  • SQL Query - Need some basic help

    - by Chuck Folds
I'm in need of some basic TSQL help. Here's my table layout: Orders Table SSN ZipCode ZipLookup Table ZipCode State All columns are varchars. How would I get a list of States with the number of distinct SSN's in each state? Preferably, if a particular SSN has orders from multiple states only the state with the most orders would be counted for that SSN. Thank you for any tips you can give me.

  • mysql - funny square characters added to the value when inserting it into table

    - by stone
Hi, I have a php script that inserts values into mySQL table INSERT INTO stories (title) VALUES('$_REQUEST[title]); I checked the values of my request variables before going into the table and it's fine. But when I add title=john to the table for example, I get something like this: title = "[][][][]john" and when I extract the value, it's a newline then john. I have my columns set to utf-8, I tried swedish character set as well. Note: I don't get this error when inserting values from the phpMyAdmin commandline

  • How do bind a List<object> to a DataGrid in Silverlight?

    - by Ben McCormack
I'm trying to create a simple Silverlight application that involves parsing a CSV file and displaying the results in a DataGrid. I've configured my application to parse the CSV file to return a List<CSVTransaction> that contains properties with names: Date, Payee, Category, Memo, Inflow, Outflow. The user clicks a button to select a file to parse, at which point I want the DataGrid object to be populated. I'm thinking I want to use data binding, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the data to show up in the grid. My XAML for the DataGrid looks like this: <data:DataGrid IsEnabled="False" x:Name="TransactionsPreview"> <data:DataGrid.Columns> <data:DataGridTextColumn Header="Date" Binding="{Binding Date}" /> <data:DataGridTextColumn Header="Payee" Binding="{Binding Payee}"/> <data:DataGridTextColumn Header="Category" Binding="{Binding Category}"/> <data:DataGridTextColumn Header="Memo" Binding="{Binding Memo}"/> <data:DataGridTextColumn Header="Inflow" Binding="{Binding Inflow}"/> <data:DataGridTextColumn Header="Outflow" Binding="{Binding Outflow}"/> </data:DataGrid.Columns> </data:DataGrid> The code-behind for the xaml.cs file looks like this: private void OpenCsvFile_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { try { CsvTransObject csvTO = new CsvTransObject.ParseCSV(); //This returns a List<CsvTransaction> and passes it //to a method which is supposed to set the DataContext //for the DataGrid to be equal to the list. BindCsvTransactions(csvTO.CsvTransactions); TransactionsPreview.IsEnabled = true; MessageBox.Show("The CSV file has a valid header and has been loaded successfully."); } catch (Exception ex) { MessageBox.Show(ex.Message); } } private void BindCsvTransactions(List<CsvTransaction> listYct) { TransactionsPreview.DataContext = listYct; } My thinking is to bind the CsvTransaction properties to each DataGridTextColumn in the XAML and then set the DataContext for the DataGrid to the List<CsvTransaction at run-time, but this isn't working. Any ideas about how I might approach this (or do it better)?

  • Calling an Excel Add-In method from C# application or vice versa

    - by Jude
I have an Excel VBA add-in with a public method in a bas file. This method currently creates a VB6 COM object, which exists in a running VB6 exe/vbp. The VB6 app loads in data and then the Excel add-in method can call methods on the VB6 COM object to load the data into an existing Excel xls. This is all currently working. We have since converted our VB6 app to C#. My question is: What is the best/easiest way to mimic this behavior with the C#/.NET app? I'm thinking I may not be able to pull the data from the .NET app into Excel from the add-in method since the .Net app needs to be running with data loaded (so no using a stand-alone C# class library). Maybe we can, instead, push the data from .NET to Excel by accessing the VBA add-in method from the C# code? The following is the existing VBA method accessing the VB6 app: Public Sub UpdateInDataFromApp() Dim wkbInData As Workbook Dim oFPW As Object Dim nMaxCols As Integer Dim nMaxRows As Integer Dim j As Integer Dim sName As String Dim nCol As Integer Dim nRow As Integer Dim sheetCnt As Integer Dim nDepth As Integer Dim sPath As String Dim vData As Variant Dim SheetRange As Range Set wkbInData = wkbOpen("InData.xls") sPath = g_sPathXLSfiles & "\" 'Note: the following will bring up fpw app if not already running Set oFPW = CreateObject("FPW.CProfilesData") If oFPW Is Nothing Then MsgBox "Unable to reference " & sApp Else . . . sheetCnt = wkbInData.Sheets.Count 'get number of sheets in indata workbook For j = 2 To sheetCnt 'set counter to loop over all sheets except the first one which is not input data fields With wkbInData.Worksheets(j) Set SheetRange = .UsedRange End With With SheetRange nMaxRows = .Rows.Count 'get range of sheet(j) nMaxCols = .Columns.Count 'get range of sheet(j) Range(.Cells(2, 2), .Cells(nMaxRows, nMaxCols)).ClearContents 'Clears data from data range (51 Columns) Range(.Cells(2, 2), .Cells(nMaxRows, nMaxCols)).ClearComments End With With oFPW 'vb6 object For nRow = 2 To nMaxRows ' loop through rows sName = SheetRange.Cells(nRow, 1) 'Field name vData = .vntGetSymbol(sName, 0) 'Check if vb6 app identifies the name nDepth = .GetInputTableDepth(sName) 'Get number of data items for this field name from vb6 app nMaxCols = nDepth + 2 'nDepth=0, is single data item For nCol = 2 To nMaxCols 'loop over deep screen fields nDepth = nCol - 2 'current depth vData = .vntGetSymbol(sName, nDepth) 'Get Data from vb6 app If LenB(vData) > 0 And IsNumeric(vData) Then 'Check if data returned SheetRange.Cells(nRow, nCol) = vData 'Poke the data in Else SheetRange.Cells(nRow, nCol) = vData 'Poke a zero in End If Next 'nCol Next 'nRow End With Set SheetRange = Nothing Next 'j End If Set wkbInData = Nothing Set oFPW = Nothing Exit Sub . . . End Sub Any help would be appreciated.

  • SQL Server, varchar data to nvarchar data

    - by Øyvind
I've got a database with collation Danish_Norwegian_CS_AS and lots of varchar columns. I'd like to convert all this data to unicode, but haven't found a way to convert this data yet. If I've understood correctly, the encoding used is UCS-2 little endian. For example I've got a column containing 'PÃ¥l-Trygve' which is easily converted with C# to 'Pål-Trygve' using Encoding.Default.GetString(Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes("PÃ¥l-Trygve")); Is there a way to do this conversion in the Microsoft SQL Server client?

  • hibernate sybase db power function

    - by Vipin Thomas
We are trying to use sybase function power to do mathematical calculation for one of the DB columns. The hibernate is generating power function as pow(?, xyzo0_.AmtScale) whereas sybase supports power function as Syntax POWER( numeric-expression-1, numeric-expression-2 ) We have tried modifying the hibernate.dialect. Have tried org.hibernate.dialect.SybaseASE15Dialect org.hibernate.dialect.Sybase11Dialect org.hibernate.dialect.SybaseAnywhereDialect but all dialects generate the power function as pow(?, xyzo0_.AmtScale). Is this hibernate issue or are we missing something?

  • SimpleRepository auto migrations with indexes

    - by scott
I am using subsonic simplerepo with migrations in dev and it makes things pretty easy but I keep running into issues with my nvarchar columns that have an index. My users table has an index defined on the username column for obvious reasons but each time I start the project subsonic is doing this: ALTER TABLE [Users] ALTER COLUMN Username nvarchar(50); which causes this: The index 'IX_Username' is dependent on column 'Username'.ALTER TABLE ALTER COLUMN Username failed because one or more objects access this column Is there any way around this issue?

  • Initialization of ComboBox in datagrid, Silverlight 4.0

    - by Budda
I have datagrid with list of MyPlayer objects linked to ItemsSource, there are ComboBoxes inside of grid that are linked to a list of inner object, and binding works correctly: when I select one of the item then its value is pushed to data model and appropriately updated in other places, where it is used. The only problem: initial selections are not displayed in my ComboBoxes. I don't know why..? Instance of the ViewModel is assigned to view DataContext. Here is grid with ComboBoxes (grid is binded to the SquadPlayers property of ViewModel): <data:DataGrid ="True" AutoGenerateColumns="False" ItemsSource="{Binding SquadPlayers}"> <data:DataGrid.Columns> <data:DataGridTemplateColumn Header="Rig." Width="50"> <data:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ComboBox SelectedItem="{Binding Rigid, Mode=TwoWay}" ItemsSource="{Binding IntLevels, Mode=TwoWay}"/> </DataTemplate> </data:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> </data:DataGridTemplateColumn> </data:DataGrid.Columns> </data:DataGrid> Here is ViewModel class ('_model_DataReceivedEvent' method is called asynchronously, when data are received from server): public class SquadViewModel : ViewModelBase<SquadModel> { public SquadViewModel() { SquadPlayers = new ObservableCollection<SquadPlayer>(); } private void _model_DataReceivedEvent(List<SostavPlayerData> allReadyPlayers) { TeamTask task = new TeamTask { Rigid = 1 }; foreach (SostavPlayerData spd in allReadyPlayers) { SquadPlayer sp = new SquadPlayer(spd, task); SquadPlayers.Add(sp); } RaisePropertyChanged("SquadPlayers"); } And here is SquadPlayer class (it's objects are binded to the grid rows): public class SquadPlayer : INotifyPropertyChanged { public SquadPlayer(SostavPlayerData spd) { _spd = spd; Rigid = 2; } public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; private int _rigid; public int Rigid { get { return _rigid; } set { _rigid = value; if (PropertyChanged != null) { PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("Rigid")); } } } private readonly ObservableCollection<int> _statIntLevels = new ObservableCollection<int> { 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 }; public ObservableCollection<int> IntLevels { get { return _statIntLevels; } } It is expected to have all "Rigid" comboboxes set to "2" value, but they are not selected (items are in the drop-down list, and if any value is selected it is going to ViewModel). What is wrong with this example? Any help will be welcome. Thanks.

  • Display DateTime in GridView using user's time

  • Trouble binding command in grid menu item.

    - by Pete
    I have a grid that's inside a usercontrol derived class called MediatedUserControl. I'm adding a context menu to let the user delete an item, but I've been unable to figure out how to bind the command to my command property. I'm using MVVM and my viewmodel implements a public ICommand property called DeleteSelectedItemCommand. However, when the view is displayed, I get the following message in the output window: System.Windows.Data Error: 4 : Cannot find source for binding with reference 'RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType='BRO.View.MediatedUserControl', AncestorLevel='1''. BindingExpression:Path=DataContext.DeleteSelectedItemCommand; DataItem=null; target element is 'BarButtonItem' (HashCode=6860584); target property is 'Command' (type 'ICommand') I feel like I generally have a good handle on bindings like this and can't figure out what it is I'm missing here. Thanks for any help you can provide. <dxg:GridControl HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="12,88,0,0" x:Name="gridControl1" VerticalAlignment="Top" Height="500" Width="517" DataSource="{Binding ItemList}" BorderBrush="{StaticResource {x:Static SystemColors.ActiveBorderBrushKey}}" ShowBorder="True" Background="{StaticResource {x:Static SystemColors.ControlLightBrushKey}}" UseLayoutRounding="False" DataContext="{Binding}"> <dxg:GridControl.Columns> <dxg:GridColumn FieldName="Code" Header="Code" Width="107" /> <dxg:GridColumn FieldName="Name" Header="Item" Width="173" /> <dxg:GridColumn FieldName="PricePerItem" Header="Unit Price" Width="70"> <dxg:GridColumn.EditSettings> <dxe:TextEditSettings DisplayFormat="N2" /> </dxg:GridColumn.EditSettings> </dxg:GridColumn> <dxg:GridColumn FieldName="Quantity" Header="Qty" Width="50" AllowEditing="True" /> <dxg:GridColumn FieldName="TotalPrice" Header="Total Price" Width="90"> <dxg:GridColumn.EditSettings> <dxe:TextEditSettings DisplayFormat="N2" /> </dxg:GridColumn.EditSettings> </dxg:GridColumn> </dxg:GridControl.Columns> <dxg:GridControl.View> <dxg:TableView ShowIndicator="False" ShowGroupPanel="False" MultiSelectMode="Row" AllowColumnFiltering="False" AllowBestFit="False" AllowFilterEditor="False" AllowEditing="False" AllowGrouping="False" AllowSorting="False" AllowResizing="False" AllowMoving="False" AllowMoveColumnToDropArea="False" AllowDateTimeGroupIntervalMenu="False" > <dxg:TableView.RowCellMenuCustomizations> <dxb:BarButtonItem Name="deleteRowItem" Command="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType=view:MediatedUserControl, AncestorLevel=1}, Path=DataContext.DeleteSelectedItemCommand}"> </dxb:BarButtonItem> </dxg:TableView.RowCellMenuCustomizations> </dxg:TableView> </dxg:GridControl.View>

  • Autoincrement uniqueidentifier in C#

    - by drasto
Basically I want to use uniqueidentifier in similar way as identity. I don't want to insert values into it, It should just insert values automatically, different value for each row. I'm not able to set autoincrement on columns of type uniqueidentifier(the property 'autoincrement' is set to false and is not editable).

  • Performance in SQL Mobile with one big column that's not being selected

    - by Anthony Mastrean
I have a SQL Mobile database with one table. It has several columns with useful, often queried data and one column that stores a relatively large string per record (1000+ characters) that is not queried often. Imagine this fake schema, the "lifeStory" field is the large one. table1 String firstName String lastName String address String lifeStory A representative query would be SELECT firstName, lastName, address FROM table1 WHERE firstName = :p1 Does anyone know of any performance concerns leaving that large, infrequently queried column in this table?

CONTAINSTABLE(Indexes, *), 'test', 5) //5 results No matter what I change the above keyword too, it only returns the first 3-5 results. It should roughly return 90-120 results, for the above query. SELECT count(*) FROM Indexes WHERE [Description] like '%test%' //122 results How would I start to troubleshoot this problem?

  • UpdatePanel works great in all browsers except IE8

    - by Phil
I'm using a timer triggered update panel which works perfectly under the latest versions of Firefox, Opera, and Safari. However, in IE, it sometimes works fine (just the panel updates without flicker elsewhere), but often the whole page starts to flicker after a while. It looks like the data should be added when data frame is being initialized. I can do this: dfBlank <- data.frame(dfWithData[1]) but I am more interested if it is possible to append columns to an empty (but inti)
