I am very new to iPhone programming and I was wondering how could I create a separate section for my application in the Settings.app? Like what the Facebook or BeejiveIM or JellyCar apps do. Would I have to declare this dynamically, or could I use Interface Builder?
As I understand in the service books we have the entries for each messaging and transport service. The configuration for those services are stored there. In particular I see the Google talk, Yahoo client download and facebook as services.
Hi,
My friend's account for some Facebook game was suspended on the grounds that he had Greasemonkey installed on his browser. He is asked to uninstall Greasemonkey and account has been restored. My question is how can a web server detect a client side plugin presence?
I assume that Greasemonkey or greasemonkey scripts operate on the client side only so it would not be possible for the server to detect it.
Thanks.
Picture a listbox in Silverlight that is similar to the "feed" on facebook. Each item might be 1) a status update with an image on the left, 2) a photo thumbnail with a title, 3) a youtube video, or 4) a blog entry. Each item uses a different template. How would you accomplish this?
Serious question.
I tried most of the famous websites (including facebook) and I can say that tons of functionality doesn't degrade at all with js disabled. I've been always told that js should degrade gracefully, but does this still applies in these day and age?
ie6 support is being dropped by several sites, and most of the web2.0 relies heavily on js (especially ajax, I even found some sites that doesn't let you login without js enabled).
What are your thought about it?
I am creating a chat like facebook chat... so in views.py of my Chat Application, I need to retrieve only the last messages every 3-4 seconds with ajax poll ( the latency is not a problem for me ).
If I can disable some Middlewares and some Request Context in this view, the response will be faster... no ?
My question is:
Is there a way to disable some Middlewares and some Request Context in some views ?
I was wondering if it is possible to log into a site with the normal login form (take facebook for example) through a proxy server. Once logged in, can a person disconnect from the proxy and use their normal ISP connection to access the members area on the site without logging in again?
Thanks!
my problem is quite simple, but as a beginner, I'm lost :D
I have to view controller :

Do you have any Drupal module (or other solution) to implement a feature similiar to Facebook's Share a Link?
To be precise:
you paste a link
site's preview is generated
title
short excerpt
and a thumbnail of one of the site's images
I am unable to access certain websites from my PC viz. google.com, gmail.com , stackoverflow.com, etc. However, I am able to access facebook.com, twitter.com, infoq.com etc. Currently I am accessing Google via proxy server. I suspect that the problem might exist with websites that have used ASP for scripting. Please suggest a solution to the problem that I am facing.
Switching aged 2003 SRV to 2008 caused my Asp.net 2 application fail: The application is no more loading the required library DLL from /bin/ folder anymore.
What should I change in my code or web.config to make this webapp load OK also in new 2008 server?
Now I receive this error when I access the application: This type is in IMPORTS ( Dll ).
Compiler Error Message: BC30002: Type
'Facebook.Entity.User' is not defined.
Hi,
I'm planning a web service and doing a little research about what are current methods of secure user authentication.
Is what Google and Facebook are doing considered an industry standard?
I need to create a simple Chat system like facebook chat and a twitter-like app.
What is the best concurrent program languages in this case ?
Erlang, Haskell, Scala or anything else ?
Thanks ^_^
Hello!
I'd like to get the main image for an article, much like Facebook does when you post a link (but without the choosing image part). The data we have to work with is the whole pages HTML as a variable. The page & URL will be different for every time this function runs.
Are there any libraries or classes that are particularly good at getting the main body of content, much like Instapaper that would be of any help?
I dont know what is the problem with this ?
$('.post').live('mouseenter mouseleave', function() {
$(this).filter('anything here,a,div,.class,#id').toggleClass('hidden');
});
where as this works fine.
$('.post').live('mouseenter mouseleave', function() {
$(this).toggleClass('hidden');
});
There is an anchor which I would like to show on mouse hover. Similar to Facebook
I'm working on giving our users context-specific PUSH notification settings, similar to what Facebook has in their settings menu.
As far as I can tell though, there's no way to actually notify our server of these changes until the user actually launches the app.
Is this correct? Is there any mechanism provided for immediately alerting our servers to a settings change?
I have to create a bunch of these "Share this on" Technorati, Digg, Facebook, Reddit, del.icio.us, StumbleUpon, MySpace and so on. It is very easy to find online icons for this task, but it is a little more difficult to find what URLs I should link.
Is there any updated list of all these services? Of course I could copy them from other sites having this, but I am not sure they are updated, and moreover maybe there is some GET parameter I want to set differently.
Can anyone suggest an article or perhaps an example of how to create an "infinite drill-down" with UINavigationController like you see in the Facebook, IMDB and BrightKite apps?
I looking for free ASP.NET based content management system (CMS) which has the following features:
Blogs (Admin, some super users can have their own blogs)
Forums (Admins can create forums. Some moderation features)

Support for moderated user registration (moderated by Admin)
Windows Sharepoint services 3.0 is an option. With some tweaking, it supports all the above and there are free third party web parts available.
NB: The CMS listed must be free, as in beer.

I have a model "news item" which contains text, image etc to display as latest news on several pages in a website.
This "news item" can also be posted to Twitter or Facebook. Is it clean to implement a method post inside the news item model and inject the different post implementations as a strategy?
Or is it better to have a separate application service for this?
Thanks
