• Make application automatically detect system language

  What should an application developed under a Linux System like Ubuntu do so as to automatically detect the system language? There are applications, like Liferea that automatically change their language to match the system's, without altering any preference of the program itself: Should this be the "default" behavior for all the programs? Should there be an option on the program so as to let the user choose the language nonetheless? Are all these translations coming along with the program itself? What if the user has set a system language not available in the translations of the program? Is this Ubuntu or most-linux-distros specific?

• Install Base Transaction Error Troubleshooting

  Oracle Installed Base is an item instance life cycle tracking application that facilitates enterprise-wide life cycle item management and tracking capability.In a typical process flow a sales order is created and shipped, this updates Inventory and creates a new item instance in Install Base (IB).  The Inventory update results in a record being placed in the SFM Event Queue.  If the record is successfully processed the IB tables are updated, if there is an error the record is placed in the csi_txn_errors table and the error needs to be resolved so that the IB instance can be created.It's extremely important to be proactive and monitor IB Transaction Errors regularly.  Errors cascade and can build up exponentially if not resolved. Due to this cascade effect, error records need to be considered as a whole and not individually; the root cause of any error needs to be resolved first and this may result in the subsequent errors resolving themselves. Install Base Transaction Error Diagnostic Program In the past the IBtxnerr.sql script was used to diagnose transaction errors, this is now replaced by an enhanced concurrent program version of the script. • String Conversion to Char for Java Game

  Is there someone who could help me achieve the following points on this problems? I can't seem to get it. I tried using toCharArray and Scanner to achieve this, but it doesn't work, nor do I know how to make this things possible for my word game. :( · Get a popular name of person, place, verse, saying or event from the user. This may have a single or multiple words in it. · Create a copy of this string to an array where each letter is replaced with a hyphen (-) and each space is replaced with an underscore (_). Symbols and numbers will remain shown. · The program then asks a letter from the user. If the letter is in the inputted string, then it should be shown on the array at the same position it is shown in the string. Meaning, the letter replaces the hyphen (-) at the correct position of the array. · The program again prompts for a letter from the user and replaces the hyphen (-) of the array if it exists on the inputted string. This will be repeatedly done until such time each hyphen (-) is replaced with the correct letter. · If the user inputs an invalid letter, that is, a letter that does not exist on the inputted string, then the program should inform the user. If this happens 3 times while there is still at least one hyphen on the array, then the program should inform the user that he lost the game and showing him the whole correct string. · If the user completes the game, meaning, all hyphens have been replaced with the correct letters; then the program should congratulate the user for a job well done.

• Typewriter Sounds

  Since I switched to Ubuntu 12.04 I'd only missed one thing. A program which could launch typewriter sounds while typing. For instance, in Windows I used this: http://www.colorpilot.com/soundpilot.html for a long time. I learned then that this writing program: http://gottcode.org/focuswriter/ had the sounds but only for the program itself. However, sometimes I'm writing an email, writing on the web or doing more complex writing tasks in LibreOffice - all places where these long missed typing sounds don't apply. Does any of you know of any plans in the community of the sound bit - typing sounds - as an independent program or applet to be fetched in the Ubuntu Software Center soon? The Rhythm Of Creative Writing would really be helped then! ;-)

• Kill .so file process

  I have a program, I cannot change the code. It calls some .so file's function, but don't delete the object in the end. When the owner of the program tries to update the program he kills it and send the update, but the .so file is in use so he can't update the file. It's on an AIX platform. Is it possible to force to kill the .so file? If I do a fuser -f on the file it returns nothing. Can I create another program to kill the program, is there any command to do that?

  xfce4-screenshooter is the standard screenshot program in XFCE on Xubuntu. How can I configure the settings about which format it saves the screenshot in and in which folder? I noticed, that my settings I made in shutter also affect the settings of xfce4-screenshooter (but not all). EDIT: The man page sais, there is an -o option to open it with an external program. How can I make this default? Then I could set there an external program, that automatically compresses the screenshot to an emailable size

• Multicast in Ubuntu

  Can some one please explain the steps required to configure a multicast in Ubuntu? I have a simple program taken from Internet. I get errors when I execute the client program. I get the error as: Opening datagram socket....OK. Setting SO_REUSEADDR...OK. Binding datagram socket...OK. Adding multicast group error: No such device: When I execute the server program I get the error as: Opening the datagram socket...OK. Setting local interface error: Cannot assign requested address I am using Ubuntu to run the program. I have two different laptops but connected via the same network. I am using wireless network to perform the above operation.

  I want to use the latest Opera browser, but v12 does not have opera-unite anymore. So, I would like to use a "portable" v11 Opera (v11 has unite). (By portable I mean a program with all files within a certain directory that can be put in any place on the hard drive or on an external drive, a program that can be started by running an executable file from the same directory, and which can be run separately of other installed versions of the same program.)

  Pre-note: This is not a problem I am having with Minecraft. All answers I can find seem to be Minecraft issues. Error: could not create the Java Virtual Machine. Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit. I get this error when I try to do something Java related. I cannot launch a .jar without this error coming up and when I try to install JDK, I get this error. This has been plauging me for a while and I was not able to research an answer so I thought I would ask it myself. EDIT: Windows 7 (x64) Dell Studio Laptop, 4GB RAM, external Radeon HD 6950 Graphics Card. I have tried uninstalling all JVMs and reinstalling but it didn't work, although I cannot remember how thorough I was so I may try again. • F# Application Entry Point

  Up to now I have been looking at F# for modular solutions, but have never considered writing an end to end application. Today I was wondering how one would even start to write an end to end application and realized that I didn’t even know where the entry point is for an F# application. After browsing MSDN a bit I got a basic example of a F# application with an entry point [<EntryPoint>] let main args = printfn "Arguments passed to function : %A" args // Return 0. This indicates success. 0 Pretty simple stuff… but what happens when you have a few modules in a program – so I created a F# project with two modules and a main module as illustrated in the image below… When I try to compile my program I get a build error… A function labeled with the 'EntryPointAttribute' attribute must be the last declaration in the last file in the compilation sequence, and can only be used when compiling to a .exe… What does this mean? After some more reading I discovered that the Program.fs needs to be the last file in the F# application – the order of the files in a F# solution are important. How do I move a source file up or down? I tried dragging the Program.fs file below ModuleB.fs but it wouldn’t allow me to. Then I thought to right click on a source file and got the following menu.   Wala… to move the source file to the bottom of the solution you can select the “Move Up” or “Move Down” option. Now that I got this right I decided to put some code in ModuleA & ModuleB and I have the start of a basic application structure. • Possible applications of algorithm devised for differentiating between structured vs random text

  I have written a program that can rapidly (within 5 sec on a 2GB RAM desktop, 2.33 Ghz CPU) differentiate between structured text (e.g english text) and random alphanumeric strings. It can also provide a probability score for the prediction. Are there any practical applications/uses of such a program. Note that the program is based on entropy models and does not have any dictionary comparisons in its workflow. Thanks in advance for your responses

• I want to be able to use the unity menu with Citrix full screen

  I use Citrix Reciever at work, with both XenApp and XenDesktop. Many times at the same time. Since the unity Menu stil apeirs on the top anyway, I'd like to be able to use it. Now I can see it, but it doesn't work.. I have to either tab me out, (double clicking the ALT first)opening another program first, or move the mouse to the left, opening another program from the unity menu from the left, BEFORE I can use the menu on the top.. (my menu on the left side is in autohide mode, so I actually like it :)) For example. I use spotify for lisening to music, it apeirs on the top menu, but it doesn't react when it click it.. I have to move the mouse to the left, open another program, then move to the top an ask it to show spofity. If I open spofify from the left menu, it hangs.. (since its hidden, and I have to ask it to be open, not reopen the hole program..) Or If I want to lock the screen, I have to open another program, (i.ex. nixnote) before I can lock it) since the unity menu is "on the top" anyways, I don't see the problem that it should be able to control such things..
