• Show file extensions in document libraries in Sharepoint 2010

  I've got a Sharepoint site collection with several sub sites each having their own document library. Now I want to add the file extensions to the document names in all those libraries. How should I do this? I've seen tips telling you to modify the onet.xml-file, but they never look like mine do, and furthermore I don't know for sure what happens to that onet.xml-file - does it change the existing libraries? Other tips tell me to use Sharepoint designer, that would mean I'll have to do it for every view in every library, wouldn't it? So I'd prefer doing it from code, where I feel more comfortable and where I can automate the process. So, all I want is to replace the "Name (linked to document with edit menu)" with the "Name (for use in forms)" but still keep the link and the edit menu. I've found I need to use the FileLeafRef-field, but I don't know how! Thankful for any new clues, Sebastian

• Updating MS - Access fields through MS-Excel cells

  Hi everyone.... Consider that i have an excel workbook and an access table not necessarily having a similar structure (i.e. They may not have same number of columns) When i open the workbook the rows in the excel sheet get populated by the rows in access table (copied from the access table into the excel sheet's particular range of cells specified using macros). Then i modify certain cells in the excel sheet. I also have a button called "Save" in the excel sheet. When pressed, this will execute a macro. My question how can i update the access table to reflect the changes in the excel sheet when the save button is clicked...? Thanks for your time and suggestions...!

  I would like to add an additional parameter in my url, the use case is the following: When user do their login they also specify a 'company' name and from that moment on, all urls should map to: /$company/$controller/$action/$id The main idea is to have the current company name available in all url's, have it bookmarkable, and not to have to pass the company name everywhere as a request parameter. Also, once users are logged in it is acceptable to have the chosen company name in session scope. What is the right way of inserting this parameter in all our urls? I tried to modify my UrlMappings mapping, but I didn't found a way to insert the company name. Thanks,

• How to run a recorded (HTML) selenium test from .NET

  I run Selenium tests with Selenium RC from .NET (c#). In some cases, I would like to keep the test case source as HTML (to be able to modify it from Selenium IDE), but I would like to run/include these tests from my c# unit tests. Maybe it is obvious, but I can't find the API method in the Selenium Core to achieve this. Any idea how to do that? (I think the "includePartial" command in Selenium on Rails does the thing that I would need, but for c#.)

• Resharper: how to force introducing new private fields at the bottom of the class?

  Resharper offers a very useful introduce and initialize field xxx action when you specify a new parameter in a constructor like: Constructor (int parameter) The only (minor) nuisance is that it puts the new field at the beginning of the class - and I'm a fan of putting private parts as far away as possible from the prying eyes of strangers ;). If, however, you already have some private fields in the class, Resharper will put the new field "correctly" (note the quotes, I don't want to start a flame war over this issue) next to those, even if they are at the end of the class. Is there a way to force Resharper to always put new fields at the end of the class? UPDATE: OK, I forgot to mention I know about the "Type Members Layout in Options" feature, but some concrete help on how to modify the template to achieve fields placement would be nice.

  An iPhone application I have installed uses an SQLite database to log entries with basic INSERTS and DELETES being performed on it. However I wish to keep a permanent log of the INSERTS made to this table, so when an INSERT occurs, I want it to be written to another table also as to create a log. I don't have access to the application source code in order to modify the SQL statements made, I do have access to the SQLite database. Can I do this with triggers? If so can somebody provide a short example.

  First, I am SO sorry if the answer is out there. I've looked and looked and feel this is such a simple thing that it should be obvious. I'm wanting to make sure only the person who added an event can modify it. Simple! I already have a datasource that has event_added_by as a data point. It is populating a FormView. • how to copy char * into a string and vice-versa

  If i pass a char * into a function. I want to then take that char * convert it to a std::string and once I get my result convert it back to char * from a std::string to show the result. I don't know how to do this for conversion ( I am not talking const char * but just char *) I am not sure how to manipulate the value of the pointer I send in. so steps i need to do take in a char * convert it into a string. take the result of that string and put it back in the form of a char * return the result such that the value should be available outside the function and not get destroyed. If possible can i see how it could be done via reference vs a pointer (whose address I pass in by value however I can still modify the value that pointer is pointing to. so even though the copy of the pointer address in the function gets destroyed i still see the changed value outside. thanks!

  I am using asp.net 3.5 I have a license class containing 10 properties and not marked as serializable. I have to log property changes to the database. License is an entity class,and it is not in my scope to modify it. So I cannot mark it as serializabel neither i can use IpropertyChanged Interface. • Proper permission and directoy location for Git Version Control

  I am using Git Version Control on an remote server and I have set up a repository that multiple people will be using to push/fetch from. I have put the repo under /srv/subdir/git/.git I have been experiencing problem after problem it seems like. a) Is this location suitable for handling a project that will need to be accessed/modified by multiple developers and a designer? Or is there a better location? b)Do I need to modify the permissions on the subdir/ and git/ directories in order to allow remote access? If I do what is the appropriate permissions I should allow? I know this is a faily long request/question, but unfortunately like many other topics with well covered documentation, documentation does not always cover best practices. I would appreciate anybodies advice and suggestions? Thanks

• Scanning FedEx labels into a visual basic program

  I have a program that has tracking numbers entered into it and it stores them in a database and i would like to add a scanner to the mix. The scanner is acting like a keyboard and scannes just fine, the problem is scanning a FedEx number gives a 32 digit number and i am only iterested in the tracking number portion of it. I saw an example on the web for an excel macro and tried to modify it but it doesnt seem to work. Is there something i could do to just get the 12 digit number? This is what it looks like so far. • Using WCF to expose underlying process

  I have a server application that spins up and monitors about 8 separate processes that gather data from different systems. The server app then runs some calculations over the aggregated data and stores it in a db. Simple stuff. I now have a requirement to modify the process so that it no longer saves data to the db but rather exposes it directly to clients via WCF. That's cool, I've used WCF a fair bit but I'm struggling a little with it for some reason. Basically my plan is to HOST the WCF service in my application and have calls redirect into the internals of my existing application but I can figure out how to do that without getting the WCF class to encapsulate the existing app. I want the service to inside my current app, not become it. Any suggestions?

The problem is that I don't know the ID and I have some problems with these DIVs if I try to display them more that once. So, the idea is to modify the DIV id each time I'd like to display them. But I do not undersatnd the meaning of config.mk here. Do you know which kind of "build" structure (what is the right name for this concept?) is it, and where can i find more information about this? I've tried following: SELECT u.*, group_concat(r.Name separator ',') as Roles FROM User u LEFT JOIN User_Role ur ON ur.User=u.ID LEFT JOIN Role r ON ur.Role=r.ID GROUP BY u.ID; However, this works for an user with some defined roles. Users without role aren't returned. How can I modify the statement, to return me User with empty string in Roles column when User doesn't have any Role? Explanation: I'm passing the SQL data directly to a grid, which then formats itself, and it is easier for me to create slow and complicated view, than to format it in my code. I'm using MySQL

• Core Data and iTunes File Sharing - Move/hide the .sqlite file on app update?

  I have an iPad app that uses Core Data for data storage. I would like to enable file sharing in iTunes and I don't really want the users to be able to delete or modify the .sqlite file. Can I move the file to a different, hidden directory? Alternatively, could the file be made read-only? I wouldn't mind users having access to the file as long as it couldn't be changed. I suspect there is a trivial solution that is escaping me at the moment.

  I got this class class CWebBrowser2 : public CWnd And i want to override OnClose What i have done so far is in the header file I added void OnClose(); and in the .cpp file i added void CWebBrowser2::OnClose () { int i=0; i++; } But the OnClose is never called. Then I tried to to modify the header file to afx_msg void OnClose(); DECLARE_MESSAGE_MAP() And added this to the .cpp file BEGIN_MESSAGE_MAP(CWebBrowser2, CWnd) //{{AFX_MSG_MAP(CBrowserDlg) ON_WM_CLOSE() //}}AFX_MSG_MAP END_MESSAGE_MAP() But still OnClose is never called. I have tried to Change to OnClose to OnDestroy but that isnt called either. any ideas on what Im doing wrong?
