  • API to determine cell carrier?

    Is there a free API or some other way to determine what carrier a cell phone number is registered with? I'd like my application to broadcast text messages without them picking their carrier from a list. UPDATE: Interestingly, a coworker found the answer: http://developer.whitepages.com/ UPDATE2: Well the whitepages license agreement is so restrictive that you can't build an app for it. Any other ideas?

  • Del.icio.us get xml of all posts

    Im trying to get all of my posts in a delicious account to an MySql DB. Since delicious exports xml I think it wont be too complicated, but being new to it I cant really make sense of the api... I believe I have to query it as so: https://api.del.icio.us/v1/posts/all? But one catch is that im using an yahoo id for that account which I need to do it as follows: "To access data from accounts created using a Yahoo! ID, use the same API's as below, but change the path to /v2, and make HTTP requests using OAuth as provided by the Yahoo! Developer Network." I cant understand how to do it, can someone please help. Thanks. EDIT Although I still have the same doubt I figured out I can export the whole thing from the settings in my account, now I just need to get the html export in a xml file :) Also the yahoo method for accessing data, really is no good.

  • Virtual Earth Shape Rendering Performance

    I am overlaying a transparent image on my VEMap control by rendering it as a single VEShape. The shape changes sizes dynamically depeding on the zoom level of my map and can be as large as 4000*4000px. In older browsers such as IE6 and early versions of Firefox 2.x, map control performance degrades rapidly when my shape gets larger than 1500*1500px. The mouse pointer moves slowly and the map responds very slowly to events. I don't see this issue at all in newer browsers (IE7+). Are there any workarounds to boost performance of rendering a large shape for IE6 users?

    Does anyone know if there is any API exposed to manage repository permissions within SharpSVN? For example, programatically adding read and write permissions on a per repository basis. Alternatively, any other thoughts on managing permissions with other SVN APIs? Worst case wil be manually managing the contents of svnaccessfile but this is a last resort. Thanks.

    I'm about to design my Web service API, most of the functions of my API is basically very simular to my web application. Now the question is, should I create 1 single method and reuse them for both the web application and the web service api? (This seems to be the logical solution, however its very complicated; it's much easier to duplicate the method used by the web application, and keep both separate, ie one method for the web application and one method for the web service.) How do you guys do it? 1) REUSE: one main method and reuse them for both web application and web service application (I like this but it's complicated) WebAppMethodX --uses-- COMMONFUNCTIONMETHOD_X APIMethodX ---uses---- COMMONFUNCTIONMETHOD_X ie common function performs functions such as creating/updating/deleting records etc 2) DUPLICATE: two methods, one method for the web application and one method for the web service.   • Using key().id() on GAE Datastore and reverse geocoding

    I have 6000 data of district, subdistrict. I need to represent this on dependent dropdown. The datamodel is for example; class Location(db.Model): location_name = db.StringProperty() location_parent = db.IntegerProperty() location_parent is reference to key() or id()? Still cannot decide which one is good. When i use key() as reference then using JSON to create jquery dependent drop down. My page loading/query and rendering time the dropdown is quite slow? Can i use key().id() as drop down option value to lighten up the page load? Any better solution for this parent/child reference for the drop down? For example: for the district record/entities the location-parent is null, for sub district record location_name will contain reference to parent district record. Other issue is to reverse geocoding the location to store or display geoPoint (lat,long)? Is google MAP API always find the exact lat,long of specific region boundaries or any error checking for the result?
