• "Dynamic" java validation framework?

  AFAIK JSR-303 is the standard bean validation system. I don't know whether it could do validations like this (I guess no): if an object has a deleted flag set, you cannot modify the object you cannot change the start date property, after the date is passed you cannot decrease some integer properties in the bean So how can I handle validations, which depend on the previous state of an object? I would like to solve problems like that in hibernate3.5 - spring3 - JPA2 environment. Thanks My solution was to mess with hibernate, reload the object to see the old state (after evicting the new object). This time I need some smarter solution...

  With all the recent hype about JavaScript and HTML5 replacing Flash, I wanted to know - How would it be possible to protect client-side js code? Of course, it is possible to obfuscate it, but that would only make it a little harder. Also, for games which submit high scores to the server, wouldn't it be incredibly easy to modify those scores before they are sent to the server? I know even Flash files can be decompiled, but they can be obfuscated and flash decompilation is not as easy as modifying data in JS - could be done easily using a plugin such as Firebug. I'd like to know everyone's views on this.

  Hi guys, I have started to work on a site without url rewriting. Now, the request is to use friendly urls so i started to use Intelligencia.UrlRewriter. So no longer return "~/Site/Categorii.aspx?category=m1" but "~/Site/Categorii/m1" without beeing needed to modify its structure? I mean, i have about 30 methods like the one from the above; it would be extremely helpfull if i can be guided to use a regex at the output of the methods iso modifying the url construction... I was able to do the same using swing contains several feature like drag and drop, progress bar, remove file / files , modify, limit file size, verify file information, timer, verify at run time ..and its a very powerful tool which uploads images. I would like to do the same in web based app, like user selects 200 images process it and click upload and it should start uploading, like to know any feasible frameworks or any API's which help me do this faster and achieve the same kind of functionality.   Is there a possibility to write a GUI from inside a function? The Problem is: The callback of all GUI-functions work in the global workspace. But functions have their own workspace and can not access variables in the global workspace. You agree not to modify, rent, lease, loan, sell, distribute or create derivative works based on the Service or the Software, in whole or in part." Does this mean that I can't write a program to consume a web service being published by the writers of this TOS? I find it kind of scary that I even have to ask this question. The wikipedia article on "derivative works" isn't very conclusive.

• Where is the best place to run initialization code for a UITabBarController?

  I have a UITabBarController in my application. I have to perform some customization to the NIB file using code the first time a view embedded in that UITabBarController gets loaded. When applicationDidFinishLaunching occurs, the UITabBarController's views apparently are not loaded -- if I try to modify the view controllers inside a tab bar that the tab bar is to load in applicationDidFinishLaunching, then those changes are ignored. I'm assuming this is because the tab bar didn't finish loading yet. So, I need a good place to put code that will run immediately after a tabbar is fully ready -- i.e. after it has loaded all the views from their respective nib files. I'm finding the only place I can do this is to track the first time viewDidAppear on each individual view controller. Note I can't use viewWillAppear because I need the value of tabBarController.selectedIndex to be accurate, and it is only actually updated after viewDidAppear gets fired, not when viewWillAppear gets fired.

  Hi, I have SharePoint site and I want to use form-based authentication, not Windows how it is by default. For this I read that I have to modify the web.config from Central Administration and web.config from my site with the membership and roleManager tags configured properly. But if I use this: <membership> <providers> <add name="MyProvider" type="System.Web.Security.SqlMembershipProvider, System.Web, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" .../> </providers> </membership> System.Web.Security.SqlMembershipProvider requires a database generated with ASP.NET SQL Server Setup Wizard (aspnet_regsql.exe), and this is my problem! • Dojo: dijit.form.DropDownButton content not positioned correctly

  I have the following setup: <div dojoType="dijit.form.DropDownButton"> <span>Modify</span> <div dojoType="dijit.Menu"> <div dojoType="dijit.MenuItem">...</div> </div> </div> There is of course more to the final setup. The problem I Have is that if I scroll in the page, the popup menu under the DropDownButton comes much higher in the page. I suspect that it's subtracting the scrollOffset for the position off the popup, while in reality that is not needed. Anyone got any tips about how to fix this? I would prefer to use declerative html syntax for using Dojo widgets. == Fixed == I updated to dojo 1.4.2 and this got fixed then.

So I have the following models: class Team(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=60) class Game(models.Model): home_team = models.ForeignKey(Team,related_name='home_team') away_team = models.ForeignKey(Team,related_name='away_team') class SeasonStats(models.Model): team = models.ForeignKey(Team) Ok, so my problem is the following. There are a lot of teams, but Stats are just managed for my Club. So if I use "list_display" in the admin backend, I'd like to modify/overwrite the queryset which builds the sidebar for filtering, to just display our home teams as a filter option. Is this somehow possible in Django? I already made a custom form like this class SeasonPlayerStatsAdminForm(forms.ModelForm): team = forms.ModelChoiceField(Team.objects.filter(club__home=True)) So now just the filtering is missing. Any ideas?

But when the file is residing on another server, the problem creeps in. Below is how I modify the flashvars. <param name="flashvars" value="autostart=false&content=http://myxyzsite.com/Private/Media/funny.mp4&color=0x000000,0x000000" /> This article explains how to load files from another server. When I point to this URL (http://myxyzsite.com/Private/Media/funny.mp4) in my browser directly, Open/Save dialog box is popped up. So the file exists. Should I set any HTTP headrs, say Content-Disposition to Attachment?

• Is C# WebAPI worth it? Can I use standart MVC4 to create my API?

  I need to build a massive API and I'm trying out WebAPI instead of default MVC4 projects and it seems that it just makes things more difficult. Can have only 4 methods in controller Get, Post, Put, Delete, if I want more I need to modify route for that particular method FluentValidation won't work with WebAPI so I need to use DataAnnotations which I really don't want to. Can't use dynamic return data-types My question is: Would it really be that bad if I would use MVC4 project and use default ActionResults that return Json? What are real advantages of using WebAPI, why did they even made them in the first place if you can easily convert your project to API?

So I modified my code according to that, and in the finally I inserted code that does not modify the output. Strangely, the code OUTSIDE the finally block does. My method always returns true. As suggested, it is not a good idea to have 2 return. What should I do?

  I'm trying to make a script in photoshop that will modify some layers and than export them as a PNG image. It's working fine with simple paths like 'C:\images\result.png' but when trying with different paths like '~/Desktop/' or paths with some special characters the file isn't exported, and a 'destination folder does not exist' error massage appear. Any idea how can I solve it?

  Is it possible to delete a private message queue that was created by the service user? During uninstallation, we would like to clean up any message queues created by our application. For security purposes, access to these queues has been restricted to the current user (ServiceUser). During uninstall, we have admin privileges, but still get an access denied MessageQueueException when we attempt to delete the queue or modify the privs on the queue. • Can I create a new project based on an abandoned one licenced under GNU GPL v2?

  I've found a SourceForge project with a solid core that I would like to improve. The project hasn't been updated since 2007 so I assume it is "dead". I sent an e-mail asking to become a contributor to the listed project manager last week but still haven't received a response. The project is licensed under the GNU GPL v2. I would like to contribute to the current project but that doesn't appear to be possible. Can I modify the current source version of the project and release this modified project? I would keep the same license on the modified project.

• ScheduledThreadPoolExecutor executing a wrong time because of CPU time discrepancy

  I'm scheduling a task using a ScheduledThreadPoolExecutor object. I use the following method: public ScheduledFuture<?> schedule(Runnable command, long delay,TimeUnit unit) and set the delay to 30 seconds (delay = 30,000 and unit=TimeUnit.MILLISECONDS). Sometimes my task occurs immediately and other times it takes 70 seconds. I believe the ScheduledThreadPoolExecutor uses CPU specific clocks. When i run tests comparing System.currentTimeMillis(), System.nanoTime() [which is CPU specific] i see the following schedule: 1272637682651ms, 7858346157228410ns execute: 1272637682667ms, 7858386270968425ns difference is 16ms but 4011374001ns (or 40,113ms) so it looks like there is discrepancy between two CPU clocks of 40 seconds How do i resolve this issue in java code? Unfortunately this is a clients machine and i can't modify their system.

  I have an array of users that's sorted in descending order based on total_points. I need to find the rank of each user in that array. The issue is that more than one user can have the same total points and, thus, the same rank. For example, three users could be in 3rd place with 200 Points.
