• Configuring IoC container from modules/plug-ins ?

  Hi guys, i am in big dilema.. I am working on highly modular web app in ASP.NET MVC 2 (in fact, core will be super lightweight, all work on modules/plugins). I found MEF pretty useful for modules discovery, but i dont want to us it as IoC container. There is pretty good chance that I will need advanced features of "true" IoC container, so I would like to use Unity. And here is the problem : how to allow modules to configure container (programatically) = register their own types (mvc controllers, custom implementations of services...) at application start without making hard dependency on Unity in all modules ? I know about Common Service Locator project, and it seems pretty good, but this interface co container only allows resolving types, not registering them (afaik). I really hope you can understand my point, I know my english is terrible (I am from non english speaking country :) Thanks a lot !

• Graph diffing and versioning tool

  I am working with a team that edits large DAGs represented as single files. Currently we are unable to work with multiple users concurrently modifying the DAG. Is there a tool (somewhat like the Eclipse SVN plugin) that can do do revision control on the file (manage timestamps/revision stamps) to identify incoming/outgoing/conflicting changes (Node/Link insertion/deletion/modification) and merge changes just like programmers do with source code files? The system should be able to do dependency management also. E.g. an incoming Link must not be accepted when one of the two Nodes is absent. That is, it should not "break" the existing DAG by allowing partial updates. If there is a framework to do this using generic "Node" and "Link" interfaces? Note: I am aware of Protege and its plugins. They currently do not satisfy my requirements.

  I have a singleton in my FTP app designed to store all of the types of servers that the app can handle, such as FTP or Amazon S3. These types are plugins which are located in the app bundle. Their path is located by applicationWillFinishLoading: and sent to the addServerType: method inside the singleton to be loaded and stored in an NSMutableDictionary. My question is this: How do I bind an NSDictionaryController to the dictionary inside the singleton instance? Can it be done in IB, or do I have to do it in code? I need to be able to display the dictionary's keys in an NSPopupButton so the user can select a server type. Thanks in advance! SphereCat1

• What are the main advantages of adding your custom functions to a javascript libraries namepsace?

  It is fairly well known in JavaScript that declaring variables within the global scope is a bad thing. So code I tend to work on contains namespaced JavaScript. There seems to be two different approaches taken to this - Adding your application specific functions to the libraries' namespace e.g. $.myCarouselfunction Creating your own namespace e.g. MyApplication.myCarouselFunction I wanted to know whether or not there is a 'better' solution or if they tend to meet somewhere close in terms of pros and cons. The reason for me personally deciding not to go with the library is for Seperation / Isolation / Lack of conflict with library code and potential plugins that are likely to share that namespace. But I am sure there is more to this. Thanks

• Zend Framework Error:Invalid parameter number: no parameters were bound'

  I'm using the Zend Frameworker 1.12. According to the help file, I used the Zend_Db_Statement to execute my sql. • MVC - Loading DLL programmactically

  I'm trying to implement a plugable architecture in asp.net MVC. I have based my modules on the following article - http://www.wynia.org/wordpress/2008/12/aspnet-mvc-plugins. I have a DLL that contains a simple controller, and a view. The view is an embedded resource within the DLL. The problem I'm having is, if I drop the DLL in the bin directory of my MVC application manually, then everything works perfectly i.e. the assembly loads correctly. But when I copy the DLL from a file upload input box (via a web form) into the bin directoy, I get an error (The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest.) when trying to load the assembly. I use the same DLL, what could the problem be?

• Django + Pydev/Eclipse + Google App Engine - possible?

  Has anyone been able to get Google App Engine/Django working in Pydev/Eclipse? I tried this but had difficulty getting Pydev to recognize all of the externally linked folders (django plugins) that I was referencing. I ended up copying all of those folders into the project en masse, rather than referencing them, resulting in a massively bloated project folder - it was really an unworkable solution that eventually made me give up the whole project. So, I'm wondering if anyone has tried this or has any idea what I might have been doing wrong. (Keep in mind this was my first attempt at using Pydev, Django, App Engine and Python!!)

• How to deploy and configure many copies of an application to multiple domains on the same server

  We are about to begin work on an application that will eventually be deployed many times on one server. I am hoping to build a nice interface so that one of my coworkers can easily create new deployments of this application. The idea is to create a wizard with a series of options that will configure basic properties of each particular copy of the app such as color scheme, domain name, etc. Each copy of the application may be further tweaked independently down the line. I would like to know what is the best way to manage the automatic creation of users, the updating of domain name info and the deploying of copies of an application, with the ability to maintain certain discrepancies between each of these copies (such as installed plugins, different CSS) as we update the application in the future. What I'm asking is extremely similar to the way StackExchange 1.0 functioned, where a user could configure several options and a customized version of the StackExchange would soon be up and running. How is this accomplished?

  Authlogic is trying to prepend a before_filter in ActionController::Base to active itself, the problem is that ApplicationController has already been loaded meaning the before_filter won't get copied into your application. Generally this is due to another gem or plugin requiring your ApplicationController prematurely, such as the resource_controller plugin. The solution is to require Authlogic before these other gems / plugins. Please require authlogic first to get rid of this error. (Authlogic::ControllerAdapters::RailsAdapter::AuthlogicLoadedTooLateError) I had installed radiant 0.9.rc2, extension reader and required gem Authologic So while running script/server on ubuntu 9.04 i am receiving the above error Any Suggestion, Thanx in advance

• How to display the rss version of a News Link

  I'm trying to write a script that will show the rss version of a single url (title, author, image, source, etc..). This should behave much the way that facebook does when you copy paste a link to share and it generates this information automatically. I'm trying to do this with a php script but would also be open to opensource programs that can do this as well. also, if anyone knows of any Joomla/Drupal plugins that can do this that would be great.   Hi, I'm quite confused with what are the necessary tools for VSTO develpment. Specifically I want to manipulate Excel 2003/2007 documents programmatically. I did quite a lot of VBA before, if you want to relate any answer to that. Few questions I have about VSTO: Can I use Visual Studio 2008 Express Edition C#/C++ for this? Do I need to have .NET framework installed? Does the resulting VSTO program need to have a copy of Office installed in the same system to run? Direct links to the relevant tools/plugins/IDE will be appreciated. Note: I'm totally new to VSTO and .NET but an Office power user. Have experience with COM programming. Thanks.

  Hello, I'm a programmer, contractor, self experimenter and so on. I'd need to have cheap version control. I've been working with Subversion and recently with Mercurial. I've seen around many cheap hosting but, even if they are great (like BitBucket), many of them don't allow many private projects (1 or 2). Much of the code I need to keep on VC is not open, maybe because it is stuff I'm working on for clients, or maybe because it's code I usually need for my development, but it is not intended and usable as a open source project. Now, I've a cheap web hosting, with unlimited space and free mysql. I CAN'T install Mercurial or SVN on those machinese, but I was asking myself if is it there a way to use a common CVS with it, with "common" I mean something that has its good IDE plugins (Eclipse or Netbeans) that may avoid me to write commands by hand. • Jquery autocomplete for input form, using Textpattern category list as a source

  I'm using the Textpattern CMS to build a discussion site-- I have a firm grasp of XHTML and CSS, as well as Textpattern's template language, but PHP and Javascript are a bit beyond my cunning. On the input form to begin a new topic, users need to select a category from a list of over 5,000 options. Using the HTML select-type input element is very unwieldy, but it works. I would like to use some kind of Javascript magic to display a text-type input element that will read user input and display matches or autocomplete from the available categories, passing the required option's value into the appropriate database field. I've seen several autocomplete plugins for jquery, but the instructions presuppose that you understand how Javascript works. As I mentioned above, it's easy for me to generate the category list as a select-type input element, and I can hide that element using CSS. Is it possible to control select-list input using an autocomplete mechanism in a text-type input element? How would I do that?

  Hi, I'm using jQuery UI, sortable on an ul element. All good, except over time the data in my li elements has become table like, in the sense there are multiple columns of data. They aren't aligning correctly because this seems to be hard to do in ul, and indeed not what ul's are designed for. I have 2 choices the way I see Work out some really cool css to make my ul / li format nicely Work out how to convert this to a sortable table With option 2., looking at a few plugins that exist (tablednd for example), they seem very old. • Rails plugin for generating dynamic / ajax crud interfaces compatible with Rails 3 beta?

  Anyone know of some good gems or plugins to create dynamic / ajax crud interfaces for Rails 3 projects? I know active scaffold was popular before and it's been awhile since I have used it / any other gems similar to this (I usually just write it myself). I like the direction that the formtastic gem (http://github.com/justinfrench/formtastic) is headed and wonder what else people are combining with it. Also I like the generators approach that Ryan Bates uses and he appears to be making updates for Rails 3. Anything else I am missing here? (I am also open to gems not compatible with Rails 3 too I guess, I can always make a contribution and try to help them get to the next phase. ;)) PS - Really stackoverflow, only one hyperlink?? lame.

• different small js files per page VS. 1x site-wide js file?

  Different pages of my site have different js needs (plugins mainly), some need a lightbox, some dont, some need a carousel, some dont etc. With regards to pageloading speed should i option 1 - reference each js file when it is needed: so one page might have: <script type="text/javascript" src="js/carousel/scrollable.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.easydrag.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/colorbox/jquery.colorbox-min.js"></script> and another have: <script type="text/javascript" src="st_wd_assets/js/carousel/scrollable.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="st_wd_assets/js/typewatch.js"></script> option 2 - combine and compress into one site_wide.js file: so each page would reference: <script type="text/javascript" src="js/site_wide.js"></script> there would be unused selectors/event listeners though, how bad is this? I would include any plugin notes/accreditations at the top of the site_wide.js file

• Wordpress: Not able to retrieve css for new plugin in admin mode

  I'm creating a new plugin which will have it's own css file. The css file resides in the root folder of the plugin. In the plugin section of the admin interface, I have added a few text fields fields. But the CSS is not applied. I'm adding the CSS file using this code: // Register styling add_action('admin_init', 'event_styles'); function event_styles() { wp_register_style('event_cal', plugins_url('eventcall.css',__FILE__)); wp_enqueue_style('event_cal'); } The following code gives me the CSS path: echo plugins_url('eventcall.css',__FILE__); and outputs http://mysite.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-eventcal/eventcall.css If I try to enter this URL directly in the browser, it only shows me the front page. And if I look in the source code using Firebug, where the link to the CSS should be, I only find the entire HTML code for the front page. Am I using wrong code to use backend in admin interface? • Which Maven Glassfish plugin to use?

  I've been trying to integrate deploying java .war's in Glassfish V3 through Maven. While I have found a few plugins, none of them look to be very active: Maven Glassfish Plugin Eskato's Wordpress Blog on Maven And I got the most information out of Eskato's Blog, it was written March 2008, so I don't know what the state of Glassfish Maven integration is, nor can I find a suitable plugin to work with. With the Maven Glassfish Plugin I have had some success, but it still doesn't work entirely well for all goals it says it supports, which makes some of the commands ineffective. Has anyone else been able to integrate Glassfish V3 and Maven successfully? If so, what resources did you use to get it done?
