbols, interleaved in normal text. How can I: a) Identify which lines in the file contains null characters? I have tried grepping for \0 and \x0, but this did not work. b) Remove the null characters? Running strings on the file cleaned it up, but I'm just wondering if this is the best way? Thanks

Regards!
