  • compact XSLT code to drop N number of tags if all are null.

    - by infant programmer
    This is my input xml: <root> <node1/> <node2/> <node3/> <node4/> <othertags/> </root> The output must be: <root> <othertags/> </root> if any of the 4 nodes isn't null then none of the tags must be dropped. example: <root> <node1/> <node2/> <node3/> <node4>sample_text</node4> <othertags/> </root> Then the output must be same as input xml. <root> <node1/> <node2/> <node3/> <node4>sample_text</node4> <othertags/> </root> This is the XSL code I have designed :: <xsl:template match="@*|node()"> <xsl:copy> <xsl:apply-templates select="@*|node()"/> </xsl:copy> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="/root/node1[.='' and ../node2/.='' and ../node3/.='' and ../node4/.=''] |/root/node2[.='' and ../node1/.='' and ../node3/.='' and ../node4/.=''] |/root/node3[.='' and ../node1/.='' and ../node2/.='' and ../node4/.=''] |/root/node4[.='' and ../node1/.='' and ../node2/.='' and ../node3/.='']"/> As you can see the code requires more effort and becomes more bulky as the number of nodes increase. Is there any alternative way to overcome this bottleneck?

  • Progressive enhancement of anchor tags to avoid onclick="return false;"

    - by Chris Beck
    Unobtrusive JS suggests that we don't have any onclick attributes in our HTML templates. <a href="/controller/foo/1">View Foo 1</a> A most basic progressive enhancement is to convert an that anchor tag to use XHR to retrieve a DOM fragment. So, I write JS to add an event listener for a."click" then make an XHR to a.href. Alas, the browser still wants to navigate to "/controller/foo". So, I write JS to dynamically inject a.onclick = "return false;". Still unobtrusive (I guess), but now I'm paying the the cost of an extra event handler. To avoid the cost of 2 event listeners, I could shove my function call into the onclick attribute <a href="/controller/foo/1" onclick="myXHRFcn(); return false;"> But that's grodo for all sorts of reasons. To make it more interesting, I might have 100 anchor tags that I want to enhance. A better pattern is a single listener on a parent node that relies on event bubbling. That's cool, but how do I short circuit the browser from navigating to the URL without this on every anchor node? onclick="return false;" Manipulating the href is not an option. It must stay intact so the context menu options to copy or open in new page work as expected.

  • Adding Variables to JavaScript in Joomla

    - by Vikram
    Hello friends! This is the script I am using to display an accordion in my Joomla site: <?php defined('JPATH_BASE') or die(); gantry_import('core.gantryfeature'); class GantryFeatureAccordion extends GantryFeature { var $_feature_name = 'accordion'; function init() { global $gantry; if ($this->get('enabled')) { $gantry->addScript('accordion.js'); $gantry->addInlineScript($this->_accordion()); } } function render($position="") { ob_start(); ?> <div id="accordion"> <dl> <?php foreach (glob("templates/rt_gantry_j15/features/accordion/*.php") as $filename) {include($filename);} ?> </dl> </div> <?php return ob_get_clean(); } function _accordion() { global $gantry; $js = " jQuery.noConflict(); (function($){ $(document).ready(function () { $('#accordion').easyAccordion({ slideNum: true, autoStart: true, slideInterval: 4000 }); }); })(jQuery); "; return $js; } } I want to call these three values in the templateDetails.XML file as a user input. slideNum: true, autoStart: true, slideInterval: 4000 Like this in the templateDetails.xml file: <param name="accordion" type="chain" label="ACCORDION" description="ACCORDION_DESC"> <param name="slideNum" type="text" default="true" label="Offset Y" class="text-short" /> <param name="autoStart" type="text" default="true" label="Offset Y" class="text-short" /> <param name="autoStart" type="text" default="4000" label="Offset Y" class="text-short" /> </param> How can I do so? What will be the exact syntax for the same. I am very new to programming ans specially to JavaScript. Kindly help.

  • ASP ListView - Eval() as formatted number, Bind() as unformatted?

    - by chucknelson
    I have an ASP ListView, and have a very simple requirement to display numbers as formatted w/ a comma (12,123), while they need to bind to the database without formatting (12123). I am using a standard setup - ListView with a datasource attached, using Bind(). I converted from some older code, so I'm not using ASP.NET controls, just form inputs...but I don't think it matters for this: <asp:SqlDataSource ID="MySqlDataSource" runat="server" ConnectionString='<%$ ConnectionStrings:ConnectionString1 %>' SelectCommand="SELECT NUMSTR FROM MY_TABLE WHERE ID = @ID" UpdateCommand= "UPDATE MY_TABLE SET NUMSTR = @NUMSTR WHERE ID = @ID"> </asp:SqlDataSource> <asp:ListView ID="MyListView" runat="server" DataSourceID="MySqlDataSource"> <LayoutTemplate> <div id="itemplaceholder" runat="server"></div> </LayoutTemplate> <ItemTemplate> <input type="text" name="NUMSTR" ID="NUMSTR" runat="server" value='<%#Bind("NUMSTR")%>' /> <asp:Button ID="UpdateButton" runat="server" Text="Update" Commandname="Update" /> </ItemTemplate> </asp:ListView> In the example above, NUMSTR is a number, but stored as a string in a SqlServer 2008 database. I'm also using the ItemTemplate as read and edit templates, to save on duplicate HTML. In the example, I only get the unformatted number. If I convert the field to an integer (via the SELECT) and use a format string like Bind("NUMSTR", "{0:###,###}"), it writes the formatted number to the database, and then fails when it tries to read it again (can't convert with the comma in there). Is there any elegant/simple solution to this? It's so easy to get the two-way binding going, and I would think there has to be a way to easily format things as well... Oh, and I'm trying to avoid the standard ItemTemplate and EditItemTemplate approach, just for sheer amount of markup required for that. Thanks!

  • Trouble accessing data in relationships in Ember

    - by user3618430
    I'm having trouble saving data in this model relationship. My models are as follows: App.Flow = DS.Model.extend({ title: DS.attr('string'), content: DS.attr('string'), isCustom: DS.attr('boolean'), params: DS.hasMany('parameter', {async: true}) }); App.Parameter = DS.Model.extend({ flow: DS.belongsTo('flow'), param: DS.attr('string'), param_tooltip: DS.attr('string'), param_value: DS.attr('string') }); As you can see, I want Flows to have multiple Parameters. I have a rudimentary setup using Flow and Parameter fixtures, which behave as expected in the templates. However, when I try to create new ones in the controller, I have trouble setting the flow and parameter values correctly. var p = this.store.createRecord('parameter', { param: "foo", param_tooltip: "world", param_value: "hello" }); var f = this.store.createRecord('flow', { title: 'job', content: title, isCustom: true, params: [p] // doesn't seem to work }); f.set('params', [p]); // doesn't seem to work p.set('flow', f); // also doesn't seem to work // Save the new model p.save(); f.save(); I've tried a lot of solutions after staring at this and StackOverflow for a while (not just the ones listed). I'm not really sure what to try next. One thing that I noticed in the Ember inspector was that the ids of these created elements were not integers (they were something like the string 'fixture_0'), but I'm not really sure why that would be, whether its related, or how to fix it. Thanks!

  • Where to add an overloaded operator for the tr1::array?

    - by phlipsy
    Since I need to add an operator& for the std::tr1::array<bool, N> I wrote the following lines template<std::size_t N> std::tr1::array<bool, N> operator& (const std::tr1::array<bool, N>& a, const std::tr1::array<bool, N>& b) { std::tr1::array<bool, N> result; std::transform(a.begin(), a.end(), b.begin(), result.begin(), std::logical_and<bool>()); return result; } Now I don't know in which namespace I've to put this function. I considered the std namespace as a restricted area. Only total specialization and overloaded function templates are allowed to be added by the user. Putting it into the global namespace isn't "allowed" either in order to prevent pollution of the global namespace and clashes with other declarations. And finally putting this function into the namespace of the project doesn't work since the compiler won't find it there. What had I best do? I don't want to write a new array class putted into the project namespace. Because in this case the compiler would find the right namespace via argument dependent name lookup. Or is this the only possible way because writing a new operator for existing classes means extending their interfaces and this isn't allowed either for standard classes?

  • How can i split up a component using cfinclude and still use inheritance?

    - by rip747
    Note: this is just a simplized example of what i'm trying to do to get the idea across. The problem I'm having is that I want to use cfinclude inside cfcomponent so that i can group like methods into separate files for more manageability. The problem I'm running into is when i try to extend another component that also uses cfinclude to manage it's method as demostrated below. Note that ComponentA extends ComponentB: ComponentA ========== <cfcomponent output="false" extends="componentb"> <cfinclude template="componenta/methods.cfm"> </cfcomponent> componenta/methods.cfm ====================== <cffunction name="a"><cfreturn "componenta-a"></cffunction> <cffunction name="b"><cfreturn "componenta-b"></cffunction> <cffunction name="c"><cfreturn "componenta-c"></cffunction> <cffunction name="d"><cfreturn super.a()></cffunction> ComponentB ========== <cfcomponent output="false"> <cfinclude template="componentb/methods.cfm"> </cfcomponent> componentb/methods.cfm ====================== <cffunction name="a"><cfreturn "componentb-a"></cffunction> <cffunction name="b"><cfreturn "componentb-b"></cffunction> <cffunction name="c"><cfreturn "componentb-c"></cffunction> The issue is that when i try to initialize ComponentA I get an the error: "Routines cannot be declared more than once. The routine a has been declared twice in different templates." The whole reason for this is because when you use cfinclude it's evaluated at RUN TIME instead of COMPILE TIME. Short of moving the methods into the components themselves and eliminating the use of cfinclude, how can i get around this or does someone have a better idea splitting up large components?

  • C++ Macro Arithmetric

    - by anon
    I have to do with Macros (it's macros calling macros; so templates are out of the question). Here's what I want: foo(3, a, b1, c1) --> foo1(a, b1, c1); foo(5, a, b1, c1, b2, c2) -> foo2(a, b1, c1, b2, c2); foo(7, a, b1, c1, b2, c2, b3, c3) -> foo3(a, b1, c1, b2, c2, b3, c3); So basically, what I want is to be able to execute the "function" n - (n-1)/2 at macro expansion time. Is this possible? Thanks! [PS, if you dislike my questions; I support your right to downvote; my worst question so far is only -17, so maybe we can break that record; however, please let me know why my question is technically invalid.] Thanks EDIT: Foo takes a variable # of arguments, of the form: foo(N, a1, b1, a2, b2, ... a_N, b_N) -> foo##N(a1, b1, a2, b2, ... a_N, b_N);

  • Unable to delete inherited entity class in EF4

    - by Coding Gorilla
    I have two entities in an EF4 model (using Model First), let's call them EntityA and EntityB. EntityA is marked as abstract, and EntityB inherits from EntityA. They are similar to the following: public class EntityA { public Guid Id; public string Name; public string Uri; } public class EntityB : EntityA { public string AnotherProperty; } The generated database tables look as I would expect them, with EntityA as on table, and then another table like: EntityA_EntityB Id (PK, FK, uniqueidentifier) AnotherProperty (varchar) There is a foreign key constraint on EntityA_EntityB that references EntityA's Id property, no cascades are configured (although I did try changing these myself). The problem is that when I attempt to do something like: Context.DeleteObject(EntityA_EntityB); EF attempts to delete the EntityA_EntityB table record before deleting the EntityA table record, which of course violates the foreign key constraint on EntityA_EntityB table. Using EFProfiler I see the following commands being sent to the database: delete [dbo].[EntityA_EntityB] where (([Id] = '5c02899f-09ea-2ed9-d44b-01aef80f6b64' /* @0 */) followed by delete [dbo].[EntityA] where ([Id] = '5c02899f-09ea-2ed9-d44b-01aef80f6b64' /* @0 */) I'm completely stumped as to how to get around this problem. I would think the EF should know that it needs to delete the base class first, before deleting the inherited class. I know I could do some triggers or other database type solutions, but I'd rather avoid doing that if I can. All my classes are POCO built using some customized T4 templates. I don't want to paste in a lot of extraneous code, but if you need more information I'll provide what I can.

  • .tpl files and website problem

    - by whitstone86
    Apologies if the title is in lowercase but it's describing an extension format. I've started using Dwoo as my template engine for PHP, and am not sure how to convert my PHP files into .tpl templates. My site is similar to, but not the same as, http://library.digiguide.com/lib/programme/Medium-319648/Drama/ with its design (except colour scheme and site name are different, plus it's in PHP - so copyright issues are avoided here, the design arguably could be seen as parody even though the content is different. The database is called tvguide, and it has these tables: Programmes House M.D. Medium Police Stop! American Dad! The tablenames of the above programmes are: housemdonair mediumonair policestopair americandad1 Episodes The tablenames for the above programmes' episode guides are: housemdepidata mediumepidata policestopepidata americandad1epidata All of them have the following rows: id (not an auto-increment, since I wish to dynamically generate a page from this) episodename seriesnumber episodenumber episodesynopsis (the above four after id do exactly as stated) I have a pagination script that works, it displays 20 records per page as I want it to. This is called pmcPagination.php - but I won't post it in full since it would take up too much space. However, I'm trying to get it so that variables are filled in like this: (ok, so the examples below are ASP.NET, but if there's a PHP/MySQL equivalent I would gratefully appreciate this!!): http://library.digiguide.com/lib/episode/741168 http://library.digiguide.com/lib/episode/714829 with the episode detail and data. My site works, but it's fairly basic, and it's not online yet until my bugs are fixed. Mod_rewrite is enabled so my site reads as http://mytvguide.com/episode/123456 or http://mytvguide.com/programme/123456 http://mytvguide.com/WorldInAction/123456/Documentary/ I've tried looking on Google, but am not sure how to get this TV guide script to work at its best - but I think .tpl, and .php/MySQL is the way to go. Any advice anyone has on making this project into a fully workable, ready to use site would be much appreciated, I've spent months refining this project! P.S. Apologies for the length of this, hope it describes my project well.

  • Optimization of a c++ matrix/bitmap class

    - by Andrew
    I am searching a 2D matrix (or bitmap) class which is flexible but also fast element access. The contents A flexible class should allow you to choose dimensions during runtime, and would look something like this (simplified): class Matrix { public: Matrix(int w, int h) : data(new int[x*y]), width(w) {} void SetElement(int x, int y, int val) { data[x+y*width] = val; } // ... private: // symbols int width; int* data; }; A faster often proposed solution using templates is (simplified): template <int W, int H> class TMatrix { TMatrix() data(new int[W*H]) {} void SetElement(int x, int y, int val) { data[x+y*W] = val; } private: int* data; }; This is faster as the width can be "inlined" in the code. The first solution does not do this. However this is not very flexible anymore, as you can't change the size anymore at runtime. So my question is: Is there a possibility to tell the compiler to generate faster code (like when using the template solution), when the size in the code is fixed and generate flexible code when its runtime dependend? I tried to achieve this by writing "const" where ever possible. I tried it with gcc and VS2005, but no success. This kind of optimization would be useful for many other similar cases.

  • Project Naming Convention Feedback Please

    - by Sam Striano
    I am creating a ASP.NET MVC 3 application using Entity Framework 4. I am using the Repository/Service Pattern and was looking for feedback. I currently have the following: MVC Application (GTG.dll) GTG GTG.Controllers GTG.ViewModels Business POCO's (GTG.Business.dll) This contains all business objects (Customer, Order, Invoice, etc...) EF Model/Repositories (GTG.Data.dll) GTG.Business (GTG.Context.tt) I used the Entity POCO Generator Templates. GTG.Data.Repositories Service Layer (GTG.Data.Services.dll) GTG.Data.Services - Contains all of the service objects, one per aggregate root. The following is a little sample code: Controller Namespace Controllers Public Class HomeController Inherits System.Web.Mvc.Controller Function Index() As ActionResult Return View(New Models.HomeViewModel) End Function End Class End Namespace Model Namespace Models Public Class HomeViewModel Private _Service As CustomerService Public Property Customers As List(Of Customer) Public Sub New() _Service = New CustomerService _Customers = _Service.GetCustomersByBusinessName("Striano") End Sub End Class End Namespace Service Public Class CustomerService Private _Repository As ICustomerRepository Public Sub New() _Repository = New CustomerRepository End Sub Function GetCustomerByID(ByVal ID As Integer) As Customer Return _Repository.GetByID(ID) End Function Function GetCustomersByBusinessName(ByVal Name As String) As List(Of Customer) Return _Repository.Query(Function(x) x.CompanyName.StartsWith(Name)).ToList End Function End Class Repository Namespace Data.Repositories Public Class CustomerRepository Implements ICustomerRepository Public Sub Add(ByVal Entity As Business.Customer) Implements IRepository(Of Business.Customer).Add End Sub Public Sub Delete(ByVal Entity As Business.Customer) Implements IRepository(Of Business.Customer).Delete End Sub Public Function GetByID(ByVal ID As Integer) As Business.Customer Implements IRepository(Of Business.Customer).GetByID Using db As New GTGContainer Return db.Customers.FirstOrDefault(Function(x) x.ID = ID) End Using End Function Public Function Query(ByVal Predicate As System.Linq.Expressions.Expression(Of System.Func(Of Business.Customer, Boolean))) As System.Linq.IQueryable(Of Business.Customer) Implements IRepository(Of Business.Customer).Query Using db As New GTGContainer Return db.Customers.Where(Predicate) End Using End Function Public Sub Save(ByVal Entity As Business.Customer) Implements IRepository(Of Business.Customer).Save End Sub End Class End Namespace

  • how to insert excel-2003 values into SQL2005 database?

    - by vas
    Are there any rules / guidelines for DATA form XLS sheets to be inserted into SQL- DB? I have a group of Excel templates in 2005.Each concerned cell in Excel template is named. When Excel sheets are filled, saved and submitted , the values are transferred to the database. Excel sheets have names for various cells that are to b e filled by the user EX:- for the total number of Milk in the Beginning a given month , there is an Excel Cell Named "mtsBpiPTR180" Total number of Milk in the Ending a given month , there is an Excel Cell Named **"mtsEpiPTR180"** I have added 2 new cells , named "mtsBpiPTR180PA" and "mtsEpiPTR180PA". Now I try to upload the Excel File. But I AM UNABLE TO SEE MY FILLED DATA FROM "mtsBpiPTR180PA" and "mtsEpiPTR180PA" INTO THE RELATED DB/table. The above 2 are empty in the DB/table, even though I have filled them and successfully filed the Excel sheets Now no matter how much I search in the DB/stored procs i am unable to the ACTUAL STORED PROC or how the Data form Excel sheet is inserted into Tables WHERE DATA FROM XLS is inserted into DB. So was wondering:- Are there any rules / guidelines for DATA form XLS sheets to be inserted into SQL- DB?

  • C++ Template Iterator error

    - by gprime
    I am going over some code i wrote in 2006 as an undergrad. It's a simple genetic algorithm library written in C++ using templates. It use to work in 2006 when i coded it with visual studio, but now when i am trying to run it in xcode i get compile errors. This function is giving me errors: friend bool operator==(const TSPGenome<T> & t1, const TSPGenome<T> & t2) { // loop through each interator and check to see if the two genomes have the same values if(t1.genome_vec->size() != t2.genome_vec->size()) return false; else { // iterate through each vector<T>::iterator it_t1; vector<T>::iterator it_t2; it_t1 = t1.genome_vec->begin(); for(it_t2 = t2.genome_vec->begin(); it_t2 != t2.genome_vec->end(); ++it_t2, ++it_t1) { if(*it_t2 != *it_t1) return false; } } // everything seems good return true; } xcode complains about these two lines not having ; before it_t1 and it_t2. vector<T>::iterator it_t1; vector<T>::iterator it_t2; Is it because the vector type it T? I declared it in the class as follows: template <typename T> class TSPGenome : public Genome { Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Why would 1.000 subforms in a db be a bad idea?

    - by KlaymenDK
    Warm-up I'm trying to come up with a good way to implement customized document forms. It's for a tool to request access to applications; each application will want to ask its own specific questions. The thing is, we have one kind of (common) user who needs to fill in and submit documents based on templates, and another kind of (super) user who needs to be able to define what each template needs to contain. One implementation option would be to use a form (with the basic mandatory stuff), and have that form dynamically include a subform appropriate to the specific task at hand. The gist of the matter is that we could (=will!) quite easily end up having many hundreds of different subforms! (NB. These subforms will be maintained in an automated manner, but that is another topic that may be considered outside the scope of this Question.) Question It's common knowledge that having a lot of views in a Notes database is Bad Thing. But has anyone tried pushing the number of forms or subforms and made any experiences regarding performance?

  • Copy subset of xml input using xslt

    I need an XSLT file to transform input xml to another with a subset of nodes in the input xml. For ex, if input has 10 nodes, I need to create output with about 5 nodes Input <Department diffgr:id="Department1" msdata:rowOrder="0"> <Department>10</Department> <DepartmentDescription>BABY PRODUCTS</DepartmentDescription> <DepartmentSeq>7</DepartmentSeq> <InsertDateTime>2011-09-29T13:19:28.817-05:00</InsertDateTime> </Department> Output: <Department diffgr:id="Department1" msdata:rowOrder="0"> <Department>10</Department> <DepartmentDescription>BABY PRODUCTS</DepartmentDescription> </Department> I found one way to suppress nodes that we dont need XSLT: <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:output omit-xml-declaration="yes"/> <xsl:template match="node()|@*"> <xsl:copy> <xsl:apply-templates select="node()|@*"/> </xsl:copy> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="Department/DepartmentSeq"/> <xsl:template match="Department/InsertDateTime"/> </xsl:stylesheet> I need an xslt that helps me select the nodes I need and not "copy all and filter out what I dont need", since i may have to change my xslt whenever input schema adds more nodes.

  • STLifying C++ classes

    - by shambulator
    I'm trying to write a class which contains several std::vectors as data members, and provides a subset of vector's interface to access them: class Mesh { public: private: std::vector<Vector3> positions; std::vector<Vector3> normals; // Several other members along the same lines }; The main thing you can do with a mesh is add positions, normals and other stuff to it. In order to allow an STL-like way of accessing a Mesh (add from arrays, other containers, etc.), I'm toying with the idea of adding methods like this: public: template<class InIter> void AddNormals(InIter first, InIter last); Problem is, from what I understand of templates, these methods will have to be defined in the header file (seems to make sense; without a concrete iterator type, the compiler doesn't know how to generate object code for the obvious implementation of this method). Is this actually a problem? My gut reaction is not to go around sticking huge chunks of code in header files, but my C++ is a little rusty with not much STL experience outside toy examples, and I'm not sure what "acceptable" C++ coding practice is on this. Is there a better way to expose this functionality while retaining an STL-like generic programming flavour? One way would be something like this: (end list) class RestrictedVector<T> { public: RestrictedVector(std::vector<T> wrapped) : wrapped(wrapped) {} template <class InIter> void Add(InIter first, InIter last) { std::copy(first, last, std::back_insert_iterator(wrapped)); } private: std::vector<T> wrapped; }; and then expose instances of these on Mesh instead, but that's starting to reek a little of overengineering :P Any advice is greatly appreciated!

  • Using abstract base to implement private parts of a template class?

    - by StackedCrooked
    When using templates to implement mix-ins (as an alternative to multiple inheritance) there is the problem that all code must be in the header file. I'm thinking of using an abstract base class to get around that problem. Here's a code sample: class Widget { public: virtual ~Widget() {} }; // Abstract base class allows to put code in .cpp file. class AbstractDrawable { public: virtual ~AbstractDrawable() = 0; virtual void draw(); virtual int getMinimumSize() const; }; // Drawable mix-in template<class T> class Drawable : public T, public AbstractDrawable { public: virtual ~Drawable() {} virtual void draw() { AbstractDrawable::draw(); } virtual int getMinimumSize() const { return AbstractDrawable::getMinimumSize(); } }; class Image : public Drawable< Widget > { }; int main() { Image i; i.draw(); return 0; } Has anyone walked that road before? Are there any pitfalls that I should be aware of?

  • Pitfalls of the Architecture - Database based HTTP Request/Response Parsing

    - by Sam
    We have a current eCommerce Site that runs on ASP.NET and we hired a consultant to develop an new site bases on SOA. The new site architecture is as follows Web Application : Single Page Web Application (built on javascript/jquery templates - do not use any MVVM frameworks) that uses some javascript thrown all over the place. Service Layer : Very very light Service Layer that does not do anything other than calling a single stored procedure and pass in the entire http request. Database : The entire site content is in the database. The database does the heavy lifting of parsing the request and based on the HTTP method and some input parameter calls the appropriate Store Procedures or views and renders the result in JSON/XML. We have been told by them that this is built on latest and greatest technologies. I have a lot of concerns and of them given are the few Load on the Database SEO concerns for single page application as this is a public facing website Scalablity? Is this SOA? Cross Browser compatability (Site does not work in < IE9) Realistic implementaion of Single page application I know something is not right but I just need to validate my concerns here. Please help me.

  • Make All Types Constant by Default in C++

    - by Jon Purdy
    What is the simplest and least obtrusive way to indicate to the compiler, whether by means of compiler options, #defines, typedefs, or templates, that every time I say T, I really mean T const? I would prefer not to make use of an external preprocessor. Since I don't use the mutable keyword, that would be acceptable to repurpose to indicate mutable state. Potential (suboptimal) solutions so far: // I presume redefinition of keywords is implementation-defined or illegal. #define int int const #define ptr * const int i(0); int ptr j(&i); typedef int const Int; typedef int const* const Intp; Int i(0); Intp j(&i); template<class T> struct C { typedef T const type; typedef T const* const ptr; }; C<int>::type i(0); C<int>::ptr j(&i);

  • HTML templating in C++ and translations

    - by Karim
    I'm using HTML_Template for templating in my C++-based web app (don't ask). I chose that because it was very simple and it turns out to be a good solution. The only problem right now is that I would like to be able to include translatable strings in the HTML templates (HTML_Template does not really support that). Ultimately, what I would like is to have a single file that contains all the strings to be translated. It can then be given to a translator and plugged back in to the app and used depending on which language the user chose in settings. I've been going back and forth on some options and was wondering what others felt was the best choice (or if there's a better choice that isn't listed) Extend HTML_Template to include a tag for holding the literal string to translate. So, for example, in the HTML I would put something like <TMPL_TRANS "this is the text to translate"/> Use a completely separate scheme for translation and preprocess the HTML files to generate the final template files (without the special translation lingo). For example, in the pre-processed file, translatable text would look like this: {{this is the text to translate}} and the final would look like: this is the text to translate Don't do anything and let the translators find the string to translate in the html and js files themselves.

  • OOP + MVC advice on Member Controller

    - by dan727
    Hi, I am trying to follow good practices as much as possible while I'm learning using OOP in an MVC structure, so i'm turning to you guys for a bit of advice on something which is bothering me a little here. I am writing a site where I will have a number of different forms for members to fill in (mainly data about themselves), so i've decided to set up a Member controller where all of the forms relating to the member are represented as individual methods. This includes login/logout methods, as well as editing profile data etc. In addition to these methods, i also have a method to generate the member's control panel widget, which is a constant on every page on the site while the member is logged in. The only thing is, all of the other methods in this controller all have the same dependencies and form templates, so it would be great to generate all this in the constructor, but as the control_panel method does not have the same dependencies etc, I cannot use the constructor for this purpose, and instead I have to redeclare the dependencies and same template snippets in each method. This obviously isn't ideal and doesn't follow DRY principle, but I'm wondering what I should do with the control_panel method, as it is related to the member and that's why I put it in that controller in the first place. Am I just over-complicating things here and does it make sense to just move the control_panel method into a simple helper class? Here are the basic methods of the controller: class Member_Controller extends Website_Controller { public function __construct() { parent::__construct(); if (request::is_ajax()) { $this->auto_render = FALSE; // disable auto render } } public static function control_panel() { //load control panel view $panel = new View('user/control_panel'); return $panel; } public function login() { } public function register() { } public function profile() { } public function household() { } public function edit_profile() { } public function logout() { } }

  • (Python/Pyramid) Better ways to have standard list/form editors?

    - by badcat
    I'm working on a number of Pyramid (former Pylons) projects, and often I have the need to display a list of some content (let's say user accounts, log entries or simply some other data). A user should be able to paginate through the list, click on a row and get a form where he/she can edit the contents of that row. Right now I'm always re-inventing the wheel by having Mako templates which use webhelpers for the pagination, Jquery UI for providing a dialog and I craft the editor form and AJAX requests on the client and server side by hand. As you may know, this eats up painfully much time. So what I'm wondering is: Is there a better way of providing lists, editor dialog and server/client communication about this, without having to re-invent the wheel every time? I heard Django takes off a big load of that by providing user accounts and other stuff out of the box; but in my case it's not just about user accounts, it can be any kind of data that is stored on the server-side in a SQL database, which should be able to be edited by a user. Thanks in advance!
