  • Open a new browser window from embeded Internet Explorer

    I am working on a Windows desktop app (C++) that has an embedded Internet Explorer page. I'm working on the html page that is displayed in the There is not a back button control, so one of the requests is that links clicked on in the page should open the link in a browser window. It can open the link in the users default browser or in IE. Is this possible? I realize that this is not possible because javascript is in a sandbox and cannot touch outside applications. I'm thinking there might be a way because it is using the IE. I have tried the two methods that have worked for me in the past. Using jquery, I've tried these two approaches, but neither work in the app. They both work fine in normal browsers. Using target="_blank" $( "a" ).attr( "target", "_blank" ); The other is using window.open: $( "a" ).click( function() { window.open( $( this ).attr( "href" ) ); } ); I'm afraid that writing windows desktop applications is outside my area of expertise, so I cannot give more information regarding that side of the issue.

  • TFS 2012 fresh install on fresh Windows Server 2008 warning that reporting services are not installed

    I am attempting to evaluate TFS 2012 for our organization but cannot seem to get past the first step of configuring the server using the "Standard Single Server" configuration wizard. In particular, in the service account selection screen, I am warned that: Reporting services are not installed on this computer. You need to install Reporting Services to complete TFS installation with this wizard. This is disheartening because the way I understand it, this should have been installed with the default TFS installation (in fact, no installation options are even provided) and this is a fresh and up-to-date Windows Server 2008 VM. I know I could install SQL Server 2008 or 2012 from MSDN, but shouldn't this work "out of the box?" I'd really rather use the default, small, integrated version of SQL Server that comes with TFS 2012 rather than rolling my own. If it matters, this server is joined to a domain and I am running TFS installation wizard as a domain administrator.

    Hi all, Data is stored in the database table with the field document type and document id. And displayed in the scrollwindow, scrollwindow is editable. Data displayed like this: In scrollwindow dropdown items are quote, order, invoice etc. And suppose for Quote type document id is QTE100, and for order is ORD100 etc. In this format data is displayed in the scrollwindow. Here my query is at run time when user change the document type say for Quote to Order warning message should display like “This range is not valid”. And since the scrollwindow editable when user select any new document type from dropdown list system should allow to add that new document type and should not display any message. Pls somebody help me how can I achieve this???pls………pls…......pls For this I have written this code in dropdown document change event. Document Type Site_Scroll Document Type_CHG: warning "The range entered isn't valid."; clear window 'Document Type Site_Scroll'; fill window 'Document Type Site_Scroll' table sop_site_line_temp; But whenever I am changing any document from existing one getting the warning message like “This range is not valid” this is expected, but after changing when the window is filled again by temp table focus is setting to document type dropdown list. One more thing whenever I am going to select any new document type from document type I am getting the same warning message which is not expected, system should allow user to select new document type without giving any warning message. Pls….somebody give me some idea or pls modify my code….

But they return 0. I guess that is because the layout isn't rendered yet. Does anyone have a clue, how can I control the size of the popup window without needing to use absolute pixel numbers?

    We're building a Win Mobile 6 warehouse app which needs to update our server based corporate DB. We've got a C# business layer that sits on our app server and we'd really like our warehouse app to go through this. We also like MS Synch Services. Is there a way to combine the two ie can we use sync services but get them to go through our business layer ? Has anyone done this and got an example I can follow ?     Hello everyone ! I'm doing my first C++ - Qt4 application and I'm having some trouble "connecting" my different uis. I have a main window with several buttons and when I click on one, I want another window to open. The MyMainWindowClass inherits from QMainWindow and the other from QWidget.   • Interface(s) inheriting other interface(s) in WCF services.

    In my solution there's a few WCF services, each of them implementing it's own callback interface. Let's say they are called: Subscribe1, with ISubscribe1 and ICallback1, etc. It happens there are a few methods shared among ICallbacks, so I made a following interface: interface ICallback { [OperationContract] CommonlyUsedMethod(); } and i inherited it in all: ICallback1 : ICallback, ICallback2 : ICallback, etc. And deleted the CommonlyUsedMethod() from all callback interfaces. Now, on the service-side code, everything compiles fine and services can start working as usual. But, when I updated the service references for the client, CommonlyUsedMethod() dissapeared from the reference.cs file (the ISubscribeCallback part), and could no longer be used to send data to back to the client.

    Hi, I'm working on deploying a web application written in C# with ASP.Net Application services databases. The application runs fine on the development machine. Windows Server 2003 has been built to test the application. The database has been scripted across using MS SQL Server GUI. ASP.Net application services tables were created using an utility. The connection strings are stored in the web.config and connectionStrings.config. The application connects to the database successfully, but then it times out after 10 seconds.

  • Can you open a form or window in an Outlook Addin (VSTO)

    Hi, I am new to VSTO programming. I have created a basic addin for Outlook 2007 that monitors a folder containing XML text files which it opens and then sends them as an email, then deletes them. this all works fine. I want the user to be able to configure certain settings for the way the addin/program will operate, such as the folder that it will monitor, and other things. The logical way to do this is to create a menu item in the addin (which I have also done) that opens a windows form (or XAML window) that allows them to enter the parameters. In my addin I added a new item Windows Form, which worked, and the designer opened. However, in my addin code I cannot open the form. The Show() method normally associated with form objects is not available. Is this simply something you cannot do, or am I just doing it the wrong way? I have read about Outlook form regions, but these seemed to be attached to outlook items such as a new email, task, appointment etc... there doesnt seem to be a way to create a form region that can be opened in the main window of Outlook. Ideally, I would like to go with my original method of opening a new window from a menu item, but if this isnt possible I would like to hear other solutions. Thanks, Will.

    As an example, assume the following simple model: public class Order { public List<LineItem> LineItems { get; set; } public List<Fee> Fees { get; set; } } public class LineItem { } public class Fee { } With RIA Services, if I want to retrieve an Order and include all of it's line items in the same network call, I can statically place an [Include] attribute on the above LineItems collection. This works great for a single scenario, but what happens when I need multiple "include strategies"? For instance, one situation might call for including the Fees collection and NOT the LineItems collection. Is there any way with RIA Services to control what's included at runtime without redefining your model and/or creating dtos with the attributes statically placed for each use-case?

    I've got a ResourceDictionary file that contains a bunch of resources to define elements of my UI. Including one for my DialogWindows, which will just be Windows. <Style x:Key="DialogWindow" TargetType="{x:Type Window}" > <Setter Property="OverridesDefaultStyle" Value="True"/> <Setter Property="WindowStyle" Value="None" /> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type Window}"> <Grid Background="{StaticResource SunkenBackground}"> <StackPanel Margin="20,20,20,20" Background="{StaticResource SunkenBackground}"> <AdornerDecorator> <ContentPresenter/> </AdornerDecorator> </StackPanel> </Grid> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> As you can see every DialogWindow should have a grid and a stackpanel, and then the content goes inside there. I've added the file to my App.xaml, and on one of my dialog windows I added Style="{StaticResource DialogWindow}". So the question is: Now that I have my Template set up for a window, and things are actually styled properly once I've added the StaticResource, what tags do I use to wrap my content in inside of my DialogWindow? I tried wrapping them inside Grid, but that just breaks the layout. If I wrap them inside a StackPanel, they look correct, but then I've got 2 StackPanels and a Grid, when if I didn't include the template I could just have 1 StackPanel and a Grid (I realize I could just take the stackpanel out of the template and do it for every DialogWindow, but that doesn't seem like a good solution).     an ActiveX control generated by Visual Basic 6, very old stuff, it has a couple of methods and one event. now I have to use the control in C++, visual studio 2008, but I don't like to generate a form/dialog/window as constainer. I add some MFC class From ActiveX Control. Now the wrap class has all the methods defined in the ActiveX control. I definitely need add event handler to take care of the event fired by ActiveX control. With a form/dialgue/window, it could be done by below BEGIN_EVENTSINK_MAP ON_EVENT. My questions are 1. how to add the event handler without a form/dialgue/window. Is this impossible? 2. Could I manually add constructor in the ActiveX control wrap class, so I could use new operator to get an instance on the heap? Thanks Add the Event Sinks Map near the start of the definition (.cpp) file. The BEGIN_EVENTSINK_MAP macro takes the container's Class name, then the base class name as parameters. The container's class name is used again in the AFX_EVENTSINK_MAP macro and the ON_EVENT macro.

  • Sync services not actually syncing

    I'm attempting to sync a SQL Server CE 3.5 database with a SQL Server 2008 database using MS Sync Services. I am using VS 2008. I created a Local Database Cache, connected it with SQL Server 2008 and picked the tables I wanted to sync. I selected SQL Server Tracking. It modified the database for change tracking and created a local copy (SDF) of the data. I need two way syncing so I created a partial class for the sync agent and added code into the OnInitialized() to set the SyncDirection for the tables to Bidirectional. I've walked through with the debugger and this code runs. Then I created another partial class for cache server sync provider and added an event handler into the OnInitialized() to hook into the ApplyChangeFailed event. This code also works OK - my code runs when there is a conflict. Finally, I manually made some changes to the server data to test syncing. I use this code to fire off a sync: var agent = new FSEMobileCacheSyncAgent(); var syncStats = agent.Synchronize(); syncStats seems to show the count of the # of changes I made on the server and shows that they were applied. However, when I open the local SDF file none of the changes are there. I basically followed the instructions I found here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc761546%28SQL.105%29.aspx and here: http://keithelder.net/blog/archive/2007/09/23/Sync-Services-for-SQL-Server-Compact-Edition-3.5-in-Visual.aspx It seems like this should "just work" at this point, but the changes made on the server aren't in the local SDF file. I guess I'm missing something but I'm just not seeing it right now. I thought this might be because I appeared to be using version 1 of Sync Services so I removed the references to Microsoft.Synchronization.* assemblies, installed the Sync framework 2.0 and added the new version of the assemblies to the project. That hasn't made any difference. Ideas? Edit: I wanted to enable tracing to see if I could track this down but the only way to do that is through a WinForms app since it requires entries in the app.config file (my original project was a class library). I created a WinForms project and recreated everything and suddenly everything is working. So apparently this requires a WinForm project for some reason? This isn't really how I planned on using this - I had hoped to kick off syncing through another non-.NET application and provide the UI there so the experience was a bit more seemless to the end user. If I can't do that, that's OK, but I'd really like to know if/how to make this work as a class library project instead.

  • Mac OS X Services: enable without user interaction?

    I wrote a simple Mac 'Service' for Finder, that executes a command. Basically: this adds a ContextMenu in Finder. If I right-click a file in Finder, a menu item pops up. If the user clicks it, it executes my script. (kind of like 'Send to Bluetooth device, ...') In OS X Leopard (10.5) and earlier, all services are enabled. In 10.6 (Snow Leopard), Apple changed the behavior, services now have preferences, and can be enabled or disabled by the user. (which is a good thing) However, I wrote the service, but there seems to be no way to enable it automatically (in our installer). I tried doing it with Applescript, going to the System Preferences and ticking the checkbox that way, but it requires some accessibility features to be turned on. (off by default). Is it possible? If so, how? Or do I need something else to provide Context Menus in Finder.

It seems like many api services such as last.fm or google search don't exist or are no longer free. Possible examples of what I am looking for information about a given ip address mapping api's information about books, movies, music information about places, businesses, attractions meteorological, financial or other scientific data shopping, products I would appreciate any suggestions you may have about interesting data freely available through the web. thanks
