• ubuntu server 12.10 get input signal out of range on HP DL380 G4

  After installed ubuntu 12.10 server on HP DL380 G4, I can't boot into it. And the LCD got message "Input signal out of range, recommened settings is 1280x1024". I can't see the terminal and tried several LCDs and still can not work either. How can I should do now? I tried 12.04 but got fail message when installing (select and install software). Is that signal push me to change another os instead of my favorite ubuntu?

• How do I open "apt" links in Firefox on Lubuntu?

  Many answers on Ask Ubuntu direct to links like this that in Xubuntu opened in Ubuntu Software Center. In Lubuntu I get this error message: In Firefox-Preferences/Applications cannot see something resembling to apt to associate to a program etc. Opening the same link in Chromium or Opera I get: Clicking "I'm running Ubuntu" results in an error message like in Firefox. What's the remedy? Can I install Ubuntu Software Center?

• More on Map Testing

  I have been chatting with Maurice den Heijer recently about his codeplex project for the BizTalk Map Testing Framework (http://mtf.codeplex.com/). Some of you may remember the article I did for BizTalk 2009 and 2006 about how to test maps but with Maurice's project he is effectively looking at how to improve productivity and quality by building some useful testing features within the framework to simplify the process of testing maps. As part of our discussion we realized that we both had slightly different approaches to how we validate the output from the map. Put simple Maurice does some xpath validation of the data in various nodes where as my approach for most standard cases is to use serialization to allow you to validate the output using normal MSTest assertions. I'm not really going to go into the pro's and con's of each approach because I think there is a place for both and also I'm sure others have various approaches which work too. What would be great is for the map testing framework to provide support for different ways of testing which can cover everything from simple cases to some very specialized scenarios. So as agreed with Maurice I have done the sample which I will talk about in the rest of this article to show how we can use the serialization approach to create and compare the input and output from a map in normal development testing. Prerequisites One of the common patterns I usually implement when developing BizTalk solutions is to use xsd.exe to create .net classes for most of the schemas used within the solution. In the testing pattern I will take advantage of these .net classes. The Map In this sample the map we will use is very simple and just concatenates some data from the input message to the output message. Hopefully the below picture illustrates this well. The Test In the test I'm basically taking the following actions: Use the .net class generated from the schema to create an input message for the map Serialize the input object to a file Run the map from .net using the standard BizTalk test method which was generated for running the map Deserialize the output file from the map execution to a .net class representing the output schema Use MsTest assertions to validate things about the output message The below picture shows this: As you can see the code for this is pretty simple and it's all strongly typed which means changes to my schema which can affect the tests can be easily picked up as compilation errors. I can then chose to have one test which validates most of the output from the map, or to have many specific tests covering individual scenarios within the map. Summary Hopefully this post illustrates a powerful yet simple way of effectively testing many BizTalk mapping scenarios. • Don't show gwibber messages in indicator applet

  Gwibber turns the indicator-applet-icon blue, each time a new tweet appears in my timeline, which is always. It is therefore no longer usefull as a "there is a new message for you" resulting in many missed jabber/gtalk chats, finding emails half an hour late and so on. How can I mute Gwibber in there? Preferably so it only turns the new-message-icon blue on new replies and private messages in Gwibber. But certainly not on any update.

  I'm trying to create a bootable USB stick on OS X using http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/create-a-usb-stick-on-mac-osx When this finishes, I get a message in terminal saying "695+1 records in 695+1 records out 729067520 bytes transferred in 264.563662 secs (2755736 bytes/sec)" But a message pops up saying "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" Options are Initialize, Ignore or Eject.   On my command line only Ubuntu machine, the login prompt occasionally shows a warning: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS myserver tty1 myserver login: [833747.589882] ipheth: ipheth_rcvbulk_callback: urb status: -71 Nothing is obviously wrong with the system, and I can enter my username and password without issue. What does this message mean and should I be worried about it? Edit: I've found plugging in and then removing my iPhone from the computer causes this message. I'm still looking for what it means.

• Can not install Ubuntu on Samsung Ultrabook Series 5 (Win 7!)

I can boot from a USB stick without a problem and ubuntu work fine, but when I want to install it, the installation progress is stopped and it won't go further. • git post-receive hook throws "command not found" error but seems to run properly and no errors when run manually

  I have a post-receive hook that runs on a central git repository set up with gitolite to trigger a git pull on a staging server. It seems to work properly, but throws a "command not found" error when it is run. I am trying to track down the source of the error, but have not had any luck. Running the same commands manually does not produce an error. The error changes depending on what was done in the commit that is being pushed to the central repository. For instance, if 'git rm ' was committed and pushed to the central repo the error message will be "remote: hooks/post-receive: line 16: Removed: command not found" and if 'git add ' was committed and pushed to the central repo the error message will be "remote: hooks/post-receive: line 16: Merge: command not found". In either case the 'git pull' run on the staging server works correctly despite the error message. Here is the post-receive script: #!/bin/bash # # This script is triggered by a push to the local git repository. It will # ssh into a remote server and perform a git pull. # # The SSH_USER must be able to log into the remote server with a # passphrase-less SSH key *AND* be able to do a git pull without a passphrase. # # The command to actually perform the pull request on the remost server comes # from the ~/.ssh/authorized_keys file on the REMOTE_HOST and is triggered # by the ssh login. • Email can't be sent to my domain

  Hi Folks, Basically I have my domain howcode.com bought at DomainMonster.com. I have set it all up to point to MediaTemple nameservers and everything works - mostly - fine. I have registered an email address [email protected]. The setup is, I presume, working correctly. I can successfully send emails with the account. And I presume I can receive them - but the problem is, nobody can send them to me. Emailing from a regular, non-Googlemail account appears to work fine but it never arrives in the inbox. But when you email from a GoogleMail address, an error message is instantly returned saying this: Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently: [email protected] Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error.   I have a website, and in the "Contact" section I have a form which users may fill in to contact me. The form is a simple form which action is a php page. The problem is not in Outlook, because when I log in to the actual mailprogram where I fetch the POP3 emails from, the email looks the same. When I right click in Outlook and chose "message source" then there is no "From" information. Ex, a good message should look like this: Subject: =?UTF-8?B?w5Z2cmlndA==?= MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 From: John Doe However, the ones with problem looks like this: Subject: =?UTF-8?B??= MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 From: As if the information has been lost somewhere. You should know also that I have a VPS, which I manage myself. I use postfix as an emailserver, if thats got anything to do with it. But then again, why does it work sometimes? Also another thing that I have noticed is that sometimes special characters are not shown correctly (by both Outlook and the webmail). For instance, the name "Björkman" in swedish is shown like Björkman, but again, only sometimes. I hope anybody knows something about this problem, because it is very hard to track down for me atleast. If you need more input let me know.

  Hi folks I have a GridServer account at MediaTemple. The address linked up to my MT account is [email protected]. My non-Google email address could email [email protected] just fine. • SPF hardfail and DKIM failure when recipient has e-mail forwarding

  I configured hardfail SPF for my domain and DKIM message signing on my SMTP server. Since this is the only SMTP server that should be used for outgoing mail from my domain, I didn't foresee any complications. However, consider the following situation: I sent an e-mail message via my SMTP server to my colleague's university e-mail. The problem is that my colleague forwards his university e-mail to his GMail account. These are the headers of the message after it reaches his GMail mailbox: Received-SPF: fail (google.com: domain of [email protected] does not designate 192.168.128.100 as permitted sender) client-ip=192.168.128.100; Authentication-Results: mx.google.com; spf=hardfail (google.com: domain of [email protected] does not designate 192.168.128.100 as permitted sender) [email protected]; dkim=hardfail (test mode) [email protected] (Headers have been sanitized to protect the domains and IP addresses of the non-Google parties) GMail checks the last SMTP server in the delivery chain against my SPF and DKIM records (rightfully so). Since the last STMP server in the delivery chain was the university's server and not my server, the check results in an SPF hardfail and DKIM failure. Fortunately, GMail did not mark the message as spam but I'm concerned that this might cause a problem in the future. Is my implementation of SPF hardfail perhaps too strict? Any other recommendations or potential issues that I should be aware of? Or maybe there is a more ideal configuration for the university's e-mail forwarding procedure? I know that the forwarding server could possibly change the envelope sender but I see that getting messy.

• Why are UDP messages from outside the network received but not delivered?

  I have an Ubuntu Server 10.04 application I've developed that receives messages over a UDP port. The ultimate purpose of this application is to receive messages sent from workers' 3G modems out in the field. If use netcat on either another ubuntu Server or my Vista laptop (both on the same LAN as my test machine) to send a message, the message arrives correctly and appears in my application. However, if I go out to my car and use its 3G modem to send a message from the same Vista laptop, it doesn't work. If I run tcpdump -A, I see the message arrive correctly, but it's never delivered to my application. Clearly, the OS is the one making the choice not to deliver the messages (else they wouldn't appear in tcpdump nor would my app receive them when coming from local machines). I have not installed any firewall software on this machine, nor am I aware of anything installed by default that would block the traffic. sudo iptables --list returns Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination I'm not too familiar with iptables, but it looks to me like that's telling it to not do anything. What could be going on that's preventing my messages from being delivered?

  Hello I have a setup of exim4 on domain1 in front of other server, domain2 (with sendmail). Second server have no direct access to internet, so domain1 is MX for domain2. And domain2 is set as hubbed_host in the exim4 on domain1. When spammer sends message for no_such_user@domain2, its sendmail do a reject: 550 5.1.1 <no_such_user@domain2>... User unknown Then, exim4 at domain1 do an auto-reply like this: This message was created automatically by mail delivery software. A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed: no_such_user@domain2 SMTP error from remote mail server after RCPT TO:<no_such_user@domain2>: host 10.0.0.1 [10.0.0.1]: 550 5.1.1 <no_such_user@domain2>... User unknown The spammers uses fake "from" field, and such generated messages are frozen by exim for a long time. How can I disable some or all autoreplies from exim4? Ideally, I want a filter, if message was not delivered with error "User unknown" than don't generate any autoreply from mailer-daemon. Thanks!
