  • Same object in different nib files?

    View1 object, which is UIViewController subclass is the same object as File's Owner of View1 nib. So I should manually set the class in both places, one in MainWindow and another in View1 nib files? This sound artificial to me... Either I'm doing something wrong or there has to be better way.

    Can anyone recomend me a simple web UI prototyping tool, so I could quicky prototype the look of a my web site. I have tried to use MS Visio for this, but found it very "user un-friendly". What I really need is to be able quicky sketch the layout of the page, put some links, images and buttons on in, play a little bit with a colors (CSS), and it would be great it this tool could support navigation between the pages - but it is not essential. I would rather consider a low-cost or an open-source solution, since I am not a web designer and not going to use that tool on a daily basis.

  • How to perform an action when a remote (Http) file changed?

    Hi, I want to create a script that checks an URL and perform an action (download + unzip) when the "Last-Modified" header of the remote file changed. I thought about fetching the header with curl but then I have to store it somewhere for each file and perform a date comparison. Does anyone have a different idea using (mostly) standard unix tools? thanks

  • Correct way to textually report the remaining time on a long running process?

    So you have a long running process, perhaps with a progress bar, and you want a text estimate of the remaining time, eg: "5 minutes remaining" "30 seconds remaining" etc. If you don't actually want to report clock time (due to accuracy or resolution or update-rate issues) but want to stick to the text summary, what is the correct paradigm? Is "one minute" left displayed from 0 to 60 seconds? or from 1:00 to 1:59? Say there's 1:35 Left - is that "2 minutes remaining" or "1 minute remaining"? Do you just pare it down to "A few minutes left" when you're less than 3 minutes? What is the preferred (least user-frustrating) method?

  • How can I automate new system provisioning with scripts under Mac OS X 10.6?

    I've been working on this for days but simply cannot find the correct references to make it work. The idea is to have a script that will baseline newly purchased Macs that comes into the company with basic stuffs like set autologin to off, create a new admin user (for remote admins to access for support, set password to unlock screensaver and etc) . Sample list for baseline that admins have to do on each new machine: Click the Login Options button Set Automatic Login: OFF Check: Show the Restart, Sleep, and Shutdown buttons Uncheck: Show input menu in login window Uncheck: Show password hints Uncheck: Use voice over in the login window Check: Show fast user switching menu as Short Name (note: this is only part of a long list to do on each machine) I've managed to find some references to make some parts work. Like autologin can be unset with: defaults write /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences com.apple.userspref.DisableAutoLogin -bool TRUE and I've kinda found ways to muscle in a new user creation (including prompts) with AppleScript and shell commands. But generally its tough finding ways to do somewhat simple things like turn on password to get out of screensaver or to allow fast user switching. References are either too limited or just no where to be seen (e.g. I can unset autologin via cli but the very next setting on the system preference "show restart, sleep and shutdown buttons" is somewhere else and I can't find any command line to make it set) Does anyone have any ideas on a list, document, reference or anything of where each setting on the system resides so that I can be pointed to make it work? or maybe sample scripts for the above example...     I have to get certain count from files. The grep statement i am using is like this : counter_pstn=0 completed_count_pstn=0 rec=0 for rec in `(grep "merged" update_completed*.log | awk '{print $1}' | sed 's/ //g' | cut -d':' -f2)` do if [ $counter_pstn -eq 0 ] then completed_count_pstn=$rec else completed_count_pstn=$(($completed_count_pstn+$rec)) fi counter_pstn=$(($counter_pstn+1)) done echo "Completed Orders PSTN Primary " $completed_count_pstn But the log file contains data in this format : 2500 rows merged. 2500 rows merged. 2500 rows merged. 2500 rows merged.2500 rows merged. 2500 rows merged. 2500 rows merged. As a result , it is missing out the count of one merge(eg on line 4 of output).How do i modify the grep or use another function to get the count. NOTE that the 2500 number maybe for different logs. So we have to use "rows merged" pattern to get the count. i have tried -o ,-w grep options,but it is not working. Expected output from above data: 17500 Actual output showing : 15000

  • What is the best way for the application to refer to the user?

    Forgive my noobishness, first time poster on stackoverflow! I can have the application read: "view your messages" "view my messages" "edit your profile" "edit my profile" etc. and others like that. Is one of these more correct then the other? I suppose that I could use neither and just leave it without any pronoun, but I would rather not. The person grading is a real stickler for "grammar" in code. Any input would be appreciated!

  • Same script, working on a site, not working on the other!

    Hello, First of all I apologize in advance for this question, a bit off the rang of stackoverflow, but I've spend a day trying to solve that issue and I'm totally stuck. The issue: The search function of my script (php) works perfectly fine on one host but not on the other. If you search something here : edu-cafe.com, you'll get a result, just as it should be. However, try a search on this site, hosted somewhere else : code-reduc.com, exact same script, files and datable, and it just hang. I've asked both the host and the original programmer of the script to look at the issue but they can't seem to find an answer...   • Iphone SDK- How to insert a banner in my app

    I have a tableview that my app shows when it loads, I would like to somehow put a banner at the bottom that if connceted to the internet will check my server for any new image files and if there are it will replace the current one and if not it will just leave it. That way I can constantly display messages to my users - sort of like in Doodle Jump. How could I achieve this? Thanks
