GlassFish Extension for Oracle JDeveloper

We just release a new version of Oracle JDeveloper - 11.1.2.3. One new feature here is built-in support for GlassFish. This include the ability to create an "application server" connection to GlassFish and then deploy to that server with one click from inside JDeveloper. You can use this for deploying Oracle ADF Essentials application on Glassfish, but you can also use it to deploy any Java EE application you build in JDeveloper on GlassFish. However, if you are planning to work with GlassFish and JDeveloper on a more regular basis as your development server, then you might find my new extension useful. The new extension allows you to start and stop an external GlassFish instance, as well as start it in debug mode (which will allow JDeveloper to remotely debug your application as it runs on the server. I also added a button that will invoke the web admin console of Glassfish. How to Generate XBRL from Oracle's Applications

I've been getting quite a few emails asking how Oracle supports XBRL. As of June 2011, all public US companies were required to produce XBRL-based financial statements to the SEC. The latest XBRL 2.1 specifications are supported by Oracle Hyperion Disclosure Management, which supports the XBRL tagging of financial statements as well as the disclosures and footnotes within your 10K and 10Q filings. Because many of our customers use Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) for their consolidation needs, they simply generate XBRL statements from their consolidated financial results. Click here to watch a 3 min demo about this cool tool. Question: What if you don't use Hyperion Financial Management, and you only use E-Business Suite General Ledger or PeopleSoft General Ledger? Answer: No problem, all you need is Hyperion Disclosure Management to generate XBRL from your general ledger. Here are the steps: Upload the XBRL taxonomy from the SEC or XBRL website into Hyperion Disclosure Management. Publish your financial statements out of general ledger to Excel. Instructor Insight: Dealing with Columns in Oracle JD Edwards Enterprise One Tools Release 9.1

Oracle JD Edwards Enterprise One Tools Release 9.1 has many new features that will help end users be more efficient in their daily jobs. For example, hiding grid columns is now as easy as a left-mouse click. In earlier releases, users could click on the ‘Customize Grid’ link but still had to do several more clicks to hide or show a column . The following example shows how easy this new feature is to use. First, right-mouse click on the column you want to hide; for example the ‘Long Address’ column. The column is now hidden. Second, right-mouse over on any of the columns to show the ‘Unhide’ option. After you select ‘Unhide’, the hidden column is shown. You can then select the column to show, or unhide, the column. This new feature and others are covered in the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne System Administration Rel 9.x course, which has been updated to reflect the new release. How To Check If a Transaction Related to Oracle Asset Tracking Has Been Accounted in SLA

In Oracle Asset Tracking (OAT), we often see situations where a pending transaction has failed to be processed by the OAT programs. Typical situations can be: a pending transaction errors with "Unable to derive accounts from sub ledger accounting for the material transaction" a transaction is not picked by OAT programs. The Create Accounting program log file will show error messages and possible corrective actions to solve the error. But as this is usually a scheduled program, often any errors that are reported are missed by users. To aid OAT users to identify if a transaction has failed and accounting has not been created, we have now created a SQL script which can be run for any pending transaction: How To Check If a Transaction Related to Oracle Asset Tracking Has Been Accounted in SLA ? (Doc ID 1673414.1)Using the script in this note, the user can pass the material transaction ID for the related transaction and the script will check if SLA accounting entries have been created for this specific transaction or not.If the SLA accounting entries have not been created, the script will prompt the user to run Create Accounting program. After Create Accounting has been run, the user can run the script again to confirm that accounting has been created.

You can create and configure multiple dashboards as needed to monitor the status and volume metrics for the endpoints you have defined. The Dashboards reflects changes that occur in the runtime repository, such as purging runtime instance data, new messages processed, and new error messages. You can display data for various time periods, and you can manually refresh the data in real time or set the dashboard to automatically refresh at set intervals.Dashboard shows the following information: Status: The current status of the endpoint, such as Running, Idle, Disabled, or Errors. Messages Sent: The number of messages sent by the endpoint in the specified time period. Messages Received: The number of messages received by the endpoint in the specified time period. Errors: The number of messages with errors for the endpoint in the given time period. Last Sent: The date and time the last message was sent from the endpoint. Last Received: The date and time the last message was received from the endpoint. Last Error: The date and time of the last error for the endpoint. It's great to finally have the Oracle ADF Mobile solution out there. If you are not familiar with ADF Mobile - it basically lets you build applications that run on iOS and Android devices using the concepts you already know - components based UI constructions (same idea as JSF), taskflows, data controls, Java and of course JDeveloper. I created one demo that shows how to build an on-device application that gets data from local Java files (that run on the device - yes we do Java on iOS too) - you can see it here. Problem with importing an mdf created with SQL Server Express 2008 into SQL Server 2005

The question is probably extremely easy to resolve, but I need to resolve it because I need to carry on with my project. I am using SQL Server Express 2008 at home, and I've been working on an ASP.NET MVC app that stores my DB in an mdf file in the project's folder. The problem is that the SQL Server in the Uni labs is SQL Server 2005, and when I try to open the mdf file with the VS Server Explorer,It says that the version of the mdf file is more than the server can accept. The only option that comes to my mind is exporting the DB as an sql file, just like I've done it thousand times with phpmyadmin. the thing is that the SQL Management Studio Express is not the most usable tool in the world, and for some strange reason all the articles I could find in Google were irrelevant. Please, help.

Visual C# Express 2010 Beta 2 install fails [closed]

I'm trying to install Microsoft Visual C# Express 2010 Beta 2 on my machine but it's not working. It blazes through what should be a 150 MB download then fails installing the very first item after about 5 seconds. I had VS 2010 Beta 1 installed but removed it beforehand. Any tips for installing it right? Login to SQL Server Express via development environment (VS2010)

Seems like I'm missing something simple, but my attempts to connect to SQL Server Express have failed. I feel like I need to add privileges for my account but I'm not sure where to do it. Dev Env: VS 2010 (Web) SQL: Sql Server Express 2008 OS: XP Trying to open a connection to database returns: Cannot open database "|DataDirectory|DropData.mdf" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'devel.' I created the database using the interface in VS 2010 (Add new item - DB File) but my ASP.Net class only covered design-time access and not access in code, so I'm not familiar with what to do. I created a user (Devel) using SQL Server Management Studio to avoid connecting as SA, but couldn't figure out how to give any SQL-level access rights to this account. Any ideas? Thanks, Cameron

I just installed 'Visual C# 2008 Express Edition' and 'Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition' on my Vista machine. Previously I have been running these in Win XP. When launching the software, starting a new project and trying to build it I get warnings like "The referenced component 'System' could not be found."; one row for each namespace used. I have .NET Framework 3.5 installed and are able to browse through the tabs in 'Add reference', but I cannot make it work. (A re-install did not help.) Is there an easy fix?

Installed the latest Filter Pack 2.0 Exec sp_fulltext_service 'load_os_resources', 1 Exec sys.sp_help_fulltext_system_components 'all' (NOTE: .DOCX is not shown as a filter) Building the full-text catalog fails to identify any key words I initially thought there might be a conflict between x86 SQL Express and x64 Filter Pack on my Windows 7 machine, but I just tried it with everything x86 in a Windows XP virtual machine and got the same result.

Run Sql*Plus commands on Application Express

Hi, I am new to PL/SQL, I'm trying to execute the commands that I learned at the course. VARIABLE area NUMBER DECLARE radius NUMBER(2) := &s_radius; pi CONSTANT NUMBER := 3.14; BEGIN :area := pi * radius * radius; END; I understand that I can run this using SqlPlus, but I remember my teacher was running this from the web browser using Application Express. I try to run the same commands there, at HOME SQLSQL Commands, but I keep getting the error "ORA-00900: invalid SQL statement" . Can you help me run it in Application Express or point me to a way where I can use an editor to run these course exercises? Thanks!

SQL Express as a main DB

Hi everyone, Does anyone out there use SQL Express 2008 R2 in a production environment? I am looking at hosting a Windows VPS as a server for a client software product I have developed. Clients connect to the server, send their data to a service running on the server, and the service updates the database. I'm trying to keep running costs down, and whilst I have a license for SQL Developer I obviously can't use this in a production environment. Would it be wise/possible to use SQL Express 2008, and if so why/why not? Thanks, JD
