• Django "Page not found" error page shows only one of two expected urls

  I'm working with Django, admittedly for the first time doing anything real. The URL config looks like the following: urlpatterns = patterns('my_site.core_prototype.views', (r'^newpost/$', 'newPost'), (r'^$', 'NewPostAndDisplayList'), # capture nothing... #more here... - perhaps the perma-links? ) This is in an app's url.py which is loaded from the project's url.py via: urlpatterns = patterns('', # only app for now. (r'^$', include('my_site.core_prototype.urls')), ) The problem is, when I receive a 404 attempting to utilize newpost, the error page only shows the ^$ -- it seems to ignore the newpost pattern... I'm sure the solution is probably stupid-simple but right now I'm missing it. Can someone help get me on the right track...

• Changing expiry on ASP.NET's Session State cookie

  I'm using ASP.NET Session State to keep track of logged in users on my site. However, one problem I'm running into is that by default ASP.NET session cookies are set to expire when the browser closes. I've tried setting my own ASP.NET_SessionId cookie and modifying the cookie's expiry using something similar to the following code: Response.Cookies["ASP.NET_SessionId"].Expires = DateTime.Now.AddMonths(1); None of these approaches work, they all set a second cookie with the same name. Is there a way of changing the session cookie's expiry?

• Get Process ID of Program Started with C# Process.Start

  Thanks in advance of all of your help! I am currently developing a program in C# 2010 that launches PLink (Putty) to create a SSH Tunnel. I am trying to make the program able to keep track of each tunnel that is open so a user may terminate those instances that are no longer needed. I am currently using System.Diagnostics.Process.Start to run PLink (currently Putty being used). I need to determine the PID of each plink program when it is launched so a user can terminate it at will. Question is how to do that and am I using the right .Net name space or is there something better?   I got dpm($form) working. Nice! This is much better way to view data. I am still trying to figure out where stuff is coming from eg: location longitude & latitude. The word 'longitude' is referenced in 20 different places. I thought this was a likely place to isolate text box for this input field. dpm($form['#field_info']['field_store_latitude']['location_settings']['form']['fields']); Any tips on how to track down individual input elements?

  I've been using this code to create my UIWindow UIMyWindow* win = [[UIMyWindow alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]]; UIMyWindow isn't anything special it just has a pointer to a C++ class that does some wrapping of ObjectiveC. Recently my application start crashing after adding some line of code that doesn't have to do anything with the error. The line of code that I added is just allocating a C++ object but the program execution never reaches this line. Interesting enough my code works in Release. My only guess is that I made some memory corruption on a completely different place. My questions are: What type of memory corruption that can be? And is there some good practices to track them down?

  I am using a Repeater which contains a placeholder. The placeholder is bound to my database and each ItemTemplate contains 1-6 radiobuttons depending on what the database returns. • What interprocess locking calls should I monitor?

  I'm monitoring a process with strace/ltrace in the hope to find and intercept a call that checks, and potentially activates some kind of globally shared lock. While I've dealt with and read about several forms of interprocess locking on Linux before, I'm drawing a blank on what to calls to look for. Currently my only suspect is futex() which comes up very early on in the process' execution. Update0 There is some confusion about what I'm after. I'm monitoring an existing process for calls to persistent interprocess memory or equivalent. I'd like to know what system and library calls to look for. I have no intention call these myself, so naturally futex() will come up, I'm sure many libraries will implement their locking calls in terms of this, etc. Update1 I'd like a list of function names or a link to documentation, that I should monitor at the ltrace and strace levels (and specifying which). Any other good advice about how to track and locate the global lock in mind would be great.

• "Anagram solver" based on statistics rather than a dictionary/table?

  My problem is conceptually similar to solving anagrams, except I can't just use a dictionary lookup. I am trying to find plausible words rather than real words. I have created an N-gram model (for now, N=2) based on the letters in a bunch of text. Now, given a random sequence of letters, I would like to permute them into the most likely sequence according to the transition probabilities. I thought I would need the Viterbi algorithm when I started this, but as I look deeper, the Viterbi algorithm optimizes a sequence of hidden random variables based on the observed output. I am trying to optimize the output sequence. Is there a well-known algorithm for this that I can read about? Or am I on the right track with Viterbi and I'm just not seeing how to apply it?

The same WPF project, debug mode, two computers: A -- when exception occurrs the caret is placed at the point of exception B -- when the exception occurrs, correct exception is placed but always caret is placed at "win.ShowDialog()" in App.xaml.cs -- this is main entry for showing & running my application, in such case it is very tiresome to track down where the exception occurred What kind of settings control such behaviour? Of course I would like to switch B, so when exception hits I would be place at the point of exception, not at the main entry.

  I've got a Windows DLL that I wrote, written in C/C++ (all exported functions are 'C'). The DLL works fine for me in VC++. I've given the DLL to another company who do all their development in VB. They seem to be having a problem linking to the functions. I haven't used VB in ten years and I don't even have it installed. What could be the problem? I've declared all my public functions as follows: define MYDCC_API __declspec(dllexport) MYDCCL_API unsigned long MYDCC_GetVer( void); . . . Any ideas? Finally got back to this today and have it working.   Dear All, I recently started using Mac OS X for a flex/actionscript project and having a problem with flash player debugger plugin for the browsers: OSX: 10.6.3 Browsers I tried: firefox, safari and chrome Flashplayer debug "Flash Player 10 Plugin content debugger (Intel-based Macs) Whenever I open a page containing a flash content, my browser crashes due to flash player plugin's crash. I checked the version of my flash player debug plugin with http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html and as the version checker is written in flash, my browser crashes a few seconds later. • Timeout with GAE Java

  Hi, I am having some issues with an app I have deployed on GAE. Specifically, I am intermittently running into the DeadlineExceededException where the server is not responding within the 30 seconds required. What is odd is that the code is not overly complex, it should run in milliseconds. My guess is that the delay is in dealing with the persistence manager and accessing the datastore. 2 questions: 1) What is the best way to track where all of the CPU time on the server is being used up? Log files do not seem helpful and to make things more complicated the code runs very fast when I am running it locally 2) Any tips / best practices in dealing with the 30 second exception? What are the biggest drivers of this? Datastore? HTTP requests / responses? Thanks

• Generating Running Sum of Ratings in SQL

  I have a rating table. It boils down to: rating_value created +2 april 3rd -5 april 20th So, every time someone gets rated, I track that rating event in the database. I want to generate a rating history/time graph where the rating is the sum of all ratings up to that point in time on a graph. I.E. A person's rating on April 5th might be select sum(rating_value) from ratings where created <= april 5th The only problem with this approach is I have to run this day by day across the interval I'm interested in. Is there some trick to generating a running total using this sort of data? Otherwise, I'm thinking the best approach is to create a denormalized "rating history" table alongside the individual ratings.

• Generating changelogs from commit-comments - bad idea?

  I work for a small company (<10 developers) where we use Svn and to some extent Git. We have no release system implemented. We don't tag our applications with a release numbers so as you can imagine, we don't keep track of changes between releases very well. With this in mind I've been thinking about generating changelogs from the commit-comments. It doesn't have to be an awful idea if you implement guidelines for how to write comments. Or am I fooling myself thinking that colleagues will follow these guidelines? Most of them don't bother adding comments today but I'm hoping that will change if they become aware of how to formulate themselves and that you don't have to comment on every single commit. Or would we it be more wise to gather information from our bug/project managing software and write the changelogs manually (which unfortunately is something nobody wants to do)?

  Hi, quick question. Is there any way to (easily) retrieve the parent layout of a widget in Qt? PS: QObject::parent() won't work, for logical reasons. EDIT: I'm positive the widget has a parent layout, because I added it to a layout earlier in the code. Now, I have many other layouts in the window and while it is possible for me to keep track of them, I just want to know if there is an easy and clean way to get the parent layout. EDIT2: Sorry, "easy and clean" was probably not the best way of putting. I meant using the Qt API. • Code in Global.asax prevents webpage from loading

  I've made a static class to hold a number of configuration values (and also swap these values out in unit tests). If I initialise it in the Global.asax, the code runs correctly but the page doesn't load at all, and trying to navigate to a specific page fails. I can't initialise the values in a constructor or inline on the field declarations, because I need to be able to swap the values out in unit tests before the web.config is interrogated. Basically, putting the one line "ConfigClass.SetValues()" in the Global.asax prevents the app from loading correctly (although, as I say, it runs the code fine) and removing it again makes the app load properly - but without the class values initialised. As an aside, I'm sure I had this working correctly and being initialised in the Global.asax yesterday. I'm positive I didn't take any action to change or break it... Does anyone have advice on how I might track down what's going on here? Was I mistaken that it worked before (always possible) and that I need to go back and redesign something?

• Data model for timesheet to task and/or timesheet to project?

  Let's say I want to make a simple project tracking system. A manager can create a project. Then he can create tasks for that project. Team members can record the hours they work for each task or for the project as a whole. Is the following design for the t_timesheet table a good idea? timesheet_id - primary key, autoincrement project_id - not null, foreign key constraint to t_project task_id - nullable, foreign key constraint to t_task user_id - not null, foreign key constraint to t_user hours - decimal Or should I do something like this: timesheet_id - primary key, autoincrement task_id - not null, foreign key constraint to t_task user_id - not null, foreign key constraint to t_user hours - decimal In the second option, I intend to always have a record in t_task labelled "miscellaneous items" with a foreign key to the relevant t_project record. Then I'll be able to track all hours for a project that aren't for any particular task. Are any of the ideas above good? What would be better?

The intent is to identify the changeset of work performed in B now in A to more quickly track down issues. A squash commit would obviously and conveniently pack the entire changeset in one commit for easy reference, but the drawbacks (such as loss of information and individual attributability) make this option undesirable for us. • Does CAS Support Application Level Impersonation?

  I have a PHP application that is successfully authenticating against a CAS server. One of the features supported by the application is impersonation; a user with the appropriate privileges can impersonate another of the application. Generally, this isn't a problem because the app itself can keep track of who the user is impersonating and manage privileges (which are based on username). A new requirement has come up, though, that requires the original app to include, via an iframe, content from a second PHP app that is also CAS-enabled. Somehow, I need for the second app to know whether impersonation is happening in the first. I don't want to pass usernames around for security reasons, so I'm wondering whether I can offload the responsibility for handling impersonation to the CAS server which is shared by both apps.   Hey guys, We have an Ivy release procedure where resolve our dependancies using Ivy pre-tagging which means that we can pull in changes for releases by other members of the team that we are not expecting We want to generate reports and track changes to dependancies between releases but there doesn't seem to be an easy way of doing this without a significant effort. We also want to generate a JIRA list of all changes not only in the main project but in dependancies that we own. This is an extension of the problem above. Otherwise we simply don't know what we are releasing - any ideas?!

  I have a List of Dictionaries that have keys of type string and values that are ints. Many of the dictionaries have the same keys in them but not all of them. So my question is: using LINQ how would I find the maximum value associated with each distinct key across all of the dictionaries?   I have an emergent bug that I've got to track down tomorrow. I know a previous hg revision which was good so I'm thinking about using hg bisect. However, I'm on Windows and don't want to get into DOS scripting. Ideally, I'd be able to write a Python unit test and have hg bisect use that.   I think there are a few similar questions that seem to suggest using app_data in the signed request (http://developers.facebook.com/docs/authentication/signed_request/) but I'm not sure if it will be possible to do what I am trying to achieve with it as I've never used it before. If I have my Facebook 'Tab' Url as follows: http://www.facebook.com/pages/PAGE_TITLE/PAGE_ID?sk=app_APP_ID What I want to do is add an extra parameter on the end as follows: &WT.mc_id=email-uk-8014 The reason for this is for tracking purposes and links will be sent out of the form http://www.facebook.com/pages/PAGE_TITLE/PAGE_ID?sk=app_APP_ID&WT.mc_id=email-uk-8014 and the extra parameter will allow us to track the campaign id. As you can see I have no way of knowing the value of the parameter beforehand as it depends on the link clicked by the user so is it possible to somehow get the value of the WT.mc_id parameter inside my iframe app?
